This spot was packed when we arrived and after eating here, it's easy to see why. The service was friendly and the food did not disappoint. Seating is first come, first served, so you'll wait outside in line, but it moves quickly and we were seated before we knew it. Once inside, everything ran smoothly. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, a breakfast burrito, and corned beef hash with eggs, topped with cheese and served with home fries. Everything was delicious, classic diner-style breakfast done right. If you're looking for a solid breakfast spot with great service and satisfying comfort food, this place is definitely worth the wait. I'd happily come back again.

Great diner, definitely a pgh institution! Ona late Sunday morning, Delucas was a lot easier to get into than Pamela's, though the wait time to get your food can get pretty crazy. The staff are super friendly, and once it did arrive, the pancakes are as big and yummy as expected. The kielbasa was also a stand out, with the coffee being the classic, good diner kind, pretty solid diner breakfast but not sure if it's worth a super long wait

This place came highly recommended from a native of the city. I'm visiting for the first time and asked my friend for a rec on a good diner. I know this city isn't East Coast, but it reminds me of a good East Coast diner. Whenever I go to a place, I like to look at negative reviews to anticipate hiccups. None of those reviews held true. The service was great. The food was excellent. Again, not East Coast but the ambiance was of a genuine diner, which for this Texan was a big draw. It was comforting to bask in a place that was busy and cramped, but operated like clockwork. It was impressive to watch. The coffee was warm and constant. The wait was minimal. The waitress recommended the French toast and it was excellent. Eggs over easy were slightly overcooked, but steak came out fine. Could have used a bit more seasoning on the steak, but it still was a great treat. Prices weren't outrageous, especially considering the portions. It was slightly inconvenient to have to pay with cash, but there are multiple ATMs nearby. I also like that this was in the Strip district, so lots of cool stuff to see around there. Excellent choice and I hope to go back!

This diner is a down home Pittsburgh must visit. The wait staff seems like they have been there forever. The food is quick and you are in and out in no time. The portions are hearty and the food is hot. We love visiting this cash only spot each time we are in the burgh. If you come early enough you can get a spot on the street not far from the restaurant. This diner looks just like I imagine it looked years and years ago. It's a great throwback.

Food was delicious, freshly made and came in large portion sizes. Ambiance was old diner, busy, pretty organized Service was to the point, efficient, nothing particular stood out

Want a yummy greasy spoon place that's going to leave your heart content? If so, then this is the place. I finally made it to DeLuca's and, surprisingly, there was no wait (this is the type of place there's a line for on a weekend). We sat down right away and our waitress brought us waters and coffee. The menu is extensive, so we had to take a few minutes to decide. I opted for the Swedish crepes (with ricotta cheese) and a side of eggs and bacon. Absolutely. Delicious. My friends had the cinnamon bun pancakes with vanilla ice cream... I had a bite and they were so good! Overall, this diner (which has counter seating) is a must visit. DeLuca's has a good vibe and is great for families and meet ups. I'll certainly be back!

Got a taste of everything! First time here and everything was tasty and fresh. Lots of menu to look at, inside is tight quarters and decently loud on a weekend morning. Servers were nice and food came out pretty quick for how packed it was. Blueberry pancakes had lots of flavor and came out hot along with the rest of the Steel City Breakfast. The Huevos Rancheros was a gigantic plate of food, topped with their famous Spanish sauce which I wanted to take home in a gallon jar. It was so good.

A true Pittsburgh classic. After talking about DeLuca's for years, I was so excited to finally take my husband and it did not disappoint. The classic diner feel is part of the charm, and even though the place is always busy, the staff keeps things moving and the food comes out relatively quickly. I am a big fan of their pancakes. They are definitely a must-try. DeLuca's lives up to its reputation and is well worth the visit if you are looking for a great, old-school breakfast experience.

South of The Border Omelette- Delicious and hearty. The salsa is also tasty. It slightly gives chili cheese dog vibes 4/5.

Classic diner in the heart of the strip district. The foods delicious and portions are large. I've included some pictures of the last time I went. The seafood omelette was especially delicious! Would highly recommend for a breakfast stop when traveling to Pittsburgh.

DeLuca's is pure nostalgia in the best way possible. It's no-nonsense, cozy, and full of old-school charm. I loved the classic counter with stools and the tables decorated with local ads--it feels like stepping back in time. The portions are huge and the food is delicious--honestly, the scrambled eggs are some of the best I've ever had anywhere. We really enjoyed the open kitchen, and the highlight was when all the cooks sang happy birthday to someone--it made the whole place feel like a community. One tip: it's cash only, which caught us off guard, but there are several ATMs just down the block.

If you like a traditional breakfast in a great location, DeLuca's is worth trying! I'm more of a modern type of breakfast person, but was willing to give it a shot! The omelette's were fully stuffed and the potatoes were actually delish. It wasn't too busy for a sunday in the strip and we appreciated the fast paced service as well!! My boyfriend likes the conventional style, it's just not my preference.

It was such a good time. The philly cheesesteak was delicious (I got it with no cheese though), great onion rings. I got decaf with non-dairy creamer, everything was good. A fun vibe, talkative waiters, and attentive service. The food selection and vibe is not for everyone, but if you're looking for a diner, it does the job.

Deluca's is a staple in Pittsburgh. No frills dive restaurant. The service is good and I enjoy the food. Be prepared for a wait but it typically isn't too long. And also bring cash as this is the only form of payment accepted. Lastly, the sitting area is close but not uncomfortable.

It was definitely not traditional. The sauce was very thick and almost floury. They serve it with pork belly, which does not give the same punch of flavor to cut through the sauce as guanchali or bacon. The papardelle noodle were dry and clumpy. The dish was very heavy. Do not recommend. The place is chill. It is close to the theater. I might try it again if in the area.

Now, I am going to take you on a journey just like the books Belle read so strap in. We had a 5:45 PM reservation, and even arrived a few minutes early. The hostess/employee (I don't want to assume positions) took me upstairs for a table right by the window, which will be an awesome view when the construction finishes. It was also a beautiful sight of that part of the city as-is. When I was seated, I was one of a few tables seated. It was not full or even busy at that time. Also, as we were seated, we were given waters. My friend joined me about 5-7 minutes after the reservation time. We then ordered our drinks at about 6:00/6:05 PM. From there, we waited and did not meet our waiter, who will be referred to as sweet baby angel Max from here on out, until about 6:20 PM. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees at around this time. Our orders had some modifications but nothing major. By this time, many more tables were seated upstairs and others seemingly received their alcoholic drinks and even appetizers by the time we received only our drinks around 6:30-6:40. Our drinks were big, too, which is great, but that also meant we had to drink them a little more quickly due to the time constraints with the show. We were enjoying ourselves but noticed multiple more tables receiving not only their drinks and apps but also their entrees. Once 6:55 came, we had to tell sweet baby angel Max about our predicament. I will be honest and say we suggested for our drinks to be comped at least - not only for the wait and lack of courtesy with everyone else receiving their items before us despite our arrival and reservation time, but for the fact that we would have maybe 15 minutes to eat, finish our drinks, pay, take our food back to our cars, and make curtain time. What sweet baby angel Max did next flabbered our gasts -- he said not only will our drinks be comped but our whole meal will be comped. He also helped pack our food and kept it in the back so we didn't have to worry about going back to our cars. We made sure to tip him with all we had! We are so glad we did because when we returned after the show, he had the kitchen remake the food and kept it warm for us. When you go to The Eagle, ask for sweet baby angel Max and you will not be disappointed with him, the service, or the food. Because even when they may mess up? The Eagle gets it right with their classy attitude and positive treatment of their customers. You definitely have multiple return customers just from this encounter. Thank you!!!

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

My son called and made reservations. The day came at I met him in the hotel lobby. We took the elevator up to the 25th (27th?? Can't remember) floor where the restaurant is. When we got there we were told that they weren't ready yet. We didn't even tell them we had reservations. So we waited. . . and waited. Finally my son walked over to the bar and told them that we had reservations. The bartender called a server out. She asked us if we were doing fine dining. I said that I wanted to check out the menu to see what they had. She took us to the back of the restaurant. We found out later that there was a nicer area but it was closed off. All of a sudden all of these people started coming in. It took us a minute and we realized that they were guests of the Embassy hotel. They must have been given tickets for free drinks. The bar line was long and stayed long. They were also given access to a very small snack buffet. The server that waited on us was the one and only server working the entire restaurant. She was constantly cleaning tables and checking on the snack buffet. So we had to wait ridiculous amounts of time to order, to get our food, and to even pay. I had ordered a cup of lobster and corn chowder. When I finally got it, it was barely room temperature. It tasted like it was straight out of a can. There was one tiny piece of lobster and about half a can of corn. I hadn't eaten since breakfast and was starving so I ate it. My son tried it and gave it a hard pass. As my entree I ordered shrimp tacos. There was seemed to be fresh pico on it but the shrimp was 90% breading. Not good. My son ordered the club type sandwich. It had a nice portion of meat on it and tasted ok. (That is what the one star is for.). Was very disappointed from start to finish. I won't be back. Ever.
