I had orange juice and the Dippy Breakfast - two eggs, bacon and sausage, white toast. It was excellent! My husband had the protein breakfast which was low-carb and he said it was excellent also. Amber was working the entire dining room by herself and the place filled up with what appeared to be mostly regulars as soon as the doors opened. Even with waiting on an entire dining room of people single-handedly, Amber got everything right and our meal was served in a very timely manner. I loved observing how she knew so many of the people by name and what their usual drinks were etc. It speaks well of a business to have so many regulars. So all in all, I think the Friends Diner is going to become a place where we also regularly eat.

The cafe is now owned by Diane, Ann's daughter. The tables are packed tightly together, but we were happy to get the last seats in the house. Nostalgic photos of Franklin cover the walls. The place is loud but with a great positive energy. People are small-town friendly and talk between tables as they enjoy their biscuits and gravy. We cajoled with two regulars who told funny stories. Our server, Gill, was quick to the table and friendly. He checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. The menu is a mix of traditional breakfast options, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Prices are reasonable. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered their hand breaded tenderloin with fries. The tenderloin was massive with a great browned breading, served on a Kaiser roll. The pork was tender and juicy. It was a perfect tenderloin, worthy of the Indiana Tenderloin Trail. The hand-cut fries are lightly breaded, crispy and hot. There was an up-charge for the fries, but they were so good and worth it. It was rainy outside, so I had a bowl of the daily soup - broccoli cheddar. The soup was hot, thick, creamy with lots of broccoli and cheese and stuck to my ribs. My soup was served with packs of saltines. Free street parking is available if you're lucky to grab a spot. Well worth the drive to Franklin. Ps. They are closed Saturday and Sunday!

All the decor is really fun and when you see the location from the outside, you wouldn't expect how great it's going to look inside. Nice job with all the decor and theming. The menu has what you would expect from a diner - burgers, tenderloin, chicken and the food is solid. My tenderloin was very large and cooked the way I like them. They even found a bun that was almost large enough haha! I did think the tenderloin needed a little more seasoning. Just something else so I added Cajun seasoning to my leftovers and that was quite good. My husband got a grilled chicken sandwich and also enjoyed it. He really liked everything about this place and is talking about bringing his dad and going back another time.

The restaurant serves salads, pizza, burgers, spaghetti and other Italian entrees. I got the lasagna, which came with bread and a salad or you could substitute the salad for extra bread. They did not have fries. But they did have potato wedges, which is what I got to complete my meal. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and they brought it to my table. It was fresh and hot. The lasagna was small and tasted ok. I have had better, and I have had worse. The potato wedges were pretty good. They do not come with catsup though. You have to request it. All in all, this is a neat little mom and pop diner. It really takes you back. I think that it does miss the mark on table service though. I am glad to see that they got with the times and do now accept credit cards, as a few years ago they did not. I always love supporting local.

My spaghetti was an ample portion with a lot of sauce which I mopped up with the tasty bread. The rest of the party are their food with gusto so I'm assuming they liked it. It is a fun spot for a quick lunch or dinner and they had lots of options for hot sandwiches or cooked food.

To the Nines is a restaurant in the Central Nine Career Center that is located south of Greenwood…read more Students, under the supervision of two chefs, are trained in the culinary arts, both in the kitchen and out in the front of the "house". A lot has changed since the first review. Now, the restaurant is only open on Fridays for lunch during the school semesters (no summer dates, time off for winter break, etc.) The lunch service is from noon to 1:45 (Yelp's software won't let 15 minute intervals be indicated.) On every other Friday, the restaurant is set up as a buffet and is quite popular (so I'm told). Apparently lines form on those days. On the alternate Fridays, the restaurant is a cafe where you get table service and can select from a limited menu that also has daily specials selected by the chefs. You can refer to their website for schedule dates to help you decide between cafe or buffet. Their Facebook page also lets you know what the daily specials are on the cafe days. Once you pull onto the campus, there are plenty of signs directing you to a private parking lot reserved for dining guests. It's just a short stroll into the restaurant. There is one large room with black linen table cloths. Most tables are large enough for 4-6 diners, but a number of 2-top tables are placed along the windows and far wall. I was greeted and seated by one of the chefs and given a brief overview about how the students did 95% of the work in the kitchen and would also be waiting on me (I chose a cafe day.) I won't say that the service or meal are the best, because frankly, they are still learning and some skills in service come with experience. If you are going to be impatient or picky, then maybe this isn't the place for you. I ordered a cup of French Onion Soup, an Andouille Po'boy (topped with coleslaw) and a side of broccoli salad. Generally, all tasted very good. There were small misses though. The waitress didn't know that the broccoli salad was the kind that is pre-mixed with dressing so I was surprised when she asked what kind of dressing I wanted on it. To her credit, when I though it odd, she excused herself to go ask the chef. (Yea!) I also asked if the French Onion Soup could be brought out first and then have the sandwich and salad brought together. Either she forgot or maybe they don't allow it, but the soup arrived at the same time as everything else. It would have been nice to have it early to help pass the wait time. I also had to ask for a soup spoon. Little things really, but I hope they read this and can help add to the learning process. The waitress also disappeared behind the black curtain for long periods of time which left it to the chef/front end manager to have to check on me/refill my water glass; things that an experienced waitress would know to do. Overall, the food was good, reasonably priced, and if you have a little patience, the service is fine when taken on the whole. I applaud that there is a place where people who want to enter the food industry can get live training from experienced chefs/managers who generally care about developing the student skills. It's a hybrid between a breakfast spot and a cigar lounge vibe. We digged it! After sitting down our very friendly waitress came over and took our order. We ordered the orange sunrise mocktail, a quinoa bowl, gluten free pancakes and the California club omelette. Everything was AMAZING. Not one thing was bad. The omelette was one of the best if not the best I've ever had. Stuffed FULL of all the mix ins and cheese with yummy breakfast potatoes. The star of the show was the gluten free pancakes. It was all tasty, but that biscuit was fluffy and salty, exactly how a good biscuit should be. Our server made the whole meal. She was friendly and patient with me even though I was having more trouble than usual deciding what to order. She also mixed our Bloody Marys, so she was working double duty and doing it well. Pretty much everything from the middle "shared plate and veggie" section. My wife and I split a super rich and tasty lamb bolognese. Again, the star of the show was the service and welcoming environment. It's just nice that they also performed on a stage of superbly prepared edibles. Would go again with a big group and maybe get a sitter so we're not leaving a trail of american cheese bits leaving an extra large tip to offset the accidental middle American Hansel and Gretel vibe.
