Stop by for dinner takeout on my way home. Wow, they've updated their menu and lots of new choices for dinner. I choose the turkey dinner and pumpkin pie because I had the flu for Thanksgiving and missed the holiday meal. It was very good with stuffing, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. I remember this Dennys being a great location. Unfortunately my last visit ruined that. Cold breakfast and every item came out seperately, undercooked hashbrowns, untoasted toast, old and sour ranch with appetizers, and an unfriendly waitress. That about sums up my last experience. Waitress didn't even care about how bad it was and when she was told she took a few dollar off the large bill and would not come back to the table. This was the absolute worst dining experience I have ever had at ANY Denny's(Kearny Villa Road off the 163). Normally is my favorite go to place. Horrible customer service from server. Had to ask for refills, straw, in addition to a unfriendly attitude, downright rude--waited forever and no one came by not once until I finally got up and went to the counter. The food was cold--the pancakes...never saw anything as bad as that--thin, burnt on one side, and tough as cardboard. Simply awful. Ruined our get dining get together. This Denny's service is such a joke. I rarely write bad reviews and I definitely don't expect 5 star service from Denny's either but this place was awful!! I cant even say anything about the food because we were sitting around waiting more than 20 minutes to even get seated (it was just me and my boyfriend). It was not full AT ALL, there were maybe 3 tables with people and we were completely ignored after they asked if it was just us two. How hard is it to seat two people? Especially since more than half the tables were empty. There was a server standing at the register for several minutes who didn't even look at us so we left and went to a different Denny's. Came to Denny's for some milkshakes and let me tell you, Noosh hands down makes the best milkshakes. The only thing sweeter than them was her demeanor towards us. She made us feel very welcomed. I don't very often frequent Denny's, but this was an exception due to the holiday and late night cravings. The food was nothing to call home about, but it was satisfying enough, and the price point was great, of course, which is well known. What was extraordinary about this particular experience was the customer service, it was beyond exceptional. I think her name was Tiana or maybe Tania from Brazil she was just over-the-top, friendly and hospitable, especially with my children and this was just the crème de la crème. And it's not like it was a very slow night where she had no customers to tend to. I observed that she was very nice to everybody and it just was so nice to see that she would go out of her way to make sure patrons had a good experience and I wish to see more of this in the world today. What can I say.. .it's Denny's. The place was pretty empty at 5 AM on a Friday morning so seating was not a problem. The waitress was nice and the food for the money was a pretty good deal. I had the Lumberjack which had 3 meats, toast, 2 eggs and pancakes. I could hardly eat it all. Service was fast and friendly. I just hate how "dated" the restaurants are but it served a purpose. Omg I absolutely love this Denny's!!! I work the late shift so this is my favorite spot to come to for some of my favorite dishes like the T-bone and eggs or the bourbon burger . I especially love the late shift staff. Karen is normally the waitress working when I come in and when she sees me she always greets me with a smile and pretty much automatically knows what I'm gonna want to order!!! I had breakfast there this morning giving them a second chance after having breakfast there two weeks ago. Simple order grandslam scramble eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, wheat toast. Eggs dry and looked like they had been sitting on the grill for most of the morning. I ordered bacon instead of sausage got 3 pieces of half pieces of bacon instead of 4... toast that had been sitting for so long that it couldn't melt the butter. They were not that busy... the cooks had competing loud music playing that made for a loud environment. The ownership is clearly absent and the inmates are running the place. It will be a long time, if ever before i go back... i've been go there for breakfast on the weekends for years. My mom and I went to Denny's yesterday while waiting for my dad to get out of surgery. Our Server was Andrea. She made our experience there the best I have ever had at any restaurant. She was attentive, incredibly kind, and funny. She made us feel like we were at our own house. She definitely made my mom feel better about our dad's surgery as well. Since Mr. Covid's pandemic retreated sufficiently to permit resumption of indoor dinning, I've periodically had as early dinner after work at the Denney's on Kearny Villa Road. Initially, both the service and the food left something to be desired; seemingly qalified workers were scarce. During the past few months both the food and the servers have become excellent. The Samon and Chicken Breast Dinners are expecially well prepared. And an energetic grayhaired server named Nooshi is expecially attentive to the customers' needs. I've been here maybe only twice in the last few years. They recently remodeled this Denny's location and it looks nice and metropolitan inside. I came in the middle of the night of Friday with my friend because we were starving. There weren't that many people dining here when we came but LORD HAVE MERCY it took 5EVER for our food to come out. I looked at the time I checked in and it was 45 minutes before they brought out my French toast and his burger... I have no idea what was taking so long. The server was super nice though and I know the food taking long wasn't his fault. He even gave me a refill on iced coffee when it doesn't come with it. My friends and I came here on a weekday to study for our finals because we didn't think people would actually study at a Denny's. We were greeted when we entered and were seated right away. My friends and I decided to order food before we started studying. There are no outlets here for you to plug your laptop in and there is also no wifi. Just a heads up, in case you want to start studying at Denny's. :) I got the ' build-your-own grand slam ' with eggs (sunny side up), hash browns, sausage links, and bacon. Everything was delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly but I didn't like the sausage links. They tasted kinda funny like you can tell they've been in the freezer, thawed out, to be microwaved. It was not really appetizing. My friends seem to enjoy their food a lot though so that's good. Our server was super friendly and came by to refill our waters often. After we were done eating, our plates were cleared and I ordered hot chocolate to accompany me while I was studying. I love how on each mug that they bring out have a different quote on it. I really like reading the different quotes! We were studying there for a good 2 hours and the manager came by to check on us every hour. He didn't mind that we were studying and he said that we can stay as long as we wanted to. He even refilled my hot chocolate because it was getting cold. The manager is super friendly, nice, and very accommodating. You rock! During our study session, I noticed that a homeless man had came in. The manager offered the man some hot water and he sat in the back behind us. I thought that it was a really nice and sweet gesture. It's true, not all Denny's are created equal. This Denny's has a much better atmosphere. The severs are sweet and attentive. The food had actual flavor. There wasn't a pool of oil on the plate underneath the hash browns. The customers all seemed happy and enjoying their meals. The food was incredibly fast and was hot when it arrived. The place settings where complete and the condiment caddie was not sticky or dusty. The parking was easy and not complicated. The steaks where juicy and tender. There was no foul Oder of dirty grease traps. I had such a horrible experience at the Denny's at 2222 Coronado Blvd near IB. That I promised myself I wouldn't ever eat at Denny's again. Even though the waitress looked at me like I had a third head when all I wanted was two eggs and a small side of hash browns. Though the food came out very quickly, my eggs were a tad on the too done side. Hash brows were perfect! The restrooms were very clean and attended to, which is a big deal!
