Took my car in for routine maintenance 11/11/20 and while it was there there was some accident and the door frame got bent. I was understanding about it because accidents happen and they were apologetic and promised to fix it but this was over a month ago and despite the body shop sending in an estimate to fix it they have not held up their promise to get the appointment set up to fix it and get me a loaner. I've reminded them but it's always "oh I'll talk to the service team" Update: 1 year later and they still never fixed it. I take my car out of town for maintenance now because I can't stand scummy behavior like that. read more

* Updated review I visited DeNooyer on 1/12/18 for an oil change, tire rotation and break inspection. Long story short, it took them 4 hours to finish my car. I felt extremely uncomfortable with the staff and told myself I would not be returning. Fast forward 194 miles later, I arrive to visit my family in Detroit. After a brutally long trip of my car pulling me left and right, making all sorts of strange noises, a disgusting smell coming from my vent, and all sorts of service lights coming on. I thought I was going crazy. Until I opened my hood and saw oil spilled all over my engine. To say I was baffled is an understatement. The technician left the oil cap off (didn't even put it on in the first place, I'm assuming) and all I was left with was drips of oil. I called them immediately the next morning. My service advisor, Brian, was very apologetic. He got me in immediately for a full detail and engine inspection. They gave me a loaner for the time being and were accommodating in every shape and form. Are they at fault? 100%. Am I mad about it? No, not anymore. They made things right, and that's something that I can respect about small businesses. I had many long discussions with my service advisor, Brian, about how they would fix it. They cleaned my car inside and out, power washed the engine, and did an engine inspection. I took the situation very seriously and I am glad to say that they did as well. My car still has a funky oil smell, but I guess that would be hard to get rid of when 4 quarts of oil spilled in your engine. Haven't decided yet if I'll return. The manager, Kelly, was very accommodating as well. But it's hard to get someone's trust back once they broke it once. My advice to everyone is to always double check the work of your technician. You shouldn't have to, but mistakes happen, and you don't want to be put in the dangerous situation that I was in. Always request proper documentation. And most importantly, expect to be treated the way that you treat others. read more

If you are like me, you REALLY love going to get an oil change. Nothing brings me more joy than taking time off of work to go and sit in a waiting room watching the news and having a bunch of strangers cough and hack. You probably don't think I am qualified to make statements like "they were running behind" or "how long does it take for an oil change." Well not to name drop, but, jokes on you because my Uncle Ed is in the oil changing business and he knows what's up. Anyway, that is not the rant I am here for. DeNooyer was on time (I would hope so, I had an appointment), the waiting room was clean, depending on which room you were in wifi was dependable (and free), no free snacks (I mean, what do you think this is the Cadillac dealership), but free coffee. My guess is they provide coffee so you can sit and enjoy the company you are forced to share time with. For example, what if I was sleepy when I went in there and dozed off while my oil was being changed. I would have totally missed Shelly... and more specifically, her playing music from her phone for everyone else to hear. Damn it Shelly, have some manners. You know better than listening to your music like that. I love MJ, but I don't like listening to Smooth Criminal in the waiting room of a place where I feel like I am already overpaying (this is not a knock on DeNooyer, everyone feels they are overpaying every visit to every mechanic ever in the history of car problems). Seriously people/Shelly, can we just have a little respect for my audible personal space. Let's see. I purchased a used truck from them and the ripoff extended warranty. Articulating running boards stop working. I paid close to $100 for them to say they're rusted, your warranty won't cover it and it'll cost either $1200 or $2,000 to replace them. Two or three years later, I go to a different dealership and they say there's no power to the motor, it should be covered. Another time before my major mistake in buying ANYTHING from them, a friend and I show up on a Saturday afternoon because he had the car in mind he was purchasing and they literally locked the doors as we were walking to the door. They would have made the sale if they'd scheduled a time for him to return. He was smart and purchased from another dealer. Then when Saturn closed its doors, I received a wonderful letter from them about how much they wanted to buy my Saturn. I made an appointment and the offer was so low it was insulting. I told the arrogant jerk he wasted my time. Not sure why I ever returned, well, I was on norco after shoulder replacement. Only reason I can think of. Don't go there!!!! Then there was the time I had to complain about the female service advisor when I took my Saturn for service. They took over after Saturn went belly up. I'm not sure she's still there. She was such a b@&ch that free service/oil changes would not bring me back. I must be stupid for buying my truck from them or the people next door. Stay away, very far away. In fact, run! read more

After searching high and low for my first "real" car--a Subaru Impreza hatchback for months, I finally stumbled upon one at DeNooyer. I emailed for more info about the vehicle, and received a very quick response from Barry. We set up a test drive and discussed price the next day, and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't like dealing with commissioned sales people--I find them pushy and annoying--but Barry was neither of those things (although he doesn't work on commission). DeNooyer actually prices close to market value (rather than blue book value, which is only list prices, not what the cars actually sell for), so the price on the car was great. He gave us a short background on the car and listed off what they had done to the car when the previous owners traded it in. I couldn't argue on price, especially for a low-mile Subaru, but he wanted to know if the price we were looking at was what I wanted. He and Paul in finance worked to get my monthly payment lower than what I was shooting for, which was awesome. I couldn't take the car home that day, but they were more than happy to take it back through detailing until I could come back to get it. When I came to finally take my baby home, Barry went back through the car to make sure that everything looked great, made sure the owner's manual was still in the glove box, and even found me a replacement floor mat for one of the back seats. He put all of my paperwork (and there's a lot of it!) into a nice plastic envelope to keep it nice. The dealership also offers a "pit stop," which is a quick detail and wash, tire check/fill and fluid top off, which I think is pretty awesome. Their website offers a car profile section, where you can keep track of the services your car has had there and schedule new ones. All in all, a fantastic experience, especially for my first big girl car purchase. The only bad part is that they're not a Subaru dealer, but maybe they'll get more Subaru trade ins in the future. :) read more

I had a horrible experience with taking my husband truck for repairs several times over about 6 months. Each time they 'fixed' an additional problem (always costing of course) and now oops it was really the transmission and now we have to pay for a whole new transmission on a truck that is only 3 years old. I wonder if it would need a new transmission if it was fixed right the first time..... all while my husband has been deployed to DC. Thats a great thank you for your service... so angry! read more

Had vehicle for a month after purchase of $42000 and brought the vehicle in because seat warmer wasn't working and was told it was working fine. 11 months later same thing but now warranty is out and was told seat warmer was out and so was my warranty. Not honest service. Took it in for intermittent traction control problem. They said I needed a water pump (which had just been replaced) by my regular mechanic. Plus a $145 diagnostic fee. Plus an estimate of $600 for bearings. Approx $2000 estimate. Went back to my usual mechanic. Repairs completed for $383. No water pump needed. Stay away from repairs at this place. read more

I've waited a few months to make sure this wasn't "in the heat of the moment". My Truck "fell off of the lift" here. They assured me they replaced the tire and checked it over- took it to another shop and found -broken lines to OEM air suspension, ripped boot on the Air suspension, bent body mounts, missing & loose starter bolts, broken and electric taped connectors for starter& various missing slash guards.This of course was after the previous visit where I left with the oil filter and plug "finger tight" and ended up a half mile down The road with a check engine / low oil light (should have known). I'll Give it to Them that the first service was hassle free but it cannot be worth all of this. The Service representatives are careless (I would have to call several times to get in touch with the correct representative- seriously, do not expect calls back), waiting room Is always grimy and each time I was told I would have a lender truck, they would pull up a sedan. this is the GM recommended dealership for my warranty, TRASH. read more

TL,Dr: 2nd car I bought from this place but will definitely be the last. I was in need of a cheap used vehicle. I'm not in the position to finance right now so it needed to be something in my budget. I looked at several area used car lots both in person and online when what I found what looked to be just what I was looking for at a price I could afford. At Denooyer where I had bought (and financed my last vehicle). I did my homework checking the car fax and blue book value, reviews of the make & model of the year I found and headed off to the dealership. Now I know it was a Saturday at noon and that's a busy time for them but nobody came to help even after 20 minutes of looking the SUV over so I headed to the building to get some help when someone finally noticed me and after signaling my intention that I wanted to look at a vehicle Mark Avard came out with the keys. I asked him basic questions about the car, none of which he could answer except that it was a trade-in and they hadn't even looked it over. Ok... So, it mentioned a bunch of features which weren't true. That's ok too as I just need a reliable vehicle right now and most of those I didn't necessarily need (although a working air conditioner would have been nice in this weather!). I noticed that the check engine light was on so on my test drive I went to auto zone where they diagnosed it as the evaporative emissions system that had an incorrect purge flow, a cheap and easy fix according to them. Then I headed to a mechanic friend of mine down the street from Denooyer who also noticed a hose from the radiator needed to be replaced. No big deal. I headed back to Denooyer, cash in hand to complete the transaction. I was very pleased and excited about my new ride! Mark came out to meet me and I told him I would take it. I asked if we could negotiate, he said no the price had already been dropped $1300. Again no big deal, it doesn't hurt to ask! He discussed financing and I told him I would be paying cash (ended up putting the fees on my Cc though) and we headed into his office, where he left me to go speak with his GM. He came back in after maybe 5 minutes and dropped a file on his desk and without a word stepped back out to talk to another customer. I understand he had other customers while I was out on my test drive but then he sat down to discuss their test drive for at least 10 minutes. Not once did he ask about mine. His GM came in to bring him a file and seeing me fanning myself (it was hot in his office!) offered me some water. He brought 2 back to me and then a few minutes later Mark came back in, opened up my envelope of cash sitting in front of me, picked up the file and walked out again. All without one word spoken to me! A few minutes later he came back in with the guy who was taking my money (I forgot his name because now I was starting to feel pissed) circled the amount I was to pay and went back out again. I told the money guy that I thought Mark had very poor manners. After the guy took my money Mark came back in and I told him that maybe there was somebody else that could help me because he was obviously busy and he brushed me off. He then decided maybe he needed to make small talk with me about how when it gets super hot or super cold everyone decides they need a car. I told him the heat wasn't why I was coming to buy a car, it was out of necessity. My 15 year old car had decided that the brake lines were no longer necessary and I didn't agree... The money guy came back with my receipts and since my insurance company isn't open on Saturday I have to come back on Monday to pick up my purchase. If I hadn't needed a car asap and hadn't already fallen in love (lust?) with my new ride I would have walked out of there because of his piss poor customer service. I was a 100% guaranteed cash customer and I left there feeling pissed off and disrespected because I wasn't dropping $20,000. I have to go back Monday but this will be the last time I visit Denooyer Chevrolet. read more

Had my truck 18 years and had always gotten it serviced and repaired at a GM dealer with GM parts because major parts had a lifetime warranty. The AC compressor had been replace with a GM part at a reputable dealership in Texas about 9 years ago. I took the truck in again this spring, again, after telling them the ac compressor was the problem for 3 years. After fixing everything but the compressor, they decided it was the compressor. After 3 days of debate and research I had it replaced. When we went to pay they admitted the part was a GM part, but it was manufactured by AC Delco and only had a one years warranty, so they wouldn't honor the Mr. Goodwrench warranty. The compressor they replaced it with also only had some year warranty, but they assured me it was covered under the lifetime warranty regardless of who manufactured it. By the way... the original installing dealership in Texas said the part was GM and was covered, but Denooyer refused to cover it. My old truck won't get serviced at Denooyer again, unless their "warranted" compressor goes out. I'll use another dealership, but I won't buy another vehicle from them, and probably not another GM, after 50 years of GM loyalty. If GM allows their dealerships to do this, they can't be trusted. Honor and integrity in business isn't what it use to be. read more

Awesome! Debbie Ferrell was exceedingly helpful with both our trade in and purchase. She went above and beyond in many aspects of our transaction. From following up and starting the process over the phone, staying late to complete it without dinner or lunch, and by following up to aid in resolving issues after the transaction. After the purchase was complete it was late and still before driving the car off the lot both Jason Sellers and Debbie patiently insured that my wife and I understood the vehicles capabilities as well as its many features. This also included Debbies help on setup and a knowledge transfer of OnStars third party software so that we may monitor our investment from anywhere via both our mobile devices. Looking back on the transaction we do not have any symptoms of buyers remorse and this is partially due to the financial departments diligent and thorough efforts to give us the lowest APR possible. I am having difficulties recalling the gentlemens name but he was a pro and knew exactly what I wanted as well as what I was going to ask. By the time I was in his office to sign the paper work everything was completely in place with the best deal on the table. All in all this was a smooth and fair process for both parties. I firmly recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking for an honest and straight forward purchase. In parallel I recommend other dealerships to learn from this one, nothing is worse than being mentally beat down by overly energetic and hyper aggressive sales guys like I have had to endure from other dealerships. I was honestly to the point where I could not wait until the day I could just buy my car online. Because of the impeccable customer service of DeNooyer my mind has completely changed in less than 5min after I walked in. It was a blessing to walk into DeNooyer and to be greeted by Debbie with a calm and honest approach as well as having all questions and concerns immediately answered. As a side note I would also like to complement the cleanliness of the dealership, truly impressive to see the impeccable efforts of the afterhours cleaning staff. This is the worst place to take your car. The buying process is easy. But service wise they do not know customer service if it hit him in the face. I was purchasing a vehicle in March and purchased it the day it got to the lot. Took it the next day or two days after to be inspected. Trust them to do the inspection thoroughly. I got the car back thinking everything will be fine just like they said it was. Little did I know that this was the beginning of a hell. Express my concerns that when I receive the car again there was another issue that occurred. Thinking that winter weather is still around maybe this was the issue. Well warmer weather got here and the problems just kept getting worse. I take it into them and they want me to pay for the issues that arose after they had inspected it. This is the worst car dealership experience I have ever had, And I will never be coming back here again to purchase or to service. I had to take my Equinox to the dealership because Belle Tire didn't have the machine to check out my exhaust. I made an appointment @ 8:30 AM. Dropped off my car at that time, went home and waited to hear about the diagnostic test. At 12:00 PM called to find out and was told the service rep was out to lunch till 12:30 PM. Left a message and waited. Called again at 1:00 PM and left a message because the service rep was busy with a guest. Brian called back at 1:15 PM asking me what was going on. I asked him about the diagnostic test. He put me on hold to go check with service tech. When he came back the tech still needed 30 minutes or so more. Why did I make an appointment? Why does it take 5 plus hours to a diagnostic test? Why did I take my car to a dealership to get fixed? The last one I guess is my fault. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!! THEY ARE FRAUDS We found DeNooyer Chevrolet over the Internet (autotrader). We negotiated a price on a used Volkswagen Jetta and drove FIVE hours last weekend (11/2/13) to purchase the vehicle. Upon arriving and inspecting the vehicle; we found that the car had been completely misrepresented in their advertising. The car REEKED of smoke. The odor was so bad my wife couldn't even drive the car. No mention anywhere in their advertising or through their sales people gave notice this was a smokers car. The business manager Ryan Denooyer offered to pay for the car to be detailed in the hope the smell would be diminished as the ONLY possible resolution. There was no willingness to discount the vehicle because of its degraded state. There was no desire to apologize or compensate us for our wasted trip. This is the worst customer sales / service I have ever experienced at a dealership. After the bad experience I called and left a voice mail for the general manager Todd Denooyer; explaining our absolute frustration and disappointment with our experience. I had an issue with my car radio locking up...needed to get it unlocked and because it's a chevy I had to go to Denooyer. Herb was the service specialist that worked with me. His custormer service was excellent and he was very apologetic for the wait. He unlocked my radio and then didn't even charge me for the labor. I was so thankful that he was so nice. My husband and I just bought a car from here and have been thoroughly impressed with our experience. Todd and Ryan really listened to us and didn't try to sell us something we didn't need. They worked with us in price as well; according to our research (which was extensive) we got a great deal. The service was also outstanding! For example: I needed to feed my baby in the middle of our transactions and I was provided with an air conditioned conference room to use--- that's a huge A+ for me! Got a good trade value on an 11 year old minivan that was spent. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, good service department with extended hours and some services performed while you wait. I have a corrosion issue with my rims on my GMC Yukon. I only found this out after first taking my car to DeNooyer to be told there wasn't an issue and then getting a second opinion at Discount Tire. After speaking with 2 different service agents on 2 separate visits I was referred to speak with the service mgr, Bill. I waited 20 min to be told his meeting was running over and he would call me. On business day #2 my husband left Bill a message since we had no return call. Today is business day #4 and still no contact on DeNooyers part. Our initial visit to their service department regarding this issue was now months ago and my tires are getting worse, now requiring weekly air fills. I guess I was wrong to think my local GMC dealer would be able to help me navigate through this issue. read more

I bought a used 'as-is' 2002 Honda Civic for $3000 from Denooyer. I bought it from them and not Express Auto or Rose City Motors thinking "this is Denooyer, I'll be alright, they wouldn't put a lemon on the lot..." I was wrong. After driving this car only 50 miles the day after I bought it, I had huge puddles of anti freeze and oil under the car. I replaced the fluids, drove it back home and the same thing happened. I took it to a trusted privately owned auto repair shop and was told the head gasket was blown for sure. I really wanted a second opinion so I took it to the local Honda dealer service center and was told the engine was actually blown. On top of that there was $1000+ worth of other repairs to the fuel and suspension systems. They treated me like scum when I called them back to ask them to fix this somehow. They wouldn't help with repair costs, they wouldn't give me my money back, they basically said 'we sold you a $3000 car, you should have had it inspected before buying it. Sorry you lost 3 grand.' I only spent $3000 on a car because that's all I could afford, now I'm without a car and without $3000. My family of 4 cannot afford these expenses, but DeNooyer couldn't care less about the customers they make money from. read more

I made an appointment to have repairs done at Denooyer, where I bought my car. The auto locks aren't working, the trunk won't open, the ignition won't turn at times, and the speakers cut in and out. When I got there I was informed that there would be four separate $90 diagnosis fees before any work could be done. Since I bought the car here, I asked for some kind of accommodation, maybe a reduction in the diagnostic fees. I was told that is not their policy. I ended up having only the automatic locks looked at, which will cost over $350. Now I have to find a mechanic to look at all of the other issues. I will definitely not be buying my next car at Denooyer. You'd think they'd want to maintain customer loyalty, but that's not their policy. read more

I purchased a car from them about 2 years ago. It was my first car purchase and I was on a pretty tight budget. I found a 2007 Pontiac G6 that seemed to be in great condition and it was in my price range. They told me that the carfax was clean and that it was a "certified pre-owned vehicle". I was excited that it was actually something I could afford. After getting it, I brought it in about 4 times for repairs within the first year. Luckily, these repairs were all under warranty but it was still extremely inconvenient. Recently, I decided I wanted to trade it in for something with 4WD and when I did I was informed that the car had actually been in 2 accidents before I got it. I was extremely shocked by this considering they claimed the carfax was clean and it was a certified pre owned vehicle. Needless to say, I will never, ever, be buying a car from DeNooyer again and I would suggest everyone double check their carfax. read more

Had my brand new Chevrolet Traverse in for the first oil change. When I dropped it off the service advisor acted as if he was having and bad day and didn't want to bother me. It didn't bother me but when I asked if he could call or text me when it was done he really acted like it was a big inconvenience for him. When they brought my car back the window was down in the rain and they left the plastic and paper in the car. The car had the strongest odor of paint thinner. I pulled back around to ask why the car smelt so strong but as soon as they saw me they left. I drove home with the windows down in the rain and parked on my driveway. The next day there was a big oil stain on my driveway. This is the second vehicle that has been leaking oil after being services there. The first vehicle they put the wrong filter on. I don't know why this leak is occurring but when I tried to talk to the service manager I felt they couldn't care less. They have provided me with really bad service too many times. I would not recommend them and I will stop using them. read more

Saturn problem... lights came on briefly and then plink, went off. When I turned the key intermittently my dome light came on, or nothing. Knowing Saturn's existing recall, ignition switch, I assumed this was the problem. I removed the steering plastic cover to check for hot\burned wires and unhooked the battery as a precautionary measure. Contacted Denooyer (Saturn service) & scheduled service. I arranged to have it towed to Denooyer for the appointment Tuesday. I explained about the battery and my belief it was related to the recall. Fast forward-Tuesday - this is where it gets weird. Called Denooyer, confirming receipt of vehicle & check all in order. Dan answers, clearly upset, says he had no information on this vehicle and spent the morning trying to figure out who's it was and what it was there for. I explained everything, as I did the previous week, and asked him to do the ignition switch recall first since I suspect this was the problem but if it was wasn't to continue on to determine the issue. Dan said he needed written authorization to work on the vehicle. I sent Dan an email reiterating the same directions as stated on the phone. Fast forward -Wednesday, I call to inquire on status. Dan said "It's all done" I reply "so it was the ignition switch?" Dan said "no it still doesn't start" and that they just did the recall work. I could tell he was very upset about something. He asked me why the battery was unhooked and about the steering cover. I explained, but he still seemed upset and he told me they were to "busy" to work on my car and I needed to tow it out of their lot. I traveled to Denooyer & met Bill a Service Manager. He explained that what Dan "meant to say" was, the car might not be worth the time needed to repair. I confirmed the notes on the work order and the dates of my original call. They had all the information from the original call recorded the previous week. I explained to Bill that the car was worth a 200 dollar diagnostic fee to see if the problem could be located. We agreed that this could be done in two weeks, when they were less busy. I return to work and researched the issue using Google... Turns out this is a known issue with Saturn and involves the multi-function switch (50 dollar part). Then I receive a call from Bill. They had a meeting and they decided not to work on my car at all. They would pay to have it towed to the repair shop of my choice. DAZED & CONFUSED I thought to myself ... I should have it towed down the street to SEELYE Ford where the motto is "YES WE CAN" not "NO WE CAN;T" ... Na... too my house, I'll fix it myself. read more
