The lady working (Jade) I'd like to say her name was took excellent care of us, the food itself was amazing and very well balanced between veggie and meat amounts, on top of the food being perfected the service was above and beyond making sure that everything was taken care of. Delicious deli in East County. First, very reasonably priced: I didn't look at my receipt because honestly, with a final tab of $17 and change how could I argue? I do know the sandwich with one side and my choice of "Dirty Brand" potato chips was a meal special. Lol look at the photo-1/2 sandwich on an onion roll stuffed with very thinly sliced turkey (Boars Head)and veggies of your choosing. Deli Belly offers many bread choices including this huge onion roll, sourdough, white, wheat and squaw. The bread was very fresh, the meat plenty(hey, you'd usually pay extra for all of this turkey,) plus crisp bacon and cheese. I chose swiss, but the usual suspects and havarti no less were options. Like most deli's you can choose your veggies, and I added banana peppers. I didn't watch while my sandwich was being prepared so I had no idea how much Deli Belly emphasizes the quality and generous portions of their proteins. You see the photo of the sandwich? The ratio of protein to veggies has to be @ least 70%-this is the kind of meal you split into two on your workday and skip the snacks! But I ramble.... The sides are better than you might think;homemade flavors. I added salt and white pepper to the two salads and naturally, added a toasty flavor to the clam chowder with black pepper. The $20 I spent including tip will be served up into three healthy, pre-prepared meals. *WINNER for the best new deli I've visited in 2019-2020. Ahh, I'm not quite through. The service was excellent-happy well-groomed, all around nice guy. Sodas: fountain style or premium bottle brand. Two additional sides on the menu plus another soup. Cheesecake slices, carrot cake and one other. Pick up and delivery. Open @ 10:00 the day of my visit. Parking lot.

We recently moved to El Cajon and have been looking for a new sandwich shop. This place has great reviews, so we were enthusiastic about trying it. We finished our sandwiches, which were soggy and somewhat unappetizing, and then opened our desserts to discover huge green spots of mold all over the whipped cream. I can't imagine how they missed that when they were packing it... and how they are handling their food to let it get that moldy. Yuck. Not feeling good about that sandwich I ate now.

I giving a 3 star because of the fresh ingredients but unfortunately the past 2 times I have called in orders they have been wrong (wrong bread every time) even when we are ordering directly from the menu without any changes. The potato salad is usually amazing but this time around it was running and half cooked potatoes, for $23 dollar lunch we were highly disappointed. Also, waited 20 minutes to arrive for pick up and the sandwiches have not been started. I have a short lunch break which is why I call ahead of time. No one seemed to care actually laughed when we came in and it wasn't ready. We will be looking for a new sand which shop in our area moving forward.

This place has delicious great tasting sandwiches and food.Its not the cheapest place in town, but the quality of the food and the service is far superior that nearly every place we have eaten at.Friendly,polite service that is prompt even during lunch when the place can get packed. We ordered from here last night for dinner and omg! This place is awesome! It was so good and the food tasted just fresh and natural and light. I ordered the sweet and Smokey and my husband ordered the Valhalla on rye and we both loved everything. The deli meat was good all the veggies were fresh and I loved their sweet mustard! This is a good option for deli sandwiches and they have some interesting sandwiches on the menu. We've ordered from here a few times and they have made small mistakes on the side items we ordered which was not a huge deal for me. Although I wouldn't recommend their bakery items, they didn't taste fresh at all, very dry and lackluster. They use good ingredients as far as the meats and cheeses go. The bread is fine, but I feel like it could be better, it's a little dry. I think what makes this deli interesting for me is some of the spicier sandwich options that I've tried, they were all pretty tasty. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, but the chipotle one they use isn't bad. I think the best sandwich I tried here was the Belly Hot Jerk. So many delis describe their sandwiches as spicy and they inevitably disappoint terribly. This sandwich hits the mark! It's really good and actually spicy as promised. Plus they give you pickle spears with your sandwiches, something missing from a lot of sandwich places now, I have to fight my son for one though, every time :-) read more

Went here looking for a closer alternative to DZ Akins. Had an urge for bagel & cream cheese. Got a mailer ad saying it was a NY style deli otherwise would have never considered it. Turns out to be just a sandwich shop. Not bad but on par with the deli at Albertsons. There was a line so they apparently have a following but I doubt we will go back. read more

If I had one criticism of Deli Belly it's that I go there thinking I know exactly what I want and end up changing my mind several times because everything here is so good, and I always want to try new things. Fresh bread, fresh boars Head meats and cheeses, and exciting sandwich combinations keep me coming back here! Delicious cheese cake, Dirty brand kettle chips and craft soft drinks don't hurt either read more

If i was capable of awarding 10 stars to a place it would be this one. First, the food is out of this world, i love delis and this little place has set the bar very high for me. I was staying with a friend and we got hungry. I'm not from the area and didn't know what was around. She said there was a sandwich shop around the corner from her place. She meant a chain sandwich shop and I immediately Yelped for something better... Deli Belly popped up. The deli is clean, had squaw bread and rolls and a great selection of signature sandwiches. I also love that they use Boar's Head meats. I got my typical favorite sandwich of roast beef, turkey & provolone on squaw roll since it was my first time there while my friend ordered the Valhalla Orange Nation. Absolutley TERRIBLE customer service. Its disgusting and unacceptable how we were treated. We were first time customers after hearing great reviews and recomendations from our friends who frequent often. Manager is never in. The person in charge said he has no idea when he'll be in and proveeded to tell me he was busy and hung up on me . I'm beyond disgusted. Lets just say we will never recomend this place and our friends and family wont either. My husband and I ordered Togo food from really pretty late . It was amazing ! I got the sweet and smoky and he got the chipotle one. It was all super delicious and fresh. The bacon was so crispy!The delivery was fast and the driver was nice. I enjoyed it so much I'm still eating while writing this review ! We're glad we found a new amazing place! read more

I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Squaw bread and it was amazing! Came back again for a second time and it was just as good as I remembered. I've been to a lot of good sandwich shops and this one is up with the best! The bread was soft and delicious while the meats were perfectly prepared. I eat big meals often and felt that the sandwich was a filling size. Definitely a place that I will continue to go when I'm craving a sandwich. Although the meal was great, there's always room for improvement. I only noticed two things that I believe could make this place better. One, I got different chips both times I went and I felt that the brand of chips they sell lack flavor. The next time I go, I probably won't order chips. A solid bag of chips can really make a sandwich that much better so it's unfortunate. Second, they hand out cards that they stamp for you to get a free meal eventually. The problem is that you have to buy 8 to get the 9th free. If your not an everyday goer this will take you a year to do, so it's not very enticing. Getting nit-picky here but if it was buy 6 get the 7th free I would certainly come more often! Overall, I'd definitely advise you go try for yourself! I'll be back. read more

I go here 2-3 times a week my family goes all the time also. I recommended this place. Just left my sandwich behind after I paid for it. The guy forgot lettuce and tomato so he took the meat soaked in mustard off put on a dirty counter then scooped it back up with all the little pieces of sandwiches from before and dropped it on the bread. Not even using paper, really not cool. I am done here, will never come back. Nor will my family. Now I will be letting all my customers I told to go here not to go. read more

Great new sandwich shop in El Cajon. Family run with a eye towards quality (Boar's Head cold cuts, Mexican Coke and daily delivered bread) I've yet to have anything I didn't love. WHEN YOU GO- Their version of an Italian sub, the Frankie Carbonne, is my go to here. Lots of the bad stuff- salami, cheese ham doused with their own dressing on a house roll...mmmmm! After seeing great reviews on Yelp so my boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try. We walked in and were greeted by a man and a woman who were working there. They asked if it was our first time there and we said yes. They were very helpful and friendly and let us try samples of some of the meats and cheeses! I got a white bread roll with the jerk turkey, cheddar, mayo and mustard, tomatoes, black olives, jalapeños, and lettuce. This was the best sandwich I have ever tasted in my life. (I am not exaggerating). It was absolutely amazing and the most flavorful sandwich I have ever had. And I appreciate that they don't skimp out on the portions like other sandwich shops. Definitely better than the crap they have at Subway! Anyways this is an absolutely amazing hidden gem and I recommend anyone to try this place! Sadly, on my second return here the employees were not as kind as the first time. Not even a smile or a hello from any of the three employees, and the girl behind the counter made me feel really uncomfortable with how unfriendly and monotone she was; to a point where I wanted to hurry up and leave as soon as I could. The owners should look into hiring people with good people skills and not the awkward kids from the high school down the street. The sandwich was still good but I was upset with the fact that it wasn't toasted even after I was asked if I wanted it toasted and I said "yes" and she proceeded to not do so. read more

Ordered ahead using PayPal, which was awesome. Menu was super easy to use. Picked up my order 10 minutes later and it was perfect! The two guys there were very attentive and polite. Best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. Clam chowder, antipasto salad and potato salad. Husband and kids were also huge fans. Will definitely, definitely be back! read more

History

Established in 2013.

By 1933, distribution of Boar's Head Brand products had grown. It was at that time that the founder, Frank Brunckhorst, dissatisfied with the quality of cooked hams which were available to him, decided that he would open a manufacturing plant of his own. The first plant was started in a small building in Brooklyn with only three employees. Even back then there were thousands of delicatessens in New York City, and there were a great number of small manufacturers of delicatessen specialties. The competition among these manufacturers was keen; and as a result, very high standards were set for the quality of delicatessen products. Frank Brunckhorst set his own high standards, and he would not vary from them. Before long, Boar's Head Brand products could be found in all of the best delicatessens, gourmet stores and fine food establishments in the New York area. Deli Belly uses only the best in all our products...Boars Head Quality Meats.

It's crunchy, refreshing, and so satisfying that you honestly don't even miss the bread. Now when I'm extra hungry, their breads are fresh and the sandwiches are top-notch across the board. You really can't go wrong. Just a heads up -- they close at 3 PM daily, so if you're not there by then, you'll have to catch them another day. I've been eyeing this place for awhile for a post gym meal! Finally got to check it out, and it did…read morenot disappoint. It was pretty bustling the day I went so you could hear active sizzling on the skillet and sandwiches being made. I got the french dip to go and a couple of pre-made desserts to go. I didn't eat the sandwich for about 45 minutes because I had some errands on the way home, and the french dip was surprisingly still warm. It was so good!!!! I'm sure it would have been even better if I had eaten it while it was fresh and hot. Service was friendly, and my order was prepared in about five minutes. There were a handful of spots to sit inside and some outside seating. Ambiance was super casual (order at the counter and wait for your name to be called type place). I will definitely return again!

Stays together without getting soggy and turning into a mess. The meats and cheeses are fresh as well and it's just an all around great sandwich. The interior is simple with a few tables and a big enough area to wait for your freshly made food. Be patient, they get busy and for good reason. It's not fast food, but it's good food! I definitely want to come back but unfortunately the hours are only Monday to Friday 8:00 - 4:00 pm so I can't stop by unless I have a day off work.

I was in El Cajon taking care of some business and became hungry. I was craving a sandwich and saw the Deli Belly. The building was attractive and inviting from outside, so I decided to go in and give it a shot. I walked in and was greeted by the friendly staff and asked what was their recommendation. Their Sweet and Smokey sandwich is very popular, but I went with their FA sandwich (corned beef, pastrami and cheddar cheese on white bread). It was absolutely delicious.
