We had great experiences with Dr. Chiu and his staff for a long time and followed him to Dental Fabulous (DF) in 2024. Below are some of my experiences with DF. ==== Phone Number Change ==== On 11/06/2025, 64 days after I changed my contact number to a cell phone number on 09/03/2025, without checking with me what had happened, Office Manager (OM) advised me that DF had a form for clients to fill out to change phone numbers, attempting to justify Staff A's calling me on my old phone number 2 days before. The advice was given after Staff S (SS) had called me 3 times on my cell and attempted to send me 2 messages that I never received. I asked SS if the messages she sent me were email or text; SS never answered the questions I had for her. As for where SS sent the 2 messages TO, OM responded in her email, "As per email, we do respond from two different emails..." ==== Impression Creation and Shabby Dirty Dental Chair ==== It took 2 visits (on 10/15/2025 and 02/12/2026) and 3 impression takings before my implant crown was created. The crown cost 38% higher than the High of average cost according to AI Overview on 04/05/2026. The dental chair I uncomfortably settled on to get the implant crown installed on 03/11/2026 looked worn out and dirty. The dental assistant told me it was OK when I questioned and hesitated to sit on the dental chair. ==== Garbage Quotes ==== The price quotation for filling a tooth that SS asked me to sign had an entry for $16,000 and an entry for $55,000. I asked, "$16,000 for filling???? And $55,000 for what??!!" Only then did SS claim there was nothing she could do. I sent DF an email on 03/20/2026 about this incident and asked that the email be forwarded to the business owner. To this date of posting this review, I have not heard from anyone from DF even though I asked the business owner to acknowledge receipt of my email. ==== Duration of Appointment ==== On 03/19/2026, I cancelled my appointment and walked out of the office because the appointment was/might not be long enough to have both teeth cleaning and filling done in one sitting. SS claimed she did not know what conversation I had with the dentist. Do DF staff not communicate with each other??!! read more

My friend Liang recommended this dentist named Dr. Samuel Chiu years ago, says he's gone to him for 20 years, but I think the guy may have retired. The sign on the door at 451 Castro Street says they moved to Dental Fabulous but there's another dentist's name on that door. Haven't been able to get a hold of other dentists like Smiles Dental who never emailed back. I've had some gum pain over the past year possibly on the side or under one of my bridges. I've been trying to trust God with it but a little afraid of coming in and a little scared to just keep putting it off. Last time I was at a dentist was 1/20/22. First of all, let me qualify my review. That I'm even writing a review at all about a dentist is highly unusual. I hate having any dental work done, but having been born with bad gums and teeth of chalk, I have had an extensive amount of work done in my mouth since I was about four years old. I have had 6 root canals, 5 crowns, 2 Bridges, in addition to miscellaneous other dental work. About 60% of the work was done before I came to Dental Fabulous and I suffered through all of it. Dr. Do is completely different from any dentist I have ever used. He is patient, understanding, informative, and gentle. His main priority is for my physical health and well-being and not to make money (compared to another dentist who insisted on doing crowns for everything), whether it was the best thing to do or not. He has been able to repair shoddy work that was done by other dentists and I have had more clean check ups than ever before because of his preventative procedures and advice. I still don't like going to the dentist, but if I have to to retain my teeth, I will only go to Dental Fabulous and Dr. Do. read more

I've been seeing a dentist for as long as I can remember due to my fatal attraction to sweets and cavity-prone teeth. Dr. Do's service is undeniably top-notch and unmatched by my estimation. He recently relocated from another part of town to the center of town and the transition was seamless! The new location is great! Parking is surprisingly easy and accessible, his entire office is modern and new from top to bottom and most convenient of all, it's within walking distance to all the popular restaurants and bars in town! Aside from this great new location, here's why I highly recommend Dr. Do, why I go to him for all minor and major procedures, and why I think he's one of those people who were born to be a Dentist and not just chosen Dentistry as a career: 1) He is able to communicate clearly and concisely my problem(s), my option(s), the different procedures, and the pros/cons, and he's able to communicate in a very tender and empathetic tone. He takes his time to explain everything because it's important to him that we fully understand everything! 2) He is very gentle yet with firm and stable hands. 3) His staff is amazingly sweet, respectful and efficient. His two assistance have been with him for years and stuck with him through the move and after the move. That alone says a lot about who he is as a person. 4) I brought my mother-in-law (who lives in San Diego) to him after at least three other dentists refused to perform a complicated procedure on her and he not only performed successfully, but he did it with much ease and care. My mother-in-law is one very happy patient! 5) I had a dental implant done last year and to my surprise, the procedure was so smooth and painless. This new tooth feels like it's a part of me and not a foreign object that doesn't belong. 6) Because he cares, he will exhaust all options and will try with all his might to save a tooth before simply extracting it like how most other Dentists would instinctively do. Dr. Do is great! He did a very good job at my filling between two front teeth which is difficult and my front teeth look great now. You can't tell it has filling there! And he also took out my two bottom wisdom teeth very well. He even tell me to do the filling at the time that I can get more coverage by my insurance! I went to Dr Do for a regular teeth cleaning, and mentioned the biting pain I had, caused due to work done at a different dentist in San Jose, ( who was recommending more work and a crown. ).
