    Buffalo Tenders Dinner
    Tiffany N.

This was such a ride. An interesting ride. We stopped by here on Sunday night for dinner and to watch football. TVs a plenty and was happy to see some west coast teams on. When we walked in, nostalgia hit me since the inside of this place looks like a place my family used to frequent in Florida. A younger guy came over to us, we told him there was five in our party and he said he would have to talk to his manager even though there were five or six open tables in view. We got a bigger table near the stage area where the bluegrass band set up for the night. The staff seemed straight up frazzled. It was hard to get our servers attention and had to follow up with requests for a few items throughout the night. I got the buffalo tenders and fries and it was passable but barely any sauce and unfortunately that's one of the items that I requested and never got. It took a while too so this one goes onto my list of "I just want to give you money". It. Seems like a lot of the locals love it and have a history here which I love and would love if we had a positive experience but from here on out this place will stay outta the way of memories (I couldn't resist).

Grilled chicken sandwich with a side of onion rings

Wife and I decided to come here and try this place out after the gym on a Sunday, the service was really friendly and attentive, however the place was very dark and gloomy. As far as the food, it was good but nothing exceptional, the pierogies were the best thing we tried, the so called "best wings in Moco" were a let down, dry and stringy while the grilled chicken sandwich was quite dry but it still tasted good. Overall the experience was alright but not great or exceptional.

52nd Street Eastsider Samich Dinner with side of pierogis.

In the neighborhood for dinner tonight and this looked like a decent place from the Yelp reviews. I'm glad I came. I had the 52nd Street Eastsider sandwich ("samich"). For my side, I got an order of pierogis, one of the items this place is known for. My partner got a bowl of crab soup ($10) and the Duff salad. The menu is interesting, as there's a back story for a number of the items. For my sandwich (sorry, samich), the story is it was invented in New York City 57 years ago. I can't swear to that, but I can tell you it's a delicious sandwich, with a good portion of Grilled prime rib, with sautéed onion, tomato, cheese and mayo on a perfectly grilled rye bread. I have not had pierogis in a long time and the side order of pierogis (4 of them) came in a cup accompanied by sautéed onions. The pierogi felt a little greasy, but that might have been butter. And it didn't taste greasy at all. The potato filling had a nice seasoning and the pierogi pasta itself was tender (not hard or dried out). Really good. My partner really enjoyed the crab soup. Lots of crab on top and the broth contained a variety of vegis, including corn. My partner said the soup could have used a little more Old Bay, but I thought it was good as is. The salad looked great and I was told the chicken was well prepared and moist, the BBQ sauce was tangy and the bacon crisp. Honestly, between the pierogis and the soup, we took half of the meal home. Looking forward to the leftovers. The server was very friendly and helpful. Nice, friendly vibe in this place. This was our first visit. I understand they have entertainment from time to time.

    Cheeseburger

It was exactly what I expected, but hoped for more. It's a generic bar and grill that for some reason appeals to the senior crowd (think gray hair on a Saturday night). The menu is very diverse, which should be a little red flag. Mom ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Burger was overcooked and under seasoned. Fries are pretty decent. Daughter ordered kids wings with onion rings. She said the wings were "mid", overcooked, almost like jerky (ouch). Husband ordered steak, cheese, fries and egg sandwich with slaw on side. Egg was over hard and he kinda expected some runny which it needed for moisture. Maybe the slaw would have done that too, but it was that tangy mayo flavor, so dodged that bullet. I ordered salmon with veggies (steamed broccoli) and pierogies. Salmon was overcooked (there is a pattern here). Pierogies were doused in butter, but tasted okay. We watched a little of the band, which starts at 8:30. It wasn't strong enough to get us to want to drink and hang, although the sax player was smooth! I would go back for a casual beer and greasy apps.

Catherine was terrible as a server. Wings were mid. Band was slightly better than the service. Ambiance was worse than the band. Avoid.

We ordered the Big Eaters Platter, the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs, and shared a Nutella Crepe with Strawberries for dessert. The portions were generous, especially the Big Eaters Platter, making it a solid choice if you're coming in hungry. The corned beef hash was decent, and the Nutella crepe with fresh strawberries was a nice sweet finish to the meal. That said, I thought the food was just okay for the price. Nothing we ordered was bad, but nothing really stood out enough to make me want to come back. The quality was solid, but I left feeling like there are better breakfast options in the area for the same price point. If you work nearby or are visiting one of the surrounding medical offices or hospitals, I could definitely see this being a convenient spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. However, as someone visiting the area, I don't think it's a place I'd go out of my way to return to. Overall, friendly service and a clean restaurant helped make for a pleasant experience, but the food didn't quite justify the price. A good neighborhood café if you're close by, but probably not a destination breakfast spot.

Calling the selection good would be an understatement. Flavors and styles lined the walls, and they have even introduced seasonal spring drinks alongside their custards and Italian ice. I ordered a gelati, which came with two flavors and the option to add a warm brownie in the center. They also offer prepackaged pints to take home. The only item that could not be sampled was the not fried chicken, their iconic Shark Tank inspired creation shaped like a chicken leg, where the novelty lies more in the form than the flavor. Some flavors had intriguing names like Tiger Blood and Midnight Fantasy, and the staff were more than happy to explain each one in detail. *Midnight Fantasy: featured a chocolate base mixed with chunks of brookie. It leaned heavier with a slightly grainy texture from the cookie pieces, but the chocolate itself was not overly sweet. It worked best when paired with something lighter. The brookie itself was well balanced, with a fudgy brownie component and a cookie that had a snickerdoodle like quality. *Mango Italian Ice: had a clean, fruity flavor and a smooth texture. It was not overly icy and paired nicely with the custard on top. *Honey Milk: was my favorite of everything I tried. The honey flavor came through strongly, both in taste and aroma, while the milky richness added a smooth creaminess. It paired beautifully with the Italian ice and balanced the richness of the Midnight Fantasy. *Spring Break Soda: was an interesting take on a Sprite style drink, with kiwi syrup, blue raspberry syrup, grenadine, and cold foam. It definitely delivered a sugar rush. There was a tropical feel, but it may be best suited for those with a serious sweet tooth. There is likely something for everyone here, and the friendly service makes it easy to find your match. While I would probably skip the sodas, the Italian ice and custard stood out for their quality.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the hostess who was very friendly. We arrived a bit late like 8pm and they close at 9 but luckily we were still able to be seated. The side car was bit strong but delicious and the Oaxacan Anticuado was a great play on an old fashioned. Charley's is known for their whisky cocktails so it was nice to experience a great drink that was not whisky. We ordered nearly every premium item on the menu--from the fried oyster appetizer to the crab cakes and various entrées--and none of it delivered. The red flags started early: the staff mentioned a recent menu change but knew nothing about it, and spent most of their time loitering and joking around. When the food arrived, the presentation was poor, and the taste was extremely below average. Paying a premium price for this quality is unacceptable. This was apparently their second menu since a recent remodel, but if things don't change, they won't last. Message to ownership: shut it down, fire the executive chef, and start over.
