Yes, there is seating inside, but I would only eat in if you're shoveling food down by yourself. When the gf and I stopped inside, we were surprised to see there was no real dining area. Luckily, their delivery range is pretty good. It does reach New Brunswick, but requires a minimum. The samosas were big and quite tasty. Perfectly browned and crunchy outside with a spicy, mushy filling inside. For those not familiar, they're basically empanadas. And at this place, adult fist size each. And you get two of them. I wish I worked in the area. During lunch, I'd be ordering these at least once a week. The stewed food was good. Chicken cooked perfectly. It breaks apart perfectly, and guess what? Seasoned real good. I love it when a place is easy to review. Chicken kathi rolls were also very delicious. These are very spicy. And the spice here stays for a while. Just a warning to the lightweights. The service was very welcoming. The one guy even made someone, who I assume was the delivery boy, get off the couch so we can sit down while our food was being made. They also let us try their besan ladoo (sweet almost and chickpea flour ball). In fact, that was also so good, we picked up an order of that one to go. We stopped here on our way to Boston.. Its basically a To-Go place but when we requested them on siting there , they were very generous . Infact they got us chairs and proper plates. We ordered vegetable korma, mulligatawny soup, chicken tikka with their 'special' salad, and one of the new york style chicken and rice platters. I love original new york c&r and their version is comparable, more Indian spiced if you will. the veggie korma was also delicious, as well as the soup and chicken. I really wanted to like this cute little restaurant. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The lamb bhuna and the pakora veggie fritters were delicious. A couple hours after eating my meal I began to have stomach pain. It lasted all night as I tossed and turned. Today I cannot eat anything. It's a hole in the wall, easy to miss, and looks pretty shady until you step inside. My friend and I were planning to get take out to eat in a more pleasant setting, but after we sat outside to wait for our order, we stopped noticing the cars whizzing by on 27 and decided to stay. The food was so delicious. I always get the same first meal at Indian places for comparison, which is vegetable korma and samosa. I felt full after clearing my plates, but had zero indigestion, which means they're probably using fresh, high quality ingredients (or lacing the food with antacid...?). Service was very friendly. It's spotless inside. Not a lot of sitting room, really a takeout place. Pretty cheap, too. Check when it's open, because there's a mid-afternoon break. read more

Mmmm... A lovely orange cream- colored curry with an almond sauce base and big tender pieces of boneless chicken. The word Korma is derived from the Hindi and Urdu words for "braised" which is the main cooking technique for this dish. Dating back as far as the 16th century, Korma can be traced to the Mughal incursions into present day Northern India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. This Indian staple makes my heart full and warm. I absolutely love the sauce. Even after I devour all the chicken... the sauce mixed with rice makes another hearty meal for another day. For the vegetarians, I recommend the Aloo Gobhi, a dry mixture of potatoes, cauliflower, and spices. How such simplicity in ingredients bring out the fullest flavor, I am unable to say. It makes a great accompaniment to chicken korma! Also, try the Dahl Makhani, described as being "...creamed lentils delicately cooked overnight on low heat finished with butter, garnished with cream with herbs." Now, I was a bit hesitant to try this dish as a non lentil-enthusiast... but it completely blew me away! The lentils were not mushy as I thought they would be but possessed a lovely balance of firm and tender in its texture. I just moved to Highland Park and decided to try this place during my move-in as I was starving. This place is exactly the answer for starving souls who need good serving as well as tasty food. I went there two days in a row and both times had the vegetarian lunch-box. Both times the service was prompt, food piping hot and the spices were just right. Having grown up in Delhi, I am pleased to see a Delhi-ite who runs a restaurant efficiently and is polite and nice to customers. Since moving to Edison from Hoboken, we haven't been able to find a legit good Indian place (Akbar is pretty good, but nothing special and definitely overpriced). I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my man got the lamb rogan josh. Naan wasn't greasy, raita was yum, and the samosas - wow (I got meat, he got veggie). We were so impressed! I have ordered from this place about once a month for the past 6 or 7 years. I've always loved the food. I always have stomach problems when I eat Indian food, but still, I keep ordering: that is how much I love (or used to love?) the food from Dehli Garden! However, my last experience was a let down. The quality has gone down, food was not as tasty as usual and some flavors were even different than before. But the worst is that the prices increased about 20%-25% all of a sudden!? Very affordable and tasty Indian food. Options are good as any indian restaurants located in Edison & cheaper.However, sometime food taste is a hit or miss depending how busy they are. I moved away from the area for some time and tried a ton of different Indian places. However, nothing even comes close to comparing to Delhi. I ALWAYS get the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Biryani with boneless chicken. I HIGHLY recommend getting both. The Tikka Masala sauce goes SO well with the Chicken Biryani. However, even the mild Biryani is pretty darn spicey so beware. I love spice but the Biryani is SPICEY. But it's amazing together. My boyfriend is a huge fan of the Chicken 65. I rarely write yelp reviews, but really want to write one after my experience last night at Delhi Garden. The service was friendly, accommodating, and gracious. The food was flavorful and fresh for very reasonable pricing. The menu is good for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. I do not understand any of the poor reviews of this place - (a) every place will have occasional bad days (b) it's a small place cranking out tons of delivery and to-go, how can anything not be fresh when flying out the door at such a constant and rapid pace? Delhi Garden has amazing food, the staff is pleasant, and they prepare everything super fresh and fast. If you know your indian food, they are also willing to make things for you that are not listed on the menu. I wouldn't suggest having delivery simply because they require you to spend a certain amount of money depending on the mileage they need to travel to get to you. But because they can prepare your meals so quickly, I normally go on in, order and wait for everything. Very underrated, hole in the wall place that everyone in Middlesex county should try! read more

The most delicious and inexpensive Indian restaurant I have tried in New Jersey. The chicken tikka masala is the best I've ever had. It is much spicier and flavorful than usual. The rice was excellent. The mango lassi was also one of the best I've had. I also wanted to sit and eat inside, but apparently this place is strictly take-out and delivery. There is a table inside, but it has a tv on top and we felt a little weird about eating there. We just took the food to our car and ate. Very delicious. Love, love, love Indian food and historically Delhi Garden has been my fav in NJ. I travel over 40 minutes one way just to pick up food from them. My last two visits things have been problematic The first visit they put a wrong food item in the bag and a few things tasted "off." My most recent order I received chicken and goat that were both way undercooked (the chicken so much so that there was blood in the sauce). I called to report the issue and whoever answered asked me to send a picture of the chicken (which I did, but frankly I was quite annoyed at being asked to do this considering I spend at least $100 a pop every time I visit the restuarant and I go frequently). At first they just wanted to do a credit for my next visit which put a very bad taste in my mouth. You mess up the order in a way that the food is inedible and you want me to come back? I pressed for the money back (which was less than $15 and they made it seem like a big deal). Once the credit was processed, I mentioned that upon opening the other dishes the goat was undercooked too. Radio silence...no acknowledgement, no apology, no nothing....the next day, my child was sick from the food we thought was cooked appropriately. So I am done. I will not spend my time and money traveling to an establishment that serves food that makes people sick, does not own up to mistakes and does not value long term customers who spend significant money. Will also be calling the Dept. of Health. I will not be back. read more

Update (01/18/13): I went in the other day to pick up my order of Lamb Vindaloo, samosas, a makhani chicken, and the owner approached me after reading my yelp review. Yes, owners do read their yelp profiles, haha. She approached me in terms of what happened to my past orders, especially to the plates of rice that accompany each main dish and asked me what happened. To me as a customer, this is something I truly admire because she, Karen, one of the owners went out of their way to fix what had happened since I have been ordering there for a while now, especially since I usually make large orders. She explained that she was sorry and prompted to fix the past mistakes by adding extra rice to my order. Yay! So everything worked out, and she went above and beyond to correcting the problem. So now my review has changed from 4 stars to 5 stars. Also, for people who order more than one dish, this was explained to me to as to lessen the complication of what happens to the rice that accompanies the dishes. Instead of giving individual rice bowls, they combine rice to one plate for 2 dishes. So if you end up ordering 4 main dishes, instead of receiving 4 individual rice bowls, they will combine the rice bowls into two larger plates. Happy Eatings! read more

On weeknights, when your healthy chicken breast dinners are becoming stale, you need a bit of Indian food to spice it all up. We end up ordering once a week when we get VERY lazy. This is our go-to Indian takeout place to the rescue! They have a pretty decent variety of north and south Indian cuisine. What i would recommend are their curries, we've tried their chicken tikka masala, chicken makhani and a couple of other curries. They're nice and flavorful, yet distinct enough to make you feel like they all taste the same. You can skip the basmati rice it comes with, it's too hard for my liking. I always order it with a side of garlic or plain naan, which makes it so amazing! The portions are pretty big, I've had to split my curries into two meals, even though they don't look that big. I have to remember that curries are quite heavy and you don't need a lot of it to get full. Their tandoor kabobs and mango lassis are pretty good. Skip their south indian stuff, better off finding a place that specializes in south indian cuisine. Their dosas just aren't good. Also, skip the pakoras, not enough crunch and way too oily. Don't forget to use your RU discount (10% off) or your yelp check-in discount of $5 off. The service is fast and efficient, and expect to watch some fun Indian shows while you wait. read more

Just ordered my food today to go. I got 3 items - NY Style chicken with white sauce, Chicken Makahani and Veg Pakora. First of all I am impressed with the cleanliness of the front office, the quality packaging of their orders and the freshness. The NY Style chicken rice with white sauce came with extra cups of white and red sauce, really soft and fresh naan, salad. The taste was really fantastic and the price was reasonable. I would definitely mark this as my place to go in the future and planning to get the food from there to take to my office colleagues this coming week. Keep up the good work management.
