Have walked through this area since the early '80's but never had the intention of having pizza since I usually come for seafood. Last week on our last night in Brooklyn before catching a flight home decided to have pizza. We sat outside in a very neighborly and unpretentious setting. Had a view of the Bay and ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and the eggplant and spinach pizza. Stella (waitress) suggested that we order the personal size since the regular pie would be too much food (unless we wanted to take home the leftovers). My partner had previously asked Stella about the salad dressing and her responses were clear detailed and clearly from a knowledgeable individual. The freshness of the greens and vegetables tasted as if the had been picked that day (as it is common in Italy), the dresssing was flavorful and delicious and the pizza was the best I have had in Brooklyn. The dough was clearly made with the best ingredients and by a chef who cares about the meals he delivers to his customers. During my four weeks in the East Coast I had many excellent meals but the dinner at V & S had to be the most satisfying and value enhanced by the great service and ambiance. Joe the owner/baker has been at this location for decades and told him I wish I had known about his food before I left the area shortly after he opened. Recently, we dropped by V&S and unlike the previous times we had been here, something was definitely different about the pizza slices. We came here during lunch on a Saturday and we ordered 4 slices of pizza - 2 Buffalo, 1 Vodka and 1 White. Let's just say just about EVERYTHING was different with the pizza, in a positive way. Unlike our past trips, the slices were much warmer, if not hot, and much crispier. I assume a simple change such as leaving the slices in the oven longer do the trick, but we're glad they did leave it in there longer. Also, we weren't sure if they had changed up how much dough they used, but the slices were much improved because they were a tad thinner. In addition, the slices were much more flavorful too, especially the buffalo chicken, which surprised us because for the longest time we were disappointed in it, but this time it was extremely flavorful and tasty. We're hoping these changes made are permanent because if that's the case we'll definitely be looking forward to coming to V&S for pizza much, much more often than we used to. read more

Walked along the marina, and decided to grab a bite here. Ordered a regular slice and the Veggie slice. Waited about five minutes for my slices to be reheated. When Sandy hit us in 2012, this particular part of BK was hit hard. Emmons Ave was devastated, being so close to Sheepshead Bay Inlet his shop was flooded. Nothing but those ovens were left viable. One thing for sure, his recipe for classic NYC pizzas wasn't washed out. This is the slice like you'll love it--hot, thin, great cheese to sauce ratio, and that crunch. V&S Pizza has been a Sheepshead Bay institution for over 30 years. I've eaten in this spot when it used to be a pizza shop and now as a restaurant. Since I was a teenager, I and my family always enjoyed pizza from V&S. After leaving the neighborhood, as a right of passage for my two daughters, I've brought them here to taste and enjoy real Brooklyn pizza. The last few times we've ordered our typical grandma pie it has come soggy and not to mention they did not even bother to cut it through completely ! When placing tonight's order mid sentence I was put on hold with no warning. When the girl returned to the line I explained that the pizza cannot even be picked up without completely falling apart, and again asked to make sure it is WELL DONE! I was assured my request would be met, and the wait began... A few minutes after placing my order I called back to add a large Diet Coke. The addition went smoothly. So I thought... An hour later my pizza arrives. The box is wet at the bottom, first bad sign.. soggy again. I proceed to unpack my Diet Coke to be met with a regular Coke. I called back and was told "you definitely told me regular on the phone"... some back and forth later I was promised a replacement. Really good veggie slice/pie. I'm usually a plain pizza kind of gal but I make an exception for the veggie pizza at V&S. Chock full of broccoli, mushrooms, spinach and flavor! Eating your vegetables never tasted this good. V&S has been around since I was a kid and it's still consistently good whether I eat there or order a pie for home. Besides the veggie slice I like their grandma slice and fresh mozzarella slice. Disappointing. I was really hoping to love this place based on good reviews. I got a Sicilian pie first off it was dry and hard. I wonder if they make their own dough cause when I took sauce and toppings off it looked like it was store bought. I really love doughy pizza and majority of time when I have had Sicilian pizza it's nice and fluffy. But this seriously what the heck again dry and hard and not appealing. This is actually a really busy pizzeria, even though its a bit off the main drag of Emmons Ave. When I came the entire UPS delivery force for the area were inside watching America's funniest home videos. Within a minute of me sitting down, the other tables were taken and there was a line for slices. This place isn't that big so this is pretty impressive. Everyone seemed to know each other, so suffice to say it was a festive atmosphere. As for the pizza, I got a Sophia Loren slice. Their crust is cracker thin, and while it wasn't the best I've had of this type it wasn't the worst either. The real problem was that even though they used good ingredients, the garlic dominated the slice. They put way too much on, and it really ruined everything else. From what I tasted the tomatoes and fresh mozzarella were both high quality, but next time I come here I'll try a different slice. After all, the waitress was pretty cute. read more

I almost always go with margarita or just plain old cheese slices, but they have pepperoni as well as many others. Can't beat the price for a slice!! I ordered ahead once for a whole pie of plain cheese and it was hot, fresh, and simple, simply amazing. I didn't have to wait for my order at all, and the prices are good. I haven't eaten inside, just been inside long enough to see that the place is clean, and yes, I even checked out the bathroom and that was clean too.
