The Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad was unlike any Brussels sprouts dish we've had before. The Ricotta Gnocchi was rich, comforting and easily could have been a meal by itself. Cocktails were also well done. The M-80 definitely lived up to its name because it packed a punch. My wife enjoyed the Courtesan so much she ordered a second. The biggest issue of the night was the Steak Frites. My wife ordered it medium and it came out overcooked twice. What made it more frustrating is that the steak was sliced, so it was immediately obvious. To their credit, they brought us complimentary dessert, although I was surprised the steak itself wasn't removed from the bill. Meanwhile, the wood-grilled pork chop with grits and shishito peppers was excellent. I came here because they were recommended on different websites. I loved this place, their food is innovative and they play a lot with flavors and texture. We ordered the tatter tots which were so good and the roe on top of it made it delicious and fresh. The burrito was good and I recommend it. The calzone was good and I enjoyed it very much. The waffle was a little crispy for my taste but it was good. The sorbet was really good, very fresh tasting. The champagne flight was good and I definitely recommend it. I really enjoyed this place and would definitely recommend it. It is pricey but to me, it was worth it because everything was good and good quality. The service was also good. We've always enjoyed our time at Workshop. It's so yummy! You know what to expect. No surprises. It's simple, casual, and good. We've tried many dishes and the only one that I would not recommend would be the flat iron steak. We really wanted to love this place, and were really looking forward to this meal as our "fancy" dinner in Palm Springs. We came a bit early for our res (20mins), but weren't able to be seated until a few mins past our reservation slot. This was honestly probably the highlight of our meal. We had read some reviews before across different social medias, and ordered the fried oyster mushrooms, kimchi fried rice, and duck salad for appetizers. Overall, the dishes were extremely salty. The duck salad is probably the best out of the 3, and the fried oyster mushrooms were just eating salty fried batter, we couldn't even taste the mushrooms inside. Kimchi fried rice was also pretty disappointing, too much rice and too little other toppings, and again way too salty. For entrees we ordered the scallops and burger, both again extremely salty, the scallops slightly more edible. While the portion size for the other dishes were relatively reasonable, we were surprised that the scallop dish was $52+tax for 3 pieces of scallop. We did know this was on the michelin guide, but 3 still felt like highway robbery. 3 small salty pieces at that, with some white turnips/vegetables to fill up the rest of the plate. Note to self to always ask when ordering how many pieces each dish contains. We ordered the first 3 drinks on the menu, after hearing some online raves for this spot's drinks. It was honestly just ok, nothing super remarkable. Service overall was extremely nice, we felt very taken care of (if a little bit too much). Slightly tucked away in the heart of Palm Springs, this has become our anniversary dinner spot for the last couple of years. I don't drink and while my wife was surprised with a glass of champagne to celebrate, they brought over a zero alcohol alternative to me. It was an excellent gesture. The service and food are both amazing. Everything is fresh! I recommend getting a reservation if you want a booth; otherwise, there's a chance you will be seated at a shared table in the center of the restaurant (plenty of space regardless). Entering into a Courtyard this feels like a hidden gem. The property is beautiful with the patio having a fountain and Spanish Architecture that sets you into a desert oasis. The interior is very modern and the concrete is a cool setting that makes you feel tucked away from the desert heat. We were greeted by the hosts and the waiter was very helpful and attentive to any of our needs. We started off with drinks and I had the Urbane it came with their own branded ice very similar to an old fashioned/manhattan. All of the food used great ingredients and similar to the architecture, created a special experience. We ordered the Ricotta Gnocchi, Kimchi Fried Rice and Steak Frites. My favorite of these was the Ricotta gnocchi which was cooked to the right texture and the butternut squash puree was perfectly smooth to pair with it. The kimchi fried rice was yummy but I did find the peanuts a little interesting for this dish and the pork belly was very crispy like well done bacon. The ingredients again were super fresh and still made for an impressive given the breadth of the menu. The steak frites were very good, we ordered it medium and they managed to get a really good crust on it. The cherry butter on top was rich and played well on the seasoned crust. The duck fat frites were seasoned well and paired with a miso aioli. Workshop gets a 5/5 for its setting, presentation, food quality and excellent staff! I loved my experience at the Workshop! The food was literally spectacular and I can't believe I've been missing out on such a gem of a restaurant for all the time I spend in the Desert. Although the portions are small and it's wildly expensive I will for sure be adding it to the regular rotation of dining spaces to enjoy while in town. I would certainly recommend it to any of my friends as well. Many people will probably find paying $52 dollars for a plate of 3 scallops with 5 mussels exorbitant and $58 dollars for 5 shrimp on a bed of Risotto insane. This, unfortunately, is just what things cost if you're going to get the perfection that the Workshop provides. I can't imagine being in the restaurant business in today's world. It's refreshing to find a restaurant who has not compromised quality in a world where so many other are cutting corners in order to keep costs down. David, our server, was perfectly balanced between giving us a casual vibe but completely on point with all aspects of providing us with everything we needed- his timing was impeccable. The austere and brutalist atmosphere was a unique element to our meal when juxtaposed against the food. Imagine the decor as being the the blank canvas and the food as the art that brings it to life. I did find myself becoming a bit uncomfortable toward the end of the meal after sitting in the relentless cement booth, but, I suppose that ensures parties won't continue to linger too long and, again, forces the patron to focus on the food. Hamachi crudo was perfection along with the Duck confit salad (amazing). Scallop entree and corn risotto with shrimp were also both phenomenal. If you're into food - the workshop shouldn't be missed. I would advise not coming late to this establishment you never know of you'll get ignored. Writing this outside the restaurant. To answer owners comments: Firstly the oversold comment is incorrect. We came in with all facilities in place. Secondly the server was incorrect on a type of alcohol and when I corrected him he gave me an incredulous look and sauntered off. Lastly, if we were to be denied it should have happened at that moment by the server. We waited ten minutes before anyone came to discuss of which was a lie. As you stated we were not being served due to a difference of opinion not the bar. I've been in the restaurant industry 20 years. I am well informed on what oversold looks and sounds like. I would like to point out I did not say don't go to your establishment because the food or drinks are bad. My 1 star is for service and misinformation. Excellent NYE dining experience. Despite the unexpected rain, we were glad to have reserved an indoor spot which offered great privacy within the restaurant's striking brutalist-modern design. The $150 preset NYE menu included four courses; the only course without choices was the gnocchi, and everything was very well executed and delicious. The cocktails were great as well. The GM checked in on us multiple times, and we felt genuinely well taken care of with both food and drinks. My wife and I came here for a dinner date on our vacation. We originally had an earlier reservation, and we couldn't change it online. We called onced they opened and got to push back to 8:!5 as the other option was to be seated outdoors. We walked to the front of the restaurant, then had to go through the outdoor dining area to enter through the hostess stand. After we checked in, we got seated. We were sitting in a booth about 10 feet from the door, and it stayed open the entire night so we could feel the breeze. I ended up keeping my jacket on. We opted to make our night a little special and got sparkling water. We ordered the Shaved Brussel Sprouts and Stracciatella to share. They were both delicious. I really enjoyed the crispy red quinoa, as it added a nice crunch to the dish. We ended up ordering the Wood-fired sourdough pizza as our entree to share. It was very delicious, and we ended up bringing leftovers to take home. We ordered a Pamplemousse dessert to enjoy in the restaurant and a pistachio dessert to go. We really enjoyed the Pamplemousse. We really enjoyed the food, but wished the door had been closed. However, I understand the waiters and waitresses used it frequently to walk in and out, and that might have been less enjoyable than feeling the breeze every 30 seconds. We were seated immediately. they have a pretty expansive wine list and some great cocktails. We had the urbane cocktail and a hefeweizen. food wise Oyster Mushroom chicken fried with bread and butter pickles and buttermilk sauce and spiced honey which was excellent for main the Iberian Pork steak with cheddar grits and fig mustard and sugar snap peas . It was very good a little on the rare side for me I would order again buy more medium to my liking also the steak frites with duck fat fries and lactose fermented cherry butter also excellent . we had no room for dessert but it looked good. we will defiantly be back read more

Walnuts, apples, almonds! This set the tone for tonight Leah was so fast serving drinks, appetizers and entrees and swapping out my wine for one i preferred more I didn't know what to expect from a burger here but it's a 9/10. This thing is flawless i wish i knew what they put in it and that i didn't come so full. Is this catsup or ketchup in it? It was good, but where's the option to ketchup? Lol. Terrible customer service and terrible food. We were making one of our frequent visits to Palm Springs and made a reservation for 5:00 p.m. on June 1. We are always looking for special places to dine when we stay in the desert and were eager to try this beautiful restaurant. We called the restaurant the morning we arrived and changed the time of our reservation to 6:30 p.m. The restaurant called us back that afternoon and confirmed our reservation for that time. However, when we arrived there at 6:30 p.m., the woman at the front desk had no record of our reservation and told us there was no table for us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She took us to the back of the restaurant and showed us our only option: two stools in a small cramped corner at the end of the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was Restaurant Week in Palm Springs, so we decided to stay and try the special prix fixe menu the restaurant had created for the occasion. We hoped the food would compensate for the incompetent customer service. But it didn't. The meal we had was mostly awful. My gazpacho had only two flavors: excessive lemon juice and excessive SALT. My halibut entree was well-cooked but encrusted with so much SALT and spices that the taste can only be described as corrosive. This was served with a few pieces of overcooked asparagus and a handful of greens dressed with excessive lemon juice and SALT. My partner had a beet salad that was alright. His steak entrée was properly cooked but completely covered with a brown sauce that was too SALTY. This was served with some button mushrooms and watercress. For dessert, there was a white chocolate mousse with the consistency of Crisco; and a tres leches cake that was missing all of its leches because it was shrunken and dry. Whoever is working in this workshop takes perfectly good food and then ruins it with bad dressings, coatings, and sauces. We were poorly treated and then poorly fed and we will never return to the Workshop Kitchen again. read more

My mom, my wife, and I went to La Jefa to have a coffee (amazing place), and we decided to grab brunch at this restaurant. Since it's close by and we didn't want to move our car, we figured we'd give it a try, even though we had seen several bad reviews about the place. What a regret. First, we ordered a coffee and a cappuccino. They were cold. Bad start. Then we ordered food, and I asked for the burger, medium, with a side of bacon. My burger came out raw and cold, and the bacon was soggy and dripping oil. My waitress was busy, so I mentioned the issue to another waiter. Nothing happened. After my family finished their food, I went inside to speak directly with my waitress. She told me that the other waiter had just informed her about my food. I ended up leaving the place without eating and with one clear lesson: I really need to pay more attention to Yelp reviews. read more

It was November 5th, around 7:30 p.m., when I left Workshop Kitchen + Bar feeling deeply disappointed -- and not because of the food. I had made a reservation through Resy, unaware that it was for the community table. My guest and I arrived right on time, dressed appropriately, expecting a polished dining experience. What we got instead was something else entirely. Inside, several booths sat empty, as did multiple seats at the community table. Out on the patio, most tables were open. We asked if we could sit in one of the booths -- "They're taken," the hostess said. We then asked about the patio -- again, "No." Finally, we asked about the community table -- the one our reservation was apparently for -- and were told that wasn't available either. The only seats they offered us were two spots at the outdoor bar, far from where everyone else was being comfortably accommodated. We turned them down. The message didn't need to be spoken -- it was clear enough. What stood out most was who did get seated: guests who didn't look like us. My friend and I, both Asian, both well-dressed and professional, somehow weren't "right" for a regular table. In 2025, in Palm Springs, that's more than disappointing -- it's unacceptable. It brought to mind the Great White restaurant incident in Los Angeles, another case where bias tried to hide behind hospitality. Discrimination -- even the subtle kind -- has no place in a restaurant that calls itself high-end. Workshop Kitchen + Bar failed that test miserably. I won't be returning, and I encourage others to think carefully before spending their money somewhere that makes people feel unwelcome. read more

I always enjoy visiting the Workshop when I'm in Palm Springs. Kudos to you if you get to sit inside where it's dim, industrial, and very modern. We didn't make ressies in time so had to sit in the courtyard. No complaints, it was nice and airy next to the olive tree. We easily found street parking next door on a Thursday evening. To drink, I had the Weakie Tiki mocktail which was had pineapple, lime, grapefruit, and old fashion bitters. It was good. The mint garnish gave it a nice scent. My friend had the VPS mocktail and liked that as well. To eat, I opted for Diver Scallops since I love seared scallops. It was amazing, just the way I like it. Flavorful and full of life with the added veggies. I wished the mussels that came with it were a bit bigger. The price is steep, but I warranted it with the outdoor experience, when in Palm Springs! My friend had the Salmon Special and she liked that as well. She said the exterior was slightly crunchy and the interior was warm and soft. She enjoyed the veggies and suace underneath as well. For dessert, I had the pistachio tree leches which was a bit too sweet for my taste. She had the apple frittata. I had a taste of hers and really enjoyed it. I will probably get that next time. Service was good. When asked for the restroom, we were directed to the outdoor one which seemed too "public restroom" for my taste, especially with the amount I was paying for dinner. If I remember correctly they had a nice indoor restroom..that would have made more sense for this establishment. Hence the deduction of a star. We had an awful experience at Workshop, and it was so upsetting because this place came highly recommended, and it was our one "fancy" meal while we were in Palm Springs. We made a reservation at the community table, which is fine, that's what we were expecting, but what a dumb and horribly-designed table they have. The "chairs" are just soft stools that are beyond uncomfortable and they keep the door to the patio open so you get freezing cold air in the main space. We asked about being switched to a booth for our dinner, and they said no because they were all booked (even though several were still empty by the time that we left). The whole community table itself put us in a sour mood to start, and things didn't get better from there. Our server, not to mince words, was a complete misogynist jerk--he was so smugly condescending while it was, ironically, clear that he did not know either the food or drink menu very well. And speaking of menus, nothing looked very appealing at all. It was a limited selection, and uninspired at that. However, most of the dishes we ended up ordering were very good, and we have to say that the Ohanami is one of the best cocktails that we've ever had. The Matriarch was pretty nice too. For food, we started with the fried oyster mushrooms, and they were delicious. All of them were super crispy, and mercifully, the honey wasn't overpowering. They came out with a great sauce and were a nice starter overall. The steak frites dish was extraordinary--the steak was incredible (even though it was rarer than ordered) and again, the cherry butter was not overwhelmingly sweet. Decent fries. So good. We were much less impressed with the diver scallops entree, which was boring as hell and served with undercooked squash. The squash that came out with our daughter's salmon was also undercooked, and that meal had way too much citrus going on that overpowered everything else. So, 2 out of 4 dishes were stellar and 2 were OK. We couldn't resist the pistachio tres leches for dessert, and it did not disappoint. It was so very light and pistachio-y, and the rose was nicely balanced in the cream. The brown sugar ice cream our daughter got was also good. Their bathrooms deserve special mention. Have you been to a national park? Well, that's what the bathroom situation is here: old, filthy, stinky, with Hitchcockesque lighting. Just: what?? This meal cost a pretty penny, and we can confidently say that it was not worth it due to the unpleasant table experience and rude service. The place was pretty busy, so it seems like the top 10% of Palm Springs doesn't really care about that kind of stuff, but if you're coming from out of town, we'd really recommend another location. We wish we had ended up trying Bar Cecil (our original plan) instead. 2.5 stars, generously rounding up because a lot of the food was pretty good. read more

On Friday night my husband, my mother, and I attempted to go to Birba, but they were closed for a private event. After checking The Workshops' online reservation system--which showed availability across patio seating, indoor booths, and the community table--we decided to walk over. Upon arrival, we were told the only available seating was the very end of the community table, tucked behind a curtain. When we asked about the booths, we were told they were not available, despite the fact that I could have reserved a booth for 3 on my phone for the same time. After some back and forth, my husband asked if we could at least sit on the patio, which was eventually accommodated. We've been to The Workshops a few times before. My husband was hesitant to return, as he hadn't enjoyed the food previously and felt it was overpriced. Unfortunately, this visit confirmed his concerns, and we won't be returning. The menu rotates seasonally, but nothing stood out this time. I split the heirloom carrots and a pizza with my mother, while my husband ordered the fried rice with kimchi. The carrots were served on a pool of flavorless tahini with a clump of dates & and some garnish--overall very underwhelming. I didn't love the pizza from the first bite and ended up tearing it apart and pushing it around my plate. Both my mother and husband then found hard, inedible pieces of sausage casing baked into the pizza (they had both eaten full slices). A quick Google search confirms that sausage casings should be removed before consuming & cooking; once baked, they are tough, unpleasant, and not digestible. My husband called over the manager. While he apologized, the interaction felt dismissive. My husband spoke to him a second time at which point, the manager suggested he understood the "feedback" about the casing to just be our "preference," which was frustrating given that this is a legitimate food-preparation issue--especially at this price point. Leaving sausage casings baked onto a pizza is unacceptable. The check was adjusted more appropriately. We tipped our server fully, as she was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food quality and overall experience were disappointing enough that we will not be returning. read more

This was my favorite restaurant in Palm Springs that we tried. Really enjoyed the duck confit salad - the duck was delicious & plentiful. The tomato and peach salad was ripe and tasty even being so close to the end of the season. Especially enjoyed the grilled cabbage - very unique and tasty. Unfortunately a rain storm diverted us from the patio to the bar, but still an excellent experience. read more

Scallop Crudo | 22 yuzu broth, cara cara, fresno chile, nasturtium -My least fav dish, not much flavor to it. It may be bc all the other dishes had such intense flavors that it drowned this one out. IMO, this dish should've came out first before the others. Stracciatella | 20 salt roasted beet, shaaved chiogga beet, sungold tomato, fresh herbs, crispy red quinoa -one of my fav, would totally order it again. There were depths of flavors to this salad. The crispy quinoa and crunchy julienne beets have a nice texture to the soft sweet beets Fried Rice | 28 crispy pork belly, anson mills carolina gold rice, nira kimchi, roasted peanut, 5-spice, fried egg -lots of diff flavors in this dish..if you're not a fan of 5 spice, it may not be something you would enjoy. Thermal Corn Risotto | 34 supplement: add four blue caledonian shrimp +24 corn puree, charred onion relish, cotija -this risotto was delicious. Creamy, velvety texture. Iberian Pork Steak | 42 7 oz abanico wood grilled, cheddar grits, sour cherry mostarda, roasted sugar snap peas, pean tendril -the char on this pork steak made me forget that this was even pork. I thought I was eating a steak. Everything was good about this dish. The grits was creamy, the pea tendrils were young and fresh and that sweet, tangy, cherry mostarda sauce went really well with the pork. Oyster Mushrooms | 22 chicken fried, bread & butter pickle, buttermilk sauce, spiced honey -the mushrooms were great with all the diff medley of flavors from the sauce. read more
