Me and a few friends stop here occasion only, The service is pretty Normal. Since I'm kind of a regular, the servers tell me sit anywhere. Everything is great, the servers are friendly and courteous, the atmosphere is great. My only complaint is that it takes a while for the food to come out, my cup is usually filled once or twice before our order is out. Regardless, I'd still come back, it's technically just a hangout for me and my friends. P.S. my other complaint (although not a serious one), is that the other side of the restaurant is closed; especially at night. This morning, I came into Dennys for breakfast and I am a regular customer and have been for 10-plus years. This is my first complaint against this location. After I seated myself at a booth table, I noticed a really bad odor that permeated the diner and it's the odor of stale urine. It's an odd place for anyone to take notice of this, but I did and until this matter is being taken care of, I will not step foot into an establishment that reeks of this. Ordered from Denny's for the first time for lunch today. Tried their new pumpkin pancakes grand slam and peppercorn sirloin. I asked for brown gravy on the side since I'm eating it for dinner instead of lunch. They forgot to pack the gravy...so I'm sitting here eating plain mashed potatoes ; A-1 sauce they gave me for steak doesn't work for mashed potatoes :( Peppercorn sirloin was a bit salty. Friday night boy drama is how I wound up here or else I'd be at home sleeping off the week but I was a mess, ready to explode, and needed someone to talk to. My friend Michelle R. came to my rescue, told me to calm down, and said she'd be up for talking things out. We met here about 11pm and stayed until about 2AM or so. It was the halfway point for both of us. I got breakfast and we both split an order of fries and then hashed things out over fresh hot coffee. On a Friday night I was surprised by how busy this place was. We were seated and served quickly but then our waiter disappeared and it was a chore to get him to come back for refills. Food was good, better than other locations and even my beloved Norms. They'd probably get another star if it wasn't for the lack of service. Even on that busy night I noticed a lot of wait staff around, we could have easily been taken care of. That late night reminded me of a lot of late nights spent at similar joints. It is actually a good portion to share with someone else if you have been eating and drinking throughout the night and is relatively cheap too. Otherwise, I wouldn't go to a Denny's under any other circumstance. I've been here numerous times in the past and almost every time there would be something that didn't go so perfectly. However, I think this will be the last time I come to this Denny's. I came here on New Year with my dad to have dinner. I noticed for the first time that there was an ASIAN FEMALE server. My previous observation of this place was that waiters were mainly Hispanic male, so something different I guess? Well, the female waiter had a lot to do and she did most of the work from what I noticed the whole time I was there. She took about 5 minutes to start us off with our order of drinks and another 5 minutes to to actually get our drinks out. Then we waited another ten minutes to order dinner and it was until another 15 minutes that we got our dinner. I say this was a long wait and how do I know? Well, every once in a while after talking to my dad, I would stare at the clock that hung from the ceiling. We got here at 4:15pm, but didn't eat until almost 5. You do the math! haha! But whatevers, there were only 2 servers and the waitress was pretty busy, so yeah. However, when she brought out our food, finally, she gave me the wrong side order. I asked for hash browns, she gave me mashed potatoes. My dad ordered the steak meal and asked for medium-rare, but that steak was so overdone that it was pretty entertaining watching my dad try to cut the steak in half. So, I asked for them do make another one, but my dad wanted it rare instead since their "medium-rare" was "well-done". They bought out the steak, and it was red on the outside, but still a little too cooked in the inside, so my dad wasn't very happy. OH WELL, right!? The good thing is instead of ignoring us like some employees would do after an "incident", the nice waitress came back to us a few times, asking us how our meal is going and if we needed anything, etc. Therefore, I give this place a 3/5 instead of 2, but I wouldn't come back for the food. When we first came in, there was no greeting, we seated ourselves. After that their service got better. I ordered the chicken loaded potato skillet on the 2,4,6,8 menu. It was still sizzling by the time I got done with it. I actually burnt my tongue. It was bomb. The service was surprisingly slow. They took forever to refill drinks and the waiter almost took away my plate before I finished the food. I only recommend going here after a late night out and this is the only food place open. Our waitress is Rosa, but she didn't say her name when she arrived to the table. We stopped here when Renato's and Fu Wen Loo were both closed on Mondays. We ordered the "Cali Club Sandwich" to split and upgraded to the seasoned fries, with a side of soup. Food was good and arrived quickly which was a plus for us on a lunch break. About as good as you would expect from a quality chain like Denny's. Service was fast and okay otherwise, food was good, and soup was hot. About what you ask for in a lunch break. This Denny's has it's good and bad days. 2 Stars for TODAY's experience. We had a party of 6. There was one couple further down from us...just 2 people. So all in all, 8 people to feed at Denny's. Mind you, it's a Sunday, seems like their traffic might have slowed down from morning (I never go to Denny's on Sunday mornings because of the wait to be seated). We ordered our food, and my husband ordered a salad. Although our order was right, when we got our food it was room temperature, minus the hashbrowns on my son's plate which were "warm" but not hot. I think my husband is the only one who enjoyed his tepid double cheeseburger. The rest of us thought it was just a'ight...could have been way better if it was served HOT. I've been to this Denny's as well as others (Edinger/Gothard) and my food was smoking hot. Not this time. So, then my daughter says, "Mom, this is the same Denny's [my sister] took us to and we waited 45 minutes and the food was cold. She complained." My sister swears she won't ever go there again, but it's closer to my home than the one on Edinger, so...like I said, 'it has it's days'... PS The fries don't look like the fries in the picture posted. They are thicker now and have ridges. They aren't bad, but I do like the fries they used to serve...I think next time I may just order onion rings. read more

Good Denny's. Came here for breakfast around the 7am time. It was fairly empty inside, though started to gradually fill up while we were eating and leaving, Waitress was quick and friendly. Ordered the 'Lumberjack Slam' which was well made. My companions order other meals we all cleaned our plates, so no complaints about the food. Parking lot was sizable and there were plenty of spaces during the early time we went. Worth it and absolutely no complaints. If I'm in the area again, I'd surely return. read more

I love this place. I used to live right across the block, head to mile square park in the morning and then here after for brunch. I was never disappointed. Some of the servers have changed over time, but usually there are a few familiar faces even from the 1990s, which goes to show how much they value their employees. There are two things that haven't changed here ever since I was a child - their excellent service and their top quality of their food. My favorite dish used to be the fajitas platters, but since it's a seasonal dish I usually just stick with the grand slam. :) today I am feeling a little bold, and am trying some dishes from their Hobbits menu. My wife, son and I frequent this Denny's at least a couple of times per month (usually a Saturday or Sunday) for breakfast and we have been doing so since we moved to Fountain Valley over five years ago. You get a friendly greeting every time you walk in the door and the service is always excellent. Fernando, Kenneth, and all of the other servers are really great and super friendly. It does not hurt that they are usually bringing us refills before we even ask. We usually show up early because by 9:00 AM on a weekend they are really busy, but even when they are busy they still provide great service. If the food, service, and value were not great, this Denny's would not be as busy as they are. Definitely sign up for the Denny's rewards emails. At least once a month we get a coupon emailed to us for either $5.00 off or 20% off of our check. Nice getting a discount to eat someplace that you are happy to eat at anyway. read more
