Where to start! My husband, son and I arrived around 11am on the Sunday before Christmas so we were expecting it to be busy and to have a wait. The small lobby was congested with people waiting for a table and those trying to pay and leave. Within a few mins we were shown to a table at the far end of the restaurant (as I have trouble walking and use a cane something closer would have been nice but no big deal). We were seated by the door of the restaurant, which was frankly filthy dirty and smelt rank, not at all appetizing! I noticed several servers literally running around the restaurant. This made me nervous and concerned for their safety. We were seated a good ten minutes before our server came to take our drinks order, we ordered our food at the same time. It must have been another 10-15 mins before our drinks arrived and one of them was wrong, apple juice instead of berry, let it go again no big deal. We were entertained in the meantime by a fight that broke out in the kitchen between two of the servers. Watching the other people seated around us, I became increasingly concerned. I noticed two large parties who had finished eating but had plates full of food delivered to them, I can only assume they were missing from the initial order or had to be re-made. Every order that came out, at least one plate was returned to the kitchen. Two young ladies at the next table had their food delivered and never touched it, I noticed them speak to their server twice and wondered what was wrong. After the second time the server turned around and started looking through her orders. One of the young ladies raised her voice to ask "Ma'am could we please get silver wear"? Really, they had sat there all that time with their food going cold and no silver wear, despite asking twice? The couple seat on our other side for some reason requested plastic utensils, which struck me as odd. When we unwrapped our own silver wear, we discovered why, they were all dirty! Our food eventually arrived after 35-40 mins, the order was correct, although the presentation left a lot to be desired and it was barely warm. The strangest thing was the toast, how can you go wrong with toast, this I can only assume had been cooked on bake instead of broil, as it was rock hard! No drink refills, no check back to see if everything was okay. We had ordered some Pancake Puppies to nibble on as we realized our food would take a while, in our experience these usually come out first. However we never saw them on this occasion. After we had eaten and waited a while. We had to stop another server and ask if we could get our check, we asked for the Puppies to be removed. Our server came to tell us that she was still waiting on them from the kitchen. We told her it was fine and asked her to remove them from the check. I think we only saw her 4 times, when we ordered, when she brought drinks and the food and the finally when she brought the check. We then proceeded to leave the restaurant. The lobby was even more congested than when we had arrived, there were at least 6 parties in line to pay their check, really you even have to wait to pay your check? Everyone appeared to have had a bad experience, when we asked to speak with the Manager, we were told Jeff wasn't available as he was in the kitchen cooking! It must have taken 10 mins just to pay. All in all we were there over an hour and a quarter, for substandard food and terrible service that cost $63!!! I have worked in the restaurant business, I understand staff shortages and call outs. So you close half your restaurant, you tell customers arriving you are short staffed and there is a 30-45 mins wait, they have the option of waiting or leaving but they are aware. Your staff can then easily manage the customers they have and provide good service and decent food without running around the place like headless chickens and arguing among themselves. Better to have half a restaurant of happy customers that will return than a full restaurant of unhappy customers who will never set foot in your restaurant again. I'm sure the customer dissatisfaction was reflected in their tips, I know ours was. So then you have staff who were run ragged and for what? It isn't brain surgery, it is common sense. Personally I'd fire the Manager and staff and start again, after you have given the place a thorough cleaning. read more

Service is awful. Food is awful. I waited 40 minutes and my order came out wrong. When I got an omelette there was more grease on the plate than there was on a plate of fried food that was at the same table. I figured yesterday was a fluke. Bad food with hair then. Typical Denny's. Nontoxic food, unlimited coffee and good kid pleasers. As far as Denny's go this one is nice and clean with friendly if not novice staff. For an off-the-shelf menu I would have expected better execution but a lot was over cooked. Still, overall met my expectations for a highway diner. read more

I have visited this location many times in last 12 years. I am getting very disappointed with every time. I am not going back anymore. Food was horrible, had no taste. I went there for a dinner for four on may 25th 2016 around 4pm. Please find another place to eat. read more

Ate here today and will never go again. When I got there servers took forever to come. Seen a lot of ants and a roach right next to me . A lot of food and crumbs under the table. I was so disgusted didn't even finish my food . I Don't recommed this place at all. read more

Please don't go there! Customer Service is terrible. Waitress was rude and not attentive. The food was cold, partially burned and overall not tasty. I wish I would have read the reviews before I went there. I see why they have a 2 1/2 star rating. I personally would give the a "0" star rating. read more

No service for 30 minutes even for a drink and it was not busy at all. I couldn't believe it when they served 2 couples who were seated after my friends and me. I'm under the impression that they were ignoring us since we looked younger and I felt very discriminated for my age. We drove off hungry to the Waffle House near by and they SERVED us within seconds even though it was a full house and extremely busy. Never going back to Denny's ever again. read more

MAKE DENNY'S GREAT AGAIN! Our family decided to go to Denny's while on vacation. We were expecting a nice diner with many things on the menu, what we got was soggy burgers, toast, and quesadillas. Not to mention that the waitress forgot our orders many times and when we told her our food was wrong, she completely forgot about us and we had to wait along time. I had to wait 30 minutes for some quesadillas while the rest of my family "enjoyed" they're food. None of the food was good, it was either cold, soggy, or poor quality frozen food. Half of my sausage wasn't cooked, my family members chicken tenders where 80 percent breading, 20 percent chicken if that. When we asked for eggs, they gave us almost raw eggs because the whites weren't even cooked. And the corn that came with were obviously canned and had no color. When we payed, my family member went up to the waitress and told her how poor the food and service was. What did she do? She blamed corporate for giving them bad ingredients. This place has horrible service. We came on a Tuesday morning and it was far from busy. We walked in, 2 waitresses are at the computer, no one acknowledges us. They both walk away and still no one says anything to us for 5 minutes. We finally get seated by the unfriendly hostess. We sat at the table for another 7-10 minutes unhelped. This isn't the first time we've experience this here. This place needs better management and a friendlier staff and maybe even when its busy and theres a long wait, it'll be more bearable. read more

It's was horrible service. Me and my family walked in and waited 15 minutes before we saw someone to seat us. Then the person said hold on and we waited another 5 minutes. When the person came to seat us they walked up and said follow me didn't ask how many people then they threw the menus and I'm not kidding threw the menus on the table and we sit down and the table had food on it and had dirty silverware. Hat was so disgusting so we got up ourselves and moved to another table and we waited for a waitress to come and at least bring us water or ask if we want something to drink. But no we waited another 20 minutes to see if someone would come but they did not act like we were there. I would not recommend this place if you are going to go get a bite to eat and keep moving on. read more

this denny's is not good at all. my family and i went there yesterday june 3, 2018 around 1:20 pm and got horrible service. we walked up to the front desk when we got there and the hostess just motioned to a nearby table not saying anything and we asked "do you want us to sit there?" and she said yes. we went to go sit down and the chair and floor were covered in spilled food and milk. we asked her to clean it up and she did so with a wet rag and left it soaking wet so we ended up drying it all off with table napkins (chairs and floor). we sat there in the heat (did they not have AC or something) for about 6 or 7 minutes with no one coming to take our orders (keep in mind it wasn't very busy which would make it more understandable) and decided to leave. as we got up a waitress came to us and asked if we were going. we said yes and went to make our way out the door and she goes "you weren't even waiting that long" and continued to argue about it. after that we just left and went to a cracked barrel just down the street and they were the complete opposite. a warm welcome, good service, and a nice atmosphere at the cracker barrel! but the denny's was just plain bad. read more

If you have a coupon, and present your coupon from your phone to the manager at this location.....he will not accept your phone coupon and will tell you it must be printed. My wife and i have visited many Denny's restaurants for many years and each time we show a phone coupon to the manager...it is accepted by entering the digits just under the bar code into their computer system but yet the Denny's on 44111 S. US 27 in Davenport, FL will not honor your phone coupons. Just know, that there are other Denny's restaurants around Davenport, FL that do accept phone coupons as my wife and I have used them at these other locations. Obviously, this manager, on this day, was OK with a "bait and switch" tactic as my wife and I chose to eat at Denny's for the specific reason of the 20% off anniversary coupon. read more
