Se habla español. I've been to many "mexican" restaurants where the food was not authentic. Taco Samich is the real deal. Generous portions. Sports on the TV. Real salsa. The food is absolutely delicious and very authentic. The conversation you can have here are out of this world "like their food". I just wish more people came to eat here. The noise is quite low and you dont really hear much except the kitchen. By any other means would 100% recommend. read more

Ordered daily special of fish&chips...by far the worst burnt, over cooked soaked in grease supposed fish I have ever been served. It was on a togo order so by the time I drove back to work it was too late to return for refund. So I paid $15 for fries. I tried this place after going hiking for the day. Service was friendly. Like others have mentioned, refills on drinks are not free. The restaurant itself felt pretty warm and muggy compared to outside, so I decided to order to go. I ordered the 3 taco combo with 2 carne asada tacos and one chicken. The meat on the tacos was extremely dry so you absolutely need to add salsa to moisten things up a bit. They accidentally gave me 2 chicken tacos and 1 carne asada, which is not a huge deal, but with everything else the experience was just mediocre. Nothing was really bad or anything. But I feel like for the price you pay, you can go elsewhere and probably get a much better experience and free refills. But if I was going to have to do take-out anyways, I might give the place another shot someday and try ordering something other than tacos. read more

I have been to Taco Samich a handful times in the years I have lived here. It has never thrilled me at each of my visits. The times I ate here before I wasn't Yelping, so I can't say what happened and why I didn't frequent this restaurant. My daughter wanted chicken taquitos for dinner. I would have in the past went to Don Perico to grab dinner for her. Due to the fact that Don Perico has gone downhill I wasn't sure where to go. My friend said to come here that the taquitos are delicious. Girl working the front was nice and took our order right away. Our order consisted of: 3 chicken Taquitos topped with cheese and came with sour cream and guacamole Carnitas Burrito Bean and cheese Burrito Everything is extra here so no chips and salsa. They are VERY strict with their salsa, they hand you a very small container and lid and you can pick the salsa you want, no extras unless you pay. When I got home I cut the carnitas burrito in half and mostly what I saw was beans. I was hoping, once I started eating it there would be more meat in it. That was not the case. I should have just ordered the bean and cheese burrito. 3 stars for my burrito. I would not order it again or even recommend it. My daughter enjoyed her taquitos and had no complaints. Said it was 4 stars. My son ate his burrito and enjoyed it. I was told by another friend that she enjoys the carnitas tacos. So, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Honestly I can't say that I would eat her again. I will go to Bakersfield to Agave if I am wanting yummy Mexican food. read more

We ordered take-out, and got a bunch of tacos. The best thing about the tacos was the salsa. Unfortunately, the salsa was not redeeming enough to make the tacos good. The meat was so dry and in very large chunks - it was extremely difficult to chew & swallow. The ladies working the register were nice. The salsa was good! read more

The only good Mexican food in Tehachapi. 1 or 2 other sit-down restaurants in town do passable Mexican food. Taco Samich is the legit spot.

Been here about 5 times over the last few years and to be honest, it is just okay. Gave them a few chances to see if we just hit a bad day. The items seem to have no real flavor other than hot. Their portion size is good but with no real flavor so we won't be back. read more

I've been to Tacos Samich many times in the past and was in the area visiting, so I thought I'd try it again. A new item was in the menu/ board. Puffy Taco. Kinda of like a Chalupa/Indian Taco thing. But stuffed with your choice of meat. So good. Can't go wrong with an order of their home made beans. Delicious. A small selection of beer and of course they have Horchata. Great food! I've lived in Tehachapi over 20 years and Tacos Samich has always provided excellent food. This is a vary casual restaurant, lots of take-out. They have a Chili Colorado that takes your breath away!! Since the pandemic they have restricted the salsa portions. I guess that makes sense business wise, but only one salsa container/burrito is a little slim. And their red salsa is to die for!!! BTW, the green is killer too! I love this place and the fact they are a local small business makes me very happy. Try Tacos Samich, you'll love it. read more

I have given this place 2 chances, and today was the final straw. I ordered a Carne Asada Torta pretty much. It was a bean sandwich

Let me start off by saying if you want bottomless chips and salsa and being able to sit down and get your order taken after you've contemplated between a burrito or chimichanga, this place probably isn't for you. There are plenty of tables, but it seems more like a fast food joint or maybe great for the takeout orders. BTW, chips and salsa is $4.00 (on a styrofoam plate). They had 3 different types of salsa--red, green, and typical salsa. The food isn't that bad. Not the best Chile Relleno I've had, in fact didn't really care for the sweetness in it. Kind of threw me off a bit. Luckily I have 3 kids with 3 different appetites, so I got to try 4 different things, well 5 to include my husbands meal. I think the chimichanga was the best out of what we ordered---fried, can't go wrong with fried. Between the kids orders, I got to try the beef burrito (it was spicy, but we were warned), the chicken burrito (lots of chicken and onions), and the hamburger and fries (seasoned with something good). The burritos were gigantic, kinda fell apart, maybe cause it was packed with meat. Overall, not bad. Service was fast. Seat yourself, serve yourself. read more

Ok well I have a grand motivation to review tacos sammich today. I'm sitting here in the dining room with my wife after having a couple burritos. I have been here before and had tacos. Although the tacos were decent enought to bring us back I did forget a small issue aboyt the place that irked me. Ill get to that after I review the food. Chili colorado burrito: I had this one, bright red colorado sauce and the meat is shredded finely. Not much else in the burrito though. The taste was good, nice spicy flavor in ther red sauce. I was not impressed though as it did not have real cheese on it, or maybe it was real cheese but it tasted and looked like pre shredded cheese from a bag. I don't agree with restaurants using pre shredded cheese. It totally threw off the burrito which otgerwise could have been good. Burrito FAIL in my opinion. Asada burrito: tasted ok but when I tried it the whole bite was beans. Is I type this and ask her about it she is rattling off chain burrito places left and right that beat this burrito to shreds. When chain burritos win against a local "authentic" taqueria you have problems. Burrito 2 FAIL!!! Ok so now that I have the burritos out of the way let's get to the salsa bar experience. They have about 3 salsa and some other bits like peppers radish etc. Salsa bar clenliness: dirty!!! Most the salsa were close to empty and nothing wiped down. I felt like scooping from untouched sections of salsa for fear of getting contaminates involved. Here is the kicker. When we received our burritos my wife wanted to sample each of their salsas. This is usually not a problem but here they have an embargo on paying customers and their need for separate salsa cups. My wife was rudely directed to a impersonal sign o. The wall saying "one salsa cup per customer". When she got back to the table and mentioned this it prompted me to write this review. In this dya and age the amount we paid 21+ buclks for two burritos and two negro modelos we should get a chance to grab multiple salsas from their bar. This policy they employed has made me choose to stand against this institution with all my energy. I vow to never eat a taco sammich again. I urge all others to join my crusade for free salsa and abundant salsa cups for all paying customers. I'm a human being and I have rights!!!! Just say no to salsa nazis. One star, and that's it!!!!! I'm sure the bbq joint up the street with 100 great reviews will give me an extra sauce without worry. read more

This is Tahachapi, so with that in mind, I'm going to say it's decent. The fish tacos weren't extraordinarily great, but better than lots of others that I've tried. However, I would pass on the carne asada taco. It just tasted like it's been there for some time now. With little choice when I'm out of town, this place will have to do. FYI, This place is hard to spot. Their sign is so small. Just look for a house looking place on the north side of Tehachapi Blvd. read more

When I lived in Tehachapi, this was a regular lunch spot. This restaurant and its owners have been doing a fantastic job for years. I now live in South Carolina. When I come back to visit with friends, this is a must. I LOVE the bean, rice and cheese or carne asada burritos. They are huge... come hungry. This place will not disappoint. Went to Taco Superior this evening, and wasn't impressed. Taco Samich has been offering the same good tacos, though more spicy, than this new fast food taco place! Plus Taco Samich had an excellent salsa bar in the past, and hopefully can be encouraged to have it again after this pandemic (I disagree with a previous post). I don't mind asking for extra salsa or refills if I need to, but we usually don't order drinks. Wherever else you go, drinks are outrageously overpriced, so their drinks seem reasonable. They have good quesadillas and burritos as well. Also a better parking lot, better seating and overall better service. I'll go to Taco Samich over Taco Sup anytime read more

I got the carne asada fries and lengua tacos. What a disappointment especially when I paid almost $22 dollars. Asada fries had meat on them that almost crunched it was so dry. The lengua was not prepared properly and I found lots of the course part of the cow tongue. Pros: guac and Jamaica was yummy! Super disappointed because I've been craving tacos de lengua and was very disappointed. 10/10 would not recommend :( read more

This is truly a family run restaurant. The food is the best. Carne Asada burrito is always on point. Quaint and clean restaurant. If you travel through Tehachapi this a great place to stop and eat. There is no better Mexican food in Tehachapi. Las palmas has a bigger menu but lacks in quality. Domingos has the best environment but their food and service is lacking. read more

Saying that a place is that best in Tehachapi is not high praise, this town is tiny and has virtually no selection when it comes to food so best in town is not an accomplishment. Congratulations, you beat Del Taco. The food is bland and overpriced and the salsa restrictions are laughable. Only been here once as per a suggestion from a local raving about their huge burritos. I got a carnitas burrito and it was huge and I thought it was excellent. Had lots of flavor/taste to it. Would go there again. The menu board is a bit confusing to read so just grab a menu on the front counter and it is a little more helpful to read, if you have have never been here. read more

I've never been a big fan of mexican food, but this place has my business for as long as I am in this city. There is never a long wait, they are fast and courteous. The food is delicious and after eating there over a dozen times I have never had any complaints or problems. YES!!!! How have I forgotten to yelp this place???? I used to come here every day! The order: 2 Carne asada soft tacos, sour cream, guac, lettuce, onion, cilantro, & cheese... 4 bucks and the meat is incredibly flavorful! Their burritos are massive and probably toilet clogging. I miss this place but now that las barcas is in my life I can manage. I think its still cash only and this place is in an obscure spot.
