This review is purely based on delivered food. But, it's delicious - their paneer bhurji is so delicious you can eat it hot or cold. Their biryani is top notch - I could eat it every day. Their packing is good, no leaks, spills and easily labeled. My only qualm is that - when you request spicy it's not really spicy. In fact, all the food is kind of on the sweet side - but definitely won't stop me from eating here. I love it so much I ordered it twice in two days. I used to rave about Delhi Height's lunch buffet. But since February 2012, my trips to Delhi Heights have been increasingly disappointing. The service is always friendly, but the quality of the food seems to be decreasing. They used to have fantastic, hearty options. They used to have a creamy palak paneer, amazing Chinese fusion okra options, etc. These have later been replaced by palak potatoes, and then palak mushrooms. Once they didn't even offer a paneer dish. *pout* Even when they do, the paneer tastes frozen, or not as fresh as it used to be. The recipes seemed to have changed. Their other vegetable dishes used to be exciting and hearty. Now, they're serving (obviously) frozen vegetables, curried. Sometimes 2 frozen vegetable dishes which curries that are too similar. At times, they don't even have samosa. I can't say how their meat dishes have faired, but for an indian buffet with many vegetarian options, I suggest Mehfil. I've never sat down for dinner at the restaurant, only had delivery. My friend and I shared the Chicken Tikka Masala, and had the Naan and Onion Kulcha. The Onion Kulcha was great on its own. The naan was good too, especially dipping it in the masala "gravy." The chicken tikka masala was creamy, not spicy, had a lot of flavor. The only negative would be the price. Compared to the other Indian restaurants in the area, this place is a bit expensive, however, it is quite clean. I normally check health inspections for the neighborhood restaurants. First time I ever saw a Groupon for a restaurant in my neighborhood so I decided to give it a shot. Even though I live in Jackson Heights, I've never had the Indian food here so I decided to give it a shot. Despite the fact that the restaurant was pretty empty for a Sunday afternoon during lunch, I had a good time here. The a la carte menu was absolutely massive with around 200 different selections to choose from. Whittled it down to garlic naan to start and lamb biryani for my entree. The garlic naan was a bit crispier and burnt than I would've preferred but I didn't mind it too much. The lamb biryani was excellent and very spicy. The lamb chunks at the bottom of the dish were pretty sizable and I was stuffed afterwards, even though it was a relatively small bowl. They also did not skimp on the spice at all. When you say spicy, you get spicy...not that watered down stuff some other places try to pass off as spicy. Also got a nimbu paani to drink (sweet and salty lemonade) but it was more salty than sweet. Turns out it wasn't really mixed fully and all the sugar was sitting at the bottom. Service was relatively fair with nice servers but they were a little slow on taking our order. Had to call one over instead of one approaching me after little time like I'm used to. Decor of the place has a very nice modern restaurant feel. Only minor con is that they had the A/C blasting on a cool and overcast day but fortunately, you can be cured of the chills by eating a spicy entree. All in all, Delhi Heights is a solid place for Indian in Jackson Heights. Their prices are a tad high for the area but they do offer a huge menu selection and a $10 lunch buffet for the budget conscious. Food: I went here starving after work with friends. We enjoyed pretty standard indian fare- tikka masala and tandoori chicken. Both were very good. Additionally, we tried the indian-chinese portion of the menu, which I found perplexing. Chili sauced goat? say what? What came out was more like a mildly spiced general tso's goat with a gelatinous gooey sauce that transported my tastebuds a bit to Panda Express. Not necessarily a bad thing. Standard garlic naan. Ambiance: nothing particularly stands out. Seems like a spot many locals eat at. Service: excellent. Served quickly. bottom line: 3.5/5 stars. I came here on a Sunday night with a friend to get some Indo-Chinese food. Why get the standard Indian fare when you could find that at countless other restaurants in the area? We got the Chili Chicken and the Gobi Manchurian. Both were really good, but oddly enough, the Gobi Manchurian ended up being spicier than the Chili Chicken. Service was good and I got a 15% discount with a check-in on Yelp. To end our meal, we had chai to warm up since it was very cold out that day. It definitely hit the spot. They also have live music on Sunday nights which was interesting. I think this is one of the better Indian restaurants in the area so it's definitely worth a visit. read more

This is a AWESOME place! My family goes here every 2 months or so and we're always looking forward to it! The service is spectacular, the food is the best! My favorite drink is definitely the mango lassi yogurt drink. That's delicious and I never want them to take that off the menu. We like to count how many of the mango lassis there are in the restaurant. Our record is 12! The food is extra spicy, which is good for us that my family loves spicy foods, because there's always something a little mild to even it out. My kids like to put the rice on top of the papadum! My husband talked to the manager and he is very nice and friendly. This is definitely a very family restaurant that teaches my kids to try new things. The first time we went there my husband said it was good and delicious, but I thought from looking outside it was a dump, and we were almost going to try another place, until my husband (and the kids) convinced me to. Your average Indian food buffet. I wanted to try something different than the Jackson Diner but kind of regretted it. The place looked clean and new. However it wasn't that full so the crying babies (there were lots of them) sounded louder than usual. The spread wasn't that extensive and you're still paying $9.95 which is only a dollar less than the Jackson Diner's buffet. Chicken tikka masala and palak paneer stood out to me. Didn't get to try the goat curry because the couple pieces I tried were huge chunks of fat so I got too disgusted. I liked the Manchurian vegetable mix & the "daily" special which was potatoes scallops and onions, just because they were something different. The dessert was limited to rice pudding, which was kind of disappointing. Not a huge fan of that dish in general but wanted something sweet so I forced down a few bites. Regardless, we were seated and we went straight to the buffet. There weren't too many things on the buffet menu (we like it this way) although, from what was there, only Chicken Tikka Masala stood out. They had a grill which was quite empty (guessing it was the time) but they should've served us because we were paying full price for the buffet! There are equal dishes Veg & Non-Veg. Tried the Palak Paneer, which is just about OK. In Non-Veg, Chicken Tikka Masala definitely stands out. Perhaps one of the best tasting dish as compared to everything else. Surprisingly, I enjoyed their veggie options more than the meat dishes. I think it's a pretty good deal for a decent amount of variety. They really should amp up the spiciness levels. 5 stars for the waiter that kept refilling my water. His timing was just next level, he literally kept refilling my water after every sip. This is my first experience at an Indian Restaurant so take this review with a grain of salt. As an appetizer, who would have thought pan fried cottage cheese with mint would be so good? To me, it was like the texture of a very firm tofu with more flavor. Ordered the kodai goat and lamb korma as entrees since those are the two animals I don't eat very often. It turned out to be a great choice as the meat in their respective sauces was tender and matches up perfectly with the spices. The waitstaff was very nice and attentive. Ummm don't do it.. the food is just yuck and oily.. we started with Chole bature and I don't think they know what a batura is, it's was over fried and irregular in shape. The mains were too oily. The nan was under cooked and the overall experience was awkward. It is a small space with a tv above the main door. The waiters were watching a movie and didn't bother to really check on us. Even though the place has a 'fine dining' feel to it, the staff was friendly and the prices were moderate. There was even live entertainment provided by a guy with a keyboard (instead of the typical Sitar & Tablas), and he provided some nice background ambiance. My friend and I started out with an order of veggie samosas and a sizzling dish of the Chicken Afghani. We probably could have ended the meal there. The Chicken Afghani was pretty much a chicken and a half, boneless, perfectly cooked, moist, and wonderfully spiced, served over onions on a red hot skillet. It was fantastic. There are a total of fifteen of these sizzling platters on the menu (twelve with meat, and three vegetarian), all listed under the heading "Appetizers from our clay oven". And, though the Chicken Tikka Masala that we ordered next was succulent and tasty, the next time that I come here, I'll probably try a few of the other platters instead. There's also a decent selection of Indian / Chinese dishes, including some wonderful noodle dishes. All in all, Delhi Heights in a vast improvement on the other Indian restaurants in the neighborhood, and good enough to travel to from elsewhere in the city. Living in Jackson Heights has spoiled me with amazing choices. This is a small place not far from under the 7 train and the prices are very respectable for the quality and portions. Delhi Heights is very nice and cozy restaurant in Jackson Heights! Its very close to all the subway lines E,F,M,R and 7. Love the their interior as they have laid out nice and comfy leather couch looking chairs(my fav ones to sit on). They offers complimentary papad with cilantro and imli chutney while you are waiting for your food to arrive. The staffs are very friendly. Their food is delicious and my most moth watering dish is "SHRIMP BIRYANI"...its yummy and the aroma is breath taking. read more

Wow this was really disappointing. I ordered takeout (UberEATS) and ordered the vegetable korma. They don't give you a lot of rice...& The korma was not good at all and definitely lacked flavor.. The aloo tiki was uncooked, the flour and batter from inside was completely uncooked, bitter, and had no potatoes! I was shocked! The gobi manchurian was extremely hard, and tasted very old. The paneer manchurian was stale! Stale hard cheese! Shahi paneer lacked flavor, tasted pretty bad, but it was edible to eat compared to everything else. Naan wasn't butter flaky, at all. Soooooooooo, tell me what you want, what you really, really want. If you're looking for the spices, you're only going to get two out of the five: ginger and posh. On a scale of 1 - 10, the spice level at Delhi Heights is about a two. This is mild Indian food. It's also a hit or miss from what I've gathered. Delhi Heights was my first official meal in Jackson Heights as a resident. Some neighbors bring you a basket of goodies as part of the welcome wagon, other neighbors bring you to an Indian lunch buffet. I'm glad I'm neighbors with the latter. My first meal at Delhi Heights was a bit more on the spicy end. This time the spice was pretty much non-existent. I've heard at times their food is salty and at other times really bland. So you never know what you're going to get but so far I've liked it. Delhi Heights is a good place to take guests. It's considered fancy for the area with nice plates, silverware, flooring, and a renovation that can't be beat. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. When we asked about the chutneys, instead of making us get it ourselves from the bottle at the buffet table, they brought them out to us in dishes. They also kept encouraging us to eat more because there was plenty of food available. If you are well versed in the art of buffet and all you can eat, then you can do very well here. At a mere $9.95, you can really pack away a lot of punch for your dollar. They will also give you more naan than you could ever hope for. Drinks are a separate charge so be careful. A lassi costs about half of your meal. I barely know the names of Indian dishes. I was glad to find that this time they marked the buffet. I would say on average there are about 10 dishes available. Dishes vary by day but there are always the staples. I gorged on veggie pakodas, chicken tandoori, chicken makhani, goat curry, palak paneer, mixed vegetables, chickpea salad, and chicken biryani. My absolute favorite is the goat curry. I could eat that all day long. It's not gamey whatsoever, the curry is mild, and the meat is very tender. For dessert, they have moong daal halwa which is a rich sweet yellow lentil pudding. It has the consistency of polenta and has a hint of almond flavor. If you're going for seconds at the buffet, definitely have seconds of this! Yo I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. I Thought Indian food was super SPICY????? Not this one. I avoided for soo long that I finally gave it a chance and try it out. It's a Buffett place ($ 9.95 per person, not including soda $2.50 each). less than 10 selections of dishes with different spices with meats (and non meats). I'm not a spicy person at all, but I was able to eat every thing from here. A scale of 1 (Not spicy) to 10 (Super spicy) I would give it a 3. If they go above 5, I don't think I would have done it. DECOR - It's pretty plain, clear glasses around the store, 18 small square tables that can be arrange from a small group to a large group. The only thing that I was bothered during the Buffet style is the food is leaned on top of the bar. (By that means I had to look up and I wasn't able to reach out to get food and close the top). My mama loves to stuff her face. My sister loves to stuff her face. A matter of fact, pretty much everybody in my family loves stuffing their faces. I think it runs in our genes. Anyway, Judy K. previously sent me a list of her favorite AYCE spots, and for the longest time I was dying to try one of those places. With Mother's day weekend rolling around the corner, I had my opportunity. However, I just had to somehow coerce mom into Indian food for lunch. It went as follows: Tony C.: "Hey mom. So, uh Mother's day is coming up. How about sis and I treat you to lunch?" Mama C.: "Sure." Tony C.: "How about Indian food?" Mama C.: "Huh?" (complete with twisted facial expression) Tony C.: "It's All-You-Can-Eat." (complete with approving head nod) Mama C.: (wide pearly-white smile breaks through for but a second, as she coyly retracts her grin, so as not to appear overeager) "Oh. Okay." Tsk!, so much for my coercion tactics. I had set my sights on Delhi Heights, as it has garnered high praise from the Yelp lot. We got there right at their opening time unfortunately they weren't quite ready yet. "10 minutes," they said, so we walked around the block, and did some window-shopping. Unbeknownst to me, this was the street where they have a gazillion other Indian buffet places, and most were already open. Fortunately, what was available was very good. From the Palak Banek (tofu & spinach-like veggies) to the Chicken Tikki Masala, from the Curry Goat to the Chicken Biryani, and from the Mushroom Aloo to the Tandoori Chicken. My favorite dish by far was the Tandoori Chicken. However, I most-enjoyed mixing and combining the different dishes, flavors, and textures. I combine a bite of chicken with ripe tomatoes, and crunchy lettuce. The curried goat paired well with the creamy spinach-like stuff. After a semitouristy day traveling through three boroughs, visiting two museums, both Central and Prospect Parks, riding multiple subways and having a gosh darn great time, my friend and I were totally craving something really spicy and decided to go to Jackson Heights for dinner, looking for an Indian place that was relatively authentic. After using yelp, I found Delhi Heights which was close to the subway and only one connection to a different train coming from Harlem. I will preface the fact that my friend and I love incendiary food, and order most dishes at Asian restaurants Extremely Hot, or in the case here - Indian Hot. We ordered the following: Methi Malai Muttar - peas, fenugreek, spinach in a cream cheese sauce which was layered in multiple flavors and spices Chicken Vindaloo - vinegary, and very complex, fragrant and sourly spicy, not overwhelmed with chili or cayenne, more balanced with fresh chilis and minimal tomato. Chicken Makhani - butter chicken with actual spices and more creamy. Like a Chicken Tikka Masala on steroids. Aloo Paratha - the paratha was very flaky, and stuffed with cumin seed spiked potatoes. not the absolute best I've ever had, but, up there. Paneer Kulcha - this cheese and spinach stuffed flatbread was amazing. It was like an Indian stuffed crust pizza with flavorful spinach and cheese. Normally, I would give this a 4 star review. However, the care and service level that the owner showed and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff was purely a delight. I honestly have never had such a great service experience in a long time. The owner was great, introduced himself on our way out and practically hugged us. I was first introduced to this restaurant last year on Christmas, and it was honestly one of the best Indian food restaurant I'd eaten at in NYC, and that's saying a lot since I am Indian, with a mom who cooks heavenly delicious food. The food here was amazing. Every dish had its own flavor and presentation, which made them very appealing. The fusion between Indian and Chinese cuisine was spot on. Overall I was very pleased with the food. Since then, I've been their with my family several times with consistent and delicious food. However, to my much disappointment, a year later on Christmas, this place was a complete 180 degrees. The management changed and so did this place. The food lacked flavor and presentation. The dishes that were suppose to be different, started tasting very alike. The dishes were bland and the presentation was a joke. Here's the thing: I *really* like the food here. It's been delicious each time I've gone. The staff is very friendly and highly attentive. The decor: ambient lighting, modern touches but still timeless. The crowd is mixed - I can't stress this enough. It's one of the things I love about the area and of course New York City in general. A word of advice: when your server asks how spicy you want your food take care. When you say spicy, they will give you a meal that will literally make your eyes tear (and yes, it'll make you sweat!). Normally, I go to the extreme with gusto. However, the morning after my first meal here I woke up feeling like I swallowed battery acid. When I went back, I made sure to go "mild". It was a much better decision. Here's why I gave two stars: After my visit last night I was absolutely appalled when I saw the bathroom. What a train wreck! I wish I'd never gone in there. The floor was almost entirely littered with papers (paper towels maybe?). It looked like someone upended the garbage pail and let everything spew everywhere. Gross! I had to kick clear a path to the toilet! Everything was a mess in there. The room itself looked like it was falling apart. When I went to turn on the water to wash my hands I thought the fixture itself was going to come apart in my hands. As I said, I was appalled. A quick note on five stars. For me, it means, "You should go there. I recommend it fully and you'll enjoy it". If that sounds a little tepid, keep in mind that I live in NYC: there are tons of options for pretty much whatever one wants. It takes a lot for me to recommend something sans reservation. I've patronized Delhi Heights three times: twice for dinner and once for the lunch buffet. All three visits were wonderful. In all three cases I strictly had Indian food (I have not tried their fusion dishes, FWIW), and the key each time has been flavor. I'm unsure what wizardry is going on in this place's kitchen, but they're doing it right. My most recent dinner there started off with a mango lassi and vegetable pakoda. For the main, I had malai kofta. All three were spectacular (though I've never met a mango lassi I didn't like; I reckon that would be like having bad chocolate ice cream). Again, what this comes down to for me is flavor. I cannot vouch for authenticity or anything like that; but everything was cooked right and tasted wonderful. Otherwise, I'd say the low point of my three visits was the lunch buffet. I don't eat meat, and though they had a great kadai paneer, I found the daal takda pretty tame by comparison. Honestly though, I could have gotten a giant plate of the life-changing pakoda with a side of tamarind chutney and been happy. When it's all said and done, the dinner here is excellent. The buffet seems OK; nit-picky as it seems, I would have preferred one more (Indian) vegetarian option. Outside of that, the staff is very friendly, and your water will never go below half-full in my experience. Perhaps because it's in Jackson Heights (as opposed to Manhattan) you get friendly service and attention from the staff. My only criticism of this place is the dance music that is always playing. I was going to review sooner, but there are three parts to this menu -- South Indian, North Indian, and Desi-Chinese -- and I wanted to try at least a little something from each first. The verdict: they are all delicious. Like, shockingly so. Like the bf and I ended up coming here three times within the span of 2 weeks and were never disappointed. I especially enjoyed the mushroom mattar and the bf loved the paneer manchurian. Their mysore dosas aren't the absolute best, but they aren't too bad. And even when I made a rather everyday order of Aloo Gobi I wasn't disappointed. Prices are high for the 'hood, but not outlandish. And they are far better than the ol' standbys. Ok. I sincerely hope the owners and the particular waiter reads this review. I went there with my family to relax and enjoy some typical Nepalese food. We ordered two servings of chicken momo and two servings of beef noodles. We even showed him the pictures of the noodles on the menu but instead of the noodles, he got us fried beef momos. We inquired the guy who took our order (he is the older waiter there) about it and he rudely stated that he made no mistake; he said that we ordered the beef momos and so he brought it. Wow! That guy is hella rude... He didn't even apologize and he had the guts to use his speech in such a rude way that my mother became immediately enraged. OMG!!!! the food was great!!!! Great customer service, decor was nice and modern, i loved the silverware, the prices are fair, the bathroom was so clean and decorated nicely, you felt as if you were in someones home . Chef Deepak Ballaney has doen it again ! I just had his "newly" introduced item,never made, never tried, never heard off ...The " Crispy Bhindi Chaat " ..yes ! can you beleive it ! He is simply so creative and he just know how to play with your taste buds.I am originaly from delhi and I could not imagine that I would ever have OKRA CHAAT in my life and that too in NY. I've really enjoyed coming to eat here and everything was fine until...found a little critter in my food. Understanding that things like this happen, I didn't over react but instead showed our server and he immediately took the plate away. By that point I was no longer hungry and asked for the bill. They gave me a "discount " ( instead of not charging me for the meal I barely touched) and I was on my way. Indian food: Not something my area of Brooklyn specializes in. In lui of going out to Brighton Beach in search of good Indian food, I asked the astute Mr. Queens CM Jando S. where to go to impress an old friend of mine who was visiting this weekend from that state on the other side of Manhattan, and who was desperately craving a good tikka masala. If you're gonna do Indian food up right, you really should go to Jackson Heights (sorry Brooklyn!) - and Jando knew exactly where to direct us (thanks dude!). While Delhi Heights came recommended for buffet, it was open later than other restaurants, so we decided to do sit-down dinner there around 10pm. I have to admit, queens is a giant mystery to me (which I am totally working on!), and this place was really easy to find (right off the Roosevelt Ave E train stop) which was a major plus. The service here is humble and sweet, and the servers don't speak much English, which is understandable but sometimes a bit difficult if you want suggestions or have questions. This is definitely a (mostly positive) double-edged sword, because you know the restaurant will be authentic, but you might not get much in the way of conversation or help. Regardless, we got everything we needed, and enjoyed our experience and the ambiance of this softly-lit, nicely decorated restaurant. The menu here is capital-E: Extensive. We couldn't help but order both the Punjabi samosas and the aloo ki tikki for starters. This was a good choice because not only were both delicious - the samosa was actually the best I have ever had - but it was the perfect amount of food for two people to start. The timing of service was also really excellent - it wasn't too long a wait and we weren't rushed - even though it was 10pm, which I totally appreciate. Our main dishes, malai kofta for me and chicken tikka masala for him, were brought just as we were finishing our starters - which was a bit slowly because we were also catching up. The waitress was slightly awkward about taking our plates (she took mine before I was done, and then didn't take his, even though he was obviously done), but she was so sweet that it wasn't a big deal. The malai kofta was delicious, on par with the best Indian restaurants I've experienced in other towns (this was the first time I have had decent Indian good in NYC, mind you) and I particularly liked how thick the sauce was - I'm a big fan of this dish and know a good malai kofta when I experience one. I didn't try the tikka masala, but my friend really enjoyed his dish as well. There was a ton of food, so we took about half each of our main dishes home with us. Oh, and how could I forget the garlic naan - it's reallllllllly garlicky (and delicious). We shared one half of a piece and took the rest of the order to go. There's a lot of garlic, just sayin. Delhi Heights was a great start to my Indian food adventures in Queens, and it was very reasonably priced as well. I'd like to try a place that's a bit more hole-in-the-wall, and I definitely want to experience some southern Indian/vegetarian only cuisine (dosa dosa dosa!!) as well. If anyone reading this wants to shout out some more places I should try, that would be great - I'll echo Jando and shout out that you should definitely hop on over to the Roosevelt Ave E stop and enjoy some deliciousness at Delhi Heights. read more

You can read about how awesome the food is (which it is) in all the other reviews. I am writing about how clean this place is. My problem with the neighboring Indian restaurants cooking equally delicious food (i.e. Jackson Diner) has always been the lack of hygiene. And I don't mean lack of hygiene like "lipstick on my glass" or "oh a tiny stain on the napkin" I mean like several layers of filth you can scratch off on your fork, dirty fucking nails on the staff kinda filth. Just think about it, if the waiter as the front line man has 8 inch dirty nails, can you imagine what the cook looks like behind the kitchen door? BUT, Delhi Hegiths looks, feels, smells, tastes CLEAN. So there you have it, you don't have to forego reasonable cleanliness for the taste anymore. read more

Incredible Mango Lassi, the best in Queens as far as I'm concerned. I have been disappointed by EVERYTHING else I have tried here. I'll be sticking to my Malai Kofta across the street at Jackson Diner. I have not been to the lunch buffet, only to dinner. Maybe I would enjoy it more if I had more options in front of me? I've already tried a variety of menu items and not one of them met my expectations. Maybe in the summer months, Ill sneak for the AC and a lassi, but don't expect to be eating here again. read more
