So so so good is all I can say! The service was wonderful and the food has me absolutely wanting to go back. Also please don't miss out on the cocktails, I had one of the best old fashioned cocktails here along with a mango cocktail! I can't wait to go back and I absolutely will be checking out their amazing daily specials!

Came here for an impromptu lunch/brunch on a snowy Sunday around 1pm. They were able to accommodate our group of 5. Service was friendly but not overbearing. Food was flavorful and delicious! I got the crispy rooster sandwich which was reasonably priced and good portion size. The rest of my group also enjoyed their meal. Next time I need to try the short rib skillet because that looked amazing!!

Stopped by Dell' Rooster for restaurant week, what a nice and a friendly place. Nothing over the top, had the Valencia style Paella which was amazing and right up my alley. Tomatoey and oniony, soupy finish with all the great saffron paella smells and flavors. The shirt rib was a little overcooked (but seems to be a fan favorite) and the drink menu and drinks were nothing special so it's not a full dinner experience but I would come here and stuff my face on a Tuesday night with no remorse.

Service was amazing! Vibes were great. Food was subpar & just ok.. lots of reviews say it's delicious but for Valentine's Day, we came here for dinner & the food wasn't mind blowing. It was pretty average in my opinion. The only good food was the coconut shrimp! and the el Rico suave drink was good. I probably won't be back.

Drawn to their unique menu, my friend and I ventured here for Sunday brunch. We had made a reservation, but it was surprisingly unnecessary - plenty of open tables. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice but it's basically a bar so ambiance was lacking. Food was great - we started with the rabos encendidos and don't sleep on this - the perfect combination, packed with flavor! I also got the papas con chorizo, which was very tasty. For drinks, they have a full bar but not espresso offerings so we just hopped over to a nearby coffeeshop after our meal. Service was ok, a little slow but we weren't in a hurry so no big deal. For half a starter, OJ, and a main, I think my bill was ~$30. If you're interested in brunch fare with a Latin American twist, Dell' Rooster is worth checking out.

Came to this spot for Saturday brunch (around 11am) with no reservation and was able to be sat within 10min. From the name to interior design, the spot was very Latin. The spot was spacious and the restaurant was filled with customers but not hectic. Not pictured but we shared an oxtail plantain appetizer that was savory with a hint of sweetness and definitely worth trying. I would have it as a main dish tbh. Our main entrees were the torta and chilaquiles. They had similar color make up as the oxtail dish since they were all red sauce base. Both rich in flavor and heavy in meal. I am new to chilaquiles but the tortilla chips were not soggy and had a nice crisp for me to enjoy the entire plate. Both my boyfriend and I stayed full the rest of the day with how hearty this meal was. Definitely a spot worth a try, for the flavors, decent price, & hearty meal.

Went to Dell Rooster for an early dinner. Service was great... friendly and fast. The bar area is rather small and not conducive to sitting there, so if you're a bar person plan to sit at a table. Food and cocktails were excellent. Note that at the time the cocktail menu on their web site didn't match the menu in the restaurant. The drink I wanted was not on the menu but she made it for me anyway. Thanks!! My paella was really tasty and super moist. And so filling. My wife loved her short rib. We will definitely come back again.

Stopped in for brunch on a recent Sunday as a good friend suggested we check it out as we like to try spots we havent checked out. Small mom and pop joint which is usually preferred and I believe its classified as latin fusion cuisine. Decor looks very much like you're in a latin food spot. They make a good mezcal old fashioned here, but I very much enjoyed the mango rico which is mango infused rum, lime juice, and mango puree. Sounds sweet as hell but not too sweet. All the apps/first bites looked great but we had to start with the Rabo Encendido which is cuban style braised oxtail, pickled onions, chipotle aioli and queso fresco on top of plaintains...outstanding!!! Melts in ya damn mouth! I almost didnt wanna order anything else after eating that...woooo! I decided to go with the Rooster & Sons Enchiladas...was pretty good. My friend got the Papas Con Chorizo and it was very good! I would definitely come back here for brunch and would love to see what dinner is like.

This place is a hidden gem! Delicious food for starters. The short rib fell apart beautifully. The dates were so yummy. The staff were super friendly and efficient. We made a reservation for dinner before a concert at United Center. This place is only 7 minutes away. So we had a really good dinner, great drinks and were able to easily hop out over to the concert. They have tables and booths available. We found street parking right outside the door. Can't recommend enough!

Ventured here for restaurant week. Restaurant has been on my radar for a while. We were lured by the menu as who doesn't enjoy short rib. For brunch we ordered sangria, fig appetizer, papas bravas, chicken/waffles and short rib skillet. The brunch choices were good. Husband finished his whole plate, I took some leftover home and put on a corn tortilla next morning. We also got to sample dessert with restaurant week. Both items were enjoyable. The restaurant itself is cozy and all staff were friendly. I think they would do well adding one more server during busy times as they were stretched tight at times.

My two friends and I decided to try this year's Chicago Restaurant Week's $30 Brunch menu. We all ordered the papas bravas, the short rib skillet, and the chocolate Abuelita tres leches cake. Everything was delicious, and the portion sizes were very generous, making the brunch menu well worth the $30. The servers did a great job of being accommodating while still giving us enough privacy to catch up. The restaurant was really chill, so it was perfect for us. Our only feedback is to use less star anise in the café de olla and to add more piloncillo. The piñata drink was good though! All in all, we would come back to try other items on the menu. We really need to figure out how to make the chocolate Abuelita ganache that was on the tres leches cake - It was that good!

We ended up here on a Saturday morning. There was no wait, and upon walking in, I liked the vibe of this place. The decor was like a kitschy breakfast place. I tried to order coffee, but they only had Café de Olla. I'm sure it is good, but I don't like sugar in my coffee. So, heads up, there is no regular or coffee variety. We started with warm stuffed dates. They were excellent. They came with this red sauce that really added to it. I had the short rib breakfast. It was good, but there could have been more meat. Unfortunately, there were too many peppers. My wife and I split our dishes. She had the Jabaritto, which was good but also lacked meat. My son had the chilequilles and had no complaints. We also split a side of sweet plantains with cheese. This is the first time I have had them with cheese, and they were terrific. Our server was attentive. In all, the flavor was good, but for the price, I expect more protein.

Unfortunately, the way the rest of the service was handled made it nearly impossible for him to give us a good experience. This was actually the second time I've experienced the same issue here. The first time, the manager handled it well and even sent over drinks, which is why we decided to come back. We came for my birthday dinner, and after being seated we waited about 20 minutes with no greeting or service because the host never informed our server we were his table. Later, the host awkwardly dropped a "birthday menu" on the table after we had already ordered. The biggest issue was the timing of the food. Our entrees were brought out before our appetizers, and when we explained the mistake the food runner responded rudely instead of simply correcting it. While we were still eating our appetizers, they repeatedly tried to rush our entrees out even though we had barely started. At that point I spoke with the manager and explained that this exact issue had happened before and that it was making the experience feel rushed. She seemed very disengaged and didn't really offer a solution. Ironically, she later brought drinks to the table even though I had just explained that I was driving and didn't want any. What was most confusing is that the restaurant was very slow that evening, which made the constant rushing and multiple service mistakes even harder to understand. Our server remained apologetic and professional throughout, but unfortunately the overall experience and management response were extremely disappointing. Given that this is now the second time experiencing the same issues, I will not be returning. TERRIBLE

First of all, it is absolutely gorgeous inside! I am in awe of the fine details and want to meet the interior designers! Our waiter, Moe, was personable and friendly and offered us great recommendations. It was about half full at the time we were here - I saw a lot of people ordering the plantain chips! They must be good! We didn't order them, however. My boyfriend and I each got the weekdays meal deal where, for $29 a person, we get our choice of a salad or soup, then our choice of the entree, and a drip coffee and dessert. Since half the entrees cost nearly $29 to begin with, this is a great deal! I chose the kale salad with dressing on the side. My boyfriend chose the butternut squash soup. In our relationship, sharing is caring! So we each tried each other's food. My salad was unique - I liked the dressing and I LOVE when fresh fruit are in salads! We both liked the soup as well and finished both our appetizers. As is my tradition, I had to get their cubano. It is a very large portion, but I love cubanos! The pulled pork was pretty fatty but like, the perfect amount of fatty for the unhealthy sandwich that is a cubano! My boyfriend got the kimchi salmon entree. I'm not big into salmon, but he liked it! The dish is gorgeous, by the way. Chef Sandoval is a master in the art of making a dish very colorful. Look at that avocado! So fresh! The drip coffee was fine. And my side of French fries were the least interesting part of our meals. We didn't feel the need to finish the fries. Our meal deal dessert was a large chocolate chip cookie. My boyfriend ate his chocolate chip cookie right away. I had a bite to see how it was fresh, learned it tasted fine, and saved the rest of my cookie for later in the day for a nice afternoon treat! You should definitely come here with a large group, so you can try a variety of dishes. There were…read moreso many flavor and texture combinations. Our group liked everything we ordered: * Heirloom tomato and pickled peach salad with huitlacoche fondue and basil oil * Steak tartare, Melipona honey, chipotle aioli, dill, chives, crispy rice, and black brioche bread * Tlacoyo: Thick blue corn masa, black bean purée, haricots verts, salsa cruda, sour cream, and queso fresco * Mejillones: mussels, saffron beurre blanc, dried chorizo, pickled jalapeños, and masa madre bread * Tetela: Stuffed triangle-shaped corn masa, chicken tinga, sour cream, creamy chipotle, and queso fresco * Pulpo Enamorado: Guajillo roasted octopus, salsa macha, pickled carrots, peas, potatoes, and tonnato aioli * Carne asada with oven-roasted tomatoes and roasted fingerling potatoes * Charred corn ice cream, caramel, toffee, orange purée, honey gelée, and caramelized popcorn For drinks, I had the non-alcoholic cosmo, and liked the prickly pear syrup addition. The atmosphere is still casual enough without feeling pretentious. The space is large enough for big tables and there is even a private room. For those who like modern Mexican cuisine with interesting ingredients and new flavor combinations, this is the place.

This is exactly my type of Mexican spot. Elevated without feeling too stiff and every dish had…read moreamazing flavor and presentation. Chef Carlos Gaytán was the first Mexican-born chef to earn a Michelin star and you can really tell there's so much technique behind everything. The vibes were super nice too. Dim lighting, warm wood interior, and one of the prettiest bathrooms I've seen in Chicago It starts off loud but calms down throughout the night. 8.5/10. Service was really good. Our server Leslie was sweet and gave solid recommendations. The check-ins slowed down later in the meal, but people were constantly refilling our waters which I appreciated. The steak tartare was delicious. Loved the flavor and the seed texture throughout it. Only thing I'd change is softer toast. 9/10. The tetela was INSANE. Perfect crunch on the shell and all the flavors worked together perfectly with the chicken. 9.5/10. For mains we got the barbacoa and costillas de res (we ignored the recommendation of getting only one main haha). Both were super tender with amazing texture and came with great garnishes, sauce, and tortillas. The short rib was my favorite. 9-9.5/10. Now the Maiz dessert... WOWWWW. One of my favorite desserts ever. Hard white chocolate shell on the outside with so many different textures going on. Ice cream, toffee sauce, brownie bits, flaky corn wrapper, caramel popcorn... every bite was perfect. 9.9/10. Overall this spot was chef's kiss Amazing food, beautiful space, and one of the best Mexican meals I've had in Chicago.
