Horrible service. Drive here for the nostalgia. I used to love Denny's years ago but wow have things changed. I came by myself today and the manager steered me towards a dark/gloomy part of the restaurant which I didn't like. I preferred to be in a small booth next to a sunny window. There was just one open but it needed to be bussed so I asked if it was ok if I waited for that booth in particular. I told her no rush. As soon as I sat down to wait, the manager told me to follow a lady that would seat me. I thought "that was fast!) . But this lady took me back to the dark depressing area again! I just turned around and walked out. With so many places to eat, putting up with bad service and a depressing environment is unnecessary. On a bright note, I discovered an amazing Thai/Japanese restaurant nearby and had a wonderful lunch! read more

Terrible restaurant. I am giving it one star because the food is ok. The restaurant serves a decent breakfast. However, the management is appallingly disrespectful and untrained. "Unfriendly " would be an understatement. The management is not only disrespectful, but sexist. The two working on August 7, 2021, should be fired. Sexism and disrespect for customers should not be tolerated by a corporation such as Denny's. The tables are "bussed" by an individual roaming the entire restaurant with a cart filled with dirty dishes and leftover food. It is unappetizing and filthy. During these days of the Pandemic when numbers are spiking, to stop in front of a table with people eating with a cart filled with other people's dirty dishes is simply not sanitary and should not be done. And do not try to speak to a manager. You will be asked to leave (if you are a woman). If you are a man and you speak to the manager, you will be given an apology and a $10 gift certificate. Stopped here at just before midnight on a recent Friday night. We were seated right away, the server was there right away physically, but she was either beyond exhausted, not at all bright, or strung out on something, because she quite literally asked us for our orders 3 times, and when we'd ask for additional items after our meals were delivered (my friend asked for gravy for his mashed potatoes, for instance), our server seemed to be utterly confused and we had to explain a few times just to get her to fulfill simple requests. Serving half cooked hash browns at a diner should be illegal. The wait time here always seems to be endless although the perk is that they're open around the clock for those days when everything else is closed. Located right on US1 in the UM/SoMi area, they claim to be a America's favorite diner but they have a lot of improvements to make if they expect to live up to that name. The fries were served soggy and the bread on the sandwich was barely toasted. Denny's used to be a spot to come to for good ol' comfort food at any hour although this location deviates from that standard quite significantly. Even if you order ahead of time (which ive tried) it still seems to take a century to come out which sucks pretty bad. read more

The reason that this is getting four stars is because of the service. I have been here a few times and I am always pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff is. I always feel more or less at home here they are all just incredibly hospitable and attentive and willing to talk and joke with you. The food is okay (I mean it's a Denny's, so I'm not expecting anything spectacular), but it is good for what you pay and it always come out as described and pictured. If I didn't believe in not giving 1 star I would have given one star... First I get here and the person at the door tells me just to set anywhere. So I do and waited for my waiter... And then I set some more and waited ... Then finally the same person that told me to set anywhere came up and asked if I wanted something to drink... I said coffee and waited..my coffee came.. but then I had to ask for sugar, then a spoon... I had almost drank my coffee before anyone even asked me if I was ready to order...so I ordered the T-Bone medium rare... 2 eggs Sunnyside up with hash browns scattered and well-cooked... And white toast...I asked for Liam pay rang for my steak they told me all they had was A1...well forget that I don't care for A1... Then I took a bite of my hash browns and some feeling my fork and I then had hash browns and ketchup down the front of my shirt...then when I noticed that no one had bothered to bring napkins to the table.... So once again I has to flag a waiter/waitress to ask for some...then I cut into what was going to be my nice medium rare T-Bone only to find it well done...had to send it back... And now I have been here for over an hour and no one has come to my table to ask how I like my food .or even to ask if I want more coffee... For today this Denny's really sucks... read more

I am a UM student so I always come here late at night for a bite, have always had mediocre to good service. However, tonight I was in with a larger group. It took us about 30 minutes to get seated, and when we sat down we never got waters or any wait staff. An hour later with no waters, we left. There were barely anyone in the restaurant. Don't go here unless it's the only place open. Spend your money at the McDonald's across the street, like we had to. read more

Wow, really??? I went here on a Friday night after 2AM and there were people there, but it was far from packed. Guess how long my friends waited for an order of nachos and a shake and a plate of chicken tenders and fries? It had to be an hour and a half. My friend told me he always had to wait hours at this location, but I forgot about the one on the Mile. Oopsies! Anway, on top of the ridiculous wait, the waiter was high. It was funny, too, because we noticed it right off. He actually took our order then came back 15 minutes later and goes "What kind of shake was that again?" I walked past this Denny's at least 100 times on my way between work and my parking lot. Finally decided to stop in. Exterior is very plain, and the interior isn't spectacular, but breakfast here is excellent. This Denny's serves grits the way they are meant to - in a large bowl with butter. Love the grits. Everything here is done right; eggs, bacon, pancakes. Don't let the simple decor deter you. Service has always been great; fast and friendly. Pay at the register on your way out. read more

So I had started going here about a month ago. The waiters were nice, the food ok. It mostly became a place to sit and eat then write, and study. Each time I brought my electric scooter, which folds down. I've gone there 4 or 5 times. Mostly at the wee hours or early morning. Today I came. I have been coming to this specific location throughout the years. I must say that I have been coming here more often within the past few months and if you want exceptional service, request a lovely server named Marisol. She is the cutest little thing and is extremely quick. She takes sincere pride in providing great customer service and that is always refreshing when going out to eat. As an UM alumna, I highly recommend this location where I don't feel it's always packed and service is wonderful for a good, hearty breakfast. In regards to food, I usually go with the slams: Create your own, Belgian, etc... Brings a little bit of everything for a nice price. Value is key for me. if they are nothing they are consistent. Consistently bad. Look at the other reviews and I you will find that this review offers nothing new or different. Hot, Humid, lots of dirty tables. While I appreciate staff and customers connecting and repeat customers make a business successful. But when the smooching and hugging holds up the process not so much a fan.....and I am talking about more then a quick hug and peck. The food was consistent with other Denny's sans the pathetic pieces of bacon (see pictures) and the wildly different amount of toast on the two pieces of bread they brought out....oh did I mention I had to tell the waitress wheat since she certainly did not ask. I was not even half way through the meal when my check showed up with not a "thank you or how was it?" Nothing irritates me more then someone who looks at you and then turns away...that is what the one waitress did when I tried to pay.....mind you she was working the register when I came in. It's probably surprising that I'm giving this place a 5-star rating. Basically if I'm finding that I need to go somewhere at 3 in the morning and be out late or I'm in a certain mood, I like to to go to this Denny's. I've found the food and service here to be consistently good, prompt, good service, clean, etc. I've been to some other Denny's or breakfast restaurants that were run a lot worse than this one. Overall, I've found this place to be consistently good for what it is and for what it offers. Since it's a chain, the food isn't going to be out of this world but I can also trust this particular location to do a good job at what it does offer. This Denny's have the worst service, the manager for the morning shift is rude, they simply don't care about the service, I order via online and when I arrived, there was people waiting their order inside, then the manager took off his face mask and start yelling instruction to the cook inside the kitchen just over my food!!!!, I cancelled the order and the manager start yelling at me, I ask him why his took off his mask when he was preparing the order and get mad about my question, then when a cancelled he didn't me any kind of solution. Walked in after having a good night of catching up with friends from out of town and was greeted by Bridgette around midnight. She wasn't quite fond of being at work apparently. She took our orders with disgust. I asked for turkey sausage and she informed me that it was possible and will add it to my order. I believed her. After about 10 min or so 3 gentlemen walked in after us and took a seat at the table in front of us. No surprise here, but they not only got their drinks and food before us but they were greeted with a smile and received consistent follow ups on how their meal was. Bridgette came by as well to check on us but said nothing. She just starred at our table as if we needed to hurry up so she can leave work (I'm sure this was just an assumption but still). When I advised her that I wanted turkey sausage she just said ok, walked away and before I knew it a manager came by and said "was there a problem?" I'm like idk I just know my order was taken incorrectly. She did a great job of letting me know that the turkey sausage wasn't an option at Denny's, something Bridgette should have known. In any case, the food was ok but tasted disgusting due to the service we received. I won't go back but I wouldn't advise it after hours either. Just stay home or go to iHop. read more
