The mediocre, instead of the supply of chips and salsa like lesser Mex rest's they sold chips with 3 types of sauce with only one being interesting (the creamy chipotle). The guac appetizer with pecans was good. My wife couldn't drink the margarita (I agreed and sent it back). First time ever anywhere. Something was off with whatever their special margarita mix is. Replaced it with a nice normal Bloody Mary.. I order a shot of lower shelf tequila (aged tequila bores me) and was charged for Anejo. (I have a couple of bottles at home). We left stuffed. After reading an article in the paper that cited this place as being one of the top rated in the midwest and seeing it had such high reviews, we decided to give it a try with another couple on a date night. The short version of my 3 rating is simply that our experience was not a great value for the cost. On the positive side, they do have their own parking available, with spots both in front of the building as well as accessible via a narrow lane to a lot behind the building. We were fortunate to get the last spot available in back. The restaurant wasn't packed, so I'm guessing these go quickly, especially if folks drive solo after work to meet up. We started with the Queso Fundido ($15), but vegetarian style as my wife does not eat meat. We have had this dish several times at Cholita and love it. On style/appearance, it is a 5 star as it comes out bubbling hot and looks amazing. I thought it tasted fine, but my wife who loves cheese didn't love the combination of cheeses used. She also wasn't a fan of the chips, being a tad bland. I ordered the Fish Tacos ($23). I believe there were 2 tacos in the order (it was a week ago and my memory is not the steel trap it once was). I thought they were good as the corn tortillas were well done and the fish was a decent portion. The side of beans and rice were just OK. The rice seemed pretty dry, so I added it to the beans because they had an excess of liquid. I've definitely had better on both. My wife ordered the Enchiladas de Verduras ($24), which she very much liked. She thought it was a nice blend of vegetables and flavors. Overall, the food was fine. Service was just OK. Neither of these components from our isolated experience were in the ballpark for warranting the price point of the menu. Stopped in during devour Indy on the recommendation of a friend. Very impressive space. I was alone so sat at the bar. Bar was not busy on a weekday, but the dining room area was hopping. Started with the ceviche. Absolutely wonderful! Went with the Curried Coconut Mahi for the main course. The chimichurri verde that accompanied the fish took this dish over the top! It was so good! Presentation was also impressive (see photo). A nice piece of vanilla flan ended the meal. The food deserves a 5-star rating, and I WILL be back! So why four stars? Not one person asked me "how was your meal?", or "how is everything?". I would have raved to them about the flavor I experienced, but no one asked. That seems odd to me and left me with the impression that maybe they don't care if I like it or not. I'm not saying that was the case. It just seemed odd. Like I said, I'll be back. read more

This weekend was my first time dining at Delicia and it was absolutely amazing! Hands down great food and ambiance. It's definitely a more intimate setting, so I wouldn't recommend a party larger than 4-6 people. I noticed the group next to us was split up, plus the layout doesn't accommodate large groups in the main dining space. For starters, we ordered the Queso Con Chorizo and that by far was the BEST queso I've had in Indianapolis. The chips were homemade and fresh. As an entree, I ordered the CAZUELA DE MARISCOS. This dish is full of seafood, great flavor, and a slight kick. It's almost like a Latin inspired gumbo. My wife ordered the BARBACOA TAMAL and it was one of the best takes on a tamale I've ever had. The portions are also the perfect size. We also had an amazing server, which made the experience top notch. Everything we had was phenomenal from the food to the drinks to the service. You can not go wrong at Delicia. This is now my wife's favorite restaurant, so I'm sure we will be back soon (like next week soon lol). read more

Honestly wasn't impressed. The menu wasn't very extensive, and the price for the amount of food you receive didn't seem to compliment each other. my salad was good, but you can't go wrong with lettuce lol the dressing was really good. My step dads portion was very small and it cost him $27 and he was still hungry following his meal. Limited parking in the front. There is some parking in the back, but its a one way to come in and out of the back lot which could be dangerous. Honestly can't say I'd be back for another visit. read more

First and foremost, the parking lot is very limited so plan in getting there early or doing street parking. Taylor was an amazing server and the best at describing items on the menu. Everything we ordered was fantastic. I've been wanting to go to Delicia for the last few years and it didn't disappoint. We ordered the queso fundido which came out bubbling hot and so flavorful. Next was the barbacoa tamal which tasted exactly like Taylor described, the beef was shredded and so tender! This is my absolute favorite place to treat myself. The tamal corn cakes were my favorite when they were on the menu. Now I try and branch off to try new things and I've never been disappointed. We've had Delicia on our Indy Restaurant list for awhile and finally crossed it off. Feeling transported into another country, the atmosphere and music were like a tropical vacation. We started with the Fire N' Ice and Matador cocktails - both very good. The first spicy, the latter a perfect smoky mezcal with citrus. Our appetizer was the Queso Fundido, which came with a side of chips (my preference over tortillas). For our entrees, my husband got the Short Rib and I got the Chicken Mole. The sauce on the Short Rib tasted great and it melted in your mouth, but be warned the build-your-own taco format is a bit of work. I was underwhelmed by the Chicken Mole. The sauce carried the dish since the chicken and potatoes needed more seasoning and character. Overall, I look forward to going back and have my eye on the Curry! read more

Delicia has become our go-to celebrate spot in Indy. It's in Broad Ripple, where we live, and we always passed right by it without thought. We decided to try to find somewhere in our neighborhood to celebrate a few months ago and from the first bite we were hooked. On our first trip, we got the salmon and short ribs. The short ribs melt in your mouth. It is one of my favorite entrees I have ever gotten at a restaurant. The second time we got a seafood dish that was super flavorful and filling in addition to the short ribs. The churros have to be ordered at any Delicia visit. Fantastic place for a nice date, special celebrations, etc. our service was really good! They take reservations. We wanted to do a reservation place because we had a show to catch. I had the curried coconut mahi dish and it was unbelievably good. The taste was all amazing. All flavors that melded well with each other. The mahi had a great cook on it and the rice was a great accompaniment. The curry was the star! I need that in my life. Also had a fabric dessert too. We had two of their cocktails and they were a mojito and a papaya daiquiri. They were made well and the presentation of the entire meal and drinks was very impressive. We had a lovely experience here for Valentine's Day! We did show up 10 minutes late due to traffic but the host was very kind. We actually sat on the other side of the main restaurant which was very chill. The drinks (especially the fire n ice) were so good. We got the short rib pizza (little overdone IMO), the tuna tostada (just one medium size tostada) so good and packed with flavor and could definitely be shared for two. I have heard about Delicia from people near and far. I never thought I would actually go, since I knew the cost is on point with the style of restaurant it is--upscale. When the heavens dropped a gift card in my hand, I jumped at the chance. The reservation was made and the plan was set. Walking in you get the upscale vibe right way. The lighting is dim and romantic. The music (if there was any) was muffled by the chatter of happy patrons looking and feeling their best. The server was amazing and responsive. He also left us a lone for a long time, which is awesome. They let you breathe here and the timing from app to main course is just right. Take your time here and enjoy the company you came with. The food was awesome. The Fundido was incredible down to the last drop of cheese and crumb of tortilla chip. The Duck Enchilada was incredible and you will want more, though your full stomach may fight you on that. We sat along the bench seat and though it looked crowded, it never felt like we were on top of anyone else. I can't say I would spend the money to eat here, but if that's you ($100 for 2, with a drink) then you find your money very well spent. read more

We went here for Devour Indy, and I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. To start, my Visco Manhattan was really good. It's fruity but not overly sweet, with the herby scent of the rosemary twig giving it a unique taste. I got the taquito appetizer. Wow, so good! I wanted more, but it ended up being plenty of food overall. The guacamole was spicy and the taquito meat was juicy. My partner got the shrimp ceviche, which was super fresh and citrusy. My main entree was the Caribbean jerk chicken. Absolutely delicious! The chicken was so tender and juicy, the breading was sweet and a little spicy, the mole verde sauce was flavorful and all together with the rice it just went really well. My partner got the curried coconut mahi. That tasted really good too. The fish was cooked perfectly, and with the chimichurri, rice, and carrot purée, every bite was packed with flavor. Lastly we had the flan. Holy crap. Best flan I've ever had. Had a little bit of whipped cream and powdered sugar sprinkled on top, and the flan itself was so creamy and the caramel flavor hits just right. Amazing meal! Edit to add: our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable about each dish. He answered our questions and gave us insight to what flavors we were tasting. Pretty cool experience. read more

Definitely a diamond in the rough. I didn't expect this ambiance when I walked in but I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted immediately and Alejandro was our waiter. He was very helpful and attentive since it was my first time there. We started off with drinks and the fire and ice was really yummy. The classic margarita was good as well. I loved the details with the infusion of ingredients within the ice mold . Our appetizer was the shrimp and crab terrine. It was very fresh and I added a splash of lime to really bring out the flavors. It was good. For dinner. We had the short ribs and salmon. Everything tasted intentional of that makes sense. All the flavors were there and the presentation was on point. Our favs were the short ribs (it was cooked to perfection) and the plantains. I could've ate those all night . My salmon was a little over cooked but we didn't leave anything on our plates. That's the only thing I can think of that stuck out. Enjoyed the Pescado y Papas (fish and chips). This is a "play" on fish and chips and a much welcomed upgrade in my book! The fish is lightly fried and atop a corn salsa-like succotash. If I were to walk around the intersection of 52nd Street and College Avenue twenty years ago, I couldn't find a truly wonderful restaurant within a mile. Sure, I could easily get a great cup of joe in the area; a good burger and a beer were easy to find. However, true culinary arts were in short supply. That was then, and this is now. Delicia stays true to the spirit of the neighborhood: it isn't overpriced and uptight, and it remains among the finest restaurants in the city. Serving an interesting amalgamation of Latin cuisine, it is a must-try. Delicia is fancy. Just take a gander into the dining room. Refined, unique, and classy, the restaurant's warm ambiance skillfully foreshadows an excellent meal. It's hardly imaginable this space was once the video store from my teenage years. Everything that entered my mouth at Delicia was nothing short of fantastic. I suggest starting your meal with a caipirinha, Brazil's favorite cocktail - especially if the weather is warm. The guacamole is always a solid starter, but a better choice is the meatballs. Although not present on the menu (as of this writing), be sure to ask your server. They're so good in fact, be sure to call 'first dibs,' or they'll surely disappear. For your meal, look no further than the empanadas. The barbacoa beef and chihuahua cheese inside a puff pastry is delectable. The creamy habanero sauce adds provides the perfect amount of piquancy to the dish. It's a generous portion, too, which is always preferred. Delicia has churros for dessert. What's better than churros? Hardly anything. Dining at Delicia during the pandemic was a great experience. My retinue and I used our phones to peruse the menu, and the staff wore masks at all times. The restaurant used a portion of its front parking lot for outdoor dining space, and the social distance between tables greatly exceeded the CDC guidelines. I've wanted to come to this place for a long time; thankfully today I was able to visit and man was I impressed. The service is amazing, we were seated right away and the tables were social distanced. All of the servers had masks as well. The menu you look at using a QR code, and it pulls up on your Menu on your phone, there are so many choices for food and drinks it was hard to make a decision. For drinks I had a delicious bloody Maria, it had a spicy rim and wasn't overly thick which is something that I look for. I also had an American matador made with mezcal tequila, and it was smokey and delicious. Food is also essential, and we started with the fundito queso and three different types of salsa, they had a unique mint pea salsa that was very refreshing. For the main course, I had BREAKFAST ENCHILADA duck tinga, scrambled eggs, creamy habanero sauce, queso Blanco, green rice. I loved my dish, it was delicious! The service was also fantastic. Wow wow wow. The CAZUELA DE MARISCOS was amazing! I could've licked the plate clean for more of the white wine-saffron sauce. The seafood (mussels, calamari, shrimp, smoked bay scallops) were all cooked really well and not rubbery. Rice and the grilled baguettes helped me get more of that sauce up! It was fantastic. Hubs got the barbacoa tamal- it had a great flavor but a ton of onions which he had to pick out. The herb green rice was great too. We had spicy margs and they were great- not too sweet, maybe could do with some more heat. But was poured in a pint glass- which was a bonus.
