This Denny's looks great and the service is impeccable. I went here today and we were seated right away in one of the two-seat blue booths. It was really cold - felt like A/C was blowing on us. I really wanted a waffle combo. Please do not get the waffles!! It came with two small waffles and they were super dense and doughy and were gritty and grainy. They were the worst waffles I have ever had. I would be ashamed and embarrassed serving those. The coffee was great, the eggs were good, the bacon was okay, the sausage links tasted off - like they were turning. I have been to this location several times; always fast friendly service and very clean. Please fix the waffles or remove them from the menu!! I took two small bites of waffle and I could not eat them so I basically paid $17 for 2 eggs, 2 small bacon, and 2 small sausage links. Came hear on a prior visit and wasn't too impressed however I'd like to say that the young lady working New Year's Eve had the best attitude when we walked in, greeted us, got out seat ready and I must say it was one of the best experiences I've had with an employee that took care of not just myself but everyone, the drinks came out first, then the food, delicious. She was doing things as though she was in our shoes, everything from the extra napkins to the main dish itself. I haven't been to this Denny's since the remodel but it's really nice to see such a nice location here in Hayward. Their parking lot is a decent size but I'm sure it fills up entirely on Sunday mornings or Friday evenings. The tables all look very nice and the booths are very comfortable. Seems like they had plenty of seating inside to accommodate a larger crowd but I'll have to come back during a busy day to know for sure. They have a nice turf lawn out front with lawn chairs and lawn games you can really use which is cool. The host was very friendly and alert and found my party a good sized booth which fit us very well. Our drink orders were taken immediately as we sat down, and I always appreciate that. I immediately noticed updates to their menu in a good way. They added a few new items and options while still having all the classics that you know and love. Despite having done this expensive remodel they didn't remove the value menu which truly has good options for people who want to spend less money or even just have a smaller appetite. Our food came quickly but we noticed one plate was given extra bacon and missing pancakes. When we told the server, she didn't even hesitate to fix the problem. She ran to the kitchen and somehow within a minute she had the missing pancakes added to the plate. We even got to keep the extra bacon. I noticed the servers were taking orders in both Spanish and English so it's nice to see they can accommodate both. I also noticed they have two 'claw arcade machines' that were both functional and updated with new toys. Came to Denny's on Hesperian for the first time tonight. This location is beautiful. Went in at night and had the pleasure of being served by Jose. He really made our night. We were a large group (10 of us) and Jose absolutely crushed it! He was very friendly and even though they were short staffed, made sure that we all had our food in a timely manner. He is an asset to this location. I was surprised to find out that he is not a manager. I've worked the restaurant business before and he definitely has manager potential. Food came out hot and to me tasted better than I've had at my local Denny's. When back in the area, I will definitely visit again. read more

I'm only giving 2 stars for the esthetics. Inside it was clean and nice. Now let's move forward to the service. No greeting when entered fine, the lady that took me to my table. Rude. The waitress (Luz) seemed like she had a lot going on so I was trying to accommodate her by being a little bit more patient and understanding. However, when I received my check, I noticed that she had overcharged me on 2 drinks that I had sent back because the orange juice was so watered down. I wasn't willing to pay $5 a glass. When I asked her to remove them because I had sent it back, she yanked it out of my hand and when she came back to give me the new receipt, I had my hand out to grab it and she slammed it on the table. I initially left her a $10 tip on a $40 bill. Because I felt bad and she seemed busy and was doing the best. She could, but after she did that, I took that 10 dollar tip and put it back in my wallet where it belongs. You need to earn a tip correct. By the way, u service people and this service just sucked. This is my third review of this Denny's! We live nearby so it is convenient and with my 15% Chabot student discount-and their senior menu-it is super affordable. The five stars this time are for the service-Alejandro M was our server and he was terrific. Thank you Alejandro. Our order came so quickly we were shocked. BUT...I ordered a waffle...and THAT was a mistake. This is a plea to Denny's management at this location and across the country. PLEASE take waffles OFF YOUR MENU unless they can be made fresh. This "waffle" was clearly frozen and either cooked in a microwave or a toaster. It was absolutely inedible. I mentioned this to staff and they said yes, the waffles....are not the best. Stick to what you do well, Denny's and don't have WAFFLES on your menu unless they can be cooked in a waffle iron! I had been craving a fresh waffle for a while, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This was literally like a piece of tough cardboard so it was really disappointing. It was flat out embarrassing to have something like that put on a plate. I should have sent it back but didn't want to bother our waiter with it who was already super busy and doing an amazing job even though there were only two servers working the entire restaurant. My husband shared his French toast with me so I didn't go hungry. One other message to management; please find a way to clean out the coffee carafes if you are going to serve hot tea in them. I am very disappointed in the service . We have been patronizing Dennys for over 40 years. I always order pancakes with warm syrup. They always accommodate my requests to have the syrup warmed. However, for the first time in over 40 years, our server said she could not do this for me. I would never have stopped at this location had I known! I will definitely never come back. Service is poor. Food comes out undercooked and greasy. A silver fish (bug) climbed across our table. Servers are not knowledgable of the menu or trained in being a server. After giving this location several opportunities for change, they've completely missed the mark each time. I wasn't a big fan of Denny's to begin with, but was hopeful that this would be a great location because it's brand new and competing with Black Bear. One of the nicest looking Denny's around. Fully remodeled and very inviting. Party lights and lounge chairs up front set the fun, positive mood. Fully remodeled and clean. Wow the Chabot college students across the street are in luck. They can choose between this place or the Blackbear diner practically next door. How convenient to jump across the street for a lunch beak for something decent. Fresh and crisp. Fully remodeled from top to bottom. It could possibly be a new build from the ground up - I'm not familiar with what this could have been before if anything. Party lights over green turf and lounge chairs. If you have little kids or goofy friends they will enjoy hanging up front for a bit. Some people might not think of Denny's for their good food... but I like it. Tends to be fresh and brought out quickly by diligent young energetic servers. This location is no different. Prices are better than elsewhere and who doesn't like a good value. Sometimes I think of a sad holiday movie where two people are eating at a Denny's on Chritmas. Was it that movie Bad Santa? But I'd like to point out that its incredible that you can count on Denny's to be open on most holidays so that we can have this option. Sometimes sweating over the stove is a bit overrated - I personally would look forward to coming here to celebrate any holiday. If I had to have one criticism I'd have to say the only thing I could complain about is its too clean... yeah thats right. The hubby and I came in late for pancakes and coffee. Since it's a new facility, the decor is pretty awesome. We were not sure who are server was at first, but after about 15 minutes we were helped. We ordered then waiting for another 20 minutes. When the pancakes finally arrived, we had to tell the server we needed syrup, extra napkins, and coffee refills. The parking lot could be bigger, and my wife had to be careful not to run two goofballs over when we arrived (they were seated at the other end of the room, but the older man was so loud that it was easy to hear him). We were promptly seated (we were even asked if the particular booth that we were brought to was okay). Then, after we ordered, all of our food was brought to us within 4 minutes. There are 3 rooms, but the restaurant is still on the small side (we were in the main room, which seats about 50). It was bright inside because the blinds were all up (Celia's was dark inside because the blinds were constantly down). The restrooms are right by the entrance. Our server was friendly and quick, but she didn't hear me when I ordered my meal (I wanted ham, but I received 2 orders of sausage crumbles). We also received our bill too soon (she did the same thing with another table). Telling us that there was no hurry didn't make me feel better about it (I thought that her shift had ended, but that was not the case- my wife left a solid tip). A few months ago, I asked for hot water during my meal. I noticed that the Hot water tasted like pool water. I mentioned this to my server. I asked him to try the. Hot water for himself. I doubt seriously if he ever took me up on this. This is why I am not motivated to come back to Dennys. My simple request is to use "Filtered water" for your hot water. Water should not have a taste. I decided to order food since I had a 3 hour commute home. Placed an order for Moons over my hammy with fries, a side of ranch and ketchup. Maybe 20 minutes into my drive, I decided to eat. First of all, I will like start by saying that last night I was with our group of work at this location, and we were told by the manager Maria Diaz to get out of the restaurant for complaining of the bad service. And not only that I had to get my own silverware to our table. It was extremely disappointed by the manager's behavior because she also went out to the parking lot to take a picture of my car because she thought I didn't have my handicap sign on my dash. I also recorded her on my phone of her actions. Been here has been the worse experience ever with all my work group that we face with a manager of a restaurant. It is very sad that we had coming on many occasions and every time Maria was there, she has been always with an attitude. We tried to also talked to the waiters in the restaurant and it seems that they all afraid of Maria.
