I moved away from the area for some time and tried a ton of different Indian places. However, nothing even comes close to comparing to Delhi. I ALWAYS get the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Biryani with boneless chicken. I HIGHLY recommend getting both. The Tikka Masala sauce goes SO well with the Chicken Biryani. However, even the mild Biryani is pretty darn spicey so beware. I love spice but the Biryani is SPICEY. But it's amazing together. My boyfriend is a huge fan of the Chicken 65. Overall the place is a little pricey. However, the amount of chicken you get with the Chicken 65 is darn well worth the price. read more

There's no shortage of good Indian establishments in the New Brunswick and Edison areas. So when I started working nearby I knew I was not gonna have a hard time finding some spots. Delhi Garden became one of my favorites to have a quick fix of some Desi goodness. With good flavors, good portions, and inexpensive prices this place is a great find. I usually make my stop on the way home to pick up dinner along with a snack to hold me over for the long drive ahead. My usual is their version of chicken and rice platter. Now it's evident that they can not remotely come close to how good the ones are in the city, but for a small place in Edison that's on my way back home and $7.00 for a huge amount of food, you just can't beat it. The white sauce and red sauce covering the food gives it the right amount of balance and flavor, but as I've said it doesn't really blow your mind like the cart in NYC. I've also had their chicken tikka masala and saag paneer and both are quite delicious. It could use a little more spice in my opinion but I'm just nitpicking. Now as for the snack I was talking about I always get an order of either a vegetable samosa or the one with meat. It really depends on what I'm craving that day. Regardless both preparations are done perfectly with flaky dough and flavorful filling. It's great for the munchies when I'm stuck in traffic on the GSP. As for the place itself this is more of a take-out or delivery joint that a sit-down. Don't expect to eat here because quite frankly the space is so small. Just have a seat on their comfy sofa, wait for your food, and jump quickly into your car when you get it because the sooner you get home the sooner that amazing smelling grub will get into your belly. Like I said in the beginning there are certainly no shortage of Indian restaurants around the area but Delhi Garden ranks among my fav and that's why I keep stopping by. read more

Delhi Garden is our go to Indian delivery place. We moved here recently and never thought we could find an Indian restaurant as good as the one in our home town, until we found Delhi Garden. Everything I have eaten is just delicious. My personal favorite and go to dish is, of course, the Chicken Tikka Masala. My veggie bf loves their Aloo Gobi. Solid and cheap takeout if you really have that Indian food craving.

I updated them from 4 to 5 stars after the owners explained the whole rice situation a day after I posted my review. I just have to ask for rice in separate bowls and everthing is good to go. All in all a great little take out Indian spot and the owners aim to please! Previous review: Welcome to my review of the super close by good Indian place. I had taken a break from this place for a while after ordering 2 orders of Tikka Masala and only getting one order of rice. I can't be certain if it was a mistake or intention, but either way it bothered me and was a huge bummer. To circumvent this my gf and I placed separate orders. So on this most recent visit I only ordered 1 order of Tikka Masala and an order of Naan. Everything is really pretty good, no frills, Americanized Indian food. The portions are always pretty generous too. For around ~15 bucks I'm always able to get 2 meals out of my order. That's a win in my book. As an aside, they were unpacking a very large crate when I was there. I'm pretty sure it had an elephant inside. Keep me posted if you hear anything. read more

Delhi Garden has amazing food, the staff is pleasant, and they prepare everything super fresh and fast. If you know your indian food, they are also willing to make things for you that are not listed on the menu. I wouldn't suggest having delivery simply because they require you to spend a certain amount of money depending on the mileage they need to travel to get to you. But because they can prepare your meals so quickly, I normally go on in, order and wait for everything. Wow! That was a really good meal with no complaints. Gotta +1 Yelp once again! Take out and delivery Indian food. Yes, there is seating inside, but I would only eat in if you're shoveling food down by yourself. When the gf and I stopped inside, we were surprised to see there was no real dining area. Luckily, their delivery range is pretty good. It does reach New Brunswick, but requires a minimum. The samosas were big and quite tasty. Perfectly browned and crunchy outside with a spicy, mushy filling inside. For those not familiar, they're basically empanadas. And at this place, adult fist size each. And you get two of them. I wish I worked in the area. During lunch, I'd be ordering these at least once a week. The stewed food was good. Chicken cooked perfectly. It breaks apart perfectly, and guess what? Seasoned real good. I love it when a place is easy to review. Chicken kathi rolls were also very delicious. These are very spicy. And the spice here stays for a while. Just a warning to the lightweights. The service was very welcoming. The one guy even made someone, who I assume was the delivery boy, get off the couch so we can sit down while our food was being made. They also let us try their besan ladoo (sweet almost and chickpea flour ball). In fact, that was also so good, we picked up an order of that one to go. We stopped here on our way to Boston.. Its basically a To-Go place but when we requested them on siting there , they were very generous . Infact they got us chairs and proper plates. Very Impressive customer service !! The food was awesome.. The best one was Chicken Korma..The sauce was creamy and with the right amount of spices. Dehli Garden is a take-out place, not a dine-in restaurant. That said, it has the *best* Indian takeout food in the area. I really wanted to like this cute little restaurant. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The lamb bhuna and the pakora veggie fritters were delicious. A couple hours after eating my meal I began to have stomach pain. It lasted all night as I tossed and turned. Today I cannot eat anything. I know food poisoning is hard to pinpoint, but I didn't eat anything else last evening. I do hope that others don't have a similar experience as this restaurant has great food. read more

Pleasantly surprised! It's a humbly located takeout restaurant with dedicated staff and artisan creations. I've had almost every single dish here and with the exception of a few that just weren't to my taste (my roommate happily polished em off) have declared each one "my favorite." each dish is exceptionally made. if you've never had indian food this is the place to come for the first time. if you eat indian food often this is the place to come often! get a mango lassi to keep your mouth cool--it's sweet, creamy, and natural tasting. the aloo papri chat, a glorious appetizer, is made with a crisped potato kind of dumpling and chickpeas with mint chutney and yoghurt drizzled on top. heaven in your mouth for $4. malai kofta is an interesting veggie-only dish: delicate home-made cottage cheese dumpling filled with vegetables, bathing in rich gravy. the meat in the popular dishes--tikka masala, korma, vindaloo is always succulent. the sauces are made with a light touch, never too cloying. the owners are cool and friendly and it just feels good getting food from there. the price is very good for all the food you get; it'll easily last 2 meals. just perk up if you're drivin there--it's hard to find the first time, tucked away near a corner on rt. 27 with its small restaurant sign mashed between other bigger signs. you don't want to miss this place. read more

It's a hole in the wall, easy to miss, and looks pretty shady until you step inside. My friend and I were planning to get take out to eat in a more pleasant setting, but after we sat outside to wait for our order, we stopped noticing the cars whizzing by on 27 and decided to stay. The food was so delicious. I always get the same first meal at Indian places for comparison, which is vegetable korma and samosa. I felt full after clearing my plates, but had zero indigestion, which means they're probably using fresh, high quality ingredients (or lacing the food with antacid...?). Service was very friendly. Mmmm... A lovely orange cream- colored curry with an almond sauce base and big tender pieces of boneless chicken. The word Korma is derived from the Hindi and Urdu words for "braised" which is the main cooking technique for this dish. Dating back as far as the 16th century, Korma can be traced to the Mughal incursions into present day Northern India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. This Indian staple makes my heart full and warm. I absolutely love the sauce. Even after I devour all the chicken... the sauce mixed with rice makes another hearty meal for another day. For the vegetarians, I recommend the Aloo Gobhi, a dry mixture of potatoes, cauliflower, and spices. How such simplicity in ingredients bring out the fullest flavor, I am unable to say. It makes a great accompaniment to chicken korma! Also, try the Dahl Makhani, described as being "...creamed lentils delicately cooked overnight on low heat finished with butter, garnished with cream with herbs." Now, I was a bit hesitant to try this dish as a non lentil-enthusiast... but it completely blew me away! The lentils were not mushy as I thought they would be but possessed a lovely balance of firm and tender in its texture. I just moved to Highland Park and decided to try this place during my move-in as I was starving. This place is exactly the answer for starving souls who need good serving as well as tasty food. I went there two days in a row and both times had the vegetarian lunch-box. Both times the service was prompt, food piping hot and the spices were just right. Having grown up in Delhi, I am pleased to see a Delhi-ite who runs a restaurant efficiently and is polite and nice to customers. Since moving to Edison from Hoboken, we haven't been able to find a legit good Indian place (Akbar is pretty good, but nothing special and definitely overpriced). So of course, I come onto Yelp for the reviews. I'm glad I listened to you guys! First off, the food is inexpensive.... and delicious. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my man got the lamb rogan josh. Naan wasn't greasy, raita was yum, and the samosas - wow (I got meat, he got veggie). We were so impressed! This is def our new Indian spot... close and quick, and the guy taking the order/at the counter was very courteous. One other bonus: if you pay in cash, you get $4 off your price. Stopped in cause I can smell the food outside. Small place for p/u. No tables just a big orange couch to sit and wait. 25 min wait on food. Don't mind waiting, this place pumps out the orders. Reasonable prices. Can't wait to try the food. Soup naan rice and chicken mal mal. The food is northern India... I usually eat southern but I don't mind. Get to try the different style of cooking. Biryani rice comes with raita. Be sure to check food before leaving. I always do anyways. Parking is better in the back then in front. Door is constantly opening cause it gets buisy. Just got the Amritsari Fish & Goat Chop Masala for dinner. Fish looked good it could have been better if it was cocked little more crispy & less coated with chickpeas flour. The Goat Chop Masala curry was good could have been better if little thicker & constant not watery. This is first time we ordered fish & goat other times the food have always been excellent. One of the best places for Indian cuisine. I have tried most of the stuff from their menu and it is spectacular. The best part is that the curries (unlike some other Indian joints) don't taste the same. From dhaba chicken to chicken korma they have distinct taste and flavor. The kebabs are to die for, my personal favorite is bihari kebab followed by lassoni kebab but they all are finger licking good. I rarely write yelp reviews, but really want to write one after my experience last night at Delhi Garden. The service was friendly, accommodating, and gracious. The food was flavorful and fresh for very reasonable pricing. The menu is good for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. I do not understand any of the poor reviews of this place - (a) every place will have occasional bad days (b) it's a small place cranking out tons of delivery and to-go, how can anything not be fresh when flying out the door at such a constant and rapid pace? My favorites include Mal Mal Kabab Seekh kabab CTM (Chicken tikka masala) less cream and salt kadai goat and chicken. black daal the place is a small takeout and undoubtedly one of Edison's hidden gems. The most delicious and inexpensive Indian restaurant I have tried in New Jersey. The chicken tikka masala is the best I've ever had. It is much spicier and flavorful than usual. The rice was excellent. The mango lassi was also one of the best I've had. I also wanted to sit and eat inside, but apparently this place is strictly take-out and delivery. There is a table inside, but it has a tv on top and we felt a little weird about eating there. We just took the food to our car and ate. Very delicious. I would make the 40-minute drive again from Princeton to get more food here. read more

Excellent flavor and great service. We have always done take out here and never once have they disappointed. House favorites include saag mutton curry, methi chicken curry in gravy and chicken Tikka , lasooni kabab and Mal Mal kabab in starters.
