Since my last review, I've been here twice. The quality of food and service has significantly downgraded. I in no way, shape, or form recommended this place anymore. My burger was so sour tasting, my fries were so full of grease that they were extremely crunchy. Nothing tasted good and it was hard to wave down the server. Been to Denny's all over the country. This one makes excellent breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly in my opinion. Got both scrambled eggs and eggs over medium. Both were cooked the way I like the. The service was really good even though they were short staffed. They had some rude patrons when I was in there but the waiter handled it professionally. Aghhh... Denny's. Your food is always hit or miss but service is usually decent. We usually go to the one on Foster Road where the service is beyond amazing. However, today we ventured over to Schertz and decided to eat at this one. The food was pretty good as usual. You're not going to Denny's for gourmet food. Cheap, yummy breakfast is their winning bet. However, the service at this Denny's was absolutely awful. We were seated quickly. Party of 3 including my 6 year old. We preferred a booth and they sat us on the side with the Shell gas station. Then we were forgotten about. They got our drink orders within 10 minutes of being seated. Not too terribly shabby. Then we weren't approached again for 30-40 minutes when from across the room a waitress asked "has anyone taken yalls order yet?!" We told her that they hadn't and she came to take our order. The kiddo ordered a kids meal with corn from the pictures on the menu and we had grand slam and a build your own omelette or something similar. We then heard from no one again for 30+ minutes. Both adult glasses had been empty for quite awhile and I had to get up and ask someone to fill my water. They came to the table, grabbed my glass, asked no one else (my spouse) about refills, and brought my glass back telling me it was wet on the sides, sorry, and set it down and left. Our food arrived 10-20 minutes later. They served my 6 year old "southwestern cream corn" Have you ever had a 6 year old? That clearly wouldn't work when she ordered regular cut corn. So, we let them know and apparently they "don't serve cut corn anymore because of the holidays and the sw corn." She got bananas instead, problem fixed. We didn't hear from anyone else for another 20+ minutes so we finished our food and went to find someone that could get us our ticket since we had no waiter. I asked to speak to a manager (no I don't have the haircut) and let her know about us not even being assigned a waiter and our problems. I suggested a additional training or something and she took $5 off my bill. We were at Denny's for 2 hours and actually ate for about 25 minutes. Long-story point: Customer service was less than satisfactory, food was normal, I won't be back to this location. read more

This Denny's is one of the best ones I have been to. My family and I came on Sunday it was like a family in there. They all worked very well together it was awesome to watch. The food was great service was great and the place was very clean. Thank you for making our family breakfast a wonderful experience. Clearly the previous manager is no longer in charge here. This restaurant used to deliver hot food quickly with friendly service. At any time of the day, busy or not. Today, is a different story. We waited 30 minutes for cold food. I asked for coffee refill twice, but only received it after another waitress brought it. No cream for coffee. Didn't check on us until after the meal. The service has changed. The food is good, but cold. And you will wait a long time for it. There is another Denny location off of 35 and Topperwein that is usually very good. And one in New Braunfels that has amazing waffles. But, I would avoid this location for a while until the new manager and staff get into the swing of things. read more

Waitress: Barbi at Shertz's Denny Restaurant off I-35 made our stop for lunch so enjoyable. Stopped in about 3 :30 pm and at that time restaurant was quiet But here came Barbi .... welcoming us, joyous voice and atttentive. Our order was perfect and very good. My husband and I walked in at 10:45PM along with a party of 4. The only other patrons was a party of 6 that had already placed their order. We were both seated and our orders taken (my husband and the party of 4). Long story short - 1 hour and 15 minutes later, the party of 4 has eaten and are departing. My husband and I have yet to receive our food. We understand them being under staffed. We anticipated a wait because of that. However, a party twice as large, that arrived at the exact same time, orders at the exact same time - received and finishes their meal and we are still waiting. read more

The Denny's off I 35 - Near exit 3009 in Schertz, Texas on Christmas Eve is where I went. The staff was more than lovely, polite and clearly working very hard. I had just come from not one but 4 other places in town all who either would not even address a customer nor would they take orders and had people waiting. It was nice to see Denny's people patiently waiting but being assisted and getting some quality food, with good service. My hats off to the chef. I have had my bf bring me food from there from time to time for morning and evenings and they are always above beyond good food wise. Even he loves their service. Hats off to you all!!! read more

Happy Holiday shout out to one of the BEST servers I have ever had in the hospitality industry! Savannah @ the Schertz Denny's is wonderful! She greeted us with such a joyful welcome from the moment we walked in. She settled us at our table and immediately got everyone their drinks. She made recommendations where needed and checked in on us frequently. I was amazed at watching her spread her JOY to all her other tables too! In this BUSY season where everyone is rushed, Savannah (Vanna) delivers an EXCEPTIONAL dining experience to all her customers- a true blessing any time of year, especially during the holiday season. There's two things I care about the most when going into any restaurant. Service and the quality of food. Trust me when I say, this particular Denny's checked off both boxes! The level of service was impeccable. I seriously felt like the staff was all about me. From the lady at the front to sit me down, to the server that helped with selection, to the manager asking TWICE how my meal was. This Denny's is absolute trash. Customer service is complete a****** everyone who works there is a degenerate. Tried talking to a manager but she was "cooking on the grill" lol.. I ordered for curbside pick up, took 45 mins, waited an additional 10 mins outside. Went inside for another 15 mins waiting for my food since they don't actually have curbside. Messed up half of my order, and completely forgot a meal so I had to go back inside for the 3rd time. Hopefully I don't get COVID-19 since there was 100 people inside within touching distance of each other. Complete and utter disgust having to go inside with all these people when I ordered for curbside. I can't believe I even tipped for this.. I wouldn't recommend supporting this Denny's. Pandemic or not, if you're selling a service. Provide that service or don't be open at all. COVID-19 is NOT an excuse for poor customer service, business service, etc etc.. read more

The franchise owner of this specific location should cut their losses and save some money by closing down. It's pretty embarrassing to walk into this location on a peak day in the morning and being ignored by 3 separate hostesses at the front desk before finally being addressed by a fourth admitting that we won't be seated for 30-50 minutes, and that was just to seat us, not serve us. She continued to admit that they were short staffed which is why she couldn't tel us how long before we actually would get food. After learning all this, it explained the large group of people waiting next to us getting restless. So, if this franchise owner cannot keep a stable workforce on their busiest day that could likely be rectified by paying them a better wage, then just close down and save us all customers the time we wasted expecting a minimum amount of service. read more

Hey its Denny's and its hit and miss if you expect perfect. Food is solid and predictable, Service varies with staff tenure and how many people just walked in. Overall my two visits were very very good. They even have different strengths/roasts of coffee to choose from which I really liked because the coffee used to be to weak. this Denny's used to be subpar however it is fantastic Now! The people working there are great, management is on top of things & keeping things moving along. Long trip from three days of driving, couldn't check into our hotel yet so we grabbed breakfast here. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Inside is very clean and cool from the heat n humidity outside. . Nice escape. Bathrooms were super clean always a plus Food is what to be expected, it's Dennys. .. but good fresh n hot. Coffee was always kept full, we needed it! Only down fall, the jelly... only strawberry or grape? ? Open the veriaty there, come on, bring in the orange marmalade, or something :) Sabrina; you are off to a great start, you have a friendly smile and wonderful attitude and very tentative to ur customers. Well the service was slow at first and not prepared. We even were given the wrong check. After awhile the manager came around and greeted everyone which was nice. This is not our first choice but we were waiting for car so had breakfast here. The food was okay. Used my AARP card for discount so that helped. read more

This place is excellent. The manager came by at least 2 times to check on me and they have a knack for making the hash browns just the right amount of crispness. The French toast had nice crisp edges and fully cooked the middle without being overdone. I drive right past another Denny's in Live Oak to get to this newly remodeled one. The $4 value option of biscuits and gravy just seems like a really good deal. These guys are always fast even when it's lunchtime and the place is jostling with business. read more

I made a grubhub order and as soon as the hour wait time was up, the order was cancelled without reasoning. Called the place and was told they never got an order for takeout, and that I had the wrong place (repeated it when I told them the address on the app was the same as theirs). I even tried to make a second order, which was cancelled at the last minute again. read more
