I'm super disappointed how each visit keeps getting slower and slower at the drive thru. Last time fries were extremely old and not worth it. This time I asked if they were fresh. She sounded unsure, but said, "I think so" still in my car so I'm not sure what the verdict will be. fingers crossed it will all be perfect. They seemed short staffed. Lady is working the drive thru and the customers inside. So fries tasted like they microwaved them not a win for me today. DO NOT EAT HERE! Walked in at 2pm on a Sunday, there were dirty tables, trays staked high on the full trash bins and the floors were unattended too as well. Being out-of-towners we decided to take a chance. They had "No Ice".. I like Del Taco too much. They have a good menu, good food for a chain, and I've had good service overall. This one was typical. The person taking our order was friendly. She seemed to enjoy working the job, instead of just standing there, making sure the floor didn't float to the ceiling. I ordered the fish tacos meal, and my buddy ordered the Double Del meal--extra macho or some such, which made me laugh at the name of their upsizing bit. I had asked about whether the sauce in the fish tacos was based on mayonnaise, and she looked it up on the register, and only found "special sauce", which I asked to be removed. My buddy didn't want tomatoes on the sandwich. She went on to take someone else's order and didn't give us our cups. We're not the kind of people to put our mouths under the soda fountain, so I waited for that order to be finished, and reminded her about the cups. She said something like "Oh, I have a problem handing out cups." and grinned. They called our order number and I got the food. Thankfully, they included the items we asked to be removed. It's fast food. It's better than Taco Bell "run for the border" and the other two fast food places that have clowns " Ronald and the twerp named Jack that lives in a box." The staff is very nice, locals so to be expected... Taco Tuesday has three tacos for $1.29 and if your a tight-wad you can order from their $1 dollar menu. My friend likes (food) diversity so he orders five different one dollar items at the Thousand Oaks Del Taco and eats half and tosses the other half in the basura. Only in America can you toss food. In Donald Trumps' words "that's what makes America Great" Lastly, I was a trail angel (just on a few occasions) for a few PCT thru-hikers and I took one of them over to Del Taco since I had a cheesy,glossy coupon for DT. They allowed him to use the single coupon multiple times, which was nice of the staff, despite the fact that there was a 1 limit item. He ended up taking several items with him "to-go", since their is no drive-ins on the pacific coast trail. Apparently, these hikers prefer to hike at night when it's cooler and not as much water is needed. Water is heavy to carry 3,500 miles day after day. He was either from the East or Colorado, but mentioned that where he is from there are no Del Tacos. To him the Del taco Midnight feast was like cuisine food. I guess when you eat snack crap on the trail (Oreo cookies, high calorie snack bars, scooping the peanut butter jar, tuna fish and crackers) Del Taco is tasting pretty good. read more

We waited in line for about 40 min. There was 4/5 cars in front of us. When they finally took our order for 4 of their Del tacos. I told the young man taking our order 3 times we wanted sour cream on our tacos. I said, make sure we get the sour cream! They have forgotten it before. Well no sour cream on any of our tacos. Plus they included a hamburger with our order. We didn't order a hamburger, plus we didn't get a receipt. So I have no idea if we paid for the burger or not. Plus I asked for mild taco sauce. They gave us 13 packets. I'm guessing they are working without a manager. Service was terrible as well as the tacos were very bland! I use to love del taco but everytime I go there at 8am they always tell me that they are open at 9am the next day but their website says they open at 8am everyday. We are fairly frequent Del Taco guests. We just about passed on this location due to the low ratings. Glad we didn't as the food was on point and the customary goodness we expect. The only comment I can make that wasn't 5 star was the speed of the food coming out. The drive thru was really busy the whole time we were there with 4-6 cars on queue. The associate that gave us our tray apologized for the wait so the fact that it was realized is a good sign. The two counter gals we dealt with were both personable and provided good service. However, the Tehachapi store leaves a lot to be desired in the service category. A week ago, I stopped by at 3:10 pm on a Saturday afternoon thinking I could get some of their new Quesadilla Tacos. The drive thru had four cars ahead of me, so I pulled in behind the last car. And waited. And waited. And waited. Thirty minutes later, I finally got to the ordering speaker, but did not see the item I wanted on their faded, falling down menu. I ordered 6 Quesadilla Tacos, only to be informed they aren't doing those yet. Having already waited thirty minutes and three cars behind me, I ordered some alternative tacos. And waited. And waited. It took 45 minutes before I was on my way home. This place has never been known for their quick or friendly service, which is a shame since their food really is good.
