The Del Mar Deli is a great place to stop for a snack when visiting the South Point. It has a wide menu selection ranging from deli subs, pizzas, breakfast sandwiches, and soups to finger foods, bagels, baked goods, mouthwatering pastries and desserts. There seriously is something for everybody here! Your order is placed (and delivered) at their walk-up counter, but the deli includes an adjacent seating area where you can sit down while waiting for your order. During peak dining hours, this area can get a little congested (and messy from those above using the self-busing bins), but there are signs discouraging casino "campers" from utilizing the space for an impromptu lounge. Usually, the dining space is clean. I spent my wait time - about 10 minutes - watching staffers slice a variety of fresh Boar's Head meats for sandwiches on order (and second-guessing my own order after seeing all the great things being created or displayed behind glass). Wait times do vary, and there's even a posted sign on the counter warning of orders taking up to 30-minutes - but all sandwiches are freshly made and that would cover grilled steaks and pizzas doubtlessly taking longer during peak eating hours. When it's time for a break from gambling and the bustle of the casino floor, the Del Mar Deli is a wonderful spot to grab a quick bite. My friend & I were hanging out the other night at the Sports Bar for a ladies Meetup, some of the girls had come over here to order food to bring back to the table & things looked sooooo yummy. My friend Yolanda & I decided to head over (once the long line died down....place gets busy!) & order something to eat. They have a decent size menu with lots of choices. I had to make up my mind between a couple of items. OMG their dessert selection is crazy! HUGE portions & great prices. I went with a sugar cookie (see photo), it was kinda hard with a light sugar taste. I've had better but it was still edible. I ended up going with a grilled ham & cheese on sourdough bread & Yolanda got a grilled cheese on Rye bread. They came with these crunchy (not too hard) tasty french fries. Food is so fresh, made to order. We tried this place twice. One for a dinner snack, Got the ham sandwich. Delicious if you ask me. Came with a potato salad (that was pretty dry) My husband got a chicken sandwich with fries. He said it was good too. The next morning, I came in for the jalapeño cheddar bagel breakfast sandwich. I've had mixed experiences here. Their bagels are very good, crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Their scallion cream cheese has fresh scallions and is addicting! Today we had a couple desserts to go, the Boston cream cake and cinnamon bun. I was hoping the cinnamon bun would be gooey and tender but it was dry even in the middle and I only tried a bite before giving up on it. The Boston cream cake is pretty good, it has chocolate chips inside and a cream layer between layers of white cake and chocolate on top. I've had their cheesecake, which is very good. It seems hit or miss depending on what you order. The service is always fast and friendly and they work to get the food out as quickly as possible even when it's busy. So, I've eaten at Del Mar Deli a few times now in the last couple of years and I've got to say that the sandwiches are bare-bones, as in, a couple pieces of bread and whatever meat the sandwich calls for. On my last visit, my pastrami sandwich consisted of a French roll and pastrami. No mustard, no mayo. It did have tomato for only .85 extra and lettuce for another .85. Now, they do throw in a cheap bag of chips or a tasteless cup of potato salad for free. $22 is pretty steep for a bland sandwich. read more

It was dead on tasting like pistachio very delicious moist a good choice especially if you like pistachio. I wanna try another one now so many I think that cake was $8.95 I also got the New York style pepperoni pizza, thin crust so freaking amazing you're from New York and you're craving the authentic. I was told about the pastrami sandwich and their "big ass" apple pies and other delicious desserts. And, so I made the visit to Del Mar Deli after watching movie at the theater. Both theater and the deli were located inside South Point Casino in Vegas; I didn't have to walk far. The line was about 5-8 people long and continued on until after I got my one slice pizza order. I had originally came for the large apple pie turnovers. Unfortunately, they ran out. What was left were other desserts such as extra large chocolate chip cookies and slices of cakes. Every dessert was large size, nothing small. The slice of cheese pizza was not worth $5. It was ok, nothing to brag about. The slice wasn't even large like the desserts offered. Also, nothing special to note regarding the two staff positioned at the register, but service was fast. The order wait took several minutes. We went to Del Mar Deli inside South Point for a late dinner after seeing Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. They are a little hard to find at first because it's a small deli tucked away in the very back of the casino, but once you find the sports book and Kate's Korner, their presence becomes clearer. It wasn't busy at all so we got our order in about 5-10 minutes. We decided to take it back home with us instead of dining in. They had lots of food options available, but when I laid my eye on their tuna sandwich on their menu, this is exactly what I got, as this is one of my favorite sandwiches out there. The tuna sandwich came with lettuce, onions, and tomato on white bread with a pickle on the side. While this sandwich was super delicious, I think that they should take it easy on the onions or maybe dice them up a little bit next time. It was packed with onions and they had that insanely spicy flavor to it (when onions are diced, the spice is not present). My boyfriend got some club sandwich on white bread which had turkey, bacon, tomato, and lettuce, which also came with a pickle on the side. Even though we shared a big bucket of popcorn during the movie, he was still hungry and ended up finishing the entire thing. And their desserts...OMG. They look SO good. They have cookies as big as your entire hand and they have so many mouthwatering yummy cakes available in many flavors. The name "of the sea" doesn't make much sense to me because you can really get anything here. It's more or less just a regular/quick spot to grab a bite. The pizza and fries are good. On previous trips to Vegas we always made a point to eat at Bagel Cafe on Buffalo Drive. This was a work trip and I didn't have my own vehicle or time really to suggest something so far away but I was happy to see this other business owned by the same people. Even better, the food quality was every bit up to my memories of the Bagel Cafe. I'm not sure what drives the relatively low ranking of this location. The Deli is in a casino not a freestanding building but I think getting in and out of Southpointe is pretty easy especially in the prime deli hours of breakfast and lunch. My breakfast was a sausage, egg and cheddar sandwich on a jalapeño cheese bagel. The bagel was wonderful. Lightly crispy outside, perfect medium density and bready on the inside. I also got a large filled chocolate cupcake to-go (It looked like a jumbo sized Hostess cupcake). The cupcake was excellent with velvety soft cake crumb and, as expected, a very sweet creamy filling. Not really the food of a Michelin starred patisserie but exactly what it looks like and sets your expectations for and there were many baked items to choose from including a large variety of gigantic cookies. Improvements? Being in a casino I somewhat understand but for non-casino guests, opening earlier than 8 am would be nice. Located in the sports book area of the casino tucked away in the back, this place is easy to miss. For me, the standard I hold every Deli to is how do they make a grilled Reuben. This place does a good job. Better than most. The corned beef is fresh and sliced to the perfect thickness. Not too thin so it falls apart and dries out, not too thick to make it hard to eat. I got this favorite of mine done traditional style. Rye bread, corned beef, Swiss cheese, 1000 island dressing and grilled sauerkraut. It was under flavored and slightly dry, but, it had plenty of corned beef (something many deli's miss), but not enough sauerkraut and the kraut could use more time on the grill. With the kraut not grilled enough it makes the sandwich soggy. And no one wants a soggy grilled sandwich! The sandwich itself is a bit pricy. Nearly $20 for the sandwich and fries. But, a good Reuben is hard to find. Oh, their choice of fries are also on point though. They used seasoned fries which hold up nicely, are nice and crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside. Even as these fries cool off, they hold up well without tasting stale or dried out. The one thing they definitely missed was the pickle spear. You spend nearly $20 for fries and Sandwich and don't give a nice pickle spear with that? Really?!? Overall it was good, but, considering that Carnegie Deli is no longer around, this just might be the best one can find in Vegas at this point. read more
