We ordered the Pomme Pilot crepe and it was delicious! Tasted just like an apple pie. The crepe was fresh and the apples were sweet and flavourful. The vanilla ice cream was the perfect pairing. The service was excellent. We were seated and had our order taken immediately. Definitely one of our favourite demetres location.
Decided to give this place a visit for a nostalgic dessert hang after years. Everything is pretty much the same in terms of vibes, service, and portions. Their menu has remained the same, but this time around I noticed a few trendy items which was fun. They also have 4 different kinds of waffles to choose from too -- from Belgian, liege, and croffle. I ordered their new ube flavour (not sure if this is a limited time offering) croffle. I was so glad I got the croffle because I really enjoyed the chewy texture. I tried my friend's liege and it was really heavy and had a bit more of a savoury taste. The ice cream scoops they give are also huge. The price is slightly higher, I guess it's the inflation after all these years... after tax and tip the one waffle cost me almost $30 which to me is insane for dessert. Overall their stuff still hits the spot.. very fun selection of flavours and a cute vibe for a dessert hangout. We came shortly after a pretty big dinner which was our first mistake. Make sure to come hungry because their waffles are huge and filling.
It's been ages since I came back here. The service was great; we were always asked if everything was good or if we needed anything. I have to say, no matter what time, this place is busy and crowded with people. Good thing we were able to be seated. We ordered two different desserts to try. I must say that both desserts were delicious, but the Ube one was much better. The matcha one with the white chocolate sauce made it a bit too sweet, in my opinion. You have to try it for yourself to see, as everyone's taste buds are different. Also, even though it was crowded with people, it wasn't loud, and we were able to talk amongst ourselves. Even when I had my baby there, the noise level was decent.
Always a great time to be at demetres! We went after watching a movie with two other people. On the outside, they had a lot of empty tables but when we arrived, there was a long long waiting. Not sure exactly why? We waited probably about 20 minutes and when we got inside, there were still empty tables so not sure what was happening there. Decor was alright, there's an open kitchen and you can see the staff making your waffles and crepes right there. We ordered the fudge waffle and it did not disappoint - fudgey, gooey and paired perfectly well with the warm waffle. It was a great complement to the salty and buttery popcorn we had had during the movie.
the service is okay and we didnt have to wait long probably because we went there @ 10pm. Since it's fairly new, the place looks neat and clean. But let's talk about the desserts... $22.5 for Belgian waffle $17.5 for Parfait Was the price justifiable? Hmm... no, i dont think so. I dont think a $56 bill is justifiable with risking my sugar levels in this cafe. Will I go back again? If im a teen and dont care about i eat and how much money I spend, probably yes but now that I know better, No. Just a true and honest review for this chain.
Opened late night and as we were debating which dessert place to go, so glad to have stumbled upon Demetres! We saw it full of people at 10:30pm and knew we had to try especially when we saw "best ice cream ever" We got the crepe w/ banana and Dulce ice cream! LIFECHANGING Their menu was extremely cute and had so many different flavors! Not ordering the whole menu was difficult. Must try if you're in downtown Markham!
Demetres is definitely a very delicious dessert spot, but we've noticed that the prices have increased quite drastically over the years. With that being said, the crepes are still VERY delicious, especially with the homemade ice cream. We ordered the Apple Pom crepe to share, and it satisfied our sweet tooth craving. It was very busy and chaotic inside when we went (around 10pm on a weekday night), and only one server was on the floor, so service was a bit slow in terms of placing our orders and getting the bill. However, the space inside is huge and can definitely fit lots of people, and is also very family friendly.
The desserts are SERIOUSLY SO SWEET. Neither my friend nor I could finish what we ordered because the sweetness became a little intolerable. I can see how that can appealing for some people though! The ice cream was very creamy and rich. The brownie was pure sugar though. I'll likely come back in the future when I am craving something very sweet!
The best part of fall? Cozying up with something sweet and indulgent! Demotes Fall Menu is something I tried and it's packed with warm, comforting flavors that capture the essence of the season. Every seasonal menu is designed by local Toronto artists !!! My favorite was their Fashionably Latte Belgian Waffle with hazelnuts. I love their ice creams and Thats why I went here. One of the best dessert spots in the GTA. The waffles are to die for, I had the moo lala. The server was kind and prompt, they were busier and so it did take a bit of time for us to receive the food, but my friend and I were chatting so the timing of everything was great. Presentation was on point, very instagram worthy. The quality of the dessert as mentioned was excellent, probably my go to dessert spot in the GTA.
We frequently dine at this location, but tonight we decided to order from Uber Eats for the first time. We tried the Splitsonian French crepe, and unfortunately, it didn't meet expectations. The banana was unripe and very bitter, which was disappointing since the menu only offered two fruit options: banana and strawberries. How could they serve unripe fruit? There wasn't enough Nutella to balance out the bitterness, and I didn't enjoy it at all. I called Demetres to express my concern, and the response was less than helpful. The staff apologized, and after waiting for any further assistance, I was told they would inform the kitchen staff and advised me to contact Uber directly about my dissatisfaction. The call ended abruptly without any meaningful resolution.
They say a good salesman can sell ice to an eskimo. In this case, sell ice cream to Canadians while it's freezing and snowing outside. This place is a favorite everytime we visit this area. The service is great and the food is delightful. The kids love it and so do we. I imagine this gets packed in the summer.
From a friend's recommendation and it was worth going to. Parking - small parking lot available near by but additional parking available going up to locations parkade. Not meter parking in the parking area Ambience - clean, colourful, great atmosphere Service - only one person working for everything on a Thursday I went with my family but the service was still great. The person was tentative with smile and readily available. Food - dessert was . Had the following *Choc This Way - ice cream in a waffle cone with chocolate brownie and dark chocolate sauce *Split Personality - banana split with 4 different flavours of ice cream and the works *Earl Grey Raspberry - earl grey tea base with swirls of raspberry jam and crunchy earl grey streusel Would recommend and go back again.

The desserts comes in a huge portion (when you order crepes) I definitely couldn't finish it myself and I really love sweets. The desserts are in a much sweeter side. The plating is really cute and pretty! And the interior is colourful definitely good for a date night. The service was good 5/5. It is kind of pricey if you can't finish your food! I would personally just share a plate :) read more

Went for desserts with my family on a busy Saturday. We had to join the waitlist but thankfully we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. We ordered a variety of desserts. My personal favourites were the matchamatics, matcha say, and the puddin on the ritz. As you can tell, I love matcha. All the desserts were presented well and tastes really good. Maybe because it was really busy but the ice cream scoops were smaller than usual and the Belgian waffle was not as crispy. Aside from that, the place was also very spacious and clean, and the service was pretty good. One of my go too spots for crepes and waffles. read more
Ever since I moved to downtown Markham, I've been seeing this place always busy, so decided to give it a try. I got the white chocolate ice cream and honey vanilla ice cream with French crepe and strawberries. I find the white chocolate ice cream too sweet, I was hoping it would taste like the ones at D-SPOT which is really good! But the honey vanilla one was just right. I would definitely come back to try their other desserts! read more

Even though the wait times can be long and service can be slow.... But the desserts are really good. I can't really think of a better ice cream waffle place. I love their frequently updated menu with new ice cream flavours and seasonal options. read more
The food was really good! I ordered pretty in blush (strawberry ice cream topped with lots of strawberry and white chocolate sauce) and the plate was huge! Definitely need to share this with someone. The dessert is plated really beautifully with a swipe of white chocolate sauce on the bottom and very generous amount of ice cream and fruits. I think I missed strawberries season though, as the strawberries were no longer sweet but that's ok. The customer service was good, we were checked up on often and we were allowed to choose our seats too. Definitely would come again! read more

I love Demetres so much! It's always been a go to dessert place for me and my friends. There are many things I wanna try on the menu, but my usual go to is the Blush Waffle. So good! This time, I went with a friend, it wasn't too busy as it was mid afternoon! We decided to order a waffle but the Pomme Pinot (I think that's what it's called?). It was delicious. It tasted like a warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream and a nice warm waffle under it. I would definitely have it again and maybe this will be my go to dessert at Demetres now. Service was amazing as well. Our server was very attentive and would come to check up on us! Overall Demetres will always be my go to for dessert! read more

The menu makes it sound a lot better than it actually is. Disappointed by the banana split. Expected more based on the description. Not a whole lot of whipped cream. Basic ice cream flavors, brownie bites and banana slices. Nothing special. read more

Strawberries are the superior fruit change my mind. . Absolutely DROOLING over this waffle from @demetres OVERFLOWING with strawberries . DEMETRES Belgian waffle, strawberry royale ice cream, fresh strawberries, strawberry coulis . 4/5 . I love Demetres! They're my go-to dessert place for my friends and I. There's plenty of parking nearby, and these past few times I went there hasn't even been a wait. The belgian waffles are so crisp, light, and airy. They're a dollar more than the French crêpes, but definitely worth it! The dessert featured definitely satisfied my sweet tooth the strawberries were big, sweet, and fresh, and the warm waffle underneath was one of the best I've had I think they've changed their menu since I ordered this. Visited Demetres on a Tuesday evening. It was pretty quiet and the service was quick and attentive. We ordered the Tongue Depressor crepe. Lots of brownies, chocolate sauce, and a gigantic scoop of chocolate ice cream (filled with more brownies). The crepe was fresh and warm. Overall good experience! read more

This restaurant is childhood. I remember coming with friends back in high school and was sad to learn it closed down. I must say, this new location is much bigger and well lit in comparison. We came on a Saturday evening with a group of 8. We surprisingly did not have to wait long to be seated. We ordered a selection of ice cream waffles and coffee (tip - free refills for coffee!). All were very filling and delicious. I ordered the Moo La La ice cream waffles which was a little sweet for my liking. I suggest you share with another as the portion sizes are quite big! read more

Been to demetres several times now, each time has been enjoyable. This time I decided to order the strawberry waffle with a hot milk chocolate drink. The strawberries on the waffle were sweet and fresh, the strawberry ice cream topping the waffle wasn't too sweet, just the right level of sweetness. The waffle this time wasn't as crunchy though, but the waffle itself had a nice sweet flavor to it. For the milk chocolate drink I was able to substitute the milk with soy, which is appreciated a lot. The drink itself isn't too sweet and it's a nice thickness. Service was good, very attentive consistently checking in on us and also very polite. The prices for the waffles are very fair considering how much you get. One portion could honestly feed 2 people. I can never finish 1 by myself. Overall, I would rate them 5/5. read more
I come here whenever I'm craving for a super filling dessert! Love this location and the decor is very colorful, bright, and has many booths for groups. They are very generous with the portions, and the price isn't too bad for sharing. I personally have a soft spot for anything strawberry and the waffles taste delicious! read more

Great dessert place!! We tried the Moo La La on a Belgian waffle and Pretty in Pink on a liege waffle. Their house made strawberry ice cream was amazing and they definitely did not cheap out with 3 huge scoops! The quality and the portion sizes were A++ ! And the beautiful ambiance and friendly and attentive service made our night even better. Even though it was busy, there is plenty of room and it's not too crowded, and we never felt rushed. Great experience. Will definitely be back to try other items!! read more

Anyone who grew up in the GTA will either have heard of or been to Demetres before. It has always been a staple location to meet friends over desserts and definitely an oldie but goodie. This new location opened up last summer and I've been back multiple times already. The renovations are excellent and everything about this place screams fun - from the pastel colours and bright ambiance to the dripping effect of the walls. It almost feels like you're in a Katy Perry music video! Now the desserts are a bit pricey (with crepes and waffles costing you $15-16 each) but the portion sizes are pretty big so they could easily be shared. There's a good variety of options on the menu and while they have preset recommendations, you could always switch out some of the toppings and customize it yourself! My favourite item is definitely Moo La La because the roché ice cream is absolutely delicious and complemented beautifully with crunchy praliné croquant, bananas, and nutella. Overall, I found that the dessert wasn't too sweet and it was a nice treat to sneak in post-dinner without feeling too heavy/stuffed! Demetres is by far one of the better dessert places in the GTA and is definitely worth checking out! read more

This is one of the worst crepes I have ever tasted in my life the crepe tasted raw and the strawberries I believe were either rotten or turning bad. Everything just seemed overly sweet. They should stop opening these garbage places and taking peoples money. I can make a ten times better crepe at home for the amount they are charging these people are thieves. read more
Came there for dessert on a Thursday night. The place wasn't too busy. First time coming here and noticed the decor was very colourful. The flower wall in the back looks good from afar, however when we sat close to it, you can tell they just took a photo and blown it up. Very blurry up close and not as pretty looking. The pac man things hanging from the ceiling was a bit odd. Not sure if that was meant to look like flowers. Although the decor is nice, does not seem too practical. Some of the bigger tables had long booth chairs, however not back, can't lean on it. The tables with the baby pink is nice, but perhaps they used the wrong material, as the table already has stains on it. Not a good look. Moving on to the dessert! My friend and I ordered the tongue depressor. Perfect for sharing as it comes with a full waffle and a huge scoop of ice cream! It also had brownie and whites chocolate chips. Overall the dessert was just O-K. The waffle was personally not warm enough when we got it. It could've have been a little bit more crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. But it wasn't. The chocolate ice cream was okay. Nothing special. The brownie was overly sweet. I feel like if they had bananas in this one it would complement the dessert a bit better to just balance out the flavours. For $16.50, I really don't believe it was worth the price. Service was good. There are a lot of better dessert places. I will not be in a rush to come back here. read more

One of the best Demetres locations that I have been to! Also probably one of my favourite dessert spots. I've been here numerous times now, and each time it's about the same experience! To begin, the dessert here is AMAZING! I've tried many items on the menu, however my favourites would be the following: - Splitsonian on a French crepe - Moo La La on a Belgian waffle - Piece Talks (under Cakes) - Brownie Points (under Cakes) My all time favourites are Piece Talks and Brownie Points, both of them are a must try for sure! The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service is always SO slow, even when they aren't super busy! The wait times to order, find a server and to receive your order can be crazy at times. Don't get me wrong, the servers here are nice, but it shouldn't take 3 times for someone to ask for water for the server to bring it over! However, I definitely recommend this location! Super clean too! read more
I love their decor, really spacious, with different floral patterns as the design element. The back kitchen was decorated with mint green tile which a really nice backdrop. But wow, isn't Demetres a little bit pricey with most dessert over $13. I ordered the one for $16.50 plus tax which was the key lime bling with waffle. The key lime sorbet was just delightful and refreshing; however, I felt that this some how did not go well with strawberry. I think might they can try to pair it with raspberry which would yield a better flavour profile. The server that was really professional and friendly. I could tell she was getting a little annoyed by our table, but she kept being polite. Good job! I also really like the little post card given to each of us as a little gift. I thought that was a really nice touch. I wish that they make smaller portion and lower their price point a little bit. At end, maybe they would make more money, because less people would share. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and was met with beautiful decor and everything was simply beautiful. I was grateful that there was adequate social distancing between tables and it had quite a spacious interior. I ordered 2 items off of their winter menu, the dark haze which is an iced mocha drink and the formula bun. The formula bun was wonderfully plated and simply beautiful the look at. It featured a fudge brownie bits which were very flavorful and soft and chewy. The ice cream was dulce and banana flavored. It was a tad too sweet in my opinion however the bun pastry was the best part of the dish. It was super flaky and buttery and helped to balance the sweetness of the dessert. The dark haze drink was very disappointing. It was made from espresso and Nutella. I could barely taste either and the Nutella clumped at the bottom of the drink making it hard to drink as it clogged the straw. Parking was super easy at this location and was not an issue. Service was quite slow with only one server and it was hard to catch her attention most of the time. read more

I've been to this location before and I was really impressed in my last visit but this time everything was a miss. The service was unresponsive and slow. My icecream had ice crystals in it and overall underwhelming. I will still come back because I know this location has better service and product but it didn't live up to their standards. the dessert the good but really not worth $23 for a couple crepes and scoop of ice cream... that cost more than a main dish at a nice restaurant. a kid scoop of ice cream is $8!? a little outrageous. not worth it especially when there are other great places around. i get it's a franchise but needs more competitive prices. or have promos read more
I went to Demetres tonight around 9:30 PM and it was so packed! We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes for a table for 3 but I didn't mind the wait because I knew it'd be worth it. We sat down and quickly decided what we wanted since we wanted our desserts fast and flagged down a server; she came quick considering how busy it was. We got the Pomme Pilot and the New Fork City which were both delicious. The Pomme Pilot was served with a white chocolate silk ice cream and warm apple crisp; this was so good and definitely a favorite, I really liked the ice cream! The New Fork City was very unique with its Vietnamese coffee ice cream, but I think the rest was decent. I'm definitely coming back next time to try the other desserts! If I could I'd give Demetres a 4.5 because they are on the pricey side, but since I can't my rate has to be a 5! read more

loved this location! didn't have any dessert but went for some tea! The loose lead chai masala tea was AMAZING! one thing that I think they need to add is gluten free options. There aren't many options available for people for people are GF, besides some ice cream and teas! read more

Demetres Markham location was a delight to visit. Staff were super friendly and approachable. They seated me right away. I had ordered the Splitsonian Belgium Waffle. It was DELICIOUS! The waffle was freshly made topped with bananas and strawberries and drizzled with chocolate. On top, there was a large scoop of the most yummy Vanilla Bean ice cream which I can't get enough of. Dessert was beautifully presented and I couldn't have asked for a better dessert. Amazing! It was not too sweet - the combination of flavors worked for me. read more
Demetres will always be the king of desserts for me, but this particular location really takes the cake (& crown)! THE FOOD: As with all other Demetres, the menu includes old favourites, new concoctions and seasonal items to tickle your sweet tooth. The crepes are moist, the fruit is fresh and the icecream is decadent. I personally always get a black tea on the side to cut some of the sugary feeling in my veins so I can try a lot without overdosing. Their portion size has decreased over the years, going from massive shareables noone can finish to just perfect for 2. THE SERVICE: Came on a weekday evening with my sibling and was immediately greeted and seated by the hostess who doubled as our waitress. She was funny and carried on an enjoyable banter with us throughout our stay. We never felt rushed, and when her shift ended she introduced us to someone else who would continue to look after our needs. The facilities are clean, and there are multiple all-gender washrooms on site. THE ATMOSPHERE: There are only 2 Demetres where I've found the decor to be modern and not tacky; the one on Orfus Road and now this! The new Markham location delights with cute and colourful shapes, figures and a floral wallpaper in the back. Perfect way to finish off that date night or just catchup with an old friend and let the sugar high induced giggles out. There is a cacao70 right next door, but unless I'm specifically in the mood for fondu, I've always preferred the wide range of customizable options at Demetres better. read more

Demetres ice cream is always top notch and so are their waffles. So much ice cream is served and the bananas were perfectly caramelized. Food came quickly and we were served a carafe of water when we got there. Service was good, food and restaurant were beautiful. Will be back for sure! read more
Damn..I haven't been to Cafe Demetre's for a loooooong time. At least a good 5 years. So much has changed since then. I have only been to the other location and many good memories were made there so I couldn't wait to try out good desserts again. Located in Downtown Markham across from Cineplex, Cafe Demetre's offers a wide range of desserts from waffles to cheesecakes and drinks as well. The interior was bright and colourful and many seats were available during a weekday afternoon. I usually see that it gets fairly busy during nights when people finish watching a movie and want a quick dessert before going home. I remember back then the menu used to be huge with a ton of options to choose from, but now they have reduced it to about 10 items per category which is disappointing. I believe they should have an option to customize your own dessert per topping as well. Fortunately the portions were still very large and I had to share with my friend during this visit. My friend and I shared the Sweet Car Named Devour on a belgian waffle and I also ordered the drink called Stormy Weather. Both were really good although Stormy Weather was a tad too sweet for my liking. I probably won't get that again since I'm not a big fan of caramel. Their desserts are quite pricey coming in at $15.50 (crepe) and $16.50 (waffle) before tax so I do recommend sharing the desserts with your friend if you're tight on budget. I will be coming back to this location to hang out with friends though! read more

The location is bright and beautifully decorated with a floral theme and spring-like colour scheme. It was a little busy upon arrival, but we were greeted shortly by a courteous and friendly server. The Sweetcar Named Devour Belgian Waffle was ordered and it was a delicious combination of flavours. The Belgian waffle was a good size and very fluffy. The Chocolate Cashmere ice cream was a very rich, but balanced chocolate flavour that complemented the fresh sliced strawberries and chocolate drizzled on top very well. I felt like I was eating a plate full of chocolate covered strawberries with every bite, and the flavours highly complemented the waffle which soaked up the rich chocolate ice cream flavour. The server was very gracious and attentive to our needs. I would definitely visit again and order the same waffle flavor as well. read more

The place was busy early afternoon. We were seated quite promptly but took a while for our order to be taken. I had one of the summer special Belgian waffles : Pine for you. It had a massive scoop of pineapple sorbet with caramelized bananas and cinnamon bits. The presentation was nice on a pastel plate. The waffle was a bit cold. The combination of flavour was well with a crunchy texture. I would recommend this dessert as a way too cool you off on a hot Summer day! read more

The food is delicious but way too expensive! I have loved the waffles and milkshakes I have gotten but they are definitely very overpriced for what it is. Great location and atmosphere, especially for late night desserts. I just wish that my wallet hurt a little less from getting a waffle. I tried the seasonal waffle and I loved it though! This Demetres is the best one I've been to. Not only is the dessert good but the interior here was designed in such a way that it actually is in line with the concept of this franchise. Upon walking in, I love this interior compared to the old, and cramped Demetres. It's big, with high ceilings, super colourful, and is very bright. Okay, enough with the interior and onto the desserts here. If you're coming here you should already know that it is highly recommended to share a dessert here. It's a lot, especially the crepe or waffle plates with a mountainous scoop of ice cream. It is also somewhat pricey considering it's just dessert, but they do them super well here. We tried the streetcar named devour. A chocolate ice cream scoop with fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce on a waffle. The waffle was freshly made and was still warm and fluffy when served. The ice cream here was well made; there's a 'hardness' about their ice cream here. It's not soft serve and it's better like this. The ice cream was really rich and cream, and very smooth. There was a lot of it, and that's a good thing! The strawberries really surprised me here; I didn't expect them to be so sweet. They were definitely fresh too because they weren't soft at all. All in all, we really enjoyed demetres and it's nice to have another main player in the dessert game in central Markham! read more

The dessert at Demetres are quite good and looks appealing. The amount of food is huge especially the ice cream. The ice cream that is provided from this restaurant is very good quality and the crepes is hot and crispy. The presentation of the dessert is excellent. The customer service is good overall. went to the store around 6pm and wasn't busy. first time inside this demetre and the decor looks fantastic. The pastel wall color was very unique and fitting for the desert menu. we were quickly seated and provided with the menu. I ordered the sweet car Belgian waffle that was very tasty, chocolate ice-cream with strawberry in a fluffy waffle. was nicely covered with a layer of icing. the strawberry was surprisingly fresh and sweet considering the season. read more
Beautiful and cozy dessert place in Downtown Markham. They open until 12am on Friday and Saturday and Sunday to Monday til 11pm. Plenty of parking across the street next to Good Catch. We ordered the New Fork City Waffle. The coffee iceream was huge! The waffle was warm and tasty. Price is at the higher end at $16.25 for the waffle of you can pick the French crepe for $15.25. Hands down one of my favourite places for waffles!Their desserts aren't cheap but it is reflective in their portion sizes cause they're huge! Aesthetically their desserts are really nice and they taste amazing. We usually order their tongue depressor or splitsonian. Staff is always really friendly and checks up with you every so often to make sure everything is good. read more
