We saw the add for the Subaru we were looking for on Craigslist. After reading all the maintenance and required repair issues that were done at 81k and not required until 105k miles we decided to contact Nat and drove out of our way to see this car ! When you purchase a vehicle from a private party there is inherently less stress involved because you aren't walking into the lion's den like you do at a car dealership. And yet, technically, this *IS* a car dealership but they manage to pull off giving their customers an experience as if they are purchasing from a private party...with the icing on the cake being the professionalism they also exhibit to sweeten the experience! I found them through a craigslist ad they had up, and promptly received a phone call from Erik (with a K, btw!) around 6 pm to my inquiry...setting up an appointment for the next day, Sunday. Unfortunately, I had a limited budget...but they worked with me so I could get the Kia Soul that I so badly wanted and needed...and in the exact color I was hoping for....and it was in great shape! The whole process was so pleasant and stress-free.....and Nate and Erik were sincerely friendly and helpful, without the usual stereo-type behavior that you normally affix to car salesmen that I had to keep reminding myself that I was actually at a car dealership! I never felt pressured, or that I was being given the run-around...or felt a need to put up any guard or participate in the normal "car buying/selling games" as is commonly the case with dealerships. I drove 3 hours today to purchase my vehicle, and am over-the-moon happy with both the purchase and the customer service. Drive a little and save a lot on a quality used vehicle...where they do all the work for you in thoroughly checking it out (and fixing it, if need be!) so you know exactly what you are getting straight up! At first, I was impressed by the down to earth and helpful sales gentleman Erik when I first arrived at Deruelle's Auto Sales. I came to look at a specific vehicle they had advertised on Craigslist, but was on my way to look at few more that day. I was a serious buyer, cash in hand, and let him know where I needed to be and Erik said they could get me under that amount. The car was a bit older than what I was looking for, but seemed like a quality car and drove well. They offered me no pressure sales, and even checked out other cars on my list through carfax for me. I was impressed, and after some thought, decided not to look at the other vehicles I had planned on and make Deruelle's an offer on the vehicle. They were asking $1,000 over blue book, the car had no records for service, was very basic and needed new tires within the next few months. I offered blue book top dollar, knowing that I might need to go over, and thought that we would meet at a fair price. Being a young woman, I knew I would probably get a little hassled, but I trusted that they were good guys. Now, they probably didn't realize I had spent 2 years working at a car dealership, and I know the sales pitch front and backwards. They were literally text book in trying to sell me. The back and forth, the trying to make me feel bad, and that they weren't going to make their $2000 they wanted to, even told me they were already discounting it so much for their "Craigslist price." What was their bottom line? out the door for $300 MORE than what they were asking for the vehicle. Haha, what a deal! When I didn't take the bait, their owner was rude, started talking down to me, and generally treated me with complete disrespect. I walked away, even got the old "chase you down and offer you $100 off!"... No thanks. I was told by Deruelle's owner I would never find a decent car for price I was looking for. WELL, I just bought a beautiful car, 5 years newer, with every bell and whistle I could ask for, with ALL the service records, 2 sets of brand new tires (one studded snow tires!) that included rotations for life, a perfect engine, and the list goes on. And I paid $600 less than Deruelle's final offer. Glad I moved on. If you go with these guys, they may be likable, but they are still car salesman. Get ready to play hard ball. read more

They offer way below bluebook before even seeing your car and then try to scare you with warnings of major replacements due at your car's current mileage, which you will find is not true if you do a little research. read more

After having two horrible experiences with different dealerships (within the last two weeks) when trying to buy a car, I found this out-of-the-way place in Shingle Springs. (I live in Sacramento). It is a small lot, and admittedly, when we pulled up we were a bit hesitant about whether we wanted to even get a closer look at cars. But I have to tell you, "This place is totally worth your time." Nate and Sierra (the owners) are good, hard-working people, and they will give you an honest price. We also received a 1 year warranty on the car, and they also offer free oil changes for a year. Wow! That's the first thing I thought as I left Deruelles after buying my second car from this wonder little goldmine. Including myself and my family, we have bought 4 cars from Deruelles! I have had the honor of watching them grow over the last three years. You know a business is great if they can not only survive in this economy but flourish and grow. Everytime I come back...they have almost double in size! When I first found Deruelles they only had about 10 cars on the lot, but every car on the lot believe it or not, was a 1 owner low mileage car, and i was amazed to say the least. There was 35 cars to choose from the this last time! The owner, Nate Deruelle has developed a system of buying cars where he only buys the best of the best from private party people. Most of the cars he buys are 1 owner cars, and the part I love most is they get records for most of their cars! I have bought 2 cars from Deruelles and have loved both of them. I hated the process of buying a car in the past, and hated dealerships even more. I actually enjoy the process now, and I will be continuing to purchase all my vehicles from Deruelles and Deruelles only. They have always taken care of me, and I feel they truly care about people getting good cars.
