Very good. Located in downtown, right next to the big city fountain. We ordered for lunch today, 2016-07-21 Thu: - Dolmathes - Charbroiled Tri-Tip Sandwich - Mousaka All were very good, especially the dolmathes and the mousaka. We sat outside and had a nice view of the fountain and downtown. Noise from traffic was hardly noticeable, the street isn't right next to the patio, it is quite some feet away. When we are in town, this is definitely a place we will return to. read more

We tried Demetri's for the first time on Friday night. Wow great food. We love food we can eat in tastes, little appetizers that have different flavors that you can enjoy. Demetri's was perfect. We ordered 2 appetizers and a sandwich to share. We never got to the sandwich. The appetizers were huge and flavorful. The service was good and people were friendly, the owner came over and said hi. We sat outside and on the patio and watched people go by. We liked it so much,. the next night, we had to be downtown again, we decided to go back. Again the food was excellent, flavorful, and good size portions. (we only orders 1 appetizer and 1 sandwich this time). Help was very friendly and again the owner came by to chat. Meal was flavorful, but a bit too oily. Included some organics. Service was inconsistent(lots of attention until it was time for the bill), but friendly(except when waitress assumed we were both women-husband wasn't so happy about that, but wouldn't let me include a photo to prove how much he does NOT look like a woman ;- ). Good specials. Baklava was unique, had a nutmeg flavor and was huge(enough for 2). This place replaced Ancestros, which was also good, so I hope it survives. To begin with, Livermore is no longer a "cowboy town," as it was when I lived there in the '80's. So, in town, May 1st, visiting my son and his family, took in the Wine Festival. My daughter-in-law raved about Demitri's, I was willing to try, although I know nothing about Greek food....but, hey my mom always told me to try new things. Debbie was right. Lacking in ambiance, but decent food and good service make it an okay place to dine. I wouldn't say anything was fantastic, but everything was okay. We had Chicken Souvlaki, Chicken Marsala, Greek Salads, etc., and all were what you'd expect, without any good or bad surprises. The best greek restaurant around!! Food is consistently delicious. Our server, Shannon, is so friendly and accommodating and she always makes the perfect recommendations. She's a gem! We only get out there every few months but she remembered us on only our second visit! Now THAT is service! I'd give this restaurant 10 stars if I could!! The bifteki, gyro and moussaka are delicious and the flaming cheese appetizer is so good! Great selection of Greek beer too!! Update: Dimitri's you're doing something right. Five of us came in for lunch to try the Lamburgers. Food was great tasting and portions were large. Most of all I want to complement the table service which was excellent. It is so rare these days to have servers on point. There were two different male employees alternately working our table to keep glasses full and to check in. Great job all around! In all honesty, I found this place by mistake and have been a recurring customer since. I stumbled upon this place headed to a warriors game and now has been tradition me and my brother have upheld for about 5 years now. The food portions are solid and that bread and dip set the tone. Pure AMAZINGNESS and if you're lucky enough to order the swordfish do it!. They were even kind enough to create a vegetarian dish for my girlfriend even though they do not normally cater to that. Came here the other week for pick up. I ordered the lamb burger and the prawn salad. My girlfriend got a Mediterranean plate. We aren't normally in the area and we were just visiting a friend BUT the food was amazing! The veggies were fresh, which goes a long way for us. It's not easy finding a fresh and authentic Mediterranean place but Dimitri's certainly delivered. If we lived closer, this would be our go to Mediterranean spot! I have been there three or four times. The last two times were rather difficult because they staff simply were not able to serve promptly or present a check promptly. The last time I was with a group of 20 and it took us two hours to get out of there. We had advanced reservation.. It took forever to get someone to take our order, even longer to get served, and then we were not all served at once. Finally, when we were able to procure a check- long wait, and mix-up's', we had to wait and wait for the person to finalize payment (cash). The food is good, and some people have not had the long waits, but the same thing happened when it was just my husband and me and the place was half empty. My father and I caught a quick lunch here. He got dolmathes and I got the blue cheese chicken on a bed of spinach. We shared our dishes and got to enjoy all the delicious flavors. Today since the weather was absolutely gorgeous, and I wanted a friend to try this spot so we could catch up. First, I have to say, we got the BEST waitress ever! Her name was Maddyson. Love the unique spelling. She was Sweet, Friendly, Attentive, and most of all - Genuine. :) She offered to give my dog some water and suggested what would be good to order off the menu for her. My Bella (dog) is a princess, haha. We ordered : Calamari, Hummus, and two Gyro Lunches. All was amazing! The gyros are huge so we couldn't finish all our food! Maddyson's service is what made our lunch even more enjoyable as we caught up. I hope to get her again in the future. Anyone visiting this restaurant, should request her if possible. This spot is perfect to sit outside while everyone is out in downtown Livermore on a nice afternoon or evening. read more

Flies Everywhere outside. Could not enjoy our meal spent the whole time swatting flies off our food. They really need to rent a power washer and not only wash their area but the boozing establishments on both sides. The spilled food and beverage appears to be what's attracting all of the Flies. We went here for lunch this past Sunday. I've had Greek food before, never was too impressed by it. I was lukewarm on even going here, but my wife wanted to. Happy wife, happy life. She liked it more than I. I just feel the food is mediocre at best. Very average and I felt they were just pushing out the dishes. Not too much attention it IMO. I think they do well because they have a prime location. I had a draft beer, not cold. Always bothers me that beer is not cold at some places. Alex was our server, I give him 5 stars. We wanted to sample some smaller plates, so we ordered some appetizers: The Dolmathes were fat and juicy, stuffed with rice and seasoned ground beef, lots of flavor and comes with a yogurt dipping sauce! The Gyro Bites is a plate of Gyro ingredients, comes with sliced pita, Gyro meat, tomatoes, sliced red onion, pile on the toppings, comes with tzatziki sauce, I.e. chopped cucumber with yogurt & garlic, that is awesome! Next, we tried the Flamed Saganaki, tasty fried cheese, comes with pita, capers, red onion and sauce; it was tasty. Finally, The Lamb Pops ($12 bucks for 4) are to die for! Literally, better than Outback's lamb chops! I would get these time and time again! Seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection! Melt in your mouth! -Since we had a child with us, he ordered the kids Hamburger Sliders. The sliders are good size but they were a little over cooked, other than that, they were tasty and they come with a heap of hot, crunchy fries. The portions here are big and their prices are fair. The establishment is clean, the bathrooms are spotless! I will be coming back to sample more of their awesome menu! read more
