I am so glad I did. I have never had such a great experience with any medical doctor in my life! He offers real options, options and their value to cost ratio, and helps cool some of the fears that come with the unknowns of two new family members after several years sadly without pets. I can get a little worked up over small symptoms. To keep things short, I have brought both pets in for emergent and preventative and I have always felt good after the experience. Juxtapose this to the Wolf clinic where I had to go twice when adopting from orphans of the storm- who never let me speak with the vet and brushed off real medical questions with the excuses of policy. If you are on the fence, give Dr. Cohen and the Highland park vet clinic a try. Once you have spoken with him, you will know you are working with an outstanding physician!

I didn't ask for a quote, just a baseline price. Asked if the exam was free then... nope, mandatory $80 to just LOOK look at the teeth, then quote. Tried to call back to see if its a full exam then, and the geriatric sounding receptionist kept sending my calls to voice-mail. He then told us that the levels were high in August but they did not alert us until we had another appointment in November. If they knew about it in August why would they not tell us? He shows no sign that he cares and said he would send over a list of specialists. We receive it and it's just a list of other vet locations (no doctor names) and no specifics if they specialize in our dog's disease. The vet techs are friendly but I do not recommend this doctor. Also they charge you $ if your dog pukes in the hospital which I think is pretty messed up cause it is a hospital and our poor dog was sick.

Obviously, having me drive an hour to Dr. Gill's office during a MEDICAL EMERGENCY, only to be told they did not want to give treatment and to drive to an ER 1 hour away, in the opposite direction, is NOT in my pet's best interest! One staff member was especially rude to my mother when she was trying to understand the medical terms he was using (english is her second language) and spoke down to us and treated us like we did not matter. Most of the vet techs were very kind and treated us like human beings (one of the girls was very kind to my dog and I am so grateful for her compassion), but I can't say the same for Dr. Gill and his main assistant. Bottom line: If you love your animal and want them to see a vet that actually cares about their health/wellbeing, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! Instead, find a vet that won't treat you like an ATM!

We had to make the decision to put him down as he was starting to have seizures and decline quickly. Mary, Countryside's manager, got us in quickly. It was a tough situation as I was flying back in from out of town. Having to do something like this with your beloved pet is so, so difficult. The staff at Countryside, from Naomi at the front desk, from the gentle care from Dr. Mary Hannah and to the love of Bruno from vet tech Chris, made what could have been the worst life experience much more bearable. They treated Bruno with so much love and respect. Dr. Hannah was SO kind in how she spoke to Bruno gently and lovingly. This was so calming and reassuring for me and Bruno. Chris held and hugged Bruno giving him little treats with tears in her eyes. Countryside REALLY loved my dog. I also can't forget to mention Dr. Malitz and all the other amazing stuff there. They literally have no turnover of staff which speaks volumes! I have had a rough couple of months and have sent countless emails and made many phone calls out of concern, and they were always kind, patient and helpful. My dog was very sick. Anytime I needed an appointment to get him checked out they would tell me…read morethey couldn't accommodate me and that I should take him to the Emergency Vet because they were days out on an available appointments and that his condition didn't make a difference to them and that they had other appointments to attend to. I took him to the ER which cost me over $1500.00for a supposed ear infection and some antibiotics. Followed up with the Vet when I was able to get an appointment days later and they had no clue what his diagnosis was or how to treat him from the notes from the ER room. Fast forward 2 months later and my dog had the same symptoms that he had when I was told to take him to the ER room and they again told me they could not accommodate an appointment for four days. He declined so badly in 2 days that I had to make an appointment to put him down. I came home the day he was scheduled to be Euthanized and he was dying in front of me on the floor. I called and spoke to Janet and Andrea (I believe that is her name. She is the office manager)and told them that I needed to bring him in ASAP 2 hours before my appointment and they told me they could not accommodate me. I was told they had appointments ahead of me. I asked if the appointments ahead of me had their dogs dying on the floor at their homes and had a scheduled Euthanasia. Andrea told me no, and that it didn't matter. Scheduled appoints take precedence over mine. I ended up having to drive to the ER to have him put down which took me 25 minutes to get to. He suffered for 25 minutes barely breathing when I could have taken him 3 minutes up the street to Countryside and they denied my request. They care nothing about your pet. They are a business to take your money. Stay away from this Vet. The Veterinarians working there have no control over anything because Countryside is a Chain Vet Service. Not privately owned. They are about money. Not caring for sick pets. They also prescribe medicine without seeing your dog and looking at his/hers previous vet records on what medications they are on. They actually prescribed to separate steroids for my dog which would have killed him instantly. I called them and asked them how they didn't know that he was already on a steroid and they said the office manager , Andrea never updated the records. Stay away from this vet clinic.

After looking into and speaking with five other practices, my search ended at Aberdeen. Here, I have found a knowledgeable, experienced, gentle and caring veterinarian in Dr. C.. He is confidant in his abilities but not overbearing and respectful of me as my pets' guardian. His staff is a reflection of him- competent, respectful, cheerful. The clinic is very clean and maintained, bright and comfortable. I have never waited more than 5-10 minutes for our appointments. Best of all, my two dogs are not afraid to return here, even after two years of exams, vaccines, dental cleaning, etc.. I have never seen a terrified animal in the waiting room which, admittedly, was common at our former vet. As a pet owner of almost 40 years, I have, do and will continue to recommend Dr. Dean C. and his staff at Aberdeen Animal Hospital.

We liked them and we were pretty happy with their service, although the receptionists have said some pretty inappropriate things in the past. More recently, they have become extremely non-transparent and shady, for lack of a better term. They try to push extra services (I know they all do that), then make multiple attempts to make you feel bad when you decline. Last visit, 2 months ago, the vet said my dog needed some extractions. Fair enough. We called recently to gauge cost, and the receptionist said we must bring him for another appt. because it's been too long since his last one. Really? We asked for a ball park estimate. She said absolutely not. Furthermore, she said that if he needs 5 extractions, we must do ALL of them at once because that's the law. That's a blatant lie and one that really annoyed me. What if I can't afford all of them at once? I'm sure there are people who don't even think twice and just agree and pay. They are the ones who enable this type of behavior. I called 2 other places shortly afterward and was given an EXACT estimate per extraction. They've never even met the dog and they can still confidently quote. This has left a very bad taste in my mouth, so I think we will be going elsewhere from now on. Shockingly, all of the vets in the area have much better reviews than NB Animal Clinic, I just never bothered to check.
