Fresh Tomato & Basil (GF penne, sausage, vegan cheese)
    Luca D.

Service and ambiance worked out well. I got the fresh tomato and basil pasta dish on GF penne, with the additions of garlic, onions, sausage, and vegan cheese. The flavors worked out, but the pasta was pretty broken and the veg was inconsistently cooked due to being unevenly cut. So it appears some dishes are better than others.

Greek panini sandwich with very salty homemade potato chips

This place is just okay. I went for a panini sandwich at lunch. Service is counter service, which was friendly and efficient. I ordered the Greek chicken panini. The panini bread itself was the highlight: it was pressed nicely and was perfectly crispy. There was a good portion of chicken deli meat on the sandwich, but there was really nothing about the sandwich that stood out and it didn't have any real Greek-style taste at all. I didn't really taste any Greek seasoning or any feta cheese. There was an olive tapenade that was overly salty. The sun dried tomato sauce was also not that good. So the sandwich overall was just okay. They serve homemade potato chips on the side. I love salty chips, but I'd have to say these chips were probably the saltiest I've ever had, past the point of being good salty and crossing into salt bomb. I may go back sometime and try their core Italian food, but at this point, they are pretty low on my list of Asheville go-to restaurants.

Del Vecchios was a recommended place in Asheville so we tried it out for a late lunch after running a few errands in town. You order at the counter and we were greeted with a smile as we came in. We ordered a meat calzone and their lasagna. We enjoyed the fresh hot food that was served with a smile from the waitress. Portions were ample and we will enjoy the leftovers later. The restaurant was clean and quiet with plenty of seating. Typical pizzeria atmosphere.

I love, love Del Vecchios food! I just personally never had dined in until today. I'm really hesitant about counter service because you don't know how it's going to go but I must say theirs is the best Ive ever had! They had a little bench that we sat at and looked over the menu. The man running the register was super nice and helpful! They bring you your food and they even came around and checked on us! We had a large garden salad for a starter. Oh my goodness that combo of fresh vegetables is amazing! I have the Baked Ziti Parm and my boyfriend got the steak and cheese with fries! Soooo good and so much food I probably have dinner for 2 days! And I'm not mad about that! Prices are great too! The restaurant has an Italian restaurant vibe with tables and booths. I like that the to go boxes were on the back wall too! AND they have a REAL Chicago style pizza so we will have to go back to try it!

    Surprisingly crispy pizza
    Wendy R.

Impromptu lunch spot next to wine store was a HUGE HIT!! The cheese sticks were crispy outside and string cheesy on the inside served with a perfect marinara! The crust on this pizza was GREAT -CRISPY and not super thin or super thick. It held the perfect amount of sauce and toppings. The cheese was the perfect blend and flavorful. Fresh, not canned mushrooms ! Sounds crazy but even the Coke was calibrated to perfection. Definitely will go back. Unexpected strip mall spot!!!

    Sheesh!

They have legitimate vegan options y'all (hopefully they consider adding a vegan-meat option at some point), but verified that the regular crust is vegan-friendly and dairy free, including the crust made for the calzones and bolis! Customize your pizza/zone/boli and you are able to add "special notes" online to notate you would like it to be prepared vegan-friendly. Highly recommend as an easy takeout option on Merrimon

Hi! When will your South Asheville location be open? Thanks.

I would like to order for pickup online, ie your website, without having to have a third party company to deliver?

What is the gluten free pasta made of?

It is made by Barilla. All ingredients are easily searchable, but I think for your purposes the answer is a combo of corn and rice.

It came with store bought, flavorless pita bread and the dip tasted like any grocery store hummus. The Caesar salad was fine but nothing to get excited about and needed more garlic. The pizza was pretty good but a little floppy except the crust. And the meatballs seemed like store bought. We asked for hot honey on the side and there was no heat to the honey. The views are amazing. And our cocktails were delicious. Definitely come for a cocktail and the view but skip the food. I was satisfied with the pizza but it wasn't anything to really rave over. The salad was big - mostly chopped lettuce (love that it was chopped already) topped with some cheese, olives, green peppers and tomato slices. Lots of cheese on top. I preferred the pizza over the breadsticks over the 2 visits I had 3 types of slices. For speciality slices they top a slice of cheese with the toppings then bake it so the toppings aren't baked down into the cheese. Still good. The Roman squares are made of a thick dough that looks like focaccia but is both lighter and crispier. They come in single 5" by 7" rectangles (spuntino, $8-$10), 5" by 13" pies (mezzo, $15-$19), or 9" x 13" party size portions (tutto, $30-$38). While you can build your own custom pizza, the default options include a Calabrian with pepper jam, a funghi & charred tomato, a sfincione with breadcrumb topping, a patate with potato cream, and a rotating special. A few dips, an arugula salad, cauliflower cacio pepe, and meatballs are also available. Wanting a few slices to commemorate Pi Day, my wife and I shared a Calabrian, a funghi & charred tomato, and a daily special. Ordering was easy, and Terra Nova's "green industrial" vibe (check out that moss wall) made for interesting ambiance. Our pizza was not cheap, but it was very satisfying, and Mission uses high-quality ingredients. The Calabrian offered a good combination of sweet and spicy while the funghi & charred tomato delivered creamy (ricotta) and smoky. The crust was done perfectly: crisp without being overly charred. There are many places in Asheville where you can grab a pizza and a beer, but none can offer you the same experience that Mission does. So we walked into Luminosa underdressed, absolutely soaking wet, and looking like we had just been rescued from a shipwreck. This is a really nice restaurant, so at this point I was pretty convinced either we weren't getting seated or my friends were going to spend the rest of their marriage talking about the dinner I ruined. I explained the situation to the staff and they could not have handled it better. No judgment, no making us feel out of place, nothing but an insane level of hospitality from the second we walked in. They even sent out a few dishes on the house. Our server Riley was phenomenal. Riley knew the menu inside and out, gave us all the information we needed without overexplaining everything, and never steered us wrong once. We basically put our dinner in Riley's hands, and that was probably the biggest reason the meal turned out as well as it did. And the food was fucking incredible. Not "we're drunk on a wedding weekend and everything tastes good" incredible. Every single one of us said it was one of the best meals we've ever had. And I don't say that because my culinary experience is limited to Applebee's and the Cheesecake Factory. I went to probably half the restaurants on the Michelin Guide while I was in Asheville, live in Atlanta where I've eaten at plenty of Michelin-recognized restaurants, and have been fortunate enough to eat at Michelin restaurants outside the US. Luminosa was still one of the best meals I've had anywhere. I walked in thinking I had completely screwed up dinner and walked out looking like a genius for picking the restaurant. I will be taking full credit for that and giving none to the tornado or Riley.
