If you're not ready to order the minute they come, be ready to wait at least another 20-30 minutes for someone to come check up on you. I have currently been waiting 25 minutes for someone to come ask me for my order. I'm not gonna call anyone or anything. Its never busy in here and all of the workers can see me. Once I got a coffee cup with lipstick all over it and the waitress (some older lady that always works at night) tried to convince me it was mine. Like.. I wasn't even wearing lipstick. I am going to begin this by stating that I am not a frequenter of Denny's. However, when it is 3 in the morning and I have just driven 100 miles to see some cute little lights strung up over someone's patio ... Denny's just seems like a totally reasonable place to end the night (especially when everyone is dressed to the nines ala Gossip Girl). We head into the establishment and I am struck by the fact that somewhere between 1 and 3 AM, San Dimas turns into a pretty trashy little town. It takes everything in my being not to pass judgment (something I truly love to do) on the patrons -but these people must have a fear of shampoo and combs because the looks they were sporting were something fierce. Also, when did it become acceptable for 16 year old kids to stay out till 3 AM eating pancakes and drinking milkshakes ... not in my day that's for sure. After we roll into our booth and the waitress drops off our menus I realize that this whole experience is going downhill very quickly. 1. We are sitting in an empty room away from all the other tables. Usually I like to be as far away from others as possible while I am eating, but somehow in this particular Denny's, I couldn't help but feel like our distance from the rest of civilization was only going to mean poor service. 2. We are sitting with our backs facing the door. I have seen enough B-Rated movies ("Meat Train" anyone?) to know that you never sit with your back facing the door...how will I be able to see danger coming and get out of the way thus leaving Doreenda to fight her own battles directly in harm's way? After spending about 20 minutes perusing the menus (not because we wanted to, that's just how long it took the waitress to walk back over to our section in Siberia) we all decided on what to order. My biggest concern was getting a huge glass of Sprite (You know how I feel about Sprite. It's as close to water as you can get in a drink that's not water.) because I was parched. We also got a milkshake, some chicken strips, two plates of cheese fries and some other assorted "food" items to be shared amongst us. The food eventually came (after the waitress blamed the slow service on the manager -totally a cop out if you ask me. Take responsibility for your work lady!) and things went from bad to worse. I do not know how you can screw up fries, but this Denny's sure did. I can't comment on any of the other items that were ordered because I was too scared to try them after the debacle with the fries ... at least the Sprite was on point, but I knew Coca Cola wouldn't let me down on that one. The waitress came back with the check and then my worst nightmare came to fruition. The check had to be divided. I honestly don't know why I associate with people who cannot figure out how to divide a bill without busting out scientific calculators to make sure that they don't pay one penny more than they should. After a 10 minute round of "How much do I owe?" we finally worked our way up to the cash register to pay the bill. The aforementioned waitress was pulling double duty that night and was also manning the register. I stayed clear of her so as not to be around when she blamed the slow register on the bus boy and quickly found my way to the exit (perfect hair and all). read more

Bad service by YESEINA, she never checked up on us. I was waited by another person for coffee. And here goes the piece of the pie, I had to get up and ask for Salsa for my dish, I had to serve myself. I turned my head about 20 times to try and get her attention!! After twenty minutes of sitting AT THE BAR and a word with the relatively new manager, Vanessa, we finally got our order in. We then hear the manager say, directly behind us and without a hint of discreet, "I'm closing the restaurant. The cooks don't want to work. They're tired so I'm going to send them home. I'm not dealing with this BS." We still got our food in about five minutes, so maybe the cooks tried a bit harder to prove themselves. This visit deserves one star. BUT our waitress, Susan, alone was worth two stars. She great about apologizing for the wait and took our order speedily. She was very cheerful in spite of an obviously stressful situation. She brought the check with the food and continued to apologise for the wait and thank us for our patience. She even bussed our table and covered half the restaurant while the rest of the wait staff was nonchalantly working on one or two tables and chatting with each other. My friend and I visited on a Friday night. There was hardly anyone there and now I know why! We started out with the mozzarella sticks and that was the best part of our meal. I wanted something like a biscuit breakfast sandwich and I recall having something near that at Denny's in the past. I asked the waitress and she said the entire menu has changed since they reopened. Let me tell you how long it's been since I've had Denny's; I didn't even know they ever closed! So no more $2, $4, $6 menu. My friend wanted a grilled chicken dinner, but didn't see one on the menu (although they have grilled chicken available on their sizzler skillets). She inquired if she could substitute the meat and our waitress said, 'No, if it's not on the menu they don't have any way to ring it up. They can't just make up the prices.' I was prepared to go across the street to Applebee's and I really wish we had. Dissatisfied with our waitress' answer, my friend inquired with another waitress who gave the proper, "Let me check with my manager" answer. This waitress returned and advised they could do it, but everything would be priced ala carte. If you're interested in trying, the price for a grilled chicken dinner is $15.50; two dollars more than the beef... My friend gave the go ahead. I had the chicken fried chicken. The entrée itself was ok; I wasn't expecting "Applebee's quality". BUT the broccoli had a bit of a funky taste, which I recognize as not fresh. The zucchini/squash mix looked good, but had no taste whatsoever. My friend asked me how my white gravy was and my reply was, "It's just gravy..." She had me taste the brown gravy that came on her mashed potatoes; it was like water with a light onion taste, bleh. She also mentioned that her garlic bread had a funny taste. I took a bite and...you know how bread smells right before it goes bad and starts growing mold? It tasted like that. I decided to order dessert and we had the pizookie like thing. I was expecting the cookie to be warm, but it wasn't :-( and I thought the menu said there was "molten chocolate" inside, but there wasn't :-( . The bill for all of this came up to $46! I came here with my dance team after a performance so it was like 1AM and they were still very accommodating despite the late hour. On top of that, some drunk/crazy man was harassing us and the waitresses promptly made him get his food to go and she apologized for the hassle he brought us. Kudos to you. Worst. Service. Ever. My server was Libby. I don't think she's waited tables in a "real" restaurant before. Denny's doesn't count - I know that seems harsh, but I have RARELY had good service here. Everyone seems to treat their job as if they are an order taker, not a server. There's a difference. When I came in, I was greeted and sat by Libby. Originally I was sat underneath an a/c unit, and the place was cold as an icicle, so I moved a few tables over. I'd had a very long day and needed some time to decompress, so I placed my drink order, and then asked for a few more minutes because I had not looked at the menu yet (decompressing, thinking, processing, etc). Libby smiled and said, "Sure". I didn't see her for about 9-10 minutes after that. Finally, she was taking the order at a table nearby, and she stopped by my table, and I placed an order for the half-sized nachos. I know, I know. Why am I getting nachos at Denny's? Because they are probably the best nachos I've ever had. No kidding. My nachos took quite awhile to come up, and the table which ordered directly before me got their food a good 6-7 minutes before I did - full entrees. Yes, they ordered before me, but she didn't ring in their food before coming to my table. She took their order, and then took my order - so I would assume she placed our orders together. Finally, after about 15 minutes, my small order of nachos was delivered to my table. Apparently at this restaurant people don't run each others' food. Glad to know everyone has a sense of teamwork (sarcasm). How do I know this? Because after my first bite, it was obvious these had been sitting in the window for awhile - the chips were chewy, and the meat and melted cheese were both lukewarm. I didn't say anything though, because I had waited so long for my food, I was hungry, and just wanted to eat. To her credit, she did ask if I wanted a refill. Although, a REAL server wouldn't have asked. She would have just brought it out when it was half empty not after it had been sitting empty on the edge of the table for 10 minutes. When I placed my order for the nachos, I told Libby I was going to possibly order more food later, so she left the menu with me. Not once did she check on me to see if my food was okay, or to see if I needed anything else - like a refill (which I needed), or extra napkins (which I needed). Sure, I could have flagged someone down for a refill, or found some napkins myself, but that isn't my job. As a customer, I sit in the booth, order food, and get waited on. In return, I give the server a tip. The problem with service in California is servers are making minimum wage + tips. Which means, even if they do absolutely NOTHING, they are still guaranteed minimum wage. Clearly, that is not enough to live on, but in most states, servers make $2.13/hr, plus tips. And they have to claim their tips. And they have to tip out bussers, bartenders, and sometimes the host staff. Which means, they know how to actually WORK for their tips. After sitting at my table with an empty drink, and no food for about 15 minutes, I decided to leave. I hadn't seen my server in over 20-25 minutes, and I just wanted to get out of there. So I went to the front to pay, and explained to the other server what happened. My meal and drink came to about $8.00, and I left a $2.00 tip. Yes, I tipped. Because it was the right thing to do. Because I didn't want my server to think I was spiteful. When I got home, I called the store and spoke with Dawn, the Manager on duty. She listened to my story, and apologized, and then told me she would gladly replace my nachos for free the next time I came in. The thing is, it wasn't about the nachos. I had actually forgotten the nachos were sub-par. I was more concerned about the lack of service. I wasn't the only table affected. When I left, I noticed Libby's other tables were looking around, wondering where she was. Maybe she went on break, or lunch. A responsible server would have checked up on all her tables FIRST, and then notified each table she was going to go on break, and introduced another server near her section so if her tables had any questions, concerns, or needs, they would know who to ask. Actually, a real server would have waited until the rush had died down, or she didn't have any tables, because waiting on customers is their JOB. Last time I checked, it is because of customers like myself that servers have jobs. A real server would always be cognizant of that, and thankful they have a job. A good server can make $$ no matter where they work. It's all about being polite to your tables, anticipating their needs, and being ready when they need you. A good server won't hover, but will keep a mindful eye on all her tables, so when they see someone start to look around, they can be at the table in a heartbeat. But I didn't have a good server tonight. read more

So reviewing a Dennys may seem weird but when you're in San Dimas and have only fast food options, Denny is a great pic. I am a trainer and health nut so finding healthy food was a little difficult in this part of Cali. Denny was clutch. It has an awesome fit fare menu. Simple, clean, and affordable. Shoot eating healthy can be expensive. I order the Grand Slam and got double egg whites, wheat pancakes, and chicken sausage. Total calories for this meal is 488 and the macros are decent. Yes I said macros on Yelp. (told you that I am a health nut). Service at this location was quick. My sister and I cam Saturday morning during the "brunch" rush and only waited 5 minutes for a table. I eat here often and the service is great when I go to dine in but I am leaving only 2 stars because every weekend (Friday and Saturday) a young female employee NEVER answers the phone. I once called seven times and ended up driving there to see what was going on. Sure enough, it was her-walking around the place IGNORING the phone. It was a very loud ringing phone and my boyfriend even went in and recorded her walking around as the phone was ringing. I asked why no one answered and she shrugged and said, "Oh I don't know, sometimes the calls don't go through." Absolute worst customer service.. We stopped at this Denny's on our way from my house in Palm Desert to my parents house in Calabasas. Both times we've been in the service has been excellent and the food is better than I would've expected. The pancakes were light and fluffy with tons of blueberries. I mean tons! The eggs were cooked great -the bacon too. Denny's has certainly upgraded since the last time I was in one years ago. The service is also outstanding. Gone downhill. Every Saturday night for a year straight I have been coming here. After this certain waitress quit, the service has just been shotty. Tonight we came in and were told to wait, when there were clearly open and available seats all around. Soy friend went to go put our name in and the "acting manager" couldn't even spell my friends name and asked him to write it. It's a simple name that you can sound out. Doesn't matter how you spell it really. Eventually we asked one waitress if we can pick a booth (sure it may not be right but under the circumstances.. And we are regulars for years) and got our drinks right away. However, the waitress came by after and told us the manager told her that she was not to serve us till this other party was all taken care of. We sat there for half an hour till one member of our party left then 10 minutes later another member left. We watched new people come In and sit down and get served. Then 20 minutes later my last party member got up and left. Never have we had such poor service. This isn't the first time we have had such poor service either. Been times where it seems that we have been ignored or have had food come extremely late and there wouldn't be anyone in here. Very disappointing. And to top it off, we/I constantly hear them bad mouth he customers when they think they have left, just like tonight. Finally, being that my break is limited, I walked up to the chitchatting waitresses and requested to order. The waitress made sure to rush the order which was nice. Food was decent.. Now to the checkout.. I ordered the new side dish.. Red potatoes with cheese and bacon.. And a side of eggs. She never said it would be an issue until it was time to pay. I was charged separately for each item.. Including cheese. When I questioned her she claimed that you can't order that particular side without being up charged. My two sides rang out at $17. Christmas Eve and it's not busy but it's been ran like a mad house. Messed up orders poor customer service.

Last Saturday, my wife and I stopped into your San Dimas location around 11 AM. We bypassed Red Robin and Applebee's because we wanted breakfast fare. We ordered our dishes. The wait was a little long but the place was busy so that was understandable. The waiter (Kenta N) brought my dish and began to walk away. I called him back and asked where my wife's food was. He said it was coming. I explained that we wanted to eat together and if I waited my food would be cold. He said it would be ready soon, not to worry, it was coming. I explained that was not acceptable. He looked displeased and walked away and returned shortly with my wife's dish. He then asked if we needed anything else. I said yes, I believe my dish included pancakes. He said they'd be up shortly. I said I needed them now and that I wished to see the manager. He walked away and came back with my pancakes and said the manager was cooking the kitchen. I asked for syrup and offered to go into the kitchen to speak with the manager. The waiter left and returned with the manager and syrup. The syrup was in a bottle with a pour spout. Almost no syrup came out when turned over. I complained to the manager about the shoddy service and the syrup. He apologized for the service but said that corporate mandated the syrup bottles that did not work. He said they used to use small pitchers that worked better but corporate insisted on the new bottles. I have worked in hospitality for many years. The spouts on your syrup bottles appear to be identical to liquor pourers. They should have worked but probably became clogged because they were never cleaned. Overall, the in store management was both uncaring and clueless. Your company spends untold sums of money on new décor themes and innovative new dishes, none of which mean a thing if your staff views service as a nuisance. However, the attitude of the servers and managers at the store level reflect on upper management. read more

Been to this Denny's location a few times. The food is Denny's food-- they're not reinventing the wheel here or anything, but decent stuff for late nights! A few months back, I came here with a relatively large group and we were seated quickly and had fantastic service. The waitress (I believe her name was Nicole!) was very engaged and patient in taking our orders-- couldn't ask for any better, especially with a larger group. Came here again tonight with a much smaller group of four, and had a very different experience. Our waitress was extremely flippant toward us from the get-go. My boyfriend had ordered a bacon brownie sundae, and when the food came out, she delivered the bacon maple sundae. We noted that he had ordered the bacon brownie sundae, not the maple one (which comes in a glass). She decided that it would be a good idea to disagree with all four of us, and tell us, "No. He ordered the bacon maple sundae. I wrote it down." Oh, excuse us. Clearly, all four of us got it wrong. Regardless, he asked for a new one, and when that came out, she quite noticeably placed down the other items we had ordered nicely and then SLAMMED the brownie sundae in the middle of the table and walked away without saying anything. She came around again to fill the tables' waters at one point and filled up everyone else's glass except mine, which was nearly empty. I think she might've been irritated with me since I was the most vocal when she started to argue with us about the sundae earlier. I wish the other waitress had been working tonight rather than this particular one. Bad deal, Denny's. But the three stars is pretty much all for the saving grace of the service we had gotten the previous time! read more

It was anorexic, at best, when compared to the picture. The kids pizza was served cold. When this was brought up to the server, we witnessed it was put in the microwave until it was petrified pizza. My mother-in-law was craving an omelete at 4pm and so we drove up to the front door to place an order to go. Little did we know that would be the biggest mistake ever. There was a gentleman seated at a TV tray table at the door to prevent you from entering to order. He handed us a 2 page photocopy of their "menu" and asked what we would like. He even toted on about how you can order regular groceries from their restaurant now.Our order was simple... one ham and cheese omelete (only), a Double cheeseburger (no tomato) with seasoned fries, a large order of Cheddar tots (with 2 sides of sour cream), and a large order of Blueberry pancake puppies (with 2 sides of icing). We received our order promptly and left to head home. The ONLY part of our order to come correct was the Blueberry pancake puppies with 2 icings. The "Cheddar" tots came smothered in spicy nacho cheese sauce, after I specifically made sure to say I didn't want anything spicy, the omelete was dry as a bone with no cheddar cheese to be seen, and the burger came with 2 slices of tomato when we specifically requested none. Also no condiments were included for the burger - no mustard, no mayo, no ketchup... all it had was nasty thousand island dressing already applied. i am not sure what to attribute this atrocity of an order too... new hired cook? The Coronavirus? The order taker? All I know is will not patronize this location again until I can eat inside and make sure my order is how I want it... now how I had to begrudgingly had to take it and pay $43 for the priviledge of food we could not even eat. What a waste!!! And why in the world would I want to buy groceries from a location that can't even get a plate of fried hashbrown balls right? I was just charged $2.59 x 2 for carbonated water. Not pellegrino or Perrier water, it was just simple carbonated water from their soda machine. What kind of nickel and diming sh*t is this? I understand if you want to charge me a small fee for having to use carbonation for plain water but to charge me for a price of a full soda??? Went yesterday evening did not get seated as no one came to greet us for several minutes. We decided to seat ourselves. The waiters seemed very over worked & busy. Not sure if there was a manager on duty. We waited a while for our order to be taken. We did not order much. We ordered 2 teas which we sent back because they tasted like ash trays. The manager Vanessa made the experience awful. The food was good our waiter Kenta was wonderful. If Vanessa had chosen to seat us when we 1st got there it probably would've been better. I am done coming to this location. Everything I come here they are out of some thing. Every time. From their desserts to their ice coffee. They are out of it. The pancakes are never cooked all the way through and coffee is burnt. The only good thing is that the fruit is fresh. read more
