Delicious and so fresh! We had the basil fried rice with chicken and the cashew nut chicken after a starter of egg rolls. It was a lot of food, but we made a pretty good dent in it! Not a lot of veggies in the fried rice, but a good amount of chicken. All the veggies in the dishes were extremely fresh. The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. I used to always order here for lunch break at work since its right down the street. The first few times were great, but service and quality started to slowly descend with each visit. After calling 20 minutes before hand, and being told the food would be ready in 15 minutes, after showing up...the food still isn't ready. I've had to run back to work and then run back when I could find a second. Also, they've bumped their prices pretty high in my opinion. A serving of pad see eew is $12-$13 and the size isn't decent for how much it costs to be honest. The food also isn't up to the standards that they had when they first opened. Skip this place. The service is horrendously slow and they don't even apologize for it. We probably waited for forty five minutes for our food. It also took forever to order. The food was also not that good. Ordered the red curry lunch combo with tofu and it came with white rice, pad Thai, and chicken potstickers. The curry was meh. The fried tofu in the curry was meh (had a squishy texture), the pad Thai was meh (tasted kinda stale), and the potstickers were meh. This is my go to Thai place next to home. The service is always quick and to the point and the food is delicious. My husband and I have tried a variety of things and there's never been a miss and when I'm looking for a good, solid and most importantly consistent Pad Thai I can order without hesitation from Dek Thai. It's not too sweet and it's not red like some are when ketchup is substituted for tamarind paste. Also their spice is actually on point so you know it's good. I just stumbled across this place after a visit to Bakery Neuvo and Grand Central Bakery which is across the street. I actually parked on the wrong street and took a stroll after visiting the bakeries when I discovered this place. I'm so glad I decided to take a stroll this being my reward. It's a welcoming place and the young lady waiting on me couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. She recommended the Cispy Garlic Chicken and I'm so glad she did. Three stars for the spice level and it was perfectly to my liking. The had thai, spring roll, gyoza and brown rice were perfect combinations to my lunch special. Tonight, on a flight layover, I ordered from Del Thai off Uber Eats. Driver was cool dude. Ate my Brocolli Beef in my hotel room. Took my first bite and could not believe my taste buds. This is the best Brocolli Beef I have ever had delivered, ever! Meat was tender, brocolli was not overcooked, and the sauce, which I requested spicy, was stunningly delicious! I fly to SEA-TAC often. My regular Thai takeout place is closed on Sunday, so I decided to give this place another try. Got the crispy garlic chicken. The texture of the chicken seems off (chewy and rubbery), but meat appears to be cooked. Maybe the fat/tendon/cartilage weren't trimmed off. Anyway, now I'm paying the price literally, for cheating on my regular Thai joint. I'm having horrible runs, that I'm updating my review in the bathroom...!!! Now I have never wrote a negative review in the decade plus I've been using help. I am a very easy going person for the most part. I have had several encounters terrible encounters with the women owner and this last exchange was the last straw. I made a phone order and she tells me it will be ready in 15 minutes. I show up about 15-20 minutes after I call. I walk in she doesn't greet me. Just asks me what I want. I told her my name and I placed a phone order. She says I'm early and walks away. As she's walking away I asked if she would like me to pay and no response. Maybe she didn't hear me. I get my order and pay. I don't always tip on Togo orders but I will if the service is good. I put in $0.00 on the tip line and set the receipt down on the counter. She snatches it up to look at it, sees that there's no tip and says something under her breath. I smiled and said goodbye and have a nice day. She doesn't respond. I say it again but louder this time she looks up at me with a piercing stare. Acknowledging she heard me. It really sucks because me and my girl get Thai food at least once a week and this place is within walking distance to the house. Luckily we found another place on burien called the Krungthep Thai in burien. While it isn't walking distance the food is a little bit better and the service is amazing. I gave them 3 stars still and not 1 because I believe they split ownership at Dek Thai and the other gentleman that owns it is a good guy. However, one of my shrimp rolls contained a very large piece of steel wool sticking out of it. I took the roll containing the wire back and stated that I would not return again as a customer. This is a positive review but I need to point out right away that I Would give another star if they would turn the heat on. Everyone, including the waitress, is wearing a jacket in there. Please, I beg you, turn the heat on so that people outside of the kitchen can eat and socialize without a coat on. I've mentioned it but was just met with shy smiles like I am trying to make a silly joke. The first time I thought maybe they are just a new place and having heater problems but we are three months since my first visit and still no heat. We have eaten there three times over the last couple months and the food has been consistently very good. The server girl that has worked each time is friendly. Space they are in is decent and of course the location is perfect since they are right in the middle of old town Burien. We eat at Thai Corner regularly and sometimes Teak House, but prefer Dek Thai's dishes. My wife likes to get their plum wine. The fresh rolls are really good and their peanut sauce is a little different than I have had before and I really like it. Would be interested to try their Rama there because of it. Their curries are delicious and so is their Pad See Ew. There is also a finely chopped meat dish called Pad Kaplau that you can get a fried egg on top. I got the chopped pork. I haven't seen this at any other Thai places and it is delicious here. Probably going to be my go to at Dek Thai. They are also generous with the rice here. I really do not like when you get a small cup of rice and a huge plate of stir fry and you use up the rice 1/3 of the way into your meal. It just isn't right. We were planning on going to the restaurant nearby, but it was closed. So, we thought maybe we'd try the Thai place near where we parked. The ambience is good, as well as the jasmine tea. The staff were very nice. They brought a chicken dish to my friend, who is a vegetarian. They apologized profusely then made what she originally ordered. My Tom Kha was very delicious. Unfortunately, her veggie dish tasted like metal, as if it was stir fried in an old pan that is shedding or there might have been mold on the food. You know how strawberries can have that metallic taste when they are getting old? My friend and I were being conflict-averse, so we just asked for her dish to be packed up.
