The lady working (Jade) I'd like to say her name was took excellent care of us, the food itself was amazing and very well balanced between veggie and meat amounts, on top of the food being perfected the service was above and beyond making sure that everything was taken care of. Delicious deli in East County. First, very reasonably priced: I didn't look at my receipt because honestly, with a final tab of $17 and change how could I argue? I do know the sandwich with one side and my choice of "Dirty Brand" potato chips was a meal special. Lol look at the photo-1/2 sandwich on an onion roll stuffed with very thinly sliced turkey (Boars Head)and veggies of your choosing. Deli Belly offers many bread choices including this huge onion roll, sourdough, white, wheat and squaw. The bread was very fresh, the meat plenty(hey, you'd usually pay extra for all of this turkey,) plus crisp bacon and cheese. I chose swiss, but the usual suspects and havarti no less were options. Like most deli's you can choose your veggies, and I added banana peppers. I didn't watch while my sandwich was being prepared so I had no idea how much Deli Belly emphasizes the quality and generous portions of their proteins. You see the photo of the sandwich? The ratio of protein to veggies has to be @ least 70%-this is the kind of meal you split into two on your workday and skip the snacks! But I ramble.... The sides are better than you might think;homemade flavors. I added salt and white pepper to the two salads and naturally, added a toasty flavor to the clam chowder with black pepper. The $20 I spent including tip will be served up into three healthy, pre-prepared meals. *WINNER for the best new deli I've visited in 2019-2020. Ahh, I'm not quite through. The service was excellent-happy well-groomed, all around nice guy. Sodas: fountain style or premium bottle brand. Two additional sides on the menu plus another soup. Cheesecake slices, carrot cake and one other. Pick up and delivery. Open @ 10:00 the day of my visit. Parking lot.

We recently moved to El Cajon and have been looking for a new sandwich shop. This place has great reviews, so we were enthusiastic about trying it. We finished our sandwiches, which were soggy and somewhat unappetizing, and then opened our desserts to discover huge green spots of mold all over the whipped cream. I can't imagine how they missed that when they were packing it... and how they are handling their food to let it get that moldy. Yuck. Not feeling good about that sandwich I ate now.

Best sandwich spot in East county! There's a ton of places to get lunch but this is always my go too. Either the BLT combo or the varsity combo. Great food great prices

I giving a 3 star because of the fresh ingredients but unfortunately the past 2 times I have called in orders they have been wrong (wrong bread every time) even when we are ordering directly from the menu without any changes. The potato salad is usually amazing but this time around it was running and half cooked potatoes, for $23 dollar lunch we were highly disappointed. Also, waited 20 minutes to arrive for pick up and the sandwiches have not been started. I have a short lunch break which is why I call ahead of time. No one seemed to care actually laughed when we came in and it wasn't ready. We will be looking for a new sand which shop in our area moving forward.

Gosh this is mine and my husbands favorite Deli, but unfortunately tonight the owner was gone, and there were 3 young adults working. The female employee told us she has only been there 4 days, and obviously she was very nervous and didn't follow directions well. Also her hair was hanging in her face. Ugghh. The young men were professional and very helpful. As you can see by my picture the sandwiches were less then desired And not what was ordered. Unfortunately I live in Imperial Valley, so I couldn't take them back. I do hope the female will be taught the proper way to make sandwiches and next time I go in she will be a little more friendly. read more

DELICIOUS! This place has real gourmet subs. You can taste the quality in the subs here. I ordered the Sweet n Smokey and my husband had the Chipotle So Gouda and we were both blown away at how tasty our subs were. If you are in the area you HAVE to stop here. I've order from this place several times and I've never been disappointed until today. I love the antipasto salad and believe it or not my order usually looks like the photos or a close version of the photo. However today they ripped up like two pieces of meat threw it on top of some iceberg lettuce with a boat load of onions and no cheese. Unfortunately for me I didn't see this hot mess until I got home. Super bummed because I really like this place. Hoping they figure it out. read more

My first time here and I ordered the Chipotle So Gouda because I like spicy anything. It is the BEST sandwich I've ever had. Forget Subway across the street as I will never step foot in one ever again if I can help it. If you live in the area, you're missing out if you don't stop by cause it's YUMMO! Thank you for your help and wonderful service. The clam chowder is also a slam dunk. I'd post my a photo but my sandwich is no longer present. Updated review 04/06/19: I'm changing my review to 3 stars because this last time I was here, the sandwich I ordered (Chipotle So Gouda) was disappointing. For almost $10, it wasn't the usual packed sandwich I was used to. Instead it came with perhaps 2, maybe 3 slices of meat, little veggies, very flat sandwich and not as tasty as before. Maybe they were running low on ingredients?? Idk but it may be a while before I come back again. read more

I love this place, its my only go-to Sandwich shop. The fact that its close to my work is convenient, but I definitely catch myself driving from near lakeside to this location for a good sandwich. I always go with the Chipotle So Gouda in a wrap! They have different wraps like Garlic (a new favorite), Spinach, and Tomato Basil. They have those really good Pure Cane Sugar Sodas. They are the BEST. I'm a personal fan of the Root Beer but the Agave Vanilla is one to try! I've been experimenting with new sandwiches here and there and haven't been disappointed yet! But I love my regular CSG! If you're lucky enough to catch the Owner around, he's always on top of his game. He has a bunch of locations growing all over San Diego so that must mean he's doing something right! Bravo and keep up the good work. I'll be back soon! read more

What a complete disappointment. I got the "full" sandwich and it was one slice of cheese cut in half. We have tons of delis in New York so I knew it would not be the same quality but this deli has "New York style" sandwiches and this was such poor quality. Overpriced and underwhelming. read more

I'm not sure why I haven't been coming here more often, the sandwiches are amazing! I've tried others but the Chipotle chicken so gouda has got to be my new favorite sandwich, if I could eat it a couple times a week without gaining weight then I probably would.... yes it is that good, no lie! The meats (Boarshead brand), cheeses and veggies are very fresh, and I don't know it they make their own bread and wraps but they taste very fresh and homemade. The yelp link to order online for pick up or delivery is awesome, chose your options of food, pay and within ten minutes it will be there waiting for you, really love this feature, it's a great time saver if you're in a hurry! read more

Vegetarians/Vegans BEWARE: You will be charged an extra $1.25 for avocado on your vegetarian sandwich. Places now days will add avocado in place of meat for no extra charge, but not this place. Vegetarian sandwiches, sans avocado, are the same price as a BLT and other meat sandwiches, which makes no sense. We asked the two employees to mention this to the owner, and although they seemed to agree, they said they "know how the owner thinks" and seemed rather uninterested. Save yourself the frustration and extra $1.25 and get yourself a sandwich from a place that will INCLUDE the avocado on your veggie sandwich. read more

We were the only customers on a Sunday afternoon and ordered two sandwiches off the menu to go. No special order just right off the wall. You cannot see them making your sandwich because of the setup. We got home with a turkey bacon avocado sandwich that had no avocado and a pastrami sandwich that advertised tomatoes, onions and lettuce which only had lettuce. We will not be going back. Thank goodness Beach Hut deli is in the area. read more

So my husband pick the spot out because it has boar head meat. I was skeptical but the sandwiches were actually very good I got their sweet and smoky without honey mustard because I didn't want that much sweet it was really good and really well prepared. The service was very good and the price was comparable to many other places. My husband like to sandwich but felt that there could've been a little bit more meat on it but that was the only problem everything else is great. Another great Yelp find! We are from a community about 70 miles away but a track meet brought us down near the deli. Always a good reason to find a new local spot. I like that they serve Boars Head meats and Diet Coke. The gentleman who made my veggie sandwich was very friendly and helpful. I paid under $20 for lunch for my son and me and, for quality food, I think it's fair. We both really enjoyed the soft and fresh tasting hoagie rolls. The veggies and meats were very good and full of flavor. I only have 2 complaints, one of them a pet peeve of sandwich shops. The two pieces of bread surrounding the sandwich fillings should not be 3 times thicker than the fillings. It looks bad and cheap, and tastes bad. The sandwiches were very skimpy on the fillings so the overwhelming taste was bread. I hate that. Second, their side salads were not homemade. I ordered the potato salad and it was good for what it was. Thank goodness it wasn't that swill from the market! read more

Well, I just wanted to write an update to my review that I posted. I recently went back to deli belly and was presently pleased with the changes that they have made. As I mentioned the potato salad was keeping this restaurant from 5 stars but since the change I can now report that the potato salad is much better. They have two different one's to choose from. I had a sandwich from there today. The my bread was so stale that I would not have eating that had I picked it out of my own bread loaf at home. The cheese tasted like American cheese which they call Cheddar. I was surprised to find this is a large chain because the quality was so bad. If I go back I will tell them about this experience and if I get the same one I will let you know read more

I thought for sure this was gonna finally be the one sandwich shop I was gonna love since I moved to San Diego 4 years ago. But I was sadly disappointed.. I ordered the Frankie. One it had one layer of thin sliced meat of each kind. So barely any meat compared to bread and veggies.. then when I got to the second half of my sandwich the meat was hard and dried out. It was disgusting!! I couldn't finish it!! I do not recommend this place. Your better going to subway you'll get more for your money!! read more

I had the Sweet & Smokey. Great sandwhich. The turkey was good and the honey mustard they use is just the right combination of sweet and sour to it. The service was great and the shop is well kept. First time back here since moving out of the area and the place is just as good as I remember it. I got the Sweet n Smokey on the onion roll and it was outstanding! He toasted the roll perfectly, the deli meat and cheese, really everything about the sandwich was perfect. A great spot to stop for a sandwich, highly recommend it! read more

Love that they deliver. Had placed a few orders for delivery. Tried the spicy pastrami, spicy Italian, chipotle so Gouda, the Frankie, double New Yorker, potato salad and Italian pasta salad. The pasta salad had a bit too much dressing, but was good. Everything was fresh and tasty. Price was fair. Will be coming and ordering from here more often read more

I am staying down in spring valley for a dog sitting job, I was starving! This place looked so yummy. I placed an order for delivery on their website. Got a confirmation and everything. I always screenshot them to be safe. An hour and a half goes by and I haven't gotten my order. So I Called and the guy said he never even received my order.... ummmm I would have believed that if I didn't get a confirmation that says "your order has been received." I waited an hour and 30 mins for nothing! And now I'm so damn hungry I could eat a horse. Thanks a lot deli belly. Good job. Will never go here due to this experience. Deserves no stars. read more

NY flavor subs in SoCal sunshine! I always get the squaw roll no matter the sandwich, it's whatsup!! Makes a big difference in flavor and construction of the sandwich. I have ordered the Chipotle So Gouda sandwich so many times and it's consistently always amazing and the only better sub is not even close to this area. This time I ordered for pick-up while getting things done around EC. Their estimated ready time is always quite longer than it actually is, it was quite fast and this time it only took about 20 mins. I believe I spoke with Norah on the phone, she was quite helpful and also when we checked out. Great shop for a yummy quick stop in a beautiful place. read more

Woooow! Great spot to eat. I can't believe I've lived so close for so long and I've never tried it. I got the roast beef sandwich and my wife got a turkey and cheese. It was delightful :). History

Established in 2013.

By 1933, distribution of Boar's Head Brand products had grown. It was at that time that the founder, Frank Brunckhorst, dissatisfied with the quality of cooked hams which were available to him, decided that he would open a manufacturing plant of his own. The first plant was started in a small building in Brooklyn with only three employees. Even back then there were thousands of delicatessens in New York City, and there were a great number of small manufacturers of delicatessen specialties. The competition among these manufacturers was keen; and as a result, very high standards were set for the quality of delicatessen products. Frank Brunckhorst set his own high standards, and he would not vary from them. The building was attractive and inviting from outside, so I decided to go in and give it a shot. I walked in and was greeted by the friendly staff and asked what was their recommendation.
