An inclusive restaurant with reasonably priced entrees in an upscale hotel just off Clemson campus. If you think Delish Sisters or Shepherd Hotel is just another upscale venue, do a bit of research. Owner Rick Hayduk supports and employs myriad Clemson LIFE students--ClemsonLIFE empowers students with intellectual disabilities to follow their career goals and experience life on a college campus--in all operational and customer service roles. In addition to supporting this amazing program, local and global artists with intellectual challenges are also featured in the store right next to the main desk. I dined near the beginning of the new menu for fall 2024, selecting the curry as my main dish + a side of Brussels. The curry was solid, but I cannot stop thinking about the brussel sprouts. These are a *must* order for one of your friends at the table, and the pumpkin cheesecake is Devine! Would rather have a drink? Walk up the central, spiral staircase to the third floor to Thomas Bar or visit the rooftop for a unique experience. I'm unsure of the service and food experiences Yelpers, Marcus G. & P.A. suggest, but as I dined with frequent patrons, they assured me they've never had such experiences. For our meal the service was attentive, food delicious, and dining experience was on par with some of my favorite restaurants. I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Sheperd Hotel and dining at Delish Sisters. While I feel confident in the food and service, I also know spending my money here supports Clemson LIFE students and their pursuit of independence. I cannot think of a better way to support the local economy and give back to the community.

Very attentive service! Refilled our drinks often and fast. Great salad and steak. The steak was cooked more than my liking but was still good. It came with a cream sauce that was delicious to dip your sides in. It's a classy yet casual restaurant.

The atmosphere is cozy, low-lit, and perfect for date night, a celebration, or honestly just when you want a really good meal with phenomenal service. It's not huge, and judging by how packed it was when we arrived, I'd definitely recommend reservations. We had one of the later seating times near closing, but the place was still buzzing. There's even a second room with a gorgeous long bar that gives off upscale neighborhood hangout vibes. Service was flawless from the start. We were seated immediately and had water in our glasses within minutes. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow had us in and out in about 40 minutes without ever making us feel rushed. That's an art form. Drink-wise, my boyfriend was happy to find some local beers after our brewery-hopping adventure earlier in the day. I ordered a cocktail that sounded good and asked if they could make it spicy... maybe throw in some jalapeños or something. They didn't just accommodate, they elevated. They swapped in a spicy-infused spirit, and it paired perfectly with my wood-fired roasted corn pizza topped with cilantro and jalapeño crema. Absolute flavor bomb that paired perfectly! My boyfriend's meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes was equally impressive. No notes, just clean plates. We started with the ceviche, and it was outstanding. Fresh, bright, and so flavorful that we started dipping our homemade pita into it. Speaking of the pita, that was honestly my only minor miss (and it wasn't even a miss lol). As a carb enthusiast, I wanted a little more salt and flavor, but that's nitpicking in what was otherwise an exceptional meal. Hearth & Herron is the kind of place every small town wishes it had. Thoughtful food, top-notch service, and an atmosphere that punches way above its weight class. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in Hendersonville and recommend you do the same!

First hint should have been the tables - several high tops still dirty and not wiped down. The ducks are cute, but to have to avoid stepping in duck sh** to get into the place, well not our thang.... Anyway we decided to give it a go and ordered some fried mushrooms, 2 orders of the double burger special, and a couple of sodas. Waited, and waited.....and waited. In the meantime the servers were busy showcasing their twerking capabilities to each other at the counter where they pick up orders. OKaaaaay. How about wiping down a few tables? So our order arrives - rather partial order. Only 1 of the double burger special arrived, and the "order of fried mushrooms" contained 9 mushrooms total, and these were not large by any stretch. For $10.75?? Good grief. We decided to split the one order of the burger special as we had waited close to 35 minutes already. To be fair, the burger was good, the fries that came with it were sparse but good. The mushrooms - meh. Oh and at the plastic cutlery dispenser station - out of forks and knives. That twerking practice must be oh so important.... The live entertainment was good though - just one guy who knew a lot of songs, and was doing his absolute best to play some requests. Entertaining, great sense of humor and sounded good - kudos to him. Net net, not interested in a return visit - certainly didn't expect a 5* or even a 4*, but this place had too many things just not up to par.

Unfortunately Rick Erwin's missed the mark on its primary assignment. The restaurant is nicely decorated in the style of a steakhouse. Dark wood paneling and shutters adorn the walls with pleasant dim lighting shining down from above. Service was strong with a team serving our table. We were greeted immediately and offered water and a drink. However, we were not offered bread, which is unusual for a steakhouse. Our appetizer of Buffalo Cauliflower was just ok. The breading had a subtle after-taste, which may have been from the batter being undercooked. And the buffalo sauce was not very prominent. So the dish was not as strong as I would have wanted. For our main course, we ordered the porterhouse for two--the signature dish at any steakhouse. Unfortunately, it fell short. When the steak arrived, it lacked the expected presentation; it had been grilled rather than broiled and was served without the usual butter or sizzling finish. That missing sizzle wasn't just visual--it showed in the flavor. A proper porterhouse should have a rich, salty, buttery finish, but this one was surprisingly bland. Just as disappointing, instead of being presented as the centerpiece of the table, the steak was served on a plate that we were apparently expected to eat directly from. It felt odd and took away from what should have been a standout experience. Overall, this was a below average experience for a steakhouse. We will try it again down the road since the choices near Clemson are limited. But Rick Erwin's should really revisit what it is trying to be and then decide how to be that.
