We'd heard good things about this place, but I'm sorry to say it fell short in many ways. They tried to seat us on the patio in cold weather for our reservation because they were going to be busy with a party. When we expressed our hesitation, they talked us into sitting at a table they set up in the lobby. Odd, but we had a good laugh about it. The staff was kind and accommodating (they really deserve more than the one star), but the food was truly awful. I tried the curry, which didn't have the slightest bit of curry flavor, and had chicken in it with either skin or fat on it that I couldn't even cut through. Others in our party ordered a meatball sandwich that arrived with no sauce on it and cold meatballs, and a burger that didn't even meet my dad's expectations, which is saying something! Dessert was cheesecake with a caramel "sauce" on it that was chewy like gum. We were laughing in many ways when we left. Suffice to say we were disappointed, and can't imagine going back. read more

BRUNCH at Derricks....wish it wasn't so close to our house because it's too tempting! We tried out Derricks this last weekend and were quite impressed. For $23.95 we got: B = Beautiful location: Overlooking the 10th and 18th hole, this little restaurant has gorgeous views. It was raining the day we came so we had to see the view out the windows but on a sunny day I can imagine sipping a mimosa on their lovely patio and taking it all in R = R U Getting another mimosa? They must have changed things since last year because it looks like in Jessica Y's review she had to pay $5 extra for her bottomless mimosa. That's not the case now. For a very decent champagne mixed with orange juice we paid nothing outside of our brunch price:) U = Unbelievably fresh lox: I love lox on a brunch buffet but so often find it oily or fishy. The lox on Derricks buffet was so good I went back for seconds. (I think this speaks to the quality of their food overall) N = Nice omelet bar: There was a customized omelet bar set up with fresh spinach, chopped bell peppers, bacon, ham, onions, cheese etc. The chef came out and made us delicious hot omelettes which we happily took back to our table with bacon, breakfast potatoes and cut strawberries off the buffet. **Little aside on the breakfast potatoes, OMG, so delicious! Perfectly seasoned! C = Customer service: We had a great server that was quite attentive and her colleagues in the dining room were only too happy to help as well. H = Helping after helping: This is an AYCE brunch buffet featuring chef selections that change (for us there was salmon, chicken piccata and pasta), appetizers (ex: ahi tuna on toast points) salads, fruit, pastries, that omelet station, bacon/sausage, potatoes, bagels and of course desserts. We didn't try so many things including the dessert that looked delicious but it's definitely worth pacing yourself if you want to get in helping after helping! I would have loved if some of the food was hotter (ex: the potatoes were luke warm and would have rocked hot) and offering toast or even putting a toaster out so you could toast your bagel would enhance the overall experience. A friend told us about Derricks Taco Tuesday 5pm-7pm: 3 Tacos for $5 $3 Beer $5 Margaritas Well, my boyfriend and I went tonight and weren't too impressed. Yes, you get a nice view of a beautiful course. Yes, the taco man and bartender are super nice guys!! But I didn't love my St. Patty's margarita...oh wait, it's not March yet. No, our margaritas only looked lucky green. Didn't expect a fancy golf course to serve such cheap alcohol. The tacos weren't terrible. I liked the table they have set up with all the taco fixings. Watch out though. It is right by the doors and with people coming in and out, flies are more than happy to help themselves. I will most likely only be back to golf. read more

Best outdoor seating in LA county! All day breakfast is also perfect! Service is excellent and no waiting for most of the time!

This place needs a manager. We went there tonight arriving at 7:15 pm. Restaurant hours are posted to 8:00 pm. By the way, this is a Friday night. Bartender tells us the kitchen closed at 7:00 pm. But he could pour us a cocktail. Thanks for that. If you have a restaurant- with posted hours to 8:00 pm - the place should be open until 8:00pm. We wasted our time and effort. Did I mention that it's a Friday night??? We ended up eating at La Bettola also in Yorba Linda. They were open and happy to have our business. Food was excellent. Moral of the story - you can't count on Derricks. Bartender told us "the chef closed the kitchen at 7:00 pm". I guess the inmates are running the asylum. My question is where the heck is the management of this place? When you have posted hours to 8:00 pm - you stay open until 8:00 pm. But only if you are trying to run a successful business. You must make this one of your regular stops. Taco Tuesday is so tasty and served by the most pleasant staff around. Views on the outside patio are of the gold course or if you sit off to the side you can see all the way to the Angel red "A", either spectacular on a warm summer evening. All menu items are good choices BUT the DESSERT menu is beyond good! OMG they had the best ever crème brulee, these are made on site by a nice young chef. You must try this place out. read more

3.5 stars. Pretty quiet and I am interested in trying the buffets/brunches. I hear those are the value here. Went here for breakfast and it was a bit pricey, but the portions were generous and service was good. The options were limited, but the food came out quick. Got the breakfast sandwich upon recommendation and it was like burger with your choice of meat. It was the size of normal burger so I can appreciate that. Tasted good too. Seems like the course employees and and the bar workers help each other out. We were greeted several times and asked how we were enjoying out time. Just hope there are more customers during rush hour since it would be a shame to waste a space like this. read more

Located inside Black Gold Golf Club. What a perfect place to relax, eat, and drink after a nice golf round or from the range. My friends and I were very impressed at the quality of the food and prices. Everything I've eaten have been great. You can sit inside and enjoy watching sports in the comfy seats or be out on the covered patio watching the approach shots to the 18th green, very nice view. Great selection of beers and drinks. Always get great service. Keep it up. read more

We golf here every now and then and pretty much love the course...other than their greens are some of the hardest to read in the OC. "Everything runs towards Disneyland homies"... We "sniffed in" on the BRUNCH at $23.95 per person. The value is pretty good but a bit more variety wouldn't hurt. Stuff we tried: LOX SCRAMBLED EGGS, SAUSAGE, BACON FRIED CHICKEN BREAST IN GRAVY CHEESE BLINTZES w/MAPLE SYRUP MUSHROOM SALAD w/BALSAMIC VINEGARETTE TIRAMISU ICE CREAM CRUNCH BAR CHOPPED CANTALOUPE and HONEYDEW MELON COFFEE The lox were pretty fresh but I've had better for sure. The sausage links were really nice. As usual the chicken breast was a bit dry but the gravy helped. The blintzes were good and the mushroom salad was great. The tiramisu was a little plain and needed the alcohol punch. The ice cream bar was too healthy with faux ice cream inside. The fruit was fresh. Their coffee was above average quality. The view is very nice of the 10th and 18th holes. Its fun watching golfers struggle on that filthy 18th green or land in the water. Last time we ate breakfast out here a coyote (at first thought fox) was hunting ducks on the pond while a hawk swooped in and carried away a coot bird. It can get hot out there even though it is well covered. I would veto it for most of the summer use being this far east but late fall, winter and spring are good. read more

If I can give it a no star I would, just had breakfast at this place and wow is it horrible, waited 45 minutes to get our food, after we get our food it's the smallest portion I have ever seen in my like, also missing things which are advertised in there menu. Other than a nice view of the course don't waste your time going here for breakfast. read more

A good 19th hole, service is usually spot on and the food surprisingly good. Fish and chips or sliders never disappoint and are as good anywhere else in Orange county. Good beer selection and golf on tv or current sports. Perfect. read more

Love coming for Burger Night on Wednesdays. Try to come a couple times per month and have even brought others to join us in the fun! One issue kept this from being a 5-star review. There is a man who also comes to Burger night (and maybe other nights). He parks himself and his laptop on the patio and smokes a cigar the whole time he is there. Not sure if he is an employee or just a regular, but the cigar smell really ruins the atmosphere of the beautiful patio when the wind is wrong or you can't get a seat far enough away. This is such a great 19th hole. The food is good and the views are great. The bartender Chris knows his stuff and always takes great care of us. Multiple TVs inside and elevated patio seating outside so you can gamble on the groups finishing the 18th. There's no better place to have a basket of fries or a full lunch meal than this spot. read more

The most amazing Sunday brunch I have ever ever seen and been too!! They have salmon, shrimp, salad bar, mushroom fried rice, omelette bar, ceviche, all kinds of other foods and amazing service!! Very reasonable prices considering the high quality food and great ambiance. $23.95 and $5 more for the bottomless champagne which is highly recommended. There are big TV's in the bar/dinning area and comfortable chairs you can sit here and have a great time for hours. read more
