This is one of those fast, casual gems, the kind that locals know about and mob. We got there for lunch and just beat the crowd. Wow, a line out the door. And, the staff keep up with the demand, not only preparing the good food but also keeping the place clean and providing a real sense of welcome. I had a shrimp cocktail that was good and while I ordered the small size more than enough. My wife had the breaded shrimp, which were really quite outstanding. For THE best fish tacos, go to the food truck, Taco Fish at Grant and 6th. This will do for many people. Just not me. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. This place like all restaurants are hit or miss. I usually get the fish tacos. Very good as long as all the toppings are on it. If ordering thru a delivery app that may be an issue. The rice is done to perfection, however, there have been times where the beans taste like a tin can. Makes you wonder sometimes. What I do like is that they give you limes as well. Well for the most part they do if you order delivery. Some day, I'll stop in and see if the service or food is better. I do like their fish and shrimp tacos though. Very flavorful. read more

I ordered the steak bowl with some flour tortillas, the meal was okay. The tortillas was small, the bowl will be enough for you to get full for lunch. This spot would be ideal if you want to grab something on the go for lunch but you don't really care how good it taste. The steak itself is thinly cut and little or no seasoning on it. If you dine in they have complimentary tortilla chips but when I was there it wasn't refilled. It can get packed during lunch hours so if you're planning to dine in with more than four people, I suggest you come a bit early to grab some tables. Would I come back? First time in Tucson. Challenged myself to fish tacos. Wasn't my first choice as it was late. Seemed like a chain, but had a personable feel while ordering. I don't know if it was because I was the last customer, but service was friendly. Ordered two fish tacos, one fried, other grilled, and one shrimp taco to go. Cooked to order and offered chips and salsa. I took both mild salsas. Both good, but I really liked their house red. I've eaten a lot of fish tacos in SoCal, these were surprisingly good. Fried fish was not too oily and actually the best one of the three. Grilled was good too. Shrimp was good, but two or three more could have been in there. Place was clean, easily visible from the street at the Tucson Place strip mall, lots of free parking. Definitely worth the price and would go again. read more

The shrimp and battered fish tacos are very good. They also have $1.00 tacos daily. This place is great friendly clean never had a bad experience and I've been there multiple times. Check them out you won't be disappointed.Side note there beers are cheap and they have micheladas. read more

I came here once a year ago before covoid hit to see what all the local neighborhood hype was all about. When all is said and done I was not much a fan of the quality of the food. I believe I ordered a chicken and/ or beef taco along with a side of rice and chips and salsa and the bill was actually pretty hefty. Mr. Baja Fish in Tucson reminds me of home in SoCal. The shrimp tacos-both grilled or battered-are delicious. I love the sauce that comes on them. I get the grilled tacos, but battered style with slaw instead of the grilled peppers and onions that come in the grilled version. The staff is nice. My first time to Baja for some quick fish Tacos to go. I ordered two grilled fish tacos an Asada Quesadilla plate that included rice and choice of refried or whole beans. The service felt rushed. When you order it is at the counter like fast food and the menu that is on the board was not super clear. The selection is basic very basic. The sit down dining area is not comfortable with very bright lights and no atmosphere. They have a small bar that includes salsas, peppers and pickled vegetables. When I got home I tried a bite of the fish. It was low quality and not grilled throughly so it was a bit mushy and bland. I gave the rest to my Puppy. It was not terrible but not appetizing. The rice and beans were average with not a lot of taste and the Quesadilla was more greasy than I like but I must end it on a positive and say the Asada had a nice flavor and was cooked well. All and All nothing special and I would have been just as happy at another fast food-ish Mexican in town and not spent $17. I will say the food is not bad but I would not go out of my way to eat here. I will not be back there are many other casual, fast Mexican restaurants that are better and less expensive all over Tucson. read more

Since I work nearby I thought I'd give this place a try, because I LOVE shrimp tacos, and there aren't many places I can get good ones around town. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly hello, the cashier explained the menu and how it works, helped me with my custom order of shrimp tacos with only cabbage and baja sauce, and then relayed it directly to the chef. You also get complimentary chips and salsa and other "fixins", and if you order the combo it comes with rice and beans. Besides tacos, they also offer bowls, burritos, taco salad, and quesadillas - all with your choice of proteins.They also have shrimp cocktail and ceviche, but I didn't try either of those on this visit. My food was fantastic, the environment was clean, upbeat and super friendly. The shrimp are not the teeny size most places use. There were 5 good sized, meaty and very fresh tasting shrimp in each taco. I took a bunch of menus back to my office and shared my experience with my coworkers who all said they've been wanting to try it, but had not yet. I used to frequent this spot when it was Starbucks and was so curious how they made that small space a restraunt, they made it completely functional. Just had a delicious 2 fish taco meal, one grilled and the other batter fried served along with rice and tasty refried beans, best part not drenched in cheddar cheese,rather topped off with traditional queso fresco.The fish tacos had generous perfectly seasoned portions of fish and better yet, sea bass ! WOW!!!!!! This place is amazing!!! Food is flavored just right and you get PLENTY for the price. The have a few salsas to choose from from a mild Pico to a very hot one ( didn't try so can't comment on the hotness). They have good variety of condiments to choose from as well. I have eaten at many Mexican food places in a variety of states including Mexico and this is hands down in the top 3 only being out done by a place in Mexico and well.......my own mamas kitchen!!! The food was decent here. But they made my order wrong, I didn't find out until I got home, so that's very annoying.

This place lacks consistency. Sometimes the food is excellent and the service is great, other times every table is dirty during non-peak times and the food is awful. I was served two tostadas that were so god dam burnt they were black, and the shrimps looked like they were dumped out of a can from the Walmart across the parking lot. Pathetic! My most recent visit was quite satisfactory. Good food and clean tables. Their salsa and condiment bar is formidable. I'll give them yet another shot and will report back. read more
