I'm only giving 4 stars because even though the food was not bad it was just okay, nothing special, the pizza was just okay it was kind of bland but the crust was to die for. It was crusty, crunchy and light in taste very good crust. The appetizers we ordered were deep fried ravioli those had no flavor at all. The other appetizer was garlic knots were phenomenal the garlic butter over the knots were to die for. They were light and airy and drenched in melted butter and fresh garlic. Well worth the money. The waitress named Jada was nice, she seemed like she was new she asked a lot of questions but she was sweet and very nice. This place recvd a 3 star from me because the restaurant put our table at a random spot in between two bathroom doors and it was a very busy spot. We were less than 2 ft from both the woman's and men's bathroom doors. That table needs to be removed it's right in front of the kitchen and extremely close to the bathrooms. read more

I was told to come eat "Authentic New York" pizza and they delivered!! I ordered a large cheese pizza (I'm a vegetarian) and some garlic knots. When I tell you these were some of the best garlic knots I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!! I loved the pizza, it was borderline amazing!! Initially looking at this place, you will think "hole in the wall", but this place has really yummy affordable food and is conviently located across from ODU's main campus. Because of this, Del Vecchios is the beloved unofficial campus pizzeria of Old Dominion University. I remember many a broke and hungry days on campus where this affordable pizzeria saved my life. Admittedly this isn't the best pizza you will ever eat (My dad from New York loves it though), but the huge $1 pepperoni and cheese slices they serve between 2PM-5PM are famous and really come in handy; furthermore, if you come here between those hours expect this place to be packed (especially when classes are in session.) Despite being busy, their service is fairly quick. Now if you have a little bit more money in your pockets and stop off here for lunch I suggest getting the chef salad with balsamic vinaigrette or the stuffed chicken bacon ranch pizza with buffalo sauce. They're the two best things that they serve here. Furthermore, since this is a college hangout, don't come here expecting a fine dining expierence. With that being said they do have a full dining area in the back of the store where you can get served by a waiter and everything, but I've never tried it out, I hear it's a good place for a casual get together. All in all, if you're in the ODU area and looking for a place that's good, cheap, and fast with their service this is your place. read more

Ah what a disappointment. There were highs and lows with my experience here, ending with very mediocre pizza. When I called in my order, they were super friendly and said it'd take about 20 minutes. My drive was about 15, and it was ready when I arrived. Definitely a plus for this place. But the location is very... unappealing. It's clean "enough," but is more of a hole in the wall joint. The staff in person was pretty friendly as well. When I got home with my pizza, though, it smelled strongly of garlic (which could be nice!) but ended up tasting of nothing more than tomatoes, bland bread, and a lingering garlic flavor. Overall was just really bland, and my sister and husband agreed. I don't like it when local places have less flavor than chains, that's my main issue with this place. read more

I eat here or order delivery a couple of times a month but was disappointed by the latest delivery: burnt Chicken Parm sub (tasted like old frying oil), salad had dry chicken as well. To think someone looked at this obviousy burnt chicken and found it acceptable to serve discourages me from coming back. I'm from northeast Jersey. When you order a sausage peppers and onions sub with extra cheese that is what you get!!!! Here in Norfolk Virginia they cut up the sausage in little pieces and then charge you an arm and a leg! They put very little veggies on the bread and they don't give you the extra cheese you payed for! Up north they put a whole sausage on the roll! Why is this so difficult for you guys in the south? I was really disappointed with my order this time. I got a calzone and their jalapeño shrimp. The flavors were great (all stars go towards flavor), I love their sauce. The amount of food sucked. The shrimp were tasty but bite-sized, not worth the price when you only get 6. My calzone was super dissapointing. When I get a calzone, I'm usually eating off of it for at least 2 days. My go-to for lunch. The lunch deals are shockingly a great deal. I usually get the slice, salad, and soda for 6ish dollars. The pizza always impresses me. Not too greasy, a good amount of toppings, and delicious sauce. The salad is always fresh and crisp. The workers are always super nice, even when it's busy. Are the tables always clean? No. But hey...it's lunch rush where people are flocking for a great quick deal of lunch. I've eaten in the dining room once, and that was definitely clean. I've ordered 4 times from this place. Delivery every time. They always give you a delivery time that they beat by 15-20 minutes. The people who answer the phone are on their game! Tonight the girl who answered told me that ordering extra cheese in the deep dish wouldn't net me any extra cheese as it's already stuffed full. I appreciated that heads up! She also asked if I want dips with my kids chicken finger meal. I totally would've forgotten. The crazy thing is they actually remember to pack them! The food: SOOOOOOOO amazing! The deep dish pizza is just as good as something my husband has had in Chicago. The eggplant parm entree is crispy, perfectly breaded, flavorfully sauced and extra cheesy. I've traded Ynot pizza delivery of eggplant parm for this place. See my other reviews and you'll know why. The price point is also very appealing! I fed three people for less than 28 bucks last time I ordered, including dessert! The delivery drivers are also super clean and organized. This was one of those places that has been around for a good long while, and yet I kind of wonder how or why. I guess being right by the college campus (ODU) as well as near where a lot of roadwork is being done, it looks to get the bulk of their business from these two groups of people...although this was my first eat in experience since college...so who am I to judge?! However, if you are looking for a quick bite to eat nearby and your just plain hungry, this wouldn't be a bad place to purchase a slice of pizza to go! They seem to have a wide variety of pizza types and ingredients (NY style and Chicago style as well as a whole plethora of toppers) so most could easily find something they would like to eat here. I asked around my class for where to go get pizza. I was pointed here because it was less then one min away. So, good spot. The host was quite nice and put up with my odd order. The food was quick and a good amount. Issue? I was told that they are better then Dominos but under hand tossed NY pizza. That was the perfect description. The cheese had no grease, the sauce was... different and the crust tasted a little undercooked. The salad on the other hand was banging! They also offered a lunch menu till 5. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I will try once more for the pizza. Otherwise I will just go here for salad. UPDATE!!!! I went again and gave them that second chance. Stood there for 15 min with no one paying attention to me. A guy next to me was waiting longer, he ended up finding one of the cooks to send someone our way. Small kid came out, took our orders and brought out my salad and our drinks with a smile. Issues is that he disappeared. Turns out he wasn't our waiter but the cashier helping out our waiter. Our waiter was the guy bent over the table across the way hitting on the two pretty girls. When me and the guy at the other table we're looking for our tickets, no one responded. I ended up going to one of the cooks that were running in out to ask who and where or waiter was. The words I used was "is our waiter he kid or the a$$" not even meaning it as an insult but I literally pointed and all you saw was butt hanging in the air while he had been leaning on the table hitting on those girls. She had him bring us our tickets and I asked for a box. He had done NOTHING for me other then bring me this. I signed my ticket and was about to walk away when he said "let me leave this here for you to fill out". I hadn't put a tip and he was pointing that out. He hadn't gotten or done ANYTHING FOR ME. I ended up putting a big zero and finding that kid, who had just been helping, and giving him a cash tip. Also, a salad that was labeled as 5.99 in the menu I ended up paying 8.99 for. No drink just a bumped up price. I will eat anywhere other then here. If you want quick/cheep pizza and don't care about your tummy or the way you are handled this is the place to go. We have been regular customers of this place for a decade. Everyone makes mistakes, and usually when they have in the past they have made it right. Tonight they brought wings sauced even though I confirmed several times I wanted sauce on the side. No big deal, but when I called they told me they needed the sauced wings back to bring me my correct order. Don't need to explain how disgusting that is that they were evidently going to re-serve those wings to someone else. They were extremely rude about it as well. Even spoke to the manager, who was the rudest of the bunch. I have never heard of a restaurant demanding food back they they delivered incorrectly and not just making it right. Good local spot in the cut. They have a takeout and dine-in section. It wasn't packed. The food came out really quick and was pretty good. No complaints. It's a spot to go to if you're craving pasta, but don't want to pay a lot for a decent dish. The portions as y'all can see are really big, so that's always a plus. read more

Wanted to try the Chicago style stuffed pizza, and it did not disappoint! Was able to call and order pick up-- ready in 30 minutes on the dot. We added pepperoni which made it very greasy (think we would just do cheese next time). But the sauce on top was garlicky and delicious! They also have Brooklyn style pizza and NY style stuffed (lattice crust on top) in addition to apps, pasta, and more. Was slightly pricey ($23) for just the one stuffed pizza but one piece was so filling so plenty for leftovers! Definitely will be back! I used to go here all the time back when i was at ODU; so as i was sitting at work, hungry , debating on what to eat . I came across them on grubhub & decided to go ahead & place an order for old times sake. Now I always ate their pizza but never had anything else off of their menu. So i decided to go ahead & try the chicken Alfredo. On grubhub it said i would receive my order around 3:15... around 2:30 I'm sitting at my desk when all of a sudden i hear my name... it was my food! I was very impressed with the deliver. Then when i opened up my bag i found a piece of folder aluminum foil on top of my take out box. Now when i was placing my order i was debating on whether or not i wanted to get garlic knots but decided not to because well you know ... carbs. So i just ordered the pasta, but while i was waiting for my food i was quickly regretting that decision , but of course they save the day & my pasta came with garlic bread ! So i open up my take out box & my pasta looks amazing & it tasted amazing ! Place was pretty busy and quite full, but to be honest that was a key indicator to me that the food and service must be amazing; intuition confirmed! I had ordered the bacon cheese fries, and a custom 3 topping 14" NY stuffed pizza (for next days meal of course). The portion of the bacon cheese fries were more than fair for the price, with that perfect amount of goey cheese dressed in bacon bits. The crust of the pizza has that tender slight crunch mouth feel that you get from those big pizza ovens of love. I would recommend this restaurant to not only those that are traveling like myself, but to locals that have not had the opportunity to get food from this establishment. A must go!! read more
