Today my wife wanted a Milk shake, she was in the hospital for a week and is limited on what she can have right now, so we stopped at what used to be our favorite Denny's, NO MORE, this place has really gone down hill. It started out on check in, I put my name in and spelled, a simple 2 letter common name, he went to the moon, I was told it would be apx 25 min wait, . I said ok, we sat down right there within 10 feet of the hostess podium, well time went by, and I started seeing couples being called and seated that checked in after us, so I asked her what the issue was, and she didn't have my name on the list, while I saw her write something down, I didn't think I had to make sure she wrote my name I told her down. Well a few words later, we got a table by the bathrooms, not a booth we had asked for. We had our meal, such as it was, I asked for coffee refill, never got it. We talked to the manager, and the manager was one of the women we had an issue with about the seating and had got rude with us. There was a older couple sitting in waiting area with us that told us they have done it to them 3 times. One note for all of us Pro Gun Ownership folks out here, I was wearing my pro gun shirt, maybe that pissed her off, but doesn't explain why she would do it to other folks. I usually come here in the mornings, but I haven't really been here since they opened up the Eastlake location. They seem to have new management and/or new employees in general. I saw this sign walking in, http://imgur.com/a/v6nOi I asked about it and 2 employees who were on break, or just slacking off resting on the tables right next to me laughed at me and told me it wasn't forth of July anymore. They also thought I was talking about the pancakes. I don't really care if they weren't offering it anymore, I was just curious because they still had a sign up on the window. The waitress offered to do a build-a-burger for me only after I walked outside and took a picture of the sign. I didn't end up ordering it, but after being made to look like an idiot when they didn't even know about the sign outside, it really irritated me. Throughout the eating experience, I got to watch and listen to employees sitting down on tables behind us in uniform. At one point our server sat down at the table behind us with another employee (off the clock I'm assuming) while we waited for the bill. Honestly the food wasn't bad and that actual server was ok for the most part except for the beginning and the end, but everything was very unprofessional. The only possible time Dennys could ever be anything less than sickening would be on a drunken and/or high bender. This ensures that you are in the purest state of hunger, hurdling you at your most willing point to ignore all of your natural born instincts. "Just say no" can sometimes be for the better kiddies. I blame hunger for my breakfast mistake this morning. I ate a half-order of The Grand Slamwich and five Pancake Puppies. Both are new items (also note, in Denny's case, "new" can sometimes mean crap). I was somewhat happy that a half-order was available, during the week 5am-4pm. +1 star. The Grand Slamwich is just as it sounds. A Grand Slam packed into a sandwich. They lather the potato bread with maple spice to give it a pancake appeal. But with the super-mayo-clogger on the other side of the slice, and three meat pile up, I felt ill just touching it. The Pancake Puppies seemed like a marvel idea. This promise of breakfast sweets made me stay. It's a pancake roll, coated with cinnamon and sugar then baked crisp to serve. The first one was spectacular. The next four sent me down a depressing spiral. I had to face the fact, I'd just been duped by Denny's again. On the drive home, I fell asleep at two stop lights. Thanks potato bread. read more

this is always my go to Denny's after a late night and every now & then for actual breakfast. Well let me tell you how that has changed. The Denny's has been remodeled (hadn't been here in a while). Me & my friend walked in & gave the manager Omar our names to be seated, he said the wait would be about 15 minutes which wasn't bad at all. Since there was no room to sit down me & my friend just stayed standing by the wall as we waited. A few minutes later the manager Omar proceeds to tell us we're in his way and to move in a very rude manner, even though there was no room really to sit anywhere. As the manager kept getting people's name to sit them, we realized he called someone's name that arrived after us. It was a little upsetting that he skipped us, we made a big deal but he just kind of brushed it off & said he would seat us right after. 3 minutes later we get a table, next to the people that we were skipped for. It was very upsetting to see the people next to us getting their drinks/food way faster than us. All because OMAR decided to seat them first. I mean I know this place isn't the Nordstrom of customer service, but it would be nice to get DECENT service as paying customers. When we were going to pay of course there was also no change & had to wait yet again. Luckily for us since our waitress was amazing we just left it as a tip for her. As we had already waited enough for one day. Honestly, I wish I could give them ZERO stars, but our waitress Marcy I believe was amazing. She was very nice & attentive to us. It was refreshing to see that not everyone lacks customer service like your manager. Working in retail as a manager I feel like the manager is one of the most important people to make a good Impression & honestly Omar lacks those skills. It's very unfortunate. Continuing the week long journey of Comic-Con 2011; we stayed across the street at the Ramada and stumbled our way over here for some extreme late night-early morning grub. Our fabulous server Naida took care of us three nights in a row. Service was always prompt and courteous and she was a pretty cool chick. We talked to her about our film project (Amy - www.amywantsrevenge.com), so the fact that she listened and kept up the friendly banter meant a lot to group of out-of-towners. The food was okay. I had an omelette on one night and bacon, eggs, and sausage on the others. Again, it's just a Dennys, but the company I was with more than made up for it. Won't be going there again. FIRST time ever that I don't tip. First, my daughter and I decided to go for late dinner since my other kid was out with her friends. We walk in and ask us where we want to sit I point to 3 open tables but the lady seating pointed to a table by the bathroom. I said I prefer not and point again to the open tables. There's 3 of them! She seats us on the one table that still needs to be wiped down instead of the other two. The next group comes in (2 gentlemen) and guess where they are seated? Yup, you guessed right, one of the other two available tables. I just didn't get it. My daughter and I then order. 10 minutes later she comes back and says they don't offer kids pizzas anymore. I told her I wouldn't know since we didn't get a kids menu. My kid ordered off the online menu. She then brings a kids menu. And says she won't place the order until she gets my kids order and walks away. Another 5 minutes pass and she comes to take our order. My 10 yr old then notices the hostess helping out with the food orders but at the same time keeps sticking her hands into her jacket (non uniform) which is pretty gross since who knows when the last time she washed it or what's in there. Our order finally comes out. But at the same time leaves my bill and says take as long as I want. Never came back again and never got a refill on my $3+ soft drink. So, now do you see why I didn't leave a tip. I don't like to argue and I didn't want to make a scene by complaining. Nice on the inside but service is SLOW and manager was rude! I came here for a birthday breakfast. I've always loved Denny's and to this day nothing pleases me more than a grand slam for breakfast. When we entered the manager, who was also seating people, had a certain tone he took with my mom that I didn't like. My mom said we needed a table for 4 plus a baby and he said..."so 5!?" in a really snarky way and my mom said - no 4 plus a baby. He rolled his eyes. The server was friendly enough...when we saw her. She barely came around and we noticed that everyone who was seated after us had gotten their food way before us. Half of our breakfast came first and the other half came about a good almost 10mins later. Also, normally Denny's servers come around with a pot of coffee very frequently, we kept having to ask for coffee and every time we did it took forever to get!! We sat there for another 10mins after we finished waiting for the check and finally my mom waved down the waitress to bring us our check. Normally Denny's is in, eat, and leave but this was just one long wait after another. The food was good as usual. On the way out my dad handed the manager my I.D. so he could verify it was indeed my bday and remove the charge for my breakfast. The manager did this, never looked up at me, never wished me a happy birthday and just rattled off the new total to my dad. When we were leaving, I asked him if he was the manager and what his name was so I could make sure I could leave a yelp review. Seeing now that this page is FILLED with negative reviews I see that yelping him a new one will do nothing so I'll just try to corporate office instead. His name is Omar BTW. Ordered from here this past weekend for the first time. The country fried chicken came without gravy. That's...not edible. I called them to bring some and they said - get this - I had to reorder the entire meal again to get gravy. Oh, I could ask Door Dash to not charge me. Whaaat?! We placed our order at Dennys.com and the receipt only said Denny's. Nothing about Door Dash. I've complained to the store, to corporate and to DD - it's really about principle and getting what we paid for. No response. We paid about $52 for food and couldn't eat a $15ish meal from it. Buyer beware. It sucks that it's so close to our house and now we won't go back, but customer service is everything. read more

Had to constantly ask different waiters for help but never got checked up on by our original waitress. Our order was also wrong. If there was an option to give NO STARS, I'd choose that. Waited nearly an hour to get our food ( 2 country fried steaks & biscuits and gravy). All the servers and cooks only seemed to serve one specific table (their friends table) and brought their food out in 10 minutes for a party of 8+ people. ALL servers were in the back laughing and joking while our food wasn't even being made. OVERHEARD our server asking the cooks about our order and apparently it was forgotten (it's already been 45 minutes at this point) Our biscuits and gravy came out cold and the sunny side up eggs were RAW. I was being convinced to eat something I didn't order. Even though I am allergic to the Nutella on my crepe, he(waiter) tried convincing me to eat it because it was natural chocolate. However, I ordered the Carmel to avoid having an allergic reaction. I had to ask multiple times to have my order changed. But in the end they fixed it for me and gave me extra Carmel. It is what it is. A chain restaurant that serves pretty good but not great food. Very reasonable prices. Very clean. Decent but not great service. Free Wifi. For the price you can't beat it. Not gourmet quality but good in a pinch. One of the best deals is the chicken parmesan with pasta and a drink for 8 bucks. Great deal! One day I ordered it and they did not have pasta so they gave me hash browns. Weird combination but I actually liked it. Obviously you don't go to Denny's for a memorable but it is what it is. Great value for the price you pay in a clean environment. In this economy you can't beat that. read more

Now its been YEARS since I hit up a Dennys; not since my early years of partying in TJ as a young buck. I have no idea what made me want to take my kids here for a quick bite after a touristy day in La Jolla. We stopped by on the way home for a late lunch on a Thursday. BIG MISTAKE. It was 3 so the lunch crowd had finally died down by the time we got there but we still had to wait for approx 20 mins to be seated (2 adults, 2 teens, 2 toddlers) probably the size of the party had a lot to do with it so I didn't mind. The drinks got there fast but the food took a really long time and some of the plates were cold. I ordered the chicken wraps - DON'T DO IT. It's a less fancy version of a McDonald's grilled chicken wrap but the cold version and less tasty. My babies ordered spaghetti and pizza - both COLD. I could tell the pizza was cold before I even touched it because 1. it was white ( didn't look cooked) and 2. the cheese wasn't even melted so when I actually stuck my finger in the middle of it to confirm it was cold our waitress said she would get us a "new" pizza. LOL, she brought the same one just microwaved because it was definitely hot this time but with my finger impression still evident in the middle of the pizza. "New" my foot, that shizz was still white just super hot. I haven't seen a white pizza like that since elementary school! The others in my party ordered breakfast. I guess we should have ordered that because they didn't complain one bit and it was hot so I guess it's kinda hard to f@ck up breakfast. Well bottomline I won't even be coming back here again. I have no idea what made me stop here. I knew I should have just went to Chili's by my house. Oh and don't even get me started on the bathrooms. Talk about not checking for a while. Got most of my breakfast after while, pancakes didn't come out until I was ready for my check. I asked for them to go and finished my coffee got a mouth full of coffee grounds! Came in at 1245am with my husband. The host/manager sat us down right away and was very friendly. The place was not crowded. He told us our waitress Sandra (with resting B face) would be right with us. 10 min later Sandra never bothered to stop by or acknowledge us. At this point my husband and I were done waiting and thought our food at home sounded way better so we walked out. . Some Communication would've been nice or at least some eye contact. The manager was not there as we walked out but the whole staff including stank face Sandra decided to just stare at us as we walked out. Talk about bad service.
