We were greeted fairly quick. Our arrival was late at night and it seemed that everyone had the same idea as the place filled up shortly after we arrived. Although our order was taken in short time, our meals took much too long. There were groups that arrived after us who received their order before us. We weren't there at a time where a staffing shortage should affect service. Understandably, we were there late at night when a crowd isn't too common. There didn't seem to be a consistent level of communication between staff and management. Upon arrival of our food, fries were lukewarm. The scariest part was noticing my father's salmon was half cooked! Given he's partially blind it was a good thing I caught it as he may have likely eaten most of it without noticing and could have become gravely I'll. We were comped the meal. Nonetheless, it has us deterred from returning. For most who are familiar with my reviews this is very unusual to share a poor review. We had a large party (8).. We were seated in Debbie's area but she refused to be our server. Arlene took over and was probably the best server we've had anywhere. She was on top of everything. We visited Waverly Hills and was feeling silly and laughing alot. She laughed right along with us and didn't make us feel or look stupid. The kitchen staff make this the worst Denny's around. My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday morning (we eat here once a month) and were shocked at the service. Our server was wonderful, but she was the mercy of an out of control kitchen. We ordered pancake puppies at her suggestion and waited over 20 minutes for them. The restaurant was half full but we noticed right away the loud, confrontational conversations coming from the kitchen. The pancake puppies were burned and tasted like old fry oil. We sent them back and waited as our food trickled out. My omelette had caramelized onions, but they were so black they looked like they were cooked in motor oil. I picked them out because I didn't want to wait any longer for food. Our server was very apologetic, but when she told the kitchen about it, I could hear them fight back with her. My husband's order came out on several plates, 5 or so minutes apart. We both had hash browns and they were burnt and yet uncooked at the same time. Our server offered to fix it, but again the restaurant was busier by this point and we didn't want to wait another 15-20 minutes. We were seated by the kitchen and could hear the cooks arguing with servers for mistakes coming from the kitchen. The table next to us returned several dishes, including eggs that were cooked wrong 3 times. Money is precious these days and I wont be back. No one wants to spend money on a meal that is simple but yet can't be completed without listening to servers being bullied and harassed. I heard several servers threaten to walk out! The kitchen got my order wrong and served me raw steak (I asked for med rare- and it wasn't even warm) and I hear the cook Matt be rude and snap at the waitress when she asked him politely to put it back on the grill. we were the only ones in the whole restaurant and i could hear the "cook" saying "then she's getting well done" as he's being rude asf to the waitress. the hash browns were still frozen and my egg whites were completely raw and runny as well. I'd rather eat at a gas station. The absolute worst Dennys in the United States! Why did my eggs and hash browns taste like greasy fish that had been cooked on the flattop right before my food? Hash browns were ice cold, my scrambled egg was greasy and my toasted English muffin was not toasted it warmed up and nasty fake butter was dumped on both sides. The gravy tasted like grease was added to canned gravy (). Daughter had chicken, bacon with ranch sandwich, it was definitely done! Overcooked and rubbery. Staff is super nice, however, not competent. Food took over 30 minutes. In Denny's defense, I did inform our server that my meal was awful, they removed my breakfast from the bill. If I could give zero stars I would. The waitress was judgmental/rude when someone at our table ordered decaf coffee and a kid wanting a milkshake. It's connected to Days Inn so we weren't expecting VIP, Five star quality but a few things took us over the edge. As we were leaving an employee used the restroom (if you know which one) left the bathroom without washing her hands or even using hand sanitizer. Twice over the Christmas vacation we went to this exact location, once in the morning for brunch and once in the evening for dinner. We had 11 in our party both times, and both times the restaurant was at half or less capacity. Both times were terrible experiences. For the morning one, the servers were incredibly apologetic and attentive, but about halfway to getting our order, she told us the cook walked out over being asked to make toast. This delayed the food, which most of us were fine with, but when the food came out it was cold, poorly cooked, and looked sloppy. Despite all this, we decided to give it another chance since the cook leaving could be a one-off incident; and boy was that a mistake. In the evening on a separate day, we were seated first with a nearly empty dining room, but after three more groups came in, get their drinks to the table AND their orders in did the server come to us to get our drinks. From there it was 30-40 minutes between drinks being served and despite their menu saying hot chocolate was re-fillable, the waitress came to us only one other time after giving our drinks to us. They did not bother to tell us they were out of most things until 50 minutes after putting our orders in, and when the food finally came out half of our table was cold. Not to mention she passed by our table multiple times in between these interactions and did not even bother to check on us. We tried to be patient and respectful with her as much as we could and we even felt bad because she looked like she was working hard so we all left a decent tip. But at the end of the night we were leaving and she was standing outside the front door complaining about our party, as we passed her! Fantastic experience! We are traveling though the area during Covid. As shelter-in-place order is in effect we are unable to go inside, but Debbie meet us with menus outside. We ordered by phone and the lunch was brought out, which we ate in our car. We had a fit fare skillet and club sandwich, which tasted great. She said they just got a produce delivery so a fruit side was fresh. She was very friendly and offered refills too, just a phone call away. We stay at the Days Inn her in Elizabethtown, KY quite often as our daughter and son-in-law live here. The Dennys is attached and we are always pleased with the cleanliness, food quality and good service we get here on a consistent basis. It was one of the few places open on Christmas Day and had a big crowd. Everything was handled with fast and great service with good food and a great holiday spirit.
