Had breakfast here this morning. Got here at about 8:30 AM, so obviously it was not busy. There were only four of us, and I asked for two modifications to my order (well-done hashbrowns and French toast instead of pancakes), and it was as though I had asked for the Taj Mahal to be presented to our table. The server Karen's demeanor completely changed, and it was all downhill from there. My hashbrowns were barely even COOKED, my eggs were cold, and the rest of the meal just did not please me. The waitress tried, she really did. Very sweet girl. However... I waited a good 6 minutes before anyone acknowledged I walked in. I ordered coffee and didn't receive it until after my meal arrived and it was never refilled. The food was meh. A rather small, crunchy portion of hash browns compared to other breakfast joints. My over easy eggs still had uncooked eggs whites. I think the sausage was the best part of my meal, sadly. The table, floor and booth just felt really sticky like someone forgot to ring out their rag when cleaning. Wait: Walked into the restraunt and waited for approximately a total of 2 minutes before being seated. The table I was to be seated at was dirty but cleaned prior to me taking a seat. Staff: The hostess was kind and polite. She did her job and checked up on myself and other customers frequently enough to be good service. Food Wait: I ordered a coffee, Supreme Skillet and a side of 2 pancakes. The coffee was brought to me immediately. The food took exactly 7 minutes for myself to get. Food Taste: The Skillet was a bit on the oily side. Potatoes had no flavour, the sausage tasted good the egg was fine. The pancakes were good. Overall the food was anywhere from Good to Decent. My review is not based on food or service but first impressions and if I could I would have gave them a zero... first time at that restaurant. We walked in and the smell was so nasty!!! This location is hit or miss, at best. I grew up in Killeen and this particular Denny's has been here for a very long time. Needless to say, I've been here a lot. Way more than I would like. And, only because my mother enjoys coming here (bless her heart). Out of all the times I've been here, there has been only a few rare occasions where the service was great and the food kinda matched. The rest of the time, well.. to put it kindly, it sucked. I'm referring to the service, mediocre meals, and the long wait for your food. The worst experience was when I came with a group of 6-people. It took about 20 min for the waitress to even acknowledge our existence. Finally, she took our drink order and we waited for another 15 min, still no drinks. We never even had the chance to order our food yet and she was nowhere to be found. Some of my guests complained to the manager, but it was futile. So, we grabbed our belongings and drove to the IHOP nearby. Our wait time was nowhere near what we experienced at Denny's. I've noticed that it doesn't matter if this place is crowded or not. You're going to wait at least 20-40 min for your food to be ready. So if you're in a hurry, try your best to avoid coming here. But, if you don't mind the wait, bring something or someone to help pass the time. read more

Would like to give them a zero. Always messing up orders. Prior to having delivery service. Worst now. If you order $60.00 worth of food for your family dinner. You end up with a single person's food. Then you have to go back through Uber to get your money back. Getting your money back is not satisfactory when you still didn't accomplish feeding your family. Dennys is too careless with Uber deliveries. Maybe they should just close down. They don't have great reviews. I arrived at Dennys at around 9PM. There were only four or five other tables filled, the place was pretty dead. Our waitress Mica told us we could sit wherever we liked and asked us for our drink order. I wanted to order the $2 one stack of pancakes but the $2,4,6,8 menu was nowhere to be found. Luckily Mica was nice enough to say she would be able to work something out for me so I could have just the pancakes. Our food came out relatively quickly and Mica informed us that the $2 stack of pancakes was still on the menu. The restaurant itself is very clean, they vacuum regularly -- another employee was vacuuming the other half of the dining area where we ate which was a little weird but I suppose they have to do what they have to do. It didn't bother us at all and the vacuum wasn't all that loud anyway so my boyfriend and I could still have a conversation without raising our voices. Honestly, I should have left before I ordered. I won't be going back and I recommend you don't go either. We walked in and were greeted by a smell that is oddly reminiscent of urine and mold. The place is dark and damp, with moisture clinging to everything. No surface was clean and the staff just seemed resigned to the fact that it wasn't going to get any better. Let's just get down to it. The good: I'm hard-pressed here. Normally I can find something good about anywhere I go. I feel a bit bad saying this but there isn't one redeeming quality here. The bad: Let's start with the basics. Floor is dirty, our table was sticky, the walls were grimy, the silverware wasn't in good shape, the staff need a bit of organization training, the menu was sticky and had food particles on it, then we ordered. The glasses have large chips in the rim and mine had a crack. My husband had the bourbon bacon burger with fries. It was decent but over cooked. I had the fish and fries with macaroni and cheese. The oil used to fry the fish was old and the fish came out over-cooked and greasy. The mac&cheese was actually gritty and mushy, which is amazingly gross. The sweet tea had gone bad and had a whang. The skinny: Skip it. You deserve better, as did I. My money is hard-earned and they haven't proven deserving of any more than I have already wasted on them. Want a review in a nutshell? Great food but SLOW, GHETTO, SMELLY, and RUDE service. The carpet smells like mildew and smoke. I can imagine this carpet hasn't been changed for well over a decade before the "No smoking in buildings" law ever came into effect here. The 2 out of 3 times I've been here my server has been slow, unconcerned, ghetto, and rude. Only once did I have a welcoming server and still...her service was slow. The servers just DON'T CARE. They don't care about you. They don't care about their service. They don't care about their company. The last visit I had with this place, graveyard shift at the beginning of August, the server decided to share a story about how she got "fucked up" last night. She then proceeded to grab my friends phone from the table, after she received a text from her husband, read the text, and tell her she needs to text him back. I watched her sit at a groups table just talking and cursing and laughing it up while she failed to bring certain things we asked for, for our food. Finally I asked for our check and she said "Ok be right back" and THAT took 15 MINUTES just for her to tell me "Oh just go to the register". DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE DURING THE NIGHT, NEVER!!! There were fights and police cops guarding the building...it was ridiculous. Even going during the day is questionable. For a Sunday morning, the service was excellent. Actually, for almost any time of the week, the service was excellent. A few problems with the food though: cold pancakes and cold syrup (hot syrup was advertised in the description on the menu), floppy, greasy bacon (typical for restaurants) so I'd recommend ordering your bacon "crispy" (and probably your hash browns too) if that's how you like it. I'm normally not a huge fan of Denny's. It's kind of one of those places you expect to hit up when you're on the road with your family, but I have to admit, this place isn't half bad. It's about what you'd expect from Denny's, but in comparison to IHOP, this place is fantastic! I've never had to worry about a wait when I've been here, even during high-traffic times. I think the longest wait we've had is 5-10 minutes, which isn't bad at all. Even with large groups, they've had as at a table almost as quickly as they could push some tables together for us. The service here has almost always been wonderful. The food was always brought quick. The servers have always been on top of refills, and check in frequently to see how their tables are doing. We've had a number of different servers that crack jokes with the group or are happy to chat with us for a minute if they're not busy. It adds to a very personal feel to the establishment, like their staff actually cares about their job, and their customers. There was one time where I felt like I was being judged by my waitress because all the other tables around us were getting some pretty rapid service, but my table was all but ignored. We ordered cheaply and definitely looked like the kinds of people who wouldn't tip well, nor would have a lot of money. In truth we didn't order a big meal because neither of us were really hungry, we just wanted a quiet place to sit down and talk. However, that's the only time I've ever had a problem with the service. The food is about average. I hate to say it, but it's Denny's, so what can you expect. It's not going to be super high quality, but for the price, it's decent. There have been a few times where the food isn't exactly great, but more often than not it's not worth complaining about, and they take complaints seriously and are more than willing to fix it if you do say something. The atmosphere is nice, especially considering the area. The whole place has always been very clean, even the bathrooms. Even when they're busy, the whole place is still pretty quiet. They do a really good job of seating louder groups that will probably be more rowdy in their own area so they won't bother the other customers, which is wonderful. The lighting is a little dimmer than what I'm used to in Denny's, which makes the place stand out as a little less of a dive and a bit more your average casual dining restaurant. Well, it is Denny's but our first visit here was less than top notch. One of the things they had advertised on the window (a cheesy egg thing) was apparently not available. All our server would say was "we're out". I asked "Which are you out of; eggs or cheese?" It took another server to explain that there's a special sauce they were missing for the dish. I read the reviews and knew what I was getting myself into going there. I had a small bit of "oh maybe they're not so bad" optimism but that was quickly dimished as I walked in... The smell was not of brunch but of body odor and grease. It was mid morning of a Sunday. It was busy with the mix of the church crowd & those who looked like they were recovering from a rough night. We stood in the small room that connected the lobby and the oitside entrance. It was our only relief from the smell without having to stand outside. It was brief as our party of 3 was quickly seated in the corner with a window view of the parking lot. Our waitress took our drink orders. I ordered the lemonade tea (which after a lot of clarification was the only "flavored tea" they had). When it arrived there was a red stringy substance in there. It almost resembled a blood clot. Needless to say I sent it back and ordered water. The pancake puppies we ordered arrived and they looked burnt. However, after biting into them we found they were still doughy in the middle. I dissected one to show our waitress it was still raw and she gladly took them back for another order. I was a bit skeptical but the next batch came out fine. Our main meals were a disappointment. The chicken fried steak was burnt and greasy. It was covered in a gelatinous glob that was the country gravy. The mashed potatoes looked waxy. The Super Bird was dry and wasn't anything like the picture. The Santa Fe skillet was outrageously greasy. That was sound like an exaggeration but it really isn't. I could cook an entirely new skillet with the grease that accumulated in my skillet. I could blame the fact that chorizo is naturally greasy but if that's the case Dennys should account for the extra grease in some way. I couldn't wait to get out of there. The smell for some reason was really dominant in the area we sat in. We overheard the other family comment on the smell as well. We looked over with the understanding nod as to say, "Yeah, we smell it too". We made our way to the counter to pay and realized the lemonade tea I sent back was still on the ticket. In passing we saw our waitress and she yelled over to the girl at the register to removed the tea. She seemed flustered and you could tell it was hectic for her. We asked for a plastic bag for the plate I didn't really want to take home but we paid for it- and I hate to waste- and she semi-apologetically said they were out and tried to justify the bag we had seen being handed to another customer was one that wasn't supposed to handed out (????). My husband and I decided to have a nice breakfast out this morning and well when we got there it smelled weird like idk what it was but it was like musty, then when we got our food my scrambled eggs were under cooked and since I'm pregnant I can't eat it. Then my husband got banana crepes to share with me and well after we got them they were out of bananas so it was just chocolate and when we opened the crepe it had avocado chunks in it when it wasn't supposed to and I'm allergic to avocado. After we talked to the front desk the waitress said oh well they weren't for you anyway which was really rude because we were going to share them and then they still charged us for both crepes the bad ones and the second ones they sent out to us.
