I ate there for the first time today. I ordered the fish and chips. The three huge fish planks came on a bed of overcooked and mostly cold french fries. My friend ordered a burger with pulled pork that was so tall it promptly fell apart when he was barely a few bites in. His fries were the same as mine. Getting back to my fish: it was more batter than fish, and it was chewy, yuck. Might be the worst fish and chips I've ever had anywhere. It was not cheap, $17. Not sure if its because it hasn't been open for very long and the employees don't know what they're cooking yet. Who knows? It is the Cohn Restaurant Group who owns it, with over 20 places in San Diego. It's in a challenging location, you can see the sign from the 8 fwy but not the building itself. If they can't get their act together they won't be around for very long. I certainly won't return. read more

My family and I came here on a very busy day, however service and quality was not short. We opted to eat her because we happened to be staying at a hotel next to this restaurant not expecting what we will be experiencing here. It's a little different with the fact that you have to order at the/near the bar and then find a table. Not that it's a problem - it's expedient but different. With my order, I had the French dip sandwich with onion rings. I found the meal to be flavorful with the right temp. It didn't taste as if it sat under a hot lamp or out on a counter. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone stopping by or wants a good drink with a meal. read more

This a cute little spot hidden right of the 8. I had the boneless skinless chicken plate with baked beans and Mac and cheese. Sides were delicious especially the beans and the chicken was yummy just slightly over cooked. One complaint would be it wasn't that warm seems like it may have been sitting for a while before served. Overall will return. read more

The food is good, but the service, or lack thereof, makes you want to stab yourself in the eye with your fork. That would actually be better than watching every single thing a server should do go ignored. I've been through this on multiple occasions now. C'mon I already tipped 20% when I paid for the food (if you've not been to Del's, you stand in line (wait time on a Tuesday was 8-9 minutes to the counter), order your food, pay for the food, are given a buzzer and your drinks, and go find a table. A server brings your food to you.) Do a customer a favor --- bring a glass of water --- or a jug of water for the table --- and real glasses, not those flimsy plastic 'glasses'. I love he service buttons at the tables and how he girl I think her name was Megan explained everything to us. There was a constant line but they were fast to take your order and very helpful with questions about the food. I'm a very picky eater and lately have only had complaints about restaurants my only complaint was the table I sat at had a bike under it nice to look at but uncomfortable even with my short legs. The portions of the food were great I can't wait to have my left overs! The Texas toast YUM!! So glad to say that we've found a new restaurant and will for sure be back! I hope they stay in business for along time! Oh and my husband didn't realize the fresh catch bowl had fish in it he's a vegetarian so we called Megan over and before we asked if he could get it without the fish she offered. This place has a great concept and there are lots of neat elements for kids. On the downside, the food is meh. I've tried 3 different dinner items and they were all just ok. You order at the counter they give you a beeper you sit at your table with your drink and just relax and wait for the food to come! Our waitress Tes was amazing! So super friendly and on top of it! The food got there and wow it was amazing and definitely delicious! My husband had the TJ Burger... it was juicy and full of flavor. The fries where nice and crisp! This is only a 4-star because they are pretty pricy. BUT it's delicious & it has huge portions. Only bad part about that is you have to LOVE left overs to eat the next day. I can't do it but my husband can so power to him! The bell pepper rings are amazing and I'm so bummed that they are only served at certain times. The child area is a cute add on. The food and drink deals are great. Also, how they find your seat, I have no clue but it's awesome! And 1 free ice cream for every customer! YUM!! This is the place. Coming from out of state where there are plenty BBQ places to eat, I've been searching for some decent bbq and I'm pretty certain I have found it. Lucky for me it's right across the street and we've already been 3 times since it has opened one week ago. Not only is the food fantastic with huge portions, service is great, and the atmosphere is fun and laid back. We decided to give this place a try on Cinco de Mayo, just a few days after it opened. I ordered a margarita, seemed appropriate on that day, and it was orange and tasted like orange juice. I mentioned it to the server and she said she would talk with the bartender but it was the right drink. I talked with the bartender and said it wasn't the right drink, and he said, "we don't have margarita mix and it needs citrus so I added orange juice to the tequila". I mentioned that's not really how you do it, but he said that's all they have. He then offered to make another, when I asked how he would do it, he said he do it the same way but with less strange juice. Ugh. I said the woman telling orders should know what they can and can't do..He was making a Manhattan, so I just asked for one instead. It wasn't what I really wanted, but whatever. The server brought it to me and it tasted like root beer, so I asked why and she said the root beer Manhattan was their signature drink. I said I didn't ask for that, but just a plain Manhattan. She said they don't do those.... So, sounds like they have some bugs to work out, or maybe they just don't do things any other way. We laughed about it. Most of the food didn't come out as ordered, which was odd because the ticket that the food runners were holding had the correct food items but they weren't bringing those, and they seemed confused. More things for them to work out. The food was really good when the right items were finally brought out. I ordered the green bean casserole as my side, FYI, it has bacon in it. I don't eat bacon and by that point didn't want to send anything else back so my friends ate it. I'm giving it 4 stars because the food was good, and the people who work there are really nice and helpful. I'm sure with time they'll get things worked out. I'm a fan of this place. I've driven by it from the freeway and had no idea it was there, guess it is a hideout. We went on Sunday which was fried chicken night, chicken was delicious and enough to share. Good for kids, we don't have any so stay to the side of the restaurant without all the play stuff. Good drinks as well, very well stocked bar. Also, free soft serve cones at the end of your meal. You order at the counter, so get in line. read more
