This place is dirty and not kept clean very unorganized they act like they just don't care

It sucks when you're a tourist and are driving around looking for a place that is open to have breakfast. Yes, I need a GPS something. Santa Claus, make note of it please!! Anyway, we drove around and found this Denny's...food was oblahhhh, it took like 45 minutes of waiting at our table for someone to come and take our order..they weren't that busy, but our waitress told me people called in sick and she was the only waitress for the whole restaurant. We felt really bad for her so we tipped her well, but everything just sucked. read more

In June we sopped there for lunch and was served by Jaden, his service was excellent and very helpful with suggestions on what to order. Our order was perfect. Upon leaving we had a gift card we wanted to use for part of the bill but somehow the system double charged my credit card. When I realized the error I contacted the manager Dana Duran and told her about the situation. She said it was probably a system glitch and was very helpful and understanding said she would do something about it. I received a $100 gift card which more than made up for what was charged. Dana went out of her way and above and beyond to make sure that we were compensated .. Denny's has a fan for life and we will be eating there now and in the future. read more

Wow... talk about bad service! And bad cooking! This Denny's is awful! When we got there they where packed and we had to wait for a seat. No biggie. But when they finally seat us... they seat us at a table for 2 that was empty and clean the entire time we where waiting. Kinda lame. Then we order. Then we wait for 25 minutes. Without our glasses of water. So when we see our waitress bring another table seated far after us water. We ask for our water. Then she brings our smoothies and orange juice... and then finally our water. And right after that the food server guy brings our food. As he is putting our order on the table I notice this little bowl of chopped up sausage. I asked him what is this. He says I don't know what it is, I think they chopped up your sausage. I said no, I want the 4 sausages that I ordered. He went and got it right away. We also asked for extra krispy hash browns... not even krispy. No jam at our table. And my omelette was not an omelette. They cook the ham, cook the egg separately. Then fold the ham in the fully cooked egg. And then cover it with some cheese slices. SKIP THIS PLACE... I've eaten here 3 times so far because it's been the only place open very early in the morning. Ordinarily I find some some consistency in Dennys restaurants . Not so here. First, the place smells bad-really bad! I believe the floors are only superficially cleaned. Also breakfasts are very greasy like they use to much oil or shortening. I could go on but this location has some serious work to do to meet Dennys standards. I recommend the parent company take a hard look at the operation. read more

I was going deep-sea fishing yesterday morning stopped at Denny's at about 4:15 in the morning. The absolute worst breakfast I've ever had in my life. Service was great, the gentleman working the counter and hosting was also serving our table and he did an excellent job. The quality of food was part the cook and part the Denny's corp I would imagine. I ordered an all American grand slam and substituted the scrambled eggs with eggs over medium and ask for extra crispy hashbrowns. The hash browns were almost burnt, The eggs were blistered and brown from being fried too long, one of the yokes was completely solid. I don't know how but the food scientists at the Denny's corporation made another breakthrough and managed to figure out a way to slice bacon so thin it literally was the thickness of a sheet of paper. The link sausage was not much bigger than a tootsie roll. 3 stars because the service was great but 0 stars for the food. Next time I need a 24 hr restaurant in Monterey I'll just go hungry. read more

This is by far the worst Dennys i have ever ever been to. There are many workers running all over the place and they dont even look at you. You could wait 30 minutes at the counter and no one would say a word to you or look at you. They are THE RUDEST STAFF . This was the worse place I have ever been. I was here for vacation from Sacramento and wanted something to eat before I go home. We put our name on the list to be seated and the lady skipped over our name. When my wife said something to her. She pointed to where we could sit. But the lady seated three others people and gave them menus and when my wife said what about us. The lady gave us a mean looked and walked off. Where do I start?? I checked in and was told only 2 people ahead of me. As I watched 2 others come after me but were seated before me, so I went back up to host and someone crossed off my name without calling it! So she sat me and my husband, but as were waiting for at least 15 min. No one came to take our order so my husband got the other hosts attention and he took our order. We really didn't know who our waiter/waitress was?? The host brought us everything.. my husband once again went up to make sure someone brought our food and he the host brought it to us. I have lived in Monterey for a very long time. I have also been going to this Dennys for many years, however, I have not been to this Denny for a while. My how things have changed!!! The waitresses that were there had been there for years! I knew most of them by name! I walked in and the guy who was the host could not of been nicer and got my coffee and water right away. Dennys was less then half full, but it a waitress a Half hour to come to my table. I didn't say anything but I did have questions about the breakfast menu. This is when she started to get really snippy and didn't have time for my questions. There was also a reverse ethnic situation. I'm W she M and so was everyone else that worked there along with 90% of the patrons. It was also interesting that there was so many people who had birthdays! (Dennys gives away a free breakfast on there birthday) I'm truly not prejudice, but something is just wrong at this Dennys and needs to be fixed! read more

It was nearly 10 pm, I was staying at a motel nearby, and because my earlier dinner made me ill, I was hungry and dehydrated. I used their new online pickup order. I ordered a salad and two beverages - they'd be ready at in 20 minutes at 10:05. Great! But here it is, 10:25, I'm sitting here still waiting for my order. A salad, a milkshake, and a smoothie. I see that they're understaffed so that needs to be addressed. I don't blame the crew - management should deal with this so customers (not just me - food was piling up, just not mine...) don't all end up waiting and waiting. The extra bummer is that online I preemptively tipped... Then they come out and tell, after a half hour wait, they can't make smoothies or milkshakes tonight. We love going to Denny's! For one, it's inexpensive. Two, it's family friendly. And three, the staff is nice (most of them). It gets us out of the house with the enticing thought of not having to cook or clean up our own mess which is important with now two kids. We usually order off the 2, 4, 6, 8 menu to keep it cheap and simple. If you sign up for their membership club with providing your email from time to time you get coupons which makes it even cheaper. Mauro is by far the nicest staff member. If we see him around we always ask to sit in his section and will even wait a little longer to do so. So, keep in mind that it's still a Denny's at the end of the day. You get what you pay for. read more

Places like this make me wish there was a zero star option. Horribly slow service, took 10 minutes to get the waitress to even ask us what we wanted to drink and another 5 to get our water. My over medium order of eggs was so runny I'm surprised they could legally sell it (fingers crossed I don't end up with salmonella). Once we finished our water it was another 10 minutes just to get a refill. When we were finally ready to pay, the man who met us at the counter didn't make eye contact or say a single word to us, he just pointed at the credit card machine and walked away. I know that this is dennys, and I don't expect 5 star service every time, but this was pretty horrible. First time in my life I didn't leave a tip. read more

Hey! Finally dine-in is back! We decided on a fluke, to go to Denny's and have a sit to eat. We decided on burgers. Their menu is just a small one, and it was after 1 p.m, almost had breakfast (should have had it) but decided on lunch. We both ordered bacon cheeseburgers. I know, I know, we could have gone to a fast food drive through, but we are tired of eating in our car, and we like a good burger. Well, thats not what we got. We got burgers that were barely lukewarm, on buns that fell apart in our hands and an "all American" sauce we didn't even taste. I ordered onion rings with my burger, which were good and HOT!? Hubby got fries, which were also good and HOT!? What happened to the HOT burgers?? And for the onion rings, I ordered ranch for dipping. The ranch was so thin and soupy, had NO flavor, and was just plain disgusting. I guess being shut down all this time with no customers to sit in, made this restaurant a total miss...Not worth what we paid. Should have gone to Black Bear, like we originally thought of going. Yeah, I know, it's only a burger you may say. But when you are paying good money that is hard to come by sometime, you just want a good hot meal. Would not recommend this location. First impression super busy and the wait for seating is going to be long. Then walks up I think might be the Manager to assure us all the wait will be a few mins. I was skeptical. Place is dirty..floor had plastic forks on the floor ...napkins..needs to cleaned. Employees talking to each other and not paying attention to customers. Waited for someone to help one of the girls "cashing out" said to me that someone would be right with me. Waited and waited as again employees talking to each other. Killer Strawberry Shakes... seriously... really up there... I'm not a fan of ice cream nor do I have shakes often but these are up there. The 3 of us shared two as well as 2 Grand Slams (with a double order each of bacon and sausage) and later the 3rd ordered a Club sando and asked what the difference between white bread and sourdough was... I told him one was sour. I'm hoping he was being sarcastic. Our server was pretty awesome, mellow guy, patient and cool but we weren't a rowdy obnoxious drunk crowd (surprisingly no one was tonight) and we left at midnight. Tried to say thank you to our server but couldn't see or find him when we left and just hope he gets are above average tip. We stopped in tonight because Chong's closed a few minutes earlier and we were bummed because we wanted to share a Tsing Tao but oh well... we spent a memorable hour or two there taking care of business, taking calls, writing documents etc... as we worked as a team to come up with ideas to promote World Peace. read more

My thoughts exactly when asking for my meal and being told there was no more eggs at 8:30am.. "marvelous, it doesn't matter I came here meaningful conversation with the waiter" the F#*K YOU MEAN u have no more eggs! This is Denny's.. Aside from that I couldn't help but notice my surroundings! I don't know what was more distracting, the pile of dust mixed with dead flies and lady bugs on the window seal next to me, or the fact that I seen a family get seated at the table next to me that was just filled with trash and not wiped down before they sat. Excellent service and much better food than other so-called high-end restaurants. Our family was on a vacation and we were staying as Casa Munras, which is literally across the street. On the first day, we went to an 'organic' restaurant, right next to Denny's, recommended by the hotel concierge. However, it turned out to be a disaster. The service was horrendous, and I witnessed some unsanitary events happening in the kitchen. Even the pricey hotel restaurants offered crappy service. So on the second day, we visited Denny's for breakfast. As soon as we walked in, they greeted us with a smile and the waitress was very attentive. Even food was better than these other expensive places. I was especially impressed with our waitress who was quick and extremely intuitive. We made sure to tip her a little extra to show her our appreciation. She was just a gem especially after consecutive horrible experiences. read more

My husband placed a pick up order. We got a new cheese omelet and a new super slam. We were excited to have all of this food to share between the 3 of us. The omelet...the cheese wasn't melted and was even still cold. It was just slices of cheese. They also forgot my husband's turkey bacon. They weren't very friendly when we arrived, and they assured us "everything is in the bag!" Disgusting unorganized staff. Very RUDE!!! Our waitress avoided us, even when we told her we were ready to order. Then, without warning, she clocked out and left. I only saw one waitress working. Understaffed? The busboy pretended he couldn't speak English when we asked for the manager. Later we found out the manager is cooking all the food. Ive never seen so many people neglected. I watched 3 girls seated next to us, who just had water leave because no one was there to wait on them. Another table adjacent to us left without touching 90% of their food. The gentleman at that table locked eyes with me and shook his head in disgust as he walked up to the cash register. Had breakfast here today and the food was great. If you are looking for pancakes, eggs, hash browns, bacon, omelets, and coffee this is a good place to go with a family. Prices were good and our server, Thomas was excellent. He was friendly, super upbeat, efficient, and made sure we had refills for the road. Host and cashier were also quick and friendly. Pretty much one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long while. We had breakfast at Denny's, which should be pretty hard for them to mess up. It wasn't. We were seated and then received no service. We finally grabbed a passing server and asked for our server to stop by. Another nearby table also waited a very long time; they stopped a server and asked, "Are you our server?" She said "no" and walked away! My wife's eggs were runny and cold. She was afraid to eat them because they didn't seem cooked. My omelet was cooked but cold by the time it was delivered. Near the end of the meal, a strange man walked in and started following and harassing the servers, but no one asked him to leave or intervened. A manager had been present earlier in the meal, but he was pretty much ignoring the front of the house and chatting up the staff. I suspect he saw the guy--who seemed like a regular--and beelined to the kitchen to avoid the man, leaving his crew and patrons to deal with the annoyance. One woman at a nearby table actually returned her toast. I have no idea what was wrong with it, but this incident pretty much typified the inept breakfast experience at this Denny's. I don't expect much from a Denny's, but this one really disappointed. read more
