I had several follow-up appointments,one of which was to have a root canal by Dr. Raja. He has newer equipment and techniques that made that process completed relatively .... pain free. I have been going to this practice for years. I am delighted that root canals can now be done here instead of going to Frederick. They got me in promptly for an appointment. Dr. Raja was not happy with the fit on my new crown. He sent it back to be redone. So glad he was looking out for me. He wants his work done RIGHT. He has since changed companies to prepare his crowns. He is very compassionate and I greatly appreciated this. I highly recommend Dr. Raja and his very qualified team member including Anna. Go here at your own risk. I had a procedure that was denied by my insurance but no one told me. I…read moredid not learn until after the procedure was finished that it was not pre-authed, according to the lady at the desk on 12/17. I also had no discussion at anytime with a patient coordinator or given any information regarding cost to me on or after the prior initial appointment, per the Byrd Dental website. See screenshot from their site. The lady charged me 50 something dollars after the procedure, then we were not informed of the full cost until 12/18 when they claimed it was just denied. That paperwork shows it was denied on the 11th of November(almost 6 weeks ago) though, so they did try to pre-auth it but it was denied and no one said anything. Now I am supposed to pay 500 bucks because no one informed me it was not going to be covered, as any respected business would do. Otherwise, it is just deceptive, bad faith business practices. Simply put, if I knew it was denied, I wouldn't have had it done because I just had it done a few months ago, at a different dentist. Byrd Dental knew this and they likely knew it would be denied based on my conversations while in office. The dentist's office is blaming the insurance, the insurance says it is the dentist's office. Neither informed me of a denial and neither will have to pay for it. Just to be clear, we got appointment reminders through text, email, and calls including a real person. The dentist's office had ample opportunity to say it was denied and did not. The insurance company says they sent the mail but it never arrived in our mailbox, or to the mail distribution center where photos of incoming mail are taken. We have other mail from them regarding the previous dentist but nothing regarding Byrd Dental and we have scoured the digital photos to be certain. Byrd Dental has a chance to right this situation and keep a customer. If they do, I will update this review. If not, I hope you avoid them so this does not happen to you.

First, let me say my case was pretty bad. I had almost retired myself to the fact my teeth would rot out of my head before I would be able to afford real dental care. Listen, do not let that deter you, Mrs Shelia gave me information to Atnea Dental that ended up saving me almost 75% of my procedures. For example: I needed 7 full front top crowns and this was just the beginning. Each crown roughly cost around 1700.00, but with Mrs Shelia and Valley Dental Associates as a whole they helped lead me to this insurance taking the cost down to roughly 700 a piece. I use the word roughly because every case is different and therefore could mean price variations. Im using my case as an example only to show how much they helped me save in my case. Now let's move along. After my 7 crowns I will need my bottoms done and restored. Then upper and lower back partials. I intend to make a progress review at the very end. So far I can absolutely promise you will not regret going to Valley Dental they just gave me my teeth back. I had gone to a school of dentistry back in 2018. I wish I had known then what I know now would have saved myself time, money, and likely a couple teeth. As it were I feel very lucky to be working with such a professional and competent team of people to restore my smile and my confidence. Yesterday I held my hand up infront if my mouth, and then I remembered I didn't have to anymore. It had become muscle memory to hide my teeth. Also, I had lost so much weight because my teeth were crumbling. Valley Dental Associates took what I thought impossible and made it possible. I was explained every step, a part of every decision, nothing happened unless I was 100% comfortable and on board. The tech nearly ran me down in the hallway, as he was running in the hall. Then he bumbled the xray, and came back saying my tooth was overlapping. I have zero overlapping teeth. Then he couldn't work the camera. The dentist came in and said that she didn't want to fix my loose filling! "I could smooth it down," she said, "but that might mak it worse." I didn't come in to have it smoothed, I need it replaced! She (dentist) didn't ask me any questions. Just said, nope, won't help you. Incompetent, bumbling, uninformed. Do not schedule here! Awful patient care! Plus, the room was dirty and the tech left that heavy xray apron on me long after the xray was done. Awful experience!
