The house beer is flavourless but many people must like it. The app was deli. We followed up with house salads. I suggest getting a double drink- the single whiskey seven was weak. This is a really fun restaurant with live music and friendly staff. We happened to go for dinner on a very busy night and had to wait about 40min for a table. Luckily we were able to grab a drink and watch the band while we waited. For dinner we shared the green chile queso app which was tasty but not really a queso- more like a pile of cheesy pork that you spoon into tortillas. Next we shared the prime rib dinner which was very good. Overall a nice spot for dinner in Hill City. read more

The service was fast and friendly! We were greeted by the hostess in a timely manor and our server was pleasant. My husband got the Bison Burger and I got the Chute Rooster Burger with pepper jack cheese. We both requested medium doneness. The burgers were cooked perfectly! So yummy! I also had a gin martini and my husband had the Dunkle beer. Delicious! My only negative comment was there were two dogs in the bar area where we ate. I do enjoy dogs, but do not appreciate having to eat with them in close proximity. Love the western decor! I do recommend this restaurant, just keep the dogs outside. Waitress and staff were friendly, and the live music was cool. It was just pretty expensive for what it was, which is why we went with a 3*. Service was a tad slow. We were seated quickly but waited a bit for our food. Someone called this place classy. It is NOT classy. It is more western or rustic like the steakhouse chains, minus the awful peanuts. The food is good. We split the Green Chile Philly steak sandwich with homemade potato chips and a side order of fries because other Yelpers said they were good. Now, if you are from the southwest, do not judge northern food by our standards. The sandwich while tasty did not have a green chile bite (piquant) to it. The fries were indeed fresh and flavorful. A cute farmhouse restaurant located a walk away from our hotel. Granted, we did not walk though haha. BUT if you want to work up your appetite before your meal, go for it. I ordered the bison burger on a gluten free bun, no cheese, and sweet potato waffle fries. The fries were scrumptious ! My burger was good but kind of dry since it didn't have any lettuce or tomato on it, I guess you have to specify if you want it on there which I didn't since I thought it came loaded. I forgot to take pictures of the baked potato and brisket grilled cheese. They were ok, nothing exciting. Fries were good. Husband got the side salad with curry dressing. He was told it was life changing. It wasn't, but it was good. The sandwich had almost no cheese, which is pretty bad considering it was billed as a grilled cheese. The potato was better. Stopped here for a late lunch after checking into our place just next door. Walking into a new state and first restaurant ever, my first impression was quickly shut down by the Hostess. She wasn't the best to start, but I'll ignore that because our waitress was Ah-mazing! I thought about going for the Mile of Hell Burger because I thought it's probably not as spicy as it claims. Boy was I wrong and thank you to our waitress for giving me a sample to try. I had a lick and it really burns. Best way to describe the pain is, I think the blazon wings from Bdubbs would've been more forgiving. We ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger, Chili Cheese Fries and some Buffalo Wings. All dishes were delicious! The chili cheese fries was our favorite! Wait time was a little slow, considering we were one of the two tables dining at the time. I supposed it was worth the wait. Only thing that was really bothersome is the amount of flies. It was hard to enjoy our food without worrying about the flies landing on our dishes. Atmosphere was pretty quiet where we sat in the back. When you enter, it looks like the bar area is to the right and dining tables to the left. Plenty of roomy tables for large groups. I didn't really check out the bar area but it was packing up quick by 5pm. Parking lot is large, so no worries about the parking situation. I believe there is a tattoo shop right next door as well. Good for a beer, period. Was driving back from Jewel Cave and wanted to grab a beer and something to eat. It had been raining all day, I was drenched and needed to dry out. This was NOT the place to dry out. Service was extremely slow and the food was subpar. I had the grilled cheese and soup, was nothing like the description from the menu. My fiancé and I are in town on vacation and decide to get food here. I gave Chute Rooster 4 stars because of the following reasons: 1. Customer Service- we called and placed our order to go. The girl who took our order sounded like she was new because after we had placed our order we got a call back asking follow up questions about our order. During our whole interaction from phone call to picking up was friendly and fast. 2. Food- I got the Salmon and it was really delicious. It was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. I enjoyed every last bite. My fiancé got the Southwestern Chicken Salad which he said it was okay. The home fries were just fries but I enjoyed them. I hope you find this review helpful! Disappointing from the beginning. We called to see if they take reservations. They don't- but the man on phone said to get there about 5:30. We were there at 5:20 and seated by 5:40 and they were out of their specialty dish smoked prime rib. A restaurant should not run out of their specialty dish by 5:45. Since that was the reason we picked this restaurant we were severely disappointed. We considered leaving but it was Friday night. So instead of 2 prime rib dinners and a bottle of wine we ordered cheese curds and split a bbq pork sandwich. Disappointing. The curds were less than average and the chips served with the sandwich tasted like they were fried in old grease that wasn't hot enough. The pork sandwich was average with more sauce than meat. Our waitress indicated they were having supplier issues. (No excuse- it's South Dakota. They "grow" meat here). We won't be back this trip. There's other restaurants to try. We are unsure if we will be back to this restaurant next year. read more

The pizzas from the food truck were ok. I was disappointed based on the reviews, I expected more. Here's something that annoyed me, they have one price for the build your own pizza, but nothing showing additional prices for toppings- so 19.95 for a pizza, then 3 toppings ended up being $25 after a military discount... that feels a bit pricey for me. Our friends had the brisket grilled cheese which was also ok, and they said the stuffed potato was good. They also have fresh squeezed lemonade which was really good and the cocktails and beers were good. This restaurant has a great family feel to it. Well chute, this place was good! See what I did there?? We were looking for a place to have lunch and had seen Chute Rooster near our hotel. It's a fun big red barn with a western atmosphere. I only had 2 issues with our entire meal so I'm just going to get that out of the way. The table height was so short my daughter couldn't even get her legs under it. It was like the table was sitting directly in our lap and it wasn't comfortable. The only other thing was that our burgers were over cooked. We ordered some delightful drinks and they had a hefty pour of alcohol. I had a cheeseburger, husband had a mushroom Swiss burger and daughter had the French dip. We started with the cheese curds and they were REALLY good. The burgers and sandwich tasted great (except for being over cooked) and the fries were crispy on the outside and flavorful. We were also treated with really great service. I think this place would be fun on a weekend night! And they brand their buns! So fun! read more
