Do not take your children here. They are a terrible practice for children. We had previously seen an awesome dentist who ended up leaving them (should have been our first red flag) and their children's dentist now is a female who eta visibly upset when kids are uncomfortable in the chair and will not even attempt to do a cleaning because she is so frazzled. read more

I came into Dental Salon as an emergency patient earlier this morning. I've never been seen here before. I'd like to preface this by saying I was in desperate need of a dental assessment before taking other measures like going to the ER. Very grateful I was able to be seen on short notice. I'd like to start by acknowledging how friendly and kind the staff and front desk were to me! Exceptionally timely, organized and welcoming. Same goes for the dental hygienist who took my X-rays and was my second point of contact. He was great! Now I wish I had as nice of a review for the Doctor that saw me, unfortunately that was not the case. I am reluctant to call him out because I've seen the endless amount of arguments and backtalk on here...but I'd be doing myself and others a disservice by not sharing. Dr. Morris had some awkward bed side manner to say the least. My first impression of him was tainted by him reprimanding the hygienist in front of me. Telling him what he did wrong and what he needs to do...because it's "professional". What's extremely unprofessional is calling out your staff in front of your patients. It's simply demeaning in nature. I'm all for teaching and guidance, but that should always be done within the privacy of your staff. I explained to the doctor that I've had an ongoing sinus infection (very new to me as were my symptoms of the most debilitating jaw, tooth, maxillary and facial pain on one side). When I say I was crying in agony all night and a few days prior...I really meant it. Dr. Morris went on to do a brief exam and let me know there was not much he can do- chopped it up to TMJ pain and told me I needed a night guard. Cool...thanks for the advice but where this experience really falls short for me was when I expressed to him that the pain is so intense that it's preventing me from functioning at my normal level and that I'd feel reassured going to the ER for further analysis. I have a young daughter that I could barely tend to because of this. He became a bit condescending and told me they'd do nothing for me & that it be a complete waste of my time. In doing so he kept patting me in a very patronizing way on my chin and shoulder. He was talking to me like I was a 5 year old. I work in healthcare & I understand medical terminology. I would have appreciated a social interaction that wasn't so painfully strange. This is 2023...are physicians still gaslighting their patients to such an extreme? Are they really diminishing a persons pain and minimizing their levels of discomfort? It was totally inappropriate and although I think he meant well...the delivery was pure negligence. All I got was "I'm sorry & it sucks" and was sent on my way. I couldn't wait to get out of there and in the hands of physicians who took me seriously....and boy was I happy to have advocated for my health! Turns out I had MORE than a good reason to be further assessed- horrible bacterial infection of the sinuses- that certainly spread to parts of the face that if left untreated could have been detrimental. I'm now on a new medication regimen and very grateful to have listened to my instinct. The physicians in the ER not only validated my concerns: they couldn't express enough how badly it could have been had I listened to the dentist. They were floored by this awful interaction as much as I was. Please please follow your gut when you have persistent pain- don't let any physician ever minimize your experience! read more

I was very happy with my experience on Saturday, 1/8 with Dental Salon. I went in for my cleaning and I've been coming here for a few years. But my usual dentist is gone, so of course I didn't know what to expect with a new dentist/hygienist. But I saw Dr Cyriac - Meena the front desk, and Denise the dental assistant.... OMG ALL SO SWEET! They were patient with me and so kind. They answered all my questions and I didn't have to sit and wait forever to be seen. In was in and out. And though I got a great report on my teeth, one of them that tend to be more sensitive when eating, the Dr told me I might want to consider replacing the current crown, but didn't push it and did not try to scare me into anything. In fact, she told me it is truly up to me since I have no issues but sensitivity here and there. She kept asking if I had questions and concerns and she really seemed to care! I'll definitely be going back and I'll be keeping Dr Cyriac as my usual dentist! I'm so grateful because customer service is EVERYTHING to me! read more

Absolutely phenomenal experience. I could not believe how thorough both the dentist and the dental assistants were while finishing in less than an hour. I was there for a cleaning and regular checkup. All parties explained the procedures in detail before they performed them, and there was very little downtime because of how efficient they were. Used to hate the dentist to the extent that I avoided it for years. Dr Khanna has been extremely pleasant to visit since I started seeing him a couple years ago. Incompetent. Unethical. Botched root canal by Dr. Kim lead to a tooth extraction & implant. Today, they sent me a final notice re: the money I "owe" them from the procedure in question. Not paying out of principle. This review is long, but I have broken it into 5 parts to make it easier to read. Each piece is IMPORTANT and will give you a very clear idea of who they are & why you should avoid them. Part I: The Root Canal My working relationship with this outfit started out well enough. After a cleaning, some minor fillings, etc - all issue free - I went in for a root canal. Procedure was performed, and I was nauseous and in pain for 5 days afterwards. I just felt like something was wrong. But then the pain subsided, and life went on. Part II: The Aftermath After 2wks pain free, I began to experience extreme nerve pain in the tooth in question as well as the two surrounding teeth. I went in for multiple x-rays to make sure that the infection had not returned. Was told that all was well, no signs of issues or infection. Was told it was just post-op pain and was normal. Dr. Kim - the dentist who performed the root canal - welcomed calls and texts from me as my symptoms worsened. (The only positive thing I can say about him / Dental Salon.) He repeatedly told me that it takes infections time to go away, and that the medicated packing he had put into the empty tooth cavity would likely take care of it .. but that it might take a while. I repeatedly asked if I needed to be worried about a tooth extraction, and was told no. So ... to recap: I was being fed totally contradictory information. I was at once being told that my x-rays were fine / infection-free and being told that it was still possible that I had a little bit of an infection left in the tooth. Something was clearly off, so I asked one of my professional mentors for a 2nd opinion recommendation. Part III: The Truth Two days later - and this was about a week after my last x-ray with Dental Salon - I met with a wonderful, kind and competent Endo. She took x-rays and explained to me that the tooth had been so badly compromised from a structural perspective that it needed to be extracted. ***She also stated that there was clearly still infection left in the tooth and showed to me on the x-ray.**** She said that - given the chronological order of events / the short time span during which all of this had taken place - it was clear that he had never removed all of the infection in the first place. This woman delineated the innumerable things that were wrong with how the tooth had been treated, and drafted a document citing these points. She told me to send it all to Dental Salon in an attempt to receive financial restitution, stating that I should not have to pay for what they did to me. I sent everything to them and waited. Part IV: The Runaround (this part is actually funny!) After receiving the notes and x-rays, Dental Salon responded. I received an absolutely hilarious call from Dr. Morris - Dental Salon's owner. I answered the phone, and the person on the other end said "Hi, this is Dr. Morris. We have a patient in common and I would like to discuss her case." I paused, realized that HE MEANT TO CALL MY ENDO but had called me instead. (Read into this what you will ... I have my theories, but am attempting to remove all emotion from this review.) Upon realizing that he had, in fact, called the patient in question, he tried to extract himself from the conversation. I asked to him to clarify who he was and was told "I'm sorry to bother you." When pressed, he finally elaborated by stating that he was the owner of Dental Salon, and I set out to keep him on the line. When I calmly stated that I felt I should not have to pay for the procedure given the fact that his employees mistake was abt to cost me a great deal of $ and pain, he became enraged and told me that I could not accuse Dr. Kim of *anything*. That root canals / teeth in general "are complicated" and that it was not *their* fault. At that point, I calmly asked him to hold on, stating that I had to plug my phone in. (I didn't - but he clearly needed a moment to calm down.) When I returned to the line, a more restrained Dr. Morris assured me he would talk to my endo and get back to me and that we would continue the dialogue. I politely thanked him for his time, and we hung up. I never heard from him again. Part V: The Extraction Well, this part is pretty self explanatory. I had the tooth extracted by Lincoln Park Dental Specialists (review coming soon) and they were excellent! Easy procedure, qualified staff, great recovery time ... Honestly, the procedure was less physically horrid than I assumed it would be. But I still had to pay $1,000+ out of pocket. Dental Salon is the best !!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Dr Khanna. I was sitting in the dental chair, reminding myself to breathe, wiggle my feet, hold a fist and waiting for the needle , in short I was waiting to get it over with the needle part. Dr Khanna held his mirror and gently pulled my cheek to the side ,wiggling my cheek, then I closed my eyes , waiting for the painful moment , the needle needle is coming!!. Come on doctor , I am ready , that was my thought. Dr Khanna gently pulled the instrument out, I was like , come on, I am ready. Then he told me done. , What?.. That was the only painful part. " I felt nothing" In addition, in the middle of the procedure I asked if I can have a bite block , just to rest my mouth on , because I could fall asleep and I have to keep the mouth open for the 2 deep fillings that's very close to the nerve. Kirat, his assistant was excellent , I would do it over again , but this time with an ear plug since the noise from this drilling instrument distracted me from taking my nap. Recently went for a cleaning & for assistance on two newly-made partials, top and bottom, that was a botched quack-job from an unreliable dental office. Scheduled with this new office for a regular cleaning & tried to see if the Dental Salon could possibly assist me with obtaining a good fit with my new partials ($6,000 cash), so that I can finally wear them. Regarding the cleaning, my back right molar still has tarter on it, so the back of my mouth was missed at cleaning. Regarding my unfitting partials, the Dentist stated that he does not work on partials at all since "nobody likes them". The girl who sat me in the dental chair upon my arrival took all of my information; took a ton of unnecessary X-rays & proceeded by quickly asking me to smile as she began snapping a photo of me with her iPhone, without my permission, to be placed into my file. More shockingly, at the end, she proceeded to place her dirty iPhone into my mouth to snap pictures of the inside of my mouth & missing teeth, again without warning/explanation, nor permission. Not a good experience. Uncomfortable & traumatizing. Won't be going back. read more

Had an accident over the weekend where I chipped my two front teeth. The only thing giving this practice more than one star is it is one of the half dozen dentistries in Chicago that is open on the weekends. The dentist said I required two crowns for my teeth. I didn't think I needed it but I received a second opinion. After consulting with my normal dentist office, it looks like Dental Salon was going to charge me $1,200 more than the normal rate for two crowns. I was going here for over 10 years and never had an issue until recently. I had missed my appointment due to not receiving a reminder and I had explained that when I had rescheduled my appointment. I was not told I would still be liable for the cancelation fee. I arrived for my appointment and I refused to pay the cancelation fee and was told I they can't see me so ok I left. I received a bill for 2 canceled appointments. No one ever apologized to me or anything but I posted my experience on Google and I noticed the business response is not very professional. I also noticed patients who post a negative experience receive a negative response from the business. I'm glad to go elsewhere after witnessing their customer service and that's from a manager.
