Came here on a Sunday night after rehearsal and we wanted a place to grab food and a drink. This place was so cool and the vibe was so intimate yet lively. They had a beer pong table, connect four and a jumbo Jenga game all set up. And the music was blasted pretty loudly in there so it was pretty hard to hear my friends talk in there. But service was really fast since it wasn't super busy and the bartender was super nice and attentive. I tried the Wolf Burger & french fries and it was pretty good. My friends tried the asada fries, burrito and tater tots. We all felt like it did its job of satisfying our hungry bellies. This restaurant surprised me! I went for a few drinks, but ended up ordering tacos. Then I found out that all tacos are $2 on Tuesday! (Except the shrimp tacos, still worth it!) Stopped by here this past Sunday for brunch. At first, it doesn't look like much. But when you walk in, the vibe is chill. My wife and I got here about noon, the DJ was just setting up, and started doing her thang. She was playing some pretty dope old school hits. Visited on Saturday around 8:20 after a long train ride to Pasadena and the service was horrible. Food took to long to arrive despite it not being that busy, in fact one of my friends burrito fell on the ground and a drink I ordered took 21 minutes to get to my table all because the only two bartenders where busy chatting it up that they forgot about it and unfortunately I wasn't the only table they forgot because there was other peoples drinks that took longer than mines. I had my wedding rehearsal after party here. We got bottle service and had an open tab all night. Our server, Melissa, was fantastic. We requested the DJ to play hip hop and the manager asked us to pay $50 for the whole night. When we went to pay they told us it would be $50 per DJ?? Wow, this place was awesome, first off security was very helpful, and there weren't bullies at all. They seated me very fast and let me choose where I wanted to sit. I was there for the UFC 303 event it was Poppin. I had apatizers which was great in price and drinks. The service was quick and easy to order. I even had two waitresses always asking if everything was ok. Also, there wasn't a bad seat in the house with all the big screen TV screens all around. I never had the chance to visit this place before the pandemic, but comparing my experiences in my two visits to the photos and reviews of past customers, I have a feeling Der Wolf has new owernship. I first came on a Saturday around 11am, expecting a wide variety of German food and German beer on the menu. When my server gave me a menu of mostly bar foods, including tacos, burritos, nachos, etc., I was already kinda disappointed. I ended up settling on one of two German beers they were offering, and one of the few "German" sausages they offer, a pork and veal Bavarian Nuremberg. After I ordered this, my server returns to tell me they are only offering their brunch menu until 4pm on Saturdays. I looked at their brunch menu and wasn't interested in anything on it. Again, it was a menu of not German food, but American breakfast food with a few Mexican items. The only "German" item was a sausage sampler platter, which included three sausages that weren't even German. I asked if I could just order the beer, which was allowed at other restaurants I've been to in Pasadena since the pandemic began, but apparently here it isn't allowed. So I ordered a side of tater tots and was planning to get my lunch elsewhere. Then after sitting for a while, I thought maybe I should take advantage of their brunch cocktail menu since I probably wouldn't be returning again for brunch. The only "German" cocktail I saw on the brunch menu that wasn't on their normal menu was something called the Spritzen, which honestly sounded very refreshing and appetizing. I ordered that to follow my beer, but I really regret it. The drink looked and tasted the way it would have at a dive or sports bar, meaning made with cheap alcohol and cheap flavoring thrown together in a big glass, garnished with a lemon wedge. Rough around the edges, and not strong enough to justify the $15 it cost. I decided that in the future, dining in or not, I would only come here for their normal menu and German beer. What's the point in coming to a German pub for anything else? So I returned with my housemate last night to take advantage of the last night out we can have in Pasadena for at least the next three weeks, and it was a shit show. Firstly, every single table they had out in the courtyard patio, something around 20 tables, was full. I don't know the exact rules of the decreased capacity dining in Pasadena, but if it applied to them, they certainly weren't following it. My roommate and I waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and as we were waiting, we observed that almost every other group of customers seemed to know each other and all of the servers. They all hugged and were being seated faster than we were, which may or may not have been due to reservations, but it wasn't fully clear. After we were seated, our server and the food runners were nice, but getting things from them was almost like pulling teeth. Every time they came over or brought something to us, they would forget something else and we would have to remind them. It made us feel like we were almost being unreasonable, but asking for napkins when we were given none, or a glass of water (then eventually a pitcher because our cups sat empty for a while) 3-5 times each is kinda ridiculous in my opinion. Then we had to ask multiple times for cups for the beer we ordered, and when our food finally came out, two different employees didn't know which sausage was which when they sat them down. One was a frankfurter and one was the Bavarian sausage, which they would have immediately known if they cared at all about serving German food. They told us that they ran out of fries and asked if onion rings would be fine instead, but then they forgot to bring the onion rings out and had to be reminded. When the onion rings were finally brought out, they only included a half-full ramekin of ranch--the only dipping sauce they included--for six or seven large onion rings. They had also forgotten to add caramelized onions to both of our sausages, but hadn't forgotten to charge us for both! When we asked for the onions *again* for both sausages, someone brought out enough onions for one sausage. We just split them and let it go. The food wasn't even worth all of the fuss. The pretzel we ordered was burnt on the bottom, the beer didn't even taste like a hefe, and the sausage rolls were stale and not enjoyable. These experiences made me realize that this new owner(s) might not know how to run a restaurant, but instead just a bar, and that they prioritize having fun with their friends over providing good customer service to people they don't know. I am not likely to return or recommend this to anyone who is looking for more than a place to get drinks. read more

Love this place... their tacos are delicious and they have a great tequila selection. That being said, it seems more of a tequila-based specialty cocktail/sports bar than a German pub. The only thing German is that they have brats and pretzels. I think a name change would be a good idea to accurately reflect the experience and the vibe... Just my 2 cents. They have tons of games to play and plenty of TVs to watch the games. The bartenders Jorge and Jose are always great and take great care of us. I was just looking for a place where some friends and I could watch the Benavidez/Plant fight and this was one of the only venues that appeared. Not only is there a great amount of parking all around, but once we got to the door, we were greeted nicely by security and then checked in with my reservations. There was plenty of space and there is also a downstairs and patio. The bartenders were very accommodating and kind. The food was delicious and the drinks were good. I feel robbed coming here for late night dinner. My friends and I ordered an appetizer platter to share and what had come out was atrocious. It was a platter with raw Brussel sprouts (take a look at the picture attached to this review) a couple of pieces of pretzel, 2 or 3 pieces of chicken strips, and battered coconut shrimp. It was the weirdest combination platter I've ever had. It seemed as if the cook had run out of ingredients and put together a medly of random stuff. The Brussel sprouts weren't even cooked or seasoned! Also ordered a pretzel.... The dough was pretty soft and well salted but what had come out did not look like a pretzel. We came here 45 min before closing so I feel like the cook gave us the mistake pretzel and left over "stuff" and turned it into an appetizer platter. Pretty disappointed with the food.
