I am beginning this review with my conclusion of my experience at this Denny's: Do not eat here! Especially if Kassandra R is your server! I started with my conclusion, before my reasoning, similar to how they served my group's desserts before not only the entrees, but the appetizers as well! I should have known to pick a different place to satisfy my late-night hunger when server Kassandra R belittled me and my group just as we were seated, yelling at us from across the diner as if we were some hoodlums breaking federal safety laws. Is it that difficult to talk to us privately without trying to make an example of us? The reason we were berated was not because of a specific action me and my group performed, but because of the lack of communication between the hostess and server. Kassandra R angrily and loudly reprimanded me and my group for simply sitting down at a booth in which the hostess directed us to, stating "Hey! You guys can't just sit down wherever you want, you have to wait to be seated. DON'T do that. Next time, WAIT to get a table." (There won't be a next time). As you can imagine, we were met with judgemental eyes from the other customers which in turn made us feel extremely out of place and unwanted. If we were in the wrong, we would have taken full accountability. Unlike how Kassandra R did not take accountability when we tried to calmly inform her that we were of course instructed to sit in that booth by her workmate. Instead, rolling her eyes and walking away without an apology for the miscommunication between her and the hostess. Upon ordering, we discovered that you can't trust the prices that are written on the menu! When someone in our party attempted to add a stack of pancakes to his meal, which on the $2 $4 $6 $8 value menu is only an extra two bucks, Kassandra R stated "Don't believe the prices, that will be an extra $3.49." Incredible. Just for your information, alternatively, if you decide to add a stack of choconana pancakes to your meal, it isn't $4 as advertised; it's actually an extra $5.59! What's the point of handing out that menu when it's full of baloney! As mentioned in my conclusion, the desserts were served way before the entrees and appetizers. And the appetizers, of course, weren't served before the entrees. How long does it really take to prepare microwaved tortilla chips, nacho meat, and cheese and serve to a table? I guess they wait for the tortilla chips to get soggy before serving. Kassandra R informed us that they were out of their wavy cut french fries and our entrees would be served with their seasoned fries. But she did NOT inform us that we would be charged an extra $1.19 for the substitution. Unbelievable. It also appears that customers are limited to only one glass of water, discernible by Kassandra R's lack of concern for a customer's empty glass. Throughout this nightmare of a dinner experience, my group and I remained respectful and were actually reluctant to offer any criticisms and complaints to the workers. Kassandra R might actually be surprised to find and read this review (because of a lack of self awareness, or perhaps because she simply does not care). It's a Denny's. I don't expect the best food in the world, or even the best service in the world, but I thought I could at least expect some self-respect from the workers that would extend to attentiveness for their customers. Thank you Kassandra R for helping me and my group realize we will not be visiting Denny's anytime in the near (or far) future. read more

Food was horrible, Ordered Bourbon Chicken Tenders with Mashed Potatoes and Zucchini. Mashed potatoes was cold. Had then sent back. They redid my whole plate this time mashed potatoes hot only in center, chicken tenders hard and smaller then the first batch. Zucchini was better then first batch. Grilled toast came out first time way before. Mango Lemonade was good. My son had Burger Slam ate before I got my food the 2nd time hower he ordered seasoned fries so he did have to use ketchup. You guest it, he had to use ketchup. They did take my meal off the bill but never again. I miss Florida. Denny's only got a 1 star cause there was nothing lower. Bad food. This is going to be long but do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs!!! This restaurant is, by far, the most rude & disgusting place we've ever visited! The table, our chairs & all of the menus were sticky!!! That's gross and unacceptable, pre-covid!! I had sanitizing wipes & hand sanitizer in my purse so we dealt with it, but it should have been a red flag for us. ‍ I ordered pancakes & scrambled eggs with American cheese. My eggs were wrong so I asked that they be taken off the check as soon as they were served. My husband ordered a burger with fries & ranch dressing. He never received the ranch. We had to ask for refills all 3 times our drinks were empty. When the waitress gave us our check, we noticed that she charged us for the ranch that we never received AND not just 1 but 2 servings of eggs + 2 servings of added cheese. The waitress disappeared after that, so we were unable to address the errors with her. Therefore, my husband brought the check to the hostess to pay & pointed out the mistakes at that point in time. The manager was present and instead of offering up an apology for the mistakes, he questioned my husband (repeatedly!!!) about why there were 2 sets of eggs & cheese additions on the check if we didn't eat them. My husband's response was quite literally -- "I don't know; that's what I'm trying to figure out, too." After having to debate with the manager for way longer than he should have, the two eggs were taken off the bill... but the ranch & the 2 cheeses were not. I don't understand what the problem was or why it was such an issue!! I also don't understand why they couldn't just ask the server about it, since it was apparently such a big deal! My husband was so tired of having to debate this ridiculous matter, he just paid for the extra items that we didn't receive/eat. The manager was very clearly trying to take advantage of us by nickel-and-diming us. While it had no financial impact on us, I can imagine this sort of thing being a big deal to others. Today I witnessed the most disturbing moment at this location! An employee was having a panic attack a management didn't help her only one coworker was trying to help her, they couldn't even get her medical attention they went about like nothing was going on. If this is how they treat there employees now imagine how little they care about there customers there a disgrace of a company! read more

Consistently substandard service. It's hard to order, hard to get an eye contact with any of the servers. Stuff is busy playing on their phones or chatting in a couple of peanut galleries. Manager needs to be replaced with someone more competent that shows up to work to do his job. Food is typically overcooked. Chicken is always hard as a shoe soul. Steak is always dry like a sand paper. This time around food was just burned. Im mot being funny here. Food was simply burned. Now add 25 min wait to the entire experience; that is after you complained. Otherwise you won't get engaged by the stuff at all. Even though there is only 8 customers here tight now. Overall experience here has never been pleasant. You always have to start off with a complaint after a long wait, to force one of the employees to get off the phone and do their job. After that you just sit there pissed off and can't enjoy the food even if it was done right. Ohh, and if you think you will get a glass of water after you asked for it multiple times? Good luck. Perhaps it's not an option in this location. Cruising FaceBook at work must be getting in their way. Also I must add that, all employees were always nice and respectful. There are no other restaurants in area open open 24h, other than one iHop. And biggest plus of this Danny's are the prices. I can't believe how cheap their menu is. Workers were attentive as soon as I walked into the restaurant and I did not wait long to be seated and to order. Food came out pretty fast which is always a plus! I ordered the grand slammich which was soooo good and the bread was toasted perfectly. My partner enjoyed the bacon avocado burger with a side of hash browns. I stopped at this Denny's. On my way home from shopping in the area, and I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised! This is the best Denny's I have ever been to, the staff was also pleasant, the ambience was calm and relaxing, and most impressive was how clean this restaurant is! One staff member in particular named Riza was very outgoing and friendly to my family, made us feel special and happy that we stopped there. The menu options were also very appetizing, I enjoyed my Wild Alaskan Salmon dinner thoroughly! I would make an extra trip down to the store to experience the service and food and friendly environment again very soon! On the way back from Baja, my buddies and I stopped by here for a bite. We were a bit pooped, and decided on recharging with caffeine. I was famished, so I went with the "Build Your Own Slam" (see photos). The coffee was smooth and delicious, and the food was actually prepared well. The staff was nice and attentive. The place is located in a not too bad part of town, Chula Vista. They are adjacent to a pretty good hotel that I've stayed in before. That time, this Denny's provided good service as well. My wife and I frequently eat at dennys. We have been to alot around San Diego. Hands down this location the food is always on point. I like to shout out Linzey Lindsay how ever you spell her name. She is just the best. Very friendly accommodating and loves her job. She always remembers our order even if we haven't came in couple of months. I try to go there when she's working becuase my experience at this location is amplified when she is our waitress. If you know how to dine at a restaurant and want the best experience I highly recommend Lindsay/ Linzey to serve you. I would've gave three starts ....but They always mess up our order somehow the service is sometimes so lazy mainly if you tip them thats always when they get so lazy! I like there food but theres been one to many times they messed up our orders and literally one time burned our chicken and had to wait 20 minutes for non burned chicken, the burgers are also super greasy and will upset your stomach we always order from this place if its our only option there service could be better besides that food is good and so are some of the staff and one time me and my family had to wait 1 hour for a smoothie witch is so ridiculous and sometimes its like where do you even go to pick up your food because both areas are locked and then you have to go through this area that looks so unprofessional and unsafe i reccomned but only if you want slow half done service. read more

Wanted to order to eggs, hash browns, and French toast. Although the one taking my order seemed helpful, I later realized that I could have just ordered the super slam and substituted the pancakes for French toast and would have cost me half the price. I was later told that I couldn't change my order because I had already been charged. The food was good and the server was nice, so I'm not upset. However the policy needs to change. I don't know of any businesses that can't issue a refund. Especially if the person behind the counter admits to have made a mistake. I guess it's my fault for not reading the menu. (Not really). Anyway, it's not a deal breaker, so it's not like I won't be coming back. I'll just have to leave the creative ordering to myself instead of relying on their input. This morning I went for breakfast to the Dennys in Bonita when we where seated there was 4 of us it took the waitress a long time to bring us the menu and silverware but it was ok wven tho it was not busy anyway we order our food she (Paola ) brought us our food still no silverware i asked her nicely she come back with 1 we are 4 in the table and i asked for an extra plate also one of us had asked if She can bring the pancakes a little later so they don't get cold she said she could not (other Dennys never said no ) anyway we said it's fine then u asked her for jelly for the toast and again for silverware (3 rd time ) she came back threw the jelly and the silverware on the table and said really loud bothered do you want anything else or that's it we didn't even answered her she never came back to the table the busboy gave us more coffee and was helping us this whole time we where not rude to her at all and we always thanked her and she gave us attitude even at the end when she came with the bill and just threw it on the table I work in customer service all my life and i did not appreciate the way we where treated at all we are long time customers of Dennys we go once or twice a week to have breakfast and we liked the Bonita location but after this I do not think we will return just because of the way she treated us I have never been treated this way we are not rude people we all are professionals and are all about customer service you should talk to Paola and have her be nicer to customers and leave her attitude outside read more
