What a find! I almost don't want to share ... Very special atmosphere in this remodeled Spanish restaurant in a lovely boutique hotel in Palm Springs. Outdoor seating looked lovely. We sat indoors in a plush booth, across from gorgeous tiger wallpaper and a beautiful and unique gold mirror. Mood lighting and private. Our server Kai was delightful throughout our meal. We asked questions and he answered all of them knowledgeably. We had: grilled artichokes (3 halves) with aoli and a green herb sauce bombas - fried mashed potato balls with manchego inside ensalada - with ham, cheese, oranges, pistachios gambas - shrimp in garlic sauce All of the dishes were well executed, flavorful and beautifully presented. Beautiful restaurant with great service and delicious food! Enough room outside for our team to sit together (benches and table seats). We ordered almost all of the small plate options and every single thing was DELICIOUS (check out the pics)! My colleagues ordered cocktails and wines and said they were good. I asked for a lemonade with strawberry added and it tasted fresh squeezed was it was a little on the tart side but after adding some of my water to it, it was perfect. We were blown away by the food, service, and ambiance. This was definitely one of our all time best tapas experiences and better than what we had in Spain. We shared 3 dishes and they were all perfection! The bombas, meatballs (best I ever tasted), and the salad with arugula, cheese, and ham (oh my). We also loved the house special martini which came with a blue cheese olive covered with chorizo (incredible) and the red sangria. Our server, Enrique, was extremely kind, competent, and pampering. Little hotel is hidden by some beautiful hedges. The little plaque out front lets you know you are in the right place. Lobby is rich and beautiful and sexy. Walked through the hotel and the pool to get to this restaurant. It matched the vibe of the lobby. Dark, rich and sexy. All of the staff was attentive and helpful. This place is tapas style so we ordered quite a bit. The Barajas bravas, the bombas, meatballs, ensalada de temporada and broccoli. Everything was so rich, delicious and flavored perfectly. We attended their once a month paella that they offer by reservation only Oct - May. Staff was amazing and I loved they introduced the staff at the start of the night. They started on the patio with appetizers of stuffed dates and steak bites on toast. We then moved inside to our own table that had a personalized card greeting us. Every course was thoughtful and tasty. We overall had an amazing dinner that lasted almost three hours. All I can say is if your not sure - its worth it. The food and the atmosphere were good until the cold broccolini came out, we put it on our plate and immediately told the waiter that it was cold. 10 minutes later, we were told that the chef said that we are not getting a new plate of broccolini because we ate too much of the original plate. At this point, we asked to see the manager who said that he would take the broccolini off the bill and we advised him that we didn't eat the broccolini so yes, he should take it off the bill. Then the Chef came out, proceeded to get hostile with us that we ate the broccolini and we're trying to get it for free. I showed him that the cold broccoli was on my plate and it went very downhill from there. I was actually afraid that the chef wanted to fight us and proceeded to escort us out of the restaurant. I don't know what it is about this place but I cannot stop thinking about it. Every single dish we had was amazing. We genuinely loved each dish and ordered seconds and thirds of some - the shrimp especially. The service was wonderful and don't get me started on the ambiance - it is PERFECT. We are very tough critics and coming from NYC have copious amounts of lovely restaurants around us yet ever since returning home from Palm Springs I cannot stop thinking about our dinner here. My friend recommended Del Rey & it did not disappoint! From the lobby to the pool space, the hotel grounds were beautiful. Such a pretty little path leading back to the restaurant. Inside we had the cutest tucked-away corner booth, even though the tables are close together it still felt private & it was quiet enough to carry a conversation. Loved the moody but elegant speak-easy vibes! For four people I think we ordered 7 shareable plates & ended up absolutely stuffed! Everything was great, it was hard to pick a favorite...Would definitely recommend adding the crispy Jamón wherever it's an option, we added it to the bombas & it was SO good! The cocktails were as delicious as they were beautiful. Never had an old fashioned served with manchego, but it was a great pairing! Warning on food and price! Sister restaurant of Bar Cecil, ordered cheapest bottle of bubbles $70 and the shrimp appetizer $38 for 5 extremely over cooked shrimp. Asked if they could fire up 5 more shrimp not overcooked and the next round had 1 shrimp not overcooked. The servicer was nice and couldn't believe they messed it up again and agreed on the over cooking. The broth and bread was good though. Manager seemed to be a little out of his league and wanted to stand at the front with 2 hosts already standing, not busy at all. We've been going to Del Rey since they opened. It's long been on our list of recommended spots for friends and family and we are locals. Tonight we walked out of Del Rey before we even ordered because the prices are frankly appalling. $40 for 2 chicken skewers, $29 for artichokes? We dine frequently and some of the most expensive spots in PS but I think Del Rey has really taken things too far with its new menu pricing. It's such a shame as the staff are friendly and the ambiance here is incredible. I hope the restaurant can come to its senses and revisit the menu and it's in sane pricing. A hidden gem! Five of us walked in without a reservation, and they were so kind to put together some tables to accommodate. We sat on the patio which had heaters on when it got chilly. Lovely lush green garden vibes. We enjoyed appetizers and cocktails, the waitress was such a delight. Del rey is a sexy little fashion restaurant tucked away in a neighborhood hotel. It has both 70s bohemian vibes and full Lyndon rock and roll. The tapas is delicious, with the stand out being the croqueta and short rib empanadas. They had a great patio where I saw some dogs! But you wanna sit inside, it's really the sexy vibe. Sadly the service here is not great. I would like to think they just don't have enough people on staff because when our server did make it to us they were lovey and attendant. But getting them to actually get to our table was a struggle and really took away from our meal. read more

The restaurant recently changed its menu-likely due to Summer being off season-but we were surprised they removed certain things that seemed like a signature of the restaurant. Our server remembered us from dining there in the past, and he was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Certain things could be improved upon like the bombas was served with melted cheese but I had assumed the manchego would be slices of fresh cheese. The only salad option on the menu now is the baby arugula with smoked mozzarella. It would be nice to have a savory option without fruit. The bread was freshly baked, and served with a quality olive oil but could not replace their meat and cheese board that sadly is no longer a menu option. The decor was renovated a while back, and is still dark and cozy but I am uncertain why they decided to change it in the first place? If the original menu and decor were perfect, then it seems a shame to change it to something less than what it was originally. read more

Pleasant dinner experience. Yes, it's dark but I didn't think it was too dark by any means. The lighting is soft and intimate. Of course the tapas are going to be more expensive than traditional tapas in Spain where you could probably get $10 for a whole meal rather than $10 for a single plate. But this isn't Spain! It's a boutique hotel in Palm Springs, what do you expect? We tried the patatas bravas (my favorite type of tapas), the dates, gazpacho, charcuterie, and albondigas. Between two people it was plenty to feel satisfied. The chorizo and tomato mixed with oil on the charcuterie was heavenly. The gazpacho was okay but it did grow on me throughout the meal. Patatas bravas are made different everywhere you go and I still enjoyed it here at Del Rey. The sauce can make or break it! Love to find hidden places like this in our Valley so I'd say I will be back. read more

I love spanish tapas. Their food tasted good. Our server was really nice and cater to our needs properly (just forgot their names, they were two girls w one of them shadowing the other one).
