We tried the glazed raspberry jelly, powdered raspberry jelly, powdered lemon jelly, Bavarian crème w chocolate glaze, Ube (purple sweet potato filling was amazing!!!! Not too sweet- absolute perfection!), and chocolate donut w sprinkles. Their raised donuts and cake donuts are both phenomenal. Lots of fun, creative donuts in store that are not listed on the website. Fun and different flavor combos available too like red bean filling w coconut or pandan frosted with sweet mung bean filling. They have gigantic cinnamon rolls as well! We have tried NOLA, Blue Star, Voodoo Donuts, Dunkin Donuts, Kristy Kreme, and Shipley's. This is absolutely the worst place ever. Their customer service is null and void. they're very rude. they overcharge and they won't accept tender like $100 and they think that everyone is an inconvenience when walking into their establishment. OK, you get the idea. That's pretty much Delicious Donuts, only they've got stricter operating hours. In fact, they're closed on Sunday of all days. That's weird for a donut/breakfast shoppe, right? (EDIT: I did since read on their site this is because they're a family business and still enjoy spending time together. Hats off again TBH.) Delicious Donuts has saved money on everything. Humble interior, minimal marketing budget in a town with full-on donuts wars, bare-bones storefront, etc. And they've passed all the savings onto you in the form of legitimately cheap and delicious donuts. Even their damn literal name cuts to the point. Though it's worth noting that their breakfast sandwiches and burritos are ALSO delicious. And frankly, will also make you hate yourself if it isn't cheat day. A possible slogan for this place would be: "If it wasn't cheat day before...it is now!" So look, if you need to overpay to show out-of-towners that a donut can be made with boysenberry reduction (Blue Star) or into the shape of a limpy dong (VooDoo) then that's one thing. But if you need great donuts at a fair price without any of the BS, then Delicious Donuts is the spot. read more

This is where I stop when I'm bringing donuts into the office. It's in a strip mall, next to a Plaid Pantry, just south of Burnside. Nothing that really makes it stand out from the outside. Inside is about what you'd expect from a strip mall donut place - a bit of a throw back o a 70s or 80s donut shop, with a few laminate/molded booths, a display case, and counter to order from. The donuts are donuts - nothing fancy, just a solid donut at a fair price (11.50 for a baker's dozen) The place where they really shine is their efficiency. Friendly service, and I'm usually in and out of here with an assorted dozen (with a vegan donut or two to boot) in just a few minutes. read more

We tried a fancy one with prepaid and peanut butter which was great as well as a apple fritter, awesome and a couple other traditional donuts which were equally great. My husband and I came here in Jan 2016 on an anniversary trip. Amongst competitors like Blue Star and VooDoo donuts, we felt Delicious Donuts was infinitely a win. We came back to Portland and went out of our way to visit Delicious Donuts for a second time! Prices of donuts are incredibly reasonable. The small, more intimate family vibe of the storefront is a plus. The variety of donut choices led us to split four donuts: a maple old-fashioned, a glazed, a blueberry, and a maple bar. They were all wonderful, classic, light, and fresh. And I actually don't typically like donuts. The owners of this shop are fantastic; very personable. They cared about the taste of their donuts and checked in with us about the quality (which we assured them was amazing, even two years later). If you're looking for a personal, unpretentious morning goodie, I would strongly recommend supporting this local, family-owned business. We'll definitely be back. read more

Ok, so at work I may have organized a "Maple Bar Madness" tournament during the march madness NCAA basketball season. I never would have noticed Delicious Donuts (as their sign so eloquently states) as it is adjacent to that inexorably puzzling Plaid Pantry that is frequented by all manner of unsavory types. However, we happened to be stumbling past en route to Ararat from the Doug Fir at the witching hour (midnight), when suddenly our senses were overtaken by one of the most delicious smells on earth, that of freshly baked and frosted donuts, emanating from behind the Plaid Pantry/Delicious Donuts building. Like helpless creatures in a tractor beam, we drifted inevitably towards the front doors of Delicious Donuts. To our horror, the lights were dark, the display cases empty, and our eyes settled on the brutal addendum to the closed sign: "DONUTS SOLD OUT." Wailing and rending of garments ensued. As we turned away, defeated, we heard that magical sound of a door opening. "Wait," cried an angelic voice behind us, "we have donuts if you want." We turned to see a cherubic donut bakeress. Her ebon tresses glinted in the moonlight. She beckoned us into Delicious Donuts, where a heavenly light glowed from the back door, silhouetting a rack that had been wheeled out, laden with row upon row of freshly baked donuts. Tucked into the corner of this itty-bitty strip of stores, Delicious Donuts is a hidden treasure. I first heard about this place while visiting my ex-in-law's church, of all places, when the minister actually encouraged the congregation to visit the place (but not on Sunday, of course). Since it's on the way to my kids' school, we decided to stop by and by golly, that minister was right about one thing... these donuts are like heaven on earth. Delicious, they are. Light and not too oily. They're wonderful. Now that I've realized I'm gluten-intolerant I can only smell their glory, but the kids eat them on a semi-regular basis. I will not be badmouthing other "touristy" donut shops in town in this review. We just shouldn't do such things when we are talking about places that put out the same product as other establishments in town. Why isn't Delicious Donuts a must see destination on ones trip to Portland? I don't know. Probably because it sits on the side of a nondescript strip mall(?) on the east side of the Burnside Bridge. Not the prettiest part of town, but pretty isn't a taste and the donuts here are pretty delicious. Really been wanting to come here for a long time. Really. I'm not joking. I don't eat donuts all that often, but I certainly don't deny myself that they exist and that I should be able to enjoy them once in a long while. I like my donut shops divey and this one is definitely divey. What isn't divey about it is the friendly service. The girl behind the counter talked to me like we were old friends. Sure, she was definitely trying to sell me more donuts as they were at the tail end of their day when I got in so I wasn't getting the freshest donuts out there, but they certainly weren't stale. I bought 3 and that was enough sugar my body would be able to take on this day. I got a chocolate glazed, an apple fritter (fritteringly good) and a longer chocolate donut that probably should have had cream inside, but didn't. The girl said she would fill it with cream if I wanted it, but I decided against it. Again. Probably a bit too much sugar for one day, but everything in moderation. I took them back to work with me and enjoyed them throughout the day. The apple fritter was really good. The others were pretty standard, but a good donut is a good donut. The co-owner, Penny, usually operates the front counter and genuinely attempts to converse with everybody. She treats every guest like family and actually remembered my name as well as my food order after my first visit. Very impressive! The food is wonderful. I am a huge fan of the breakfast burger, and Penny instructs the cook to prepare it "special" for me (free of charge) because she remembers that I like my food extra spicy. My favorite donuts in the city. Delicious and a great deal! $1 each for all donuts, except for "big donuts" (fritters, bear claws and cinnamon rolls), which are $1.50. They are even cheaper when you order a half dozen or dozen. I love the fritters; always light, airy and perfectly greasy. Anything maple glazed is a slam dunk. Their filled donuts are so full of cream or jam that I wonder how they fit all that in there. There are so many ways to get FREE donuts: Follow them on Instagram, check in on Yelp, buy an espresso drink on Monday or a breakfast item on Wednesday. Rad. Speaking of breakfast items, they are just as delicious and reasonably priced as their donuts. For $3.75 you can get an egg, cheese and bacon, sausage or ham sandwich on either toast, an english muffin or a glazed donut. SO TASTY. You can order extra meat on any sandwich for $0.60. Their breakfast burritos are really yummy, too ($5.25). Boun and Penny run a true family business. They always remember me and say "hi" with a smile. For the Yelpers that knocked off stars because of their weird hours or "poor service" - they are a 2 person operation with little help. If you were trying to run a kitchen, donut counter, and wholesale operation, I bet you would have some off days too. Give them a break! Sure, you should visit VooDoo- after all it's been the princess of Food Network and Bourdain, and it is a landmark tourist destination for the out-of-towner, but if it's a fresh melt in your mouth donut you want, this is the place to go. When someone told me I would have to actually get out of bed early in the morning if I ever wanted to taste Delicious Donuts, my heart broke a little bit. I'm no morning person. I usually take my donuts for brunch, or even dessert. But I'd heard enough good things (and the location was just so convenient) that I decided to set my alarm for 6 in the morning and take my morning run down to Grand. Yeah, I used my morning run as an excuse to get a bag of donuts. I could find no greater motivation for running - or waking up early. I got there early and was pleased to see a large selection of donuts. A couple other people were there but they were already eating away. I ordered about six doughnuts and ate one on my (uh, walk) home. The old fashioned is the best I've had in Portland, thanks yelpers! I dropped the other five off to my favorite bike mechanics thinking just one would be enough to satisfy my urge (funny) but I did make a few more converts I think.
