The red beans and rice had a rich, smoky flavor that tasted like it had been simmering for hours. The jambalaya was loaded with shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage in a flavorful Cajun butter and wine sauce with plenty of peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The only thing that caught me off guard was the menu describing the jambalaya as being served over risotto. Mine was served over regular rice in a thinner sauce, so it wasn't quite what I expected. It was still a good dish--just different from the description. Between the food, atmosphere, service, and prices, I'd happily stop back. If you're in the area and looking for solid Cajun-inspired comfort food, Mallards is worth a visit.

The Mac and cheese was delicious, and the potatoes had a great flavor. Be warned that the initial line is super long and can stretch to outside, but then it is much quicker after you get through the first line. The servers were all super nice and the place had a great, welcoming atmosphere. I also appreciated that they let girl scouts sell cookies inside the restaurant!
