Such a truly fulfilling meal we enjoyed at the Waffle House on N West Shore Blvd. The all star special had everything I could ask for and more. Bacon, hash browns, toast with grape jelly, scrambled eggs & a blueberry waffle really hit the spot. The customer service was top notch. Very kind and attentive customer service was on display the entire visit. The cheesteak melt was very delicious as the steak was seasoned to perfection along with a sizzling temperature. I love the Waffle House! I was staying a couple hundred feet away and ventured to the Waffle House for breakfast. I had the All-Star and the entire meal was on point (waffle, eggs over medium, hash browns, and sausage). Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and very efficient. There are going to be bagels at my staff meeting here in Tampa but I don't eat bagels when I'm on my keto diet so I stopped at the Waffle House to load up on protein and not be tempted by carbs. Quiet on a Tuesday morning, but a full crew and a few very regulars who came in and ordered their usuals. Friendly folks. I had a Fiesta omelet with whole wheat toast (only ate one slice) and coffee. Waffle House has been around for as long as I can remember. It's always consistent and not too many changes. Also, breakfast for dinner is always good. I usually get the All Star Special because it's very affordable and get a lot of food. Normally, I get scrambled eggs, wheat toast, grits, bacon, a waffle and orange. Sometimes, I usually save the waffle for the next day. Lately, Waffle House has not been staying open for 24 hours due to staffing shortage. Go when you know it's open. On the way to the airport the morning after many flight cancelations. I filled up the rental car with gas at the Wawa on Mabry, and drove to this Waffle House. Inside dining opens at 6AM, earlier it's take out through the window, but food is available 24 hours. This location: the food is consistent with other WH's , it always is. The parking lot is small and tight, and, as it was around 6, had some late night crowd eating in their cars. TRAVELERS' ADVICE: It was great to start a tough travel day with long airport lines and plenty of unhappy travelers with a full belly and an hour earlier than normal. read more

I always enjoy stopping at Waffle House for breakfast when I travel. As a singlez person, I sit at the counter and watch the entertainment all around me, from the camaraderie among the folks cooking, to the variety of customers. Today, I visited this WH, close to home. I was surprised to find it nearly empty at lunchtime. I ordered my usual: black coffee, 3 eggs over easy, wheat toast (no margarine), grits and a side of tomatoes. Everything came promptly and just as I ordered. It was tasty as always. Coffee just ok as always, but plenty of refills if you wish. WH is no longer a low cost provider for breakfast. 2 egg Breakfast 7.50, extra egg, 1.50, egg surcharge @ .50 each, 1.50, tomatoes 3.00, coffee 4.00, (maybe tomatoes 4 and coffee 3 but I couldn't tell from the bill), tax, and 3.00 tip. I love Waffle House! I live in California so I only get to eat at Waffle House when I'm out of the state. I went to this location and received GREAT service from the staff (they even gave me a Waffle House hat). I ordered the Texas Bacon Cheesesteak Melt (hold the onions) with hash browns and a chocolate chip waffle. The meal was wonderful. The coffee I had was GREAT as was the orange juice. The price is right (very low). People are kind. Food was yummy. Go if you can for some greasy breakfast food. read more

It seems that Waffle House has forgotten that they are waffle House. They are the OG of the greasy spoon restaurant. Although the food was good and the service was good I paid $30 for two orders of hash browns ,one bacon egg and cheese sandwich and one plain waffle and one sweet tea, oh, and by the way, they tried to charge me six dollars for the sweet tea until I called them out on it. The total bill came to $25 and change after they took three dollars off(3.00 for a sweet tea.) so with the tip it was a total of $30 absolutely ridiculous! I will go to a step up from Waffle House restaurant from here on out which has cheaper prices. Oh and by the way, if you think you're gonna save a dollar by ordering it by phone and picking it up, they charge 20% more just like a tip and then they give some BS explanation why they do this. by the way, the CEO of Waffle House is worth $1.7 billion. read more

Five stars all day long in my book ! Don't get these where I'm from so when in town need to carve out some time to come for breakfast. Always go with pecan waffle as that is best way to get ..perfectly cooked and good size....toss in a grilled biscuit in lieu of toast with any side meat bacon or sausage and comes out perfectly crisp. We kept passing by Waffle House locations and decided to give it a try since it was one of the few places that were open on Christmas night. We walked in to 8 employees all yelling "Merry Christmas!" We were told that they're open everyday, "even when hurricanes hit". This place has an atmosphere similar to that of Johnny Rockets or Wimpy's. The place was clean and you could even see staff diligently mopping and filling up condiments. There were quite a few groups of people coming in and out, for both dine-in and take-out. I opted for the CHEESESTEAK MELT HASH BROWN BOWL which comes with double portion of their hash brown, melted American cheese, sauteed onions, and cheesesteak ($8.20 plus tax). Upon first impression, the portion might not look like a lot but it was definitely filling! We also decided to finish our meal off with a WAFFLE WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS (since this is the Waffle House after all!) I was so pleasantly surprised, their waffles are so light and fluffy and came to our table nice and hot! Because of their, the chocolate chips were melted into the waffle holes - delicious! I'm a mid-westerner (is there a hyphen in that?) that lived down south for a year or two as a young adult. My last Waffle House meal was easily at least twenty years ago when I used to live down south. Waffle House has always been a place of nostalgia for me and this meal was no exception. Truthfully, the food is average at best. Although the sweet tea was incredible! Try the Arnold Palmer, it's even better! What this restaurant exceeded at was customer service and experience! By far! I still remember the people that served me, the conversations and laughter that we had, their names and how they took such good care of me. With every step they went above and beyond. And, the staff were fun, happy and kind people; the very best kind of people. There is a jukebox here. Sit at the counter, you will have a wonderful meal because of outstanding customer service! Sadly, the restroom needed some love. It was in bad condition. I've seen some gas stations with more inviting bathrooms. read more

I admit I've never eaten a waffle in this house and Burt's chili has never touched my lips nor have I ever listened to Francis Albert Sinatra belt out "New York New York" at 3:00 AM on the Waffle House juke box while sipping coffee from a ceramic mug on a stool at the counter or have I've ever traded useless tidbits of today's politics with servers named Agnes, Esther, or Ruby. Call me lackadaisical, indolent or slothful but I prefer the the hard composite booth in the corner facing the door while reading my laminated placemat menu that displays the demiurgic manipulated photos of entrées that have never actually been plated inside one of these cloned restaurants that mimics a shrine dedicated to the late night loner, the over the road insomniac trucker, or partaker of the last call from the jib joint down the road, of which I'm neither but I do like this place. I like the grits, the eggs and bacon, the country ham and raisin toast served by a name tag wearing waitress that shows her years of service and who always offers up a healthy serving of honey, sweetheart or darling like a Hollywood script from the fifties and it doesn't matter if she's sixty-three or twenty-five the culture lives on. My vantage point provides me unequaled people watching opportunities and at the same time shelters me from the views of the crusted waffle maker, the egg splattered oven doors, the greasy floors and dirty dish rags most likely use to wipe down the table top that props up my elbows. If one is looking for a decent place to have breakfast, Waffle House is always a solid place to go. Service at this location was great, as I arrived around 6AM. It wasn't busy, but they probably were earlier in the evening, as quite a few tables had stacks of dirty dishes. Not the most appetizing thing to stare at the entire time I was there. I was greeted immediately as I entered and my beverage order was taken. The food is made right in front of you. I forgot to ask for no oil when my eggs were made, so they were a little greasy. The waffle was hot and the bacon was crisp. Overall, it was a typical, decent experience for a Waffle House and, they're not cheap. Breakfast for one, with a 20% tip, was $13. read more
