Was looking for a quick late night meal with my gf. Decided on this place instead of Mel's because as we passed, we seen it wasn't so busy and considering it was about to be 10, we decided to stop by. The server passed by numerous times without acknowledging us and we didn't think much about it. After about ten minutes, we finally got acknowledged and seated. After about 15 minutes they finally came to take our drink order, but we were ready and ordered our food as well. During this time two big groups came in and they got busy, we didn't think much as we had ordered our food already, but to our surprise, 30 minutes after ordering our food, the server came back to "double check" what we had ordered because their computers "were messing up". Now, at this point we should have left but we had gotten our drinks already and were half way done with them and it seemed like a huge inconvenience to pay for just our drinks, so we decided to stay thinking our food couldn't be that much longer ... well, it took 40 minutes after she came to "double check" for us to finally get our food, all the mean time the big groups had gotten all their food and were eating already. We were about to stand up and pay for our drinks when the food came and being that we waited that long, might as well eat.

We had ordered an original grand slam, a berry French toast slam, an extra order of hash brown and our drinks, but we only got one order of has brown. I was waiting for the server to pass by to refill our drinks or ask how we were...

doing to bring it up but she didn't until we had finished our food. I wasn't about to ask for our hash brown once we were finished and have it take another 40 minutes so I asked for the check hoping the has brown were included. But they were ... so I figured I'd just bring it up at check out since I never got it. But going up to pay, I seen one cook literally running around in the kitchen, one person cleaning a mess that was on the floor, (I had heard a boom and thought maybe they were dumping dishes in the sink, but it turns out they dropped a ton of drinks on the floor behind the register), a lady filling drinks and one customer in front of me who was impatient. After about 8 minutes the lady finally took my receipt and as I was about to bring up the hash brown issue, the impatient customer (who I'm guessing was a doordasher) asked about an order and the lady being frustrated asked him to back up a bit because of the broken cups in the floor and that his order wasn't ready because it wasn't made, to wait and she'll get it to him when it's ready. So I figured they have a lot more to deal with than me not getting my has brown, figured $2.99 for hash browns I didn't get wouldn't be worth adding to their stress so I just paid. Almost two hours later from me walking in, I was finally walking out with the most understaffed, mismanaged restaurant I've been too. I'm not sure if it was a bad night, of people called off, or if it's usually just like this but GOT DAMN does this place need help.

Berry Vanilla Crepe breakfast!! So good!!!

I always enjoy my Sunday morning breakfast at Denny's here in westwood. The manager, Michelle, is very attentive and the servers, especially Alejandra, always take good care of me. Lupe is another that helps with my five star review! And of course, Pedro make sure everything stays nice and clean and ready to go! 5 Stars all around!

First tine in this location. We didn't wait too long to get seated but when I requested to get a booth the server's reply was kinda' rude like yaiks! When I asked for the restroom code, another server answered, under her breath and went pass by me, not even looking at me so I had to ask again. Maybe need to be educated on customer service. When I asked to get the bill, same young girl stared at me like oh Bella! She was flat affect and look so unhappy. Our server was awesome, Alejandra you are the only bright thing in this place! Kudos to the kitchen for our yummy breakfast! I've been to other Denny's with friendly staff.

I came for the Berry Vanilla Crepe Breakfast, because anything with strawberries and vanilla sauce is good in my book. It came with eggs, hash browns, and I substituted ham instead of bacon. The service was very quick, albeit not the friendliest, but certainly not rude. I checked in on Yelp for the 20% off coupon, so that covered the tip. The crepe was excellent--just as delicious as it looks in the picture. It was sweet, but not overpoweringly sweet, and I was pleasantly surprised to find more strawberries than I was expecting. (If you ever order things that come with fruit, you know that they never give you enough of the fruit.) Perfect ratio of strawberries to crepe, and the vanilla sauce complimented the flavors nicely. Unfortunately, the other parts of the breakfast weren't so great. The eggs were fine, but the ham was rubbery and way too salty. (Not to mention, there was a $1 up-charge for the ham--not a big deal, but it wasn't mentioned to me when I ordered.) The hash browns were also disappointing and tasted like they came out of a bag. Everything was fine enough to eat. Was the breakfast bad? No. I cleaned my plate entirely. Would I get it again? The crepe, 100% yes. The other things, no. read more

The place was a mess most of the tables were dirty. Busy night? probably. enough workers.? Don't think so. The server was very nice and polite full of energy BUT the food was sooo bad my father couldnt even eat the country fry steak was oily and burnt we returned it and the server brought another one almost the same. we did not eat it. The plate sampler was also disgusting, i was hungry and i ate the chicken but the ring onions oily the mozzarella sticks were bad. bad, bad. I work long late nights and I never ordered Denny's online before hoping for the best because I do love the restaurant but what I got in my order was so shit. I was just so disappointed with how my food came out. I paid $28 for a half size sandwich and small amount of fries I wasn't even given a full portion of my meal. Food: Got the classic burgers and fries for 3.99. The burger was pretty dry and the fries were bland. Service: I agree with everyone else, service here is really slowwwww! After we were somewhat done with our food, the waitress dropped off the check and left. after about 15-20 minutes of waiting for the waitress to come pick up the check, I was finally told that we pay up at the front of the restaurant. Yeah would've been nice if they told me when they dropped off the check so I didn't have to sit there and wait like an idiot for 20 minute. Will not be returning. read more

The service was okay, nothing spectacular, since there only appeared to be one waitress and one cook working at that time. I mean, I understand that costs have to be brought down as much as possible for a for-profit restaurant that is open 24 hours a day, such as Denny's, and I don't have any qualms about that. I don't even care that much about Denny's notoriously slow service. What I do have qualms about was the bad half-pound medium rare steak that I ordered that night, which caused me to nearly be bed-ridden for the next 3 days. Now, I've eaten medium rare steak before at other restaurants, and I've never had issues before. But that particular night, I started having incredibly bad stomach pain and broke into a cold sweat, until just a few hours into the night later. Suffice to say, I didn't sleep well that entire night, and the pain just grew worse overnight into the next morning. It was so bad that I couldn't even drive to get over-the-counter medicine; in fact, my significant other had to pick up medicine for me. Thankfully, she didn't have any issues (she ordered pancakes). Long story short: Avoid at all costs unless you're looking to potentially getting food poisoning. read more

The serving sizes here never disappoint! I got the choconana pancakes which came with 2 eggs, hash browns, and a choice of two bacon or two sausage links. Everything was delicious and I went home with most of my pancakes left over. The service was quick and my cup was only empty for a few minutes before the server refilled it. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. The food and cafe de olla are worth it.

Tonight was a total embarrassment, yet again, on the late night of 12-13 October 2016. I go with a friend, who is a server, to Denny's. Upon arrival, we get approached by a server some ten minutes in. There were no more than 3 tables at the moment. There, she gets my friend coffee, and I decided to get nothing to drink. A few minutes later, my friend requests "Can we get a minute?" No one returned for 45 minutes. One party of 4 was seated, had ordered, and was served food before any server returned to take our order that was supposed to be completed "in a minute." Some 15 minutes later, the order came out. In the meantime, no refill for my friend's coffee. Both of our orders were screwed up. (Note, my bill was $4.36, and with seedy types like that rotund 50-something waitress, one can't count on their credit card not being stolen.) That rotund 50-something then got upset with us over their screw up. I try to be fair, but one couldn't have screwed up my order. I ordered a "Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast" with sunny-side up eggs. How she took that and turned the order into 2 eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, and something else is beyond me. One can't screw up something so simple. That's fine, except she directly blamed us for her own screwup. In the meantime, my friend, again, was never given a refill. Finally, the orders came forth, only 15 minutes later, yet again. Upon cashing out, that same nimrod had linked our bill together, without having cared to ask whether we wanted to pay separately or not. It took her another 5 minutes to pay this. We arrived at around 12:45 AM and weren't able to leave until approaching 3 AM. Our plan was to stay no longer than 1:30 AM. My friend remarked "With workers like that, it makes me want to vote for Trump," who she despises. I had to walk her to the parking garage, since the time was 3 AM by this point. I had to return to the restaurant to get a Lyft, to which that same rotund turd remarked "You have already been served. If you do not leave, I will call the cops." Why would she say that? Because she received no tip from either of us. Why? 45 minute wait time to get an order taken only after an initial attempt was made, never any refills for my friend, screwing up the order and then blaming us for a simple $2/4/6/8 menu, not caring to ask whether the check would be together or separate, and zero effort all around. To note, I normally tip 20% in general, and around 40% for Denny's. Here's the deal to that sorry sack of garbage for a waitress. You are in your 50s, and yet you still can't even do a job that one with an average intelligence and half your age could do with half the effort and quadruple the outlet. You are quintessentially worthless. Had you called the cops on me, I would have told the two officers the same that I told you there. But see, I have class and didn't care to embarrass you there for the abortion that is you and your lack of pride in your job. Even in a basic job like Ralphs, you would have been fired on the spot for such negligence. Even McDonald's wouldn't have tolerated such complacency. That goofball walked by no less than a half a dozen times without noticing or having the basic intellect to think "Hmm, have you been served? Are you OK?" There are good workers there, and she's not one of them. To note, she also didn't have a name tag and refused to state her name after the fact. Denny's will be great again once she's fired! Finally, I was trying to set up my friend with another friend for a date tomorrow, which won't happen now because she had to stay up so late, and I have to waste time telling reviewers that that waitress' mother should've chucked her in the trash can at birth. ~ NS, historian and translator read more

This store doesn't even deserve this one star. We came in to enjoy a breakfast and we have never been so uncomfortable. We got sugar thrown at us, got called a slut, fruity and a whore. The management here lets bums sit at tables as long as they dont disturb anyone (which is fine). But the fact that this guy was clearly unbalanced and was still allowed to stay in the building is beyond me. After we got sugar thrown at us I went up and ask for a manager (who wasnt scheduled for another 30mins) the waiter said it's a known issue and will look into it. He did nothing but brought us our bill. Clearly there is some miss communication with the staff here on who is a priority and paying customers. After an eventful evening, my friend and I went to this Denny's during the middle of the night just needing a little pick me up. We were so grateful for the amazing service we received. Our server David was incredibly helpful and attentive, he continued to check in and make sure that we were doing alright and genuinely wanted to ensure that we enjoyed our food. Although it was so late at night, David worked hard to make sure we had a great experience. I think he deserves a raise and a promotion for how great his customer service was. He was also kind, funny, and made great conversation. As far as the food, everything came out so quickly and was absolutely delicious. For a 3am Denny's trip, this completely exceeded my expectations. read more

I think everyone and their mom has been to Denny's before. Your standard breakfast diner with good food and low prices. I happen to visit this one semi-frequently because one of my best friends lives in an apartment building nearby. Since she is a UCLA student she loves coming here on the mornings after we go out to get her extra 20% off which makes this place probably the cheapest restaurant in LA. Although I am not a UCLA student it is still very budget friendly. I usually build my grandslam or get french toast. Either way you get a lot of food for cheap but nothing beats building your own grand slam. Nothing cures a hangover quite like some good coffee, pancakes, eggs and hash browns. read more

I visited a strange Denny's restaurant today, but the staff were unwelcoming to customers. My wife and I ordered an omelet and a lasagna, but it took 40 minutes for our food to arrive. By the time it did, my Dr. Pepper had gone flat. The quality of the food was unacceptable; the hash browns were overcooked, and the lasagna was a small portion that lacked flavor. When I complained about the long wait, the waiter suggested I cancel the order, which struck me as very unprofessional. Overall, the staff had a poor attitude, and the waiter was quite rude. I would advise against visiting this restaurant if you want to avoid ruining your day. read more

This Denny's offers no security. On Wednesday morning around 2 or 3 a group of 7 black people 6 female and one male came ordered food, and later started to terrorize the place, becoming aggresive, insulting, throwing things, and threating other patrons. They tried to attack 2 girls and other people, including one guy who was left with a black eye, and a disabled older woman. They left as soon as one of patrons called the police, and the police came late when they left. This place is not safe and appartently Westwood is no longer safe. I think students should be especially careful read more

Oh yelp, yelp, yelp.... I should check you more often.. I came here about three days ago.. had the worst experience ever... now, I have dennys the benefit of the doubt I had a good experience at another one and figured I would give this particular dennys a chance since they were really close to my home.. Never again. 0 for the service 0 for the lack of attention 1 for the drinks one of the cps looked like she had just picked it up from the other table and brought to us to drink from. 5 for the food. just a very bad service.. will not be coming here again.. read more

Night. Hunger. Denny's. These thoughts raced through my brain as I raced down Wilshire Blvd. What would greet me there? I should have been asking who. Emily offered my companion and I a warm smile as we chose a delightfully dim lit booth in the corner of the Denny's on the corner of Tiverton and Lindbrook. The comfort of breakfast at 10:30 PM pales in comparison to the comfort of being served by Emily. If I were in charge, I'd quit and make Emily the head of Denny's. ALL Dennys EVERYWHERE. At Denny's, I had an amazing experience thanks to one exceptional worker. His name was David and their warm smile and helpful demeanor made me feel right at home. They were attentive, offered great menu suggestions, and ensured my needs were met promptly. I had the crazy spicy skillet due to their recommendation and it was superb! During my recent visit to Denny's, I had the pleasure of experiencing outstanding customer service thanks to Michelle, the manager. Despite the kitchen being closed for cleaning, Michelle went above and beyond to ensure my visit was enjoyable. She offered me a strawberry shake to go, which was a nice touch. If I have to rate this place for my last experience no stars at all. We went after fireworks on July 4th OMG busy place but for me understaff we wait 15 min for a refill and one plate was missing for my friend that he took to go because all of us we were done. I gave 5 starts because the manager on duty was aware about the situation and he help us with our orders of course it's not easy handle a 12 ppl table. He apologized and gave us a discount Food was good and friendly staff I hope they can hire more employees for next time read more

This Denny's is a great staple in the Westwood/UCLA community. It's open 24 hours and the service is always consistent and efficient throughout the whole day. I recently came at 1 am and was served by David who was doing everything but cooking the food. David attended to everyone in the restaurant in a timely manner, and made sure I had everything correct in my order. Overall, I would recommend stopping at this Denny's to have some amazing french toast and a great Oreo milkshake as well! read more

It's late at night and you're hungover. What better place to go to than Denny's. Maria greeted us as soon as she saw us walk in and sat us down instantly. She was so sweet and got our food going right away. My brother and I come here all the time and the servers are always great. They work super hard and the food is always up to standards. Would definitely recommend, especially when it's late and your cravings kick in. Shout out Maria! Thanks for being great :) read more
