The service was fast and friendly! We were greeted by the hostess in a timely manor and our server was pleasant. My husband got the Bison Burger and I got the Chute Rooster Burger with pepper jack cheese. We both requested medium doneness. The burgers were cooked perfectly! So yummy! I also had a gin martini and my husband had the Dunkle beer. Delicious! My only negative comment was there were two dogs in the bar area where we ate. I do enjoy dogs, but do not appreciate having to eat with them in close proximity. Love the western decor! I do recommend this restaurant, just keep the dogs outside. No pic of food because I was too hungry!

We debated whether to give this a 3 or 4 star. Food was good but not great. The menu wasn't up to date, so we were bummed to not be able to try the grilled cheese. Waitress and staff were friendly, and the live music was cool. It was just pretty expensive for what it was, which is why we went with a 3*. It did seem like a cool "locals" spot and less touristy which was cool.

A great hidden gem. Get the wing sauce that they make. Cool draft beer selections, local favorites. We shall return. See us on YouTube at Coolest Life.

While in the Black Hills everyday was pretty jam packed. Most restaurants in the area would close pretty early. Chute Rooster had a good food selection and had convenient hours. The restaurant had a really neat atmosphere and was pretty unique. The food was very appetizing, we had the cheeseburgers and fries.

    Let's try it!

A cute farmhouse restaurant located a walk away from our hotel. Granted, we did not walk though haha. BUT if you want to work up your appetite before your meal, go for it. I ordered the bison burger on a gluten free bun, no cheese, and sweet potato waffle fries. The fries were scrumptious ! My burger was good but kind of dry since it didn't have any lettuce or tomato on it, I guess you have to specify if you want it on there which I didn't since I thought it came loaded. Our waiter was Remi, he was prompt and courteous! Thank you Remi!

It was already completely filled in the bar with wait times until 6:30pm at that point. Come early or reserve if you have a big group! There are two dinner options for adults - bacon wrapped steak and a German noodles dish. The bacon wrapped steak was great and also came with a wedge salad. The prices were incredible at about $20 per entree. It does have a strong bacon flavor so you have to be sure to enjoy that flavor. There was a hotdog option for kids and a vegetarian menu. The dessert menu was extension with more than 10 items. I had the napoleon and it was light, airy, and flaky. Everyone was happy with their desserts and the price was around $7 per item. Overall, it was a fun experience with decent food in this small town. I would come back and I recommend you try it!

The experience from beginning to finish was as follows…read more.. We enter, unsure whether to seat ourselves, and are asked, albeit almost silently, to pick a table of our liking. And upon choosing a table, we were given menus by our server, who didn't have a name tag, so I couldn't reference her specifically, and asked to select a drink. After getting water, we eagerly wait for 15-ish minutes for our waitress to take our order. After placing our order of two burgers, nothing special, we waited patiently for our food. Keep in mind, we arrived at 8:10, 50 minutes before closing. We then waited 30 minutes for our burgers, only getting a light apology after 25. Upon receiving our food, we were FAMISHED, and it tasted good! But I think practically everything tastes good when you're hungry, am I right?!? After GOBBLING our burgers down, we received the check at approximately 9:05, and the waitress was eagerly looking at the screen when we politely left a tip justifiable for the service. I'm one always to tip a server, even if the service isn't the best. At the end, we were sent off with an "okay" and nothing more. I'm not one to complain, but a thank-you would've been nice since we weren't rude to her about the insane wait time. Ultimately, be warned: when you come here, it's a cute place to take family when passing through, but not when you're on a time crunch. In short, the food is pretty good, somewhere between 6/7 out of 10, but the service was very subpar, leaving us with a sour taste in our mouths.

I ordered the bison burger and an extra sweet potatoes fries. The food took a very long time for our group of 12. Probably about 20 minutes. We chose our own table and basically had to put our own chairs together as they did not offer any help in moving them besides acknowledging our party size. The bison burger was dry with a bit of crispy exterior texture on the patty that made it taste somewhat better. The bun was not special and although we asked for medium rare, it was more like medium to medium well done. The potato fries tasted good and were soft inside with a nice firm and slightly crunch outer casing. The sweet potato fries were limp and not very good unless you like them greasy, soft, and starchy. In hindsight, I would have just eaten the lunch special hamburger and fries. They also had a $5 upgrade to salad bar option.

We were greeted with: "Where would you like to sit?" I replied that we hadn't been there before.. would have liked to know our options (more on that later) but the disinterested hostess grabbed a couple menus and took off. We didn't get far - there was a small table for two overlooking the deck (I might have liked to sit there had I known...), right next to a short ramp down about 12" from the hostess area. I believe this area was originally a porch, so the floor wasn't very heavily reinforced. To the point that every time a staff person came through, it was as though Hermann Munster was trudging through - our entire table shook, my iced tea actually spilled over the top. This went on through our entire meal. I would have said something, but there was no obvious manager in sight, and what could they have done? Perhaps moved us, but I grit my teeth and went on with Life. On a better note, the food was very good: I had the Buffalo Meatloaf with mashed potato. The gravy was a bit overpowering - it's a shame that this is the first time I'd had buffalo and have no idea what it tastes like. I should have ordered gravy on the side. My wife had macaroni & cheese with a piece of grilled chicken. We both had small salads to start. We're not heavy eaters, and usually only get through about 1/2 of our meals, so we were done rather quickly. Unfortunately, there was no sign of our server for ~10 minutes while we waited patiently. There was only one other party in the room, so it's not like she was occupied with other customers. I finally had to go ask for our check at the hostess station. Even then, someone else brought our check. We're usually big tippers, and frequently will tip 100% for great service. We tipped the nominal 15% and left. We'd go again... maybe. But we wouldn't sit anywhere near the ramp.
