Been to this Denny's location a few times. The food is Denny's food-- they're not reinventing the wheel here or anything, but decent stuff for late nights! A few months back, I came here with a relatively large group and we were seated quickly and had fantastic service. The waitress (I believe her name was Nicole!) was very engaged and patient in taking our orders-- couldn't ask for any better, especially with a larger group. Came here again tonight with a much smaller group of four, and had a very different experience. Our waitress was extremely flippant toward us from the get-go. My boyfriend had ordered a bacon brownie sundae, and when the food came out, she delivered the bacon maple sundae. We noted that he had ordered the bacon brownie sundae, not the maple one (which comes in a glass). She decided that it would be a good idea to disagree with all four of us, and tell us, "No. He ordered the bacon maple sundae. I wrote it down." Oh, excuse us. Clearly, all four of us got it wrong. Regardless, he asked for a new one, and when that came out, she quite noticeably placed down the other items we had ordered nicely and then SLAMMED the brownie sundae in the middle of the table and walked away without saying anything. She came around again to fill the tables' waters at one point and filled up everyone else's glass except mine, which was nearly empty. I think she might've been irritated with me since I was the most vocal when she started to argue with us about the sundae earlier. I wish the other waitress had been working tonight rather than this particular one. Bad deal, Denny's. Last Saturday, my wife and I stopped into your San Dimas location around 11 AM. We bypassed Red Robin and Applebee's because we wanted breakfast fare. We ordered our dishes. The wait was a little long but the place was busy so that was understandable. The waiter (Kenta N) brought my dish and began to walk away. I called him back and asked where my wife's food was. He said it was coming. I explained that we wanted to eat together and if I waited my food would be cold. He said it would be ready soon, not to worry, it was coming. I explained that was not acceptable. He looked displeased and walked away and returned shortly with my wife's dish. He then asked if we needed anything else. I said yes, I believe my dish included pancakes. He said they'd be up shortly. I said I needed them now and that I wished to see the manager. He walked away and came back with my pancakes and said the manager was cooking the kitchen. I asked for syrup and offered to go into the kitchen to speak with the manager. The waiter left and returned with the manager and syrup. The syrup was in a bottle with a pour spout. Almost no syrup came out when turned over. I complained to the manager about the shoddy service and the syrup. He apologized for the service but said that corporate mandated the syrup bottles that did not work. He said they used to use small pitchers that worked better but corporate insisted on the new bottles. I have worked in hospitality for many years. The spouts on your syrup bottles appear to be identical to liquor pourers. They should have worked but probably became clogged because they were never cleaned. Overall, the in store management was both uncaring and clueless. Your company spends untold sums of money on new décor themes and innovative new dishes, none of which mean a thing if your staff views service as a nuisance. However, the attitude of the servers and managers at the store level reflect on upper management. read more

My mother-in-law was craving an omelete at 4pm and so we drove up to the front door to place an order to go. Little did we know that would be the biggest mistake ever. There was a gentleman seated at a TV tray table at the door to prevent you from entering to order. He handed us a 2 page photocopy of their "menu" and asked what we would like. He even toted on about how you can order regular groceries from their restaurant now.Our order was simple... one ham and cheese omelete (only), a Double cheeseburger (no tomato) with seasoned fries, a large order of Cheddar tots (with 2 sides of sour cream), and a large order of Blueberry pancake puppies (with 2 sides of icing). We received our order promptly and left to head home. The ONLY part of our order to come correct was the Blueberry pancake puppies with 2 icings. The "Cheddar" tots came smothered in spicy nacho cheese sauce, after I specifically made sure to say I didn't want anything spicy, the omelete was dry as a bone with no cheddar cheese to be seen, and the burger came with 2 slices of tomato when we specifically requested none. Also no condiments were included for the burger - no mustard, no mayo, no ketchup... all it had was nasty thousand island dressing already applied. i am not sure what to attribute this atrocity of an order too... new hired cook? The Coronavirus? The order taker? All I know is will not patronize this location again until I can eat inside and make sure my order is how I want it... now how I had to begrudgingly had to take it and pay $43 for the priviledge of food we could not even eat. What a waste!!! And why in the world would I want to buy groceries from a location that can't even get a plate of fried hashbrown balls right? I was just charged $2.59 x 2 for carbonated water. Not pellegrino or Perrier water, it was just simple carbonated water from their soda machine. What kind of nickel and diming sh*t is this? I understand if you want to charge me a small fee for having to use carbonation for plain water but to charge me for a price of a full soda??? Went yesterday evening did not get seated as no one came to greet us for several minutes. We decided to seat ourselves. The waiters seemed very over worked & busy. Not sure if there was a manager on duty. We waited a while for our order to be taken. We did not order much. We ordered 2 teas which we sent back because they tasted like ash trays. We then get the 2 orders of buffalo wings but no buffalo sauce just the fried chicken. The waiter then said they ran out of buffalo sauce. We were super excited to eat buffalo wings because it is one of our favorite items to eat at Denny's. We declined different sauce. We tried to give this Denny's another shot given the last time we came we were served frozen sausage & burnt toast then told all their food comes precooked, so it's safe to eat the pork frozen, not much has changed. It was my first time here, but will definitely be my last! I visited this Denny's 2 days ago because it was conveniently located by the Gymboree Play + Music gym that my baby goes to, and decided to have breakfast. Big mistake! The interior was outdated, and they were very poorly staffed. 2 waiters, 1 acting manager who was hiding in the office until my incident (will elaborate later), and 1 chef whom needed everything translated to him in Spanish by one of the waitress. They were quick to seat me, but I had to wait forever for them to take my order. The one star was for how quick my order came out. I was done within 30 minutes, and the waiter was quick to hand me my check. He went straight to assist me at the register. I pretty much had my hands full because my very active baby was running around so I was chasing after her. I handed my credit card to my server but right away he handed me my reciept and said "you forgot to put a tip", and handed me the receipt. The total for the entree was about $10, and I put down a $2 tip, and signed the receipt. He then handed me my receipt, and since my baby was running off, I stuffed the copy of the reciept in my purse and just rushed out. About 10 minutes later, while I got to the play gym, I was fumbling around for something in my purse and found my receipt - That idiot overcharged me about more than $20!!!! I work in retail and I know there may be times you accidently add an extra number before or after the total by mistake...but the all the numbers charged were completely different than my original $12 total - he even added the $2 as tip. I was sooo mad and dragged my baby back to Denny's to confront him. He saw me and he somehow looked embarrassed...and I explained to him what happened. Instead of apologizing or even speaking a single word (like telling me to wait while he look into it), he proceeded to look all throughout the cash drawer for the signed receipt...which he couldn't find. Really?!?! I was just there 10 minutes before and my signed copy of the merchant copy of the receipt just magically disappeared. He then just walked off and went to get the manager....they both pretended they had found my receipt, or my order...but I knew they didn't because he asked the waiter what I ordered so they could charge me correctly. They even had the nerve to put in the $2.00 tip in there. FINALLY, the manager offered a quick apology but the whole time, the waiter never said a word to me and acted like I was the one who was at fault that he tried to charge me for more and thought he could get away with it and not notice it because I was busy with the baby when he charged my card. Simply Awful! The "Night Manager" needs to be fired for leaving staff without the ability to refund customers when they make a mistake. I had a employee tell me they couldn't fill my order, which I had already pay for, and then expected me to accept this outcome and leave the premises without a refund. The current manager is either taking advantage of current staff by not given them the ability to do their jobs, or he/she is pretending to be work taking advantage of absence upper management. I went to this Denny's on a Sunday at 8:15AM. I expected slow service because of the usual Sunday morning crowd, but this time it took WAY longer than expected. My waitress was in charge of about 4-5 tables including mine and whenever she walked by I could hear heavy breathing as if she had been running for minutes straight. We (party of 7) sat down and did not order drinks until 20 minutes had passed. I didn't notice the time much because of the company with me, but we had been there an hour and a half. I would like to know why "curbside" means come inside and pick up your food? I ordered online selected curbside. I was then asked to enter the make,model, and color of my car. I pulled up and parked. I called the number on the sign that says reserved for curbside. The woman on the phone told me oh no you come inside and hung up. I think it is very misleading and the customer service was very poor. I have worked customer service for over 5 years and don't snap at people on the phone. I am not one to usually complain but this place was BAD. So, at first it took forever to get us a table, which was because they were short staffed I'm assuming? It was 1 AM. I don't know. Then our food took forever and we were trying to be patient but when we asked our waiter he said the chefs had been taking long all night and when our food had finally gotten there (after 40 minutes) our pancakes were burned, that's all I ordered, PANCAKES. I took my family for breakfast today at Denny's and ordered the grand slam special for $6.99. I asked to substitute pancakes for toast, however, they said that was not allowed. So basically two orders of pancakes for our grand slam went to waste. Literally to the trash! Because they would not substitute. Very disappointing customer service. Wasted food while children are starving in the world. Just yesterday I had my car serviced at Toyota and they honored an expired coupon for $150 while Denny's would not substitute toast for pancakes! I am a server at Denny's and I know the POS system and when you order a slugger you're able to change the drinks to something else if you aren't feeling a coffee. She probably thinks I don't know that......two guys at a table next to me ordered two well done T - Bone steaks and here I am 15 minutes shy of an hour waiting for mine and my boyfriend's breakfast... There's nothing lower then one star , visited this Denny's and it was disgusting. Very dirty, whole pieces of food under the table we were going to be sat at, when I pointed it out the hostess sat us at a different table. We placed our drink order. While waiting I glanced towards their counter section, In disbelief I watched the manager or person in charge bandage a cooks thumb, I don't know what the severity of the injury was but I watched her bandage his wound and he went right back into the kitchen to flip pancakes, and how do I know this, like I said in disbelief of what had just happened I got up from my seat to see where the injured Person had gone. This Denny's is close to my knew home and every time we come here, they seem to be partially busy. They also seem to be under staffed as to let food collect at expo line! When we have ordered it took 30 minutes and than there's other customers that ordered after you did and they get there food faster! Waited 5 minutes to be seated, 10 mins to put in our order, and 31 mins to get our food (I used a timer to get an exact number after waiting so long for the other things). I had given our server the benefit of the doubt being the only one working the floor but she had no ambition to hustle and kept disappearing. There were 5 other tables in the dining area who equally received this poor service. Because I wanted this particular food, I decided to wait it out instead of leaving. When the food arrived, she tried to tell me they didn't have the dipping sauce I wanted which almost sent me over the edge. She at least said she would double check, did, and then gave me the sauce I wanted. Usually I can use another sauce but after waiting 46 minutes, I was in no mood to not have the food exactly how I wanted it. The food was good but service was horrible.
