Even though I don't do it, it's worth noting that the main difference is that Del Taco has, besides MexiAmerican food, it also features burgers & fries. Location specific: Newbury Park ========================= I used to work at Amgen (5 years, 2009-2014), and would occasionally come here for a breakfast burrito &/or a quesadilla &/or beef taco &/or bean & cheese burrito -- and since, only sporadically when in the area and need a quick fix. They have a fast drive-thru, that at most, has 1 car ahead in line. Not the worst del taco... the food was solid... I was surprised at the portion sizes (a little above average). My food was pretty good, two half pounds with no cheese... dig the beans here more than taco bell or other fast food "Mexican" style chains and the red sauce is a pinch of magic. The bathrooms were decent and so was most of the inside with the one exception of a messy mild sauce basket on the table that had an exploded packet inside. The messed up my friends order... made him a new burger and let him keep the other one... they were all pretty friendly and helpful. First time ever in a Del Taco - didn't expect the incredible flavor of these tacos and burritos! Honestly, the tacos were crispy, the ingredients tasted fresh, and they had numerous options. We tried the beef, the bean, and the Beyond Meat; all were super tasty. Bean and cheese burrito was piping hot with melting cheese, refried beans, and your choice of green or red sauce. First I'd like to say this is not the employees fault they only have 2 there with a very long line. I'm not going to blame them for lack of employees but Del Taco needs more employees on at night! I will NEVER go back as long as I live! I spent exactly 49 minutes in this drive thru!!!! Who has time for all that!?? My car took 14 minutes alone!! Employees were friendly so that was good. But they seemed to struggle with getting our order correct. My food was mediocre. Cheese quesadilla, was okay. Macho French fries were super salty. Guacamole fish tacos, only one taco had guacamole and the other was smothered in sour cream. In our group someone ordered French fries and had to go back. The crunchy tacos tonight were on our mind as we started our drive up the 101 (needed different scenery than I-5) on our way back to husband's house. We filled the tank next door to this DT, then decided to go in and eat before getting back on the road. The kid at the counter was friendly, tables were clean. The women's bathroom door lock was broken but I'm not shy so I chanced it. Luckily the store was pretty empty and I was the only woman interested in the restroom. The chocolate shake was as good as the one we had last night. So good! Tacos were almost as good as the ones last night. A little inconsistent on portions of meat and cheese between our 6 crunchy tacos. Some had little meat (which I like) and some had little lettuce and tons of meat... Still very good. I love DT. I wish we had them closer to me at home. Their lettuce is always fresh, you get more cheese than Taco Bell, and the meat is better. I think DT would do really well in the Bay Area. read more

Most ghetto Del Taco I have ever been to. I forgot to write a review back in March of 2018. Basically, ordered a few carne asada burritos, chicken tacos, some fries, and a bean & cheese burrito. They really skimp our the meat. For the tacos, I had at most two baby meat all size chicken and beef. The taco was okay. They put a lot of the dried shredded cheddar cheese. What's the point of that? The fries are okay. Not a lot of lettuce inside. The bean & cheese burrito was more like 90% tortilla, 8% mashed beans and 2% of maybe cheese? Anyway, we ate outside and it was bad for my friend and me. Some lady ran over her daughters foot with her car on purpose. Her bf was trying to contact 911. I eat here quite often with my fiancé. Occasionally our order is a little messed up, or my value tacos have barely any cheese, but overall it's a great restaurant.
